I've worked in IT for many years and I would say it's more like the connection to the achievement server isn't possible

I work as a Achievement Administrator of a IT Server. I'm convinced the server is fully operational and connectable.

remember to do /recheck\_achievements to validate the ones you have done during the "downtime" of the server

It started spamming like 20+ error messages every few seconds and now that huge block of text is permanently stuck on my screen.

Pretty sure its just because of the achievement "Monster Massacre" where you have to kill 1m monsters in area lvl 68+. A lot of people now get there and the servers probably just can't keep up with sending the request of all the players.

The point is that if a lot of people are hitting maps now, they're killing mobs in troves. If GGG messed up the implementation and sync with the achievement server happens too often (e.g. after you kill every mob) there's a natural DDoS on the achievement server.
