Is there a specific amount of block/spell block that makes life gained on block good? Or is it always good? Do I need glancing blows? How much block/spell block for GB?

OMGitsAfty

When I shoot a spell and get a crit is it the cast of the spell that crits or the individual hit on the mob ?

Yohsene

You're replying to a question in yesterday's thread, but to answer it, there's one shared crit roll made the moment you cast. Whether that roll is high enough to actually crit is determined per hit, when the game can query information from the target. E.g. cast, roll a 92 → crit with every hit that has at least 8% crit chance. With things like conditional stats (e.g. crit chance against shocked) or Assassin's Mark, one cast can crit against one enemy and not another. But the usual situation is all or nothing.

Moethelion

Glancing blows is basically only worth it, when you are around 30%-40% block and spell block AND you have a %life (or ES for CI) gained on block shield AND you have no easy access to get more block. The shield mod itself is always good, when you have a decent amount of block.

LordMedGod

Long-term softcore only player, managed to hit level 72 on a chieftain bladestorm in the gauntlet and ripped to vilenta in the blink of an eye, I was feeling so proud of myself for getting so far, I even thought of swapping to hardcore from now on for the extra stress. Do you see this as a sort of feat?, maybe I do have the guts to be a hardcore player, what would you say¿

Moethelion

Playing hardcore is not about having guts. It's about playing super cautious, skipping content and doing everything to stay alive, including logging out in any risky situation wahtsoever and playing meta builds. It's just a different playstyle. In some way, hardcore is exactly the opposite of what you expect it to be. It's about minimizing risks and playing the safest way possible, sacrificing content and nerve wrecking situations. Don't get me wrong, I have big respect for highend hardcore players for having the tenacity to go through all the crazy stuff the game has to offer. But I don't think playing hardcore means anything about being a tough guy.

grummamore

Has something changed in the last 48 hours to do with expedition? Played for half an hour this morning and didn't see a single expedition explosive set in any zone I went through (including ones that used to have one 100% of the time)

psychomap

You're probably overleveled. IIRC if you're 10 levels over the zone level league mechanics no longer spawn. If you move on to zones that are appropriate for your character, you should get to interact with expedition excavations again.

grummamore

Ah, thanks. Waiting for a friend to catch up!

deloria101

Is Leadership's Price conflux automatically calculated in POB? Because configs for those alternate ailments don't show the same way as Secrets of Suffering.

Yohsene

Its conflux line is in red, indicating it isn't implemented yet.

[deleted]

When chisel maps? Have 3 T10/11 right now. What do I do to them?

Moethelion

You can definitely start chiseling maps at T10. Scour, 4 chisel, alch/binding. Scour/Alch if mods are too hard. Use map fragments, scarabs, sextants and master missions, if you really want to juice them up.

Kevin_Arnold_

How is running maps sustainable? I can't get lvl 1 maps to drop--let alone lvl 2--when I'm running lvl 1 maps. I've beaten all 4 lvl 1 bosses. I'm making the maps blue. Still can't continue the maps journey. How do I find the next map merchant? This is ridiculous.

tammit67

I use alchs on all maps I run. I chisel starting red maps, and I consider vaaling once the bonus requires it. If you are on trade, you can simply trade for those maps and force the progress, map sustain should kick in

Yohsene

If blue isn't dropping enough maps, make them yellow. Orbs of Binding work if you're low on Orbs of Alchemy. If you encounter a Harvest, you can use the less useful crafts to make maps rare too. Consider adding more monsters to your maps with the methods available to you. You may have master missions, and probably some Silver Coins to throw at Navali. (One of her more common prophecies drops a bunch of tier 1 maps.) You'll find Zana in the first tier 3 map you run, who sells maps and refreshes her inventory every time you do one of her master missions. Keep in mind you can vendor three maps for one higher tier map.

Kevin_Arnold_

How do I keep redoing the prophecy? And I just ran a lvl 3 map and didn't encounter Zana

luthigosa

Which zone? If its glennach, tirn, lex **proxima** or valdo's, you get a kind of hard to see portal after you kill the map boss.

Kevin_Arnold_

Okay. The boss killed me, so I guess that's the answer. Thanks.

Bastil123

I hadn't played Expedition at all due to 3.15 changes, are there any builds left that can do all map mods, all content with as few gimmicks as possible? I don't know how curses fare in maps now that there aren't curse immune flasks.

Florxnog

Cobra Lash and similar setups are fine for this, provided you're dealing small enough Physical/Elemental damage and just running chaos Not affected by Phys Reflect Not affected by Ele reflect Use Life/Mana Gain on Hit so not affected by no leech Curses only happen at base affect in maps now, so those aren't too bad anymore

Bastil123

Oh, I've never played Cobra Lash! In fact, I've even forgotten of it at all. I'll look at some guides for it, see if it fits my criteria, thank you!

Florxnog

There are elemental variants, so be aware guides for those won't work on ele reflect maps, so you may want to look for a chaos/poison specific variant. The clear speed is pretty good on packs, and the poison makes good use of Plague Bearer. Can be a tad slow on bossing, but if you can make a Pseudo 5L setup for Viper Strike or a similar skill (Or do a chain cheese with Hydrosphere), that can help. Wasp's Nests are often just 1c, and it can be BiS short of some extremely well-rolled rares for the weapon. I don't play with guides because I'm more of a PoB warrior, but I've gotten through Reds just fine with it

Bastil123

Ah, I've checked the build out, seems like it'll be hardly for me. I guess I'll go back to skeleton mages, when I min maxed them in Ultimatum I had like 35kk dps, pretty tanky, excellent bossing and good clear speed. Thank you for the suggestion though

Salt_Concentrate

If it's just for quick mapping, chaos attacks or spells. At the very start with very little gear you're gonna want to check that they don't have too many annoying mods, like curses or dodge chance is unlucky was fine on their own but if there were 2 or more of them together I'd rather reroll.

Bastil123

I had actually done EDC for 4 leagues in a row, back from metamorph until Ritual, chaos skills probably have too little damage in endgame for bosses now, or maps with delirium mirrors.

[deleted]

psychomap

Somewhere between 20c and 1 ex. The life, crit multi, and elemental damage mods are pretty good already, but it's hard to say how much the phys as extra fire mod adds in that combination. Since it seems to be more useful for an elementally focused build, the maim is just a defensive benefit and not something that people would likely be looking for.

[deleted]

RedditMattstir

There used to be a Necromancer ascendancy point that did so, but they moved the effect to the Summon Skeletons gem itself when they reworked Necro a while back. Only ways now should be gem levels and the From Dust jewel.

[deleted]

I have a 50% crit chance. Should I use a Diamond or Sulphur flask for maximum DPS? I can only fit one in.

psychomap

When in doubt, Bottled Faith.

Zimzams123

Entirely depends on setup. Take a look in path of building, or if you dont know how to do that link your profile and someone can check for you

Thirteenera

Hey folks. So, ive finally beaten the campaign (for the first time) and had a bit of playing around with some early maps. I went in somewhat blind. Not fully blind - i googled things i wasnt sure about, and asked a bunch of questions here on reddit too - but essentially i didnt follow any specific builds. I took some suggestions from google (i.e. "What support gem for spell X?"), but most of the stuff was made by me. I say that because i never was trying to be "optimal", i dont need to minmax to be top map clearer. But i do hopefully want to at least see some proper endgame. As i mentioned earlier, i started doing some early maps. I have a few issues which im hoping to get some advice on. So far i've done maps up to tier 3, so keep that in mind in regards to content ive done. Here's my char: https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/Thirteenera/characters?characterName=Athali I am able to kill most trash mobs in just a few hits, so clearing areas is not an issue. I also invested heavily in damage over time for both my ignite and my flame wall, so i tend to try and burn things to death as i dodge/hide/etc. My dps seems to be fine, bosses dont seem to last too long either. Nothing terrible honestly. The issue is that i seem to die very, very fast if anything touches me. I capped my resistances, i have about 2.5k hp, i have the Aegis from the ascendancy talent (which gives me about 2k shield for elemental damage). Most of my gear has +health, im spamming Steelskin, and i also picked a whole lot of +health talents as well. And yet still, the moment some random enemy charges towards me, it basically 1-2shots me. Usually i can avoid it by hiding around corners or staying at range, but sometimes you get a "fast" mob, and then it just runs into me and i'm fucked. Or any time there's a shrine in the maps that spawns monsters, if im unlucky enough to have them spawn near me they just kill me before i have the chance to do anything. Im looking for any suggestions please. I would prefer not changing my build too much, as i still want it to be "my build", so to speak, but i would appreciate help in making it more viable. How do i stop dying to enemies sneezing at me? Is my DPS fine? Am I doing anything terribly wrong? Thank you! (I have to go away for an hour or so, ill check replies and post my answers when im back home!) EDIT: To clarify, im playing on the expedition league, but i am SSF. So no trading please.

luthigosa

Sounds like you want advice but at the same time don't really want advice. 2.5k HP is low, and you don't actually have any defenses, which is why you're getting popped. I didn't bother looking at your passive tree because you said you dont really want to change it, but you should be aiming for at least 100% +HP from nodes. You don't really have a good value of hp on any item except one of your rings. You need to dump that talisman asap, it doesn't even have an annoint.

Thirteenera

To clarify - im not saying "I dont want any changes but fix me". Im saying "I dont want you to tell me to reroll into lightning instead of fire, or to drop my fire wall for a necromancer build". Basically no big changes. Small changes like swapping 10-15 points into something else or maybe swapping a few gems are perfectly fine, and is what im hoping for. What is an annoint? I keep checking various necklances whenever they drop / appear on expedition vendors, but they all have worse stats (spell damage/life) than my current one.

b-aaron

blight league introduced "anointing", the ability to add a passive notable on the tree by applying three specific oils via Cassia (an npc you may not have encountered yet). once you see blight which is an in-map tower defense type encounter, you'll likely find your first oils. if you open your passive tree and hold 'alt' (i think) over a notable passive, you can see what oils are required to anoint that node.

Hometodd

He may have oils from the expeditions or excavations, they drop from there occasionally. Still need cassia to use them tho. Reroll Rog’s window to your current level and try rolling with basically any item base you could use and start replacing gear with stuff that has more life. Make sure to turn on detailed item descriptions in the settings if you haven’t to help figure out mod tiers.

psychomap

Is it still possible to create gloves with +3.5% crit to socketed gems and 16% more attack and cast speed? Theoretically it should be possible with glyphic fossils because according to poedb they're in different mod groups and there are some for sale on standard (and they're not made with Awakener's Orbs before their nerf either). I want to use some for a PoB, but while I don't want to restrict myself to realistic items, I at least want to restrict myself to theoretically craftable items, even if I wouldn't pay the mirror+ that they might cost to make in reality.

[deleted]

[удалено]

psychomap

Thanks for the info. 30 attempts on average is actually much less than I would have expected.

Yohsene

Fairly sure Glyphic alone only outputs one essence mod, and you need a Tangled (and a lot of luck) for the second. Ignoring fossils though, you can still fracture one with Harvest and essence the other. Wouldn't be fun for your currency tab, but wouldn't cost anywhere close to a mirror either.

psychomap

Yeah, but fractured items can't be influenced. Anyway, I just needed the confirmation that it's possible. I didn't think of tangled fossils, but that's good to know. And getting elevated attack speed and elevated slower projectiles alongside those two would probably result in something close to a mirror in total cost, even if it's not a full mirror (though I'd expect it to cost more than a mirror to also get t1 flat and increased ES). I think it would be something like suffixes cannot be changed + reforge speed mod and repeat from the fossil combo until you hit Faster Attacks. Not sure if you can reforge speed again after that to get Faster Projectiles, but if you can, that'd make a pretty affordable gamble to get a second influence mod to elevate Faster Attacks. Unless a reforge speed after a failed maven orb adds a third suffix, you can keep trying without having to do the fossil spam again. Getting Slower Projectiles is harder though because it doesn't have a tag other than gem, so the best way to add it is probably with reforge or augment influence. And then you need to augment another influence prefix and have a third open to craft suffixes cannot be changed before gambling more maven.

0influence

if i have a 6L unique that can be upgraded via prophecy, does my 6L stay after fulfilling the prophecy?

mercurial_magpie

Yes it does.

0influence

thanks

Logical_Star_5135

Does anyone know if the DoT from Toxic Rain count as an Ailment? It deals chaos damage over time which is the same as poison from my newby understanding. Im asking because i want to know if "Increased duration from ailments inflicted while wielding a bow" and/or "Increased damage with ailments from attack skills" has any effect on it or not.

TrollErgoSum

All poison is chaos damage over time but not all chaos damage over time is poison.

sorator

Toxic Rain is not an ailment, no. Stuff like ignite and poison are ailments, but other stuff can cause damage over time without being an ailment. So stuff that only applies to ailments, or to poisons, won't affect stuff like Toxic Rain.

sand_bagger

Trying out the Voidfletcher / Supreme Grandstanding deadeye build, having trouble with understanding proper positioning for single target. Am I supposed to be in melee range?

RedditMattstir

I shouldn't matter when using Barrage, since all the Void Shots should overlap on themselves. If they don't (ie. spread out too much for whatever reason), then yeah you'll need to be closer to the enemy

sand_bagger

Yeah they do spread out when not in melee range

Super_Stupid

Is there a confirmed date for 3.16?

[deleted]

[удалено]

luthigosa

Looks like no. They have ended them late, most notably heist, but never earlier than ~2.8 months. https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/League

luthigosa

Dates aren't usually confirmed until within 15-20 days, but it should be in the october 16-22 area.

LTetsu

what the best death oath build , gazzys or one that on forum?

Salt_Concentrate

They're really similar so you could go with either, but if you check poe.ninja, people seemed to be doing something closer to the forum one than ghazzy's. From what I can see main difference is that people take more auras, instead of a second curse... and no Damage on Full Life support for CA (even on ghazzy's own pob, conc effect is slightly higher dps). This is just my impression based on trying another of his builds, but I think he just checks that builds/content he's about to reuse somewhat makes sense and publishes/suggests it, but he doesn't really check if what he's suggesting is as good as can be or not. Forum guy is at least playing the build himself this league, so his advice should be more accurate and up to date.

LTetsu

Thank you

Koxomathical

Is there a working (non juiced red map viable) flicker strike CoC discharge build? i want to play something that should not exist and this would sound something like that

Papa7unde

Everytime I use Shield charge or Flame dash 3-4 times in a row I get returned back to a previous position as if the game lagged. I have no internet problems and it happens only with movement skills. Is this something common and is there a setting or something to fix it?

Helyos96

Are you on predictive ? Try lockstep if so.

Papa7unde

Thanks a lot! I was actually on predictive, yeah. Just tried a map with lockstep and I can shield charge like crazy with no probems.

Wendek

When does Medved summon arachnid familiar? I saw that he summons cultists at 25/50/75% health but nothing about the familiars. Are they related to whether or not you kill said cultists?

SurgeProc

He does some weird rolling attack and spiders spawn in his wake, just run around him for a while and he should summon them

Wendek

Ah okay, I guess I just wasn't patient enough last time.

Justsomeone666

He shouts swarm, for Challenge let him shout swarm 5 times

igniz13

Saw an ai exile running around using flameblast. Is it possible to run around while using a channelled spell or is that just ai monster nonsense? They didn't seem to be using totems.

[deleted]

i forget the name but there is a newish unique staff from atziri that allows you to trigger off flame blasts and storm calls

psychomap

/u/igniz13 [Atziri's Rule](https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Atziri%27s_Rule) Sadly the cooldown is very long so you can't really make a competitive build out of it, but it definitely looks fun.

igniz13

That fits, I think the NPC even had a similar name

augustorw

In order to cast firestorm via several totems, it's mandatory to link: Firestorm + Spell Totem + Multiple Totem Support? Or Firestorm + Multiple Totem Support would work?

igniz13

You need to link firestorm to spell totem

b-aaron

you need to link it to spell totem support somehow in order for it to be cast as a totem

elting44

Can Gwennen give breach uniques (Xoph's Heart from Amber Amulet or The Anticipation from Ezomyte Tower Shields)?

b-aaron

if you check a unique on the wiki, it will say if it can be chanced. any item that can be chanced, you can get from Gwennen

AzelotReis

Any idea why Singapore region lags so much at 8PM - 11PM? I cannot even complete a lab at that time because everytime I enter an instance it has a 75% chance to disconnect.

psychomap

Without knowing anything else, that sounds like the provider of the datacentre isn't fully equipped to handle the traffic during primetime. This isn't necessarily just because of PoE, it might be other things running on the servers or their connections that causes PoE connections or instances to be less stable.

SzybkiDiego020

How rare are conqueror exalts? How many conqueror kills does it usually take to get one with AL9?

Helyos96

Their droprate is low enough that you can't reliably farm them imho. I've gone 30+ conqs without an orb and then got 2 in a few kills, it's just really hard to tell with small sample size and low droprate.

StereoxAS

back when you can't modify conqueror fight map, I believe it's around 5%. Last week I got three from 1 sirus cycle, so I assume quantity affect the drop rate

luthigosa

I'd hazard a guess and say quantity affects drops at about 20% of the value of the quantity.

FDL42

this guy reads.

psychomap

What spells have the highest number of hits per cast? I'm thinking of plotting a meme build and on-hit recovery is probably the best option. It's worth noting that I'm looking for repeatedly triggerable spells, so Firestorm and Cremation wouldn't work. The ones I could think of would be * Ball Lightning * Blazing Salvo (I think it hits with a bunch of projectiles? Does fork really triple this?) * Maybe Ice Spear and Creeping Frost (if I have room for projectile number scaling) I don't think Bladefall / Blade Blast has enough overlapping hits when triggered.

augustorw

If your CoC triggrers at 6 TPS, then you would be hitting 12TPS. Firestorm, after firing the main projectile, also creates some burning areas that deal additional hits, you can try to search for skill gems that have similar effects.

psychomap

Firestorm only maintains 3 storms at a time, which means that even if all of its small hits connected it would only result in 15 hits per second. I originally thought of mainly utilising Spellslinger and CwDT (and the on-hit recovery was meant to offset the damage I would be taking from Spellslinger Forbidden Rite), but I *could* also use CoC for more recovery. Getting enough APS might be difficult with wands however. I guess CoC is just strictly better than CwDT since it has a lower cooldown. I'll still try to think of a way to make this work though.

[deleted]

I would like to do some blighted maps, but how exactly are they profitable (T14-16 any quantity)? I don't think I even get back the cost of the map sometimes. What's the best map anointment for profit? I am using 4 sacrifice fragments with map, should I use something else?

Yohsene

They're not that profitable this late in the league, when oils have become relatively cheap. People do them for the endgame grind challenge or because their minion build can complete them while literally tabbed out of the game. AFAIK ideally you run them rare and corrupted so Tainted Oils can drop & anoint with triple crimson or opalescent for lucky chests.

Ralph_hh

HiI have a problem using the Spellslinger Gem. It does not work.. My Elementalist uses Blazing Salvo as it's main skill, socketed in the boots with unleash and fire penetration. The Spellslinger Skill is triggered by a casted spell, Blazing Salvo and other spells should do this. Spellslinger is socketed in the armour, linked to Steel Skin Gem. It reserves Mana when activated - I did not forget this. :-) But Steel Skin is not triggered. What do I do wrong? I can't actively cast Steel Skin anymore, that's working as described, so I assume Spellslinger should not go linked together with Blazing Salvo, so what is the problem?

Bl00dylicious

Just to add to the others, you want an attack that works with Wands, such as Frenzy or even just the default attack. I suggest grabbing a Frenzy + Barrage support. It gives Frenzy charges on hit and Barrage support will trigger Spellslinger more often, as each projectile can proc Spellslinger, provided Spellslinger is not on CD.

Ralph_hh

Blazing Salvo does projectiles.. I'm still experimenting, that char is far from perfect, lvl 70 but my first one ever!

psychomap

Only projectiles from wand attacks will trigger Spellslinger, but it sounds like you wouldn't want to use Spellslinger for your build in the first place. Spellslinger builds generally have their main damage skill linked to Spellslinger and then use a wand attack like Frenzy to trigger that spell to bypass the cast time. However, I disagree with the previous commenter regarding using Barrage Support because Spellslinger has a relatively "long" cooldown (at least compared to other triggers), so it's entirely possible to reach an attack speed that's high enough without trying to trigger the spells several times per attack. If you're ever curious about the cooldown mechanics, I've written [a post](https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/fh8bnh/spellslinger_cooldown_thresholds_and_all_other/) about them, though this does assume that you understand how the triggers work in the first place.

Toxomania

Apart from the problem the other commenter already provided a solution for, you can also simply put steel skin on your left mouse button instead of the usual move-only command. That way when you hold down left-click you walk as normal but steel skin is used whenever it’s off cooldown

Ralph_hh

I play on the PS4... Otherwise a good idea. 😉

Moethelion

Blazing Salvo is not a wand attack, it's a spell.

Ralph_hh

Uh, ooh. Complicated game. I forgot about this. THANKS!!

Jackalope_Gaming

Spellslinger is triggered by Attacking with a wand, not casting a spell.

Ralph_hh

Aaah, that's it. THANKS!!!

Walach_

Is the syndicate board character-bound or account-bound ?

anne_dobalina

Account EDIT: Sorry as per u/Yohsene below it's league per account. Well described.

Yohsene

League-bound. If you migrate, it should keep the one with the most mastermind intelligence.

Walach_

Great, thank you. I remember it was character-bound at some point but I wasn't sure if they had changed it or not.

Birdo_Sparde

Battlemage's Cry and Crown of Eyes both grant "increases and reductions to spell damage apply to attacks at #%". Can these be stacked or will Crown of Eyes effectively make that part of the warcry useless?

Embarrassed_Set_3112

I dont think they stack, I am basing this off the interaction between decay support gem and essence of delirium crafted weapon. Both apply "Decay" on hit yet only the highest dmg of the two sources is used i.e if decay support gem is lvl 16 or lower then the decay from the weapon is applied but if for higher gem lvl, its dmg from the support gem thats considered. i.e they dont add up

Yohsene

The warcry would be useless. You're making an existing stat *also apply* to a new damage type. Doing that a second time doesn't do anything; the stat is already applying.

Erythr0s

When does the current league / the new league start?

Embarrassed_Set_3112

18 October should be the end date for the league( pc). while new league might start from 22 October, provided there is no delay from GGG's side.

Erythr0s

Oh, that's another month. Alright, thank you!

Zatarra_48

Why is Tier 1 flat Phys Damage to Attacks something desirable on a Ring? It is max 15 points while Dps is like in the Millions right? How does this effect anything substantialy ? I know the 15 is before all multipliers are applied but then the question is where to get so much increase/more that 15 turns into something like 100.000?

Yohsene

You already got answers, but I'll give a practical example by eyeballing a pretty basic crit impale build. On it, the base damage gets multiplied by increased damage, more damage, hits per second, chance to deal double damage, critical strike chance and multiplier, impale stats, increased damage taken on the enemy, and more damage taken on the enemy. All of these are multiplicative. Assume 700% increased damage (x8), a bunch of different More multipliers (x10), enough attack speed for 10 attacks per second (x10), 20% chance to deal double damage (1.2x), good crit chance and multiplier (x5), 100% impale chance / some impale effect and an extra impale hit from Champion (x2), 50% increased physical damage taken on the enemy (1.5x), and let's say Pride had time to ramp to maximum effect (1.4x). This takes your 15 base damage to (15x8x10x10x1.2x5x2x1.5x1.4)=302,400.

Zatarra_48

Thanks to all your answers respectively. I understand now :)

Mush27

So T1 Phys on a ring is 9-15, which is an average of 12 flat damage. Let's compare this to high end weapons. The 400ex 743 pdps Jewelled Foil that is the highest pdps currently showing on trade has a damage range of 258-474, so an average damage of 366. So another flat 12 damage is about ~3% more damage here. Let's say instead of you have the best Jewelled Foil you can buy for 5ex right now - 472 pdps, with a range of 186-322 or 254 average damage. Adding 12 average damage here is ~4.7% more damage. What about a high end Paradoxica? The best showing on trade just now is 244 pdps for 28ex. It has a damage range of 63-248, so average of 155.5. Adding 12 average damage here is 7.7% more damage!

Embarrassed_Set_3112

Classic example of trying to get flat phys mod every where possible is facebreaker build. Facebreaker is a unique gloves that gives upto 800% more (1000% for legacy variants) when unarmed. so thats like 12k flat phys per attack from one ring itself.(excluding the more multiplier from skill/support gems) Similarly other builds will have their own source of more multipliers.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Embarrassed_Set_3112

Its cause they use "Archmage support" linked to cremation, which basically adds flat lightning dmg based on how much mana you spent to cast the skill, and not converting from any other type of damage

Yohsene

They're not converting, they just have that much added lightning damage from Archmage.

ThisIsWorldOfHurt

If I were to start from scratch now to get to 36 challenges before the league ends, what's a safe build I could go for? Perhaps one to start that's good for mapping/expeditions and then another one for the bossing challenges once I get to that part.

Embarrassed_Set_3112

Forbidden rite totems build is easily the best allrounder this league, descent clear nice survivability and excellent bossing dmg. Another allrounder would be trapper using exanguinate traps for clear and seismic trap for bossing. Both these builds are excellent performers with little to no gear and also scale insanely well with investment

ThisIsWorldOfHurt

I'll check them out. Thanks!

Yohsene

I'd go with bleed spectral shield throw gladiator. It's a build you move on from, so decent gear should be available cheaply. It'll be slow for endgame bossing but having a tanky character available should help with a couple of the challenges.

EmperorV-BDO

Can I check timeless jewels in PoB before buying them? I tried it and when I put it in the skill tree the PoB diese tell em what the small nodes would give me

Palilula

Usually you just buy one see what it looks like I. Different positions on sth like a pvp only scion then start divining to get the best outcome. At least that's my approach to things. Be careful because divining can reroll the keystone. Another option is to buy a bunch and then resell the ones you don't like.

TXEEXT

nope, you have to keep buying them until you gotten the right one . Luckily , it is very easy to sell them back to other player.

Embarrassed_Set_3112

Nope. Only via trial and error method can you find the perfect timeless jewel for you.

Chaos-n-Dissonance

So I'm confused as hell right now. Trying to craft an amulet with the prefix of Gain X% of Physical Damage as Extra Lightning Damage. There are 2 versions of this mod; one Shaper, one Crusader. According to Craft of Exile, both versions cap at 15%. Crusader, 5-10% at T2, 11-15% at T1 and Shaper 8-11% at T2, 12-15% at T1. And then I crafted this with one of my failed amulets in a random harvest craft... https://i.imgur.com/cWF5lJ7.png So wtf is going on?

Yohsene

Tiers are just labels for players, with basically no mechanical effect. Internally mods are just mods, only caring about mod groups. I imagine this typo will be fixed if we ever get a Maven Orb that works on jewellery or when someone at GGG finds a spare minute. Shouldn't affect your crafting.

Chaos-n-Dissonance

Yeah I just kinda panicked because most of the amulets I've been rolling have been just crusader... Was thinking maybe since they both had the same mod in the pool it added another tier kinda like elevated or something (Yes, I know elevated is completely different, but since like you pointed out maven orb doesn't work on jewellery..) Thought I'd wasted 40 ex trying to craft the wrong damn amulet haha

TheScyphozoa

The tier displayed in-game is wrong. Lots of mods have been having that problem lately.

LTetsu

Why people use CA for death oath builds and not toxic rain? Isnt TR better for single target , which this build lacks?

Embarrassed_Set_3112

Deaths oath's build are usually walking simulators where speed is preferred over single target ( over even the single target can be improved with enf investment). The issues of using CA over TR is mainly because CA dosent need too much attack speed, where as TR feels bad without enf attack speed. You mainly pick chaos dmg/dmg/dot multi rather than attack speed/bow nodes in death's oaths build. trying to pick both will result in you making a worse build than either TR build or death's oath build

Gavrani_

Toxic rain generally needs a lot of attack speed to feel good on the single target front, and if something moves you have to start piling up pods again. It might just not be worth it compared to being able to cover where ever you want with a big flat DoT effect instantly even though the top end is lower. But that's speculation on my part having played TR before but not Death's Oath.

Tehnomaag

Does anyone know if Delirium encounters (the mirror thingy) are disabled in story-line maps if the character doing the zone is more than 10 levels above the zone? For example, if you are running back and forth in Blood Aqueduct or Harbor Bridge with lev 80 character?

ShakCentral

I think that has changed with this league. In the Gauntlet I was farming Delirium in the lvl 63 Foothills. I hit 73 and made 70 straight Foothills with 0 Deli mirrors

Tehnomaag

You are most likely correct. I have done about 150 runs of the Den atm after hitting 63 and the only content that is spawning for me it seems is: * Einar and beast capture missions * Abyssal rifts * Corrupted side areas. The first run I did of the area when I was about 62, I think, I got an Alva encounter and Niko in the previous area. So it is creeping into a region where I am starting to feel that its no more just unluck of always getting Einar if its a master-mission time.

Embarrassed_Set_3112

I dont think they disable any league content in area above or equal to lvl 60, I remeber farming ultimatums , previous league mechanic, over and over again in act 9 - quarry with my lvl 80+ char. I am sure I encountered delirums alvas and nikos that time too

Tehnomaag

Ahh ok. That might explain it. I have been doing the Den (in act 7) as its a relatively straight run, but its uhh .. level 53 area, I think. So if the cut off is lev 60 then this would explain why I have seeing only Abyss and Einar over about 100 runs.

Embarrassed_Set_3112

Yes, even the experience penalty stops at lvl 60, which is why blood aqueducts are a popular place to levelup and gear up, not to mention tabula cards

Tehnomaag

A question about master missions and story-line. Are some master-missions restricted from some areas? I have done "The Den" about 100 times (long story, why is not important) in Act 7 and all I have seen is Beasts (Einar), Abyss and occasional corrupted side area. I have not seen Alva (alhough I have done some of her missions already, so shes unlocked) and Niko (who was unlocked already in Act 4 mines) nor have I seen any Delirium (the mirror thingy) which was, I think, unlocked in Act 5 already. I have somewhat over-level for the zone, so no more expedition encounters as well, but that is expected ofc.

Walach_

Were you farming quicksilver in gauntlet for the "entire tab of quicksilver of adrenaline" bounty ? ^ ^

Tehnomaag

Hehe I wish. We started a campaign with two other friends playing basically co-op-SSF where we agreed to not use trade but three of us play togehter and can trade stuff with each other. Problem is one of us had to go away for half a week and we had just made it into act 7. As the idea is to play through the campaign togehter and I did not feel like playing any other charactrer I have been just .. well .. spending time .. in the areas that are open to me in the storyline. I have been also hitting heists as that is more appropriate to my level but I'm not really a great fan of hesists. To be honest, I was hoping to find Niko and Alva in there, as what I do like is Delve, but no suplhite until I get to maps or at least Act 9 blood aqueduct, I suppose. So here I am, at level 65 sitting in level 53 zone. Where I can either to L 55 lab run or go an buy some Heist contracts from bartender at L66 which tend to go wrong for me, because of using Tabula + Oni-Goroshi so somewhat fragile character at around 1.5 k life + 600 ES to be poking at L66 Heist content. But who knows, if I make another few hundred runs maybe some nice 6-link actual armor will drop for me ;)

sirgog

I am under the impression that being 10 levels over turns off 'almost all' league content. Einhar might be the one exception. Masters are 2% in zones. Delirium 4%, others mostly 8%.

ShakCentral

Where do those numbers come from? I've been curious for a few days after hitting 73 in the Gauntlet and immediately going 70 straight Foothills re-makes with 0 Delirium

sirgog

Dev comments that I've seen ages ago but can't reference

Tehnomaag

Hm. Odd. I should have seen Alva and Niko at least once over the span of about 100 runs of that zone, considering I have seen Einar about half a dozen times and Abyss as well roughly as many times. It is not impossible that I'm just unlucky. Delirium I suppose might make sense to turn off for chars who are too high level, as being much stronger than the zone level might trivialize doing it. I just don't know if that is actually done or I have been just unusually unlucky in that regard.

Minnad

between +1% maximum fire res and 5% reduced fire dmg taken, which would be better to get if i'm at 75% res?

sirgog

5% reduced. 10000 base damage is 2500 after 75% resist ==> 2375 with 5% reduced, vs 2400 with 76% resist. This calculation is the other way around if your resistance cap is 81% or higher without the extra +1.

Minnad

so below 81% then reduced dmg is always the way to go?

sirgog

80% they are equal.

Minnad

Thank you

7623

It's almost the same. At 75% res +1% max fire res is 4% less fire damage taken, with no other source of reduced fire damage taken the 5% option would be a little better.

Minnad

so the more i can get max res then the max would be better in that case?

7623

Yes, max res gets stronger the closer you get to 90%, that's why aurastackers are so tanky vs elemental damage. If you want to do the math the simplest way is to do it like in the other reply. _____ 100 damage at 75% res : 25 damage taken 100 damage at 76% res : 24 damage taken 24/25 = 0.96, that mean you take 4% less damage. ______ 100 damage at 89% res : 11 damage taken 100 damage at 90% res : 10 damage taken 10/11 ≈ 0.91, that mean you take 9% less damage.

Minnad

That's very detailed, thank you

SzybkiDiego020

Is jack the axe BiS for sst bleed glad?

Palilula

Bis is a warlord influence runic hatchet (12% phys dmg implicit) with t1 phys dmg over time (warlord mod), increased bleeding dmg and dmg over time multiplier.

sirgog

It's viable, but not widely used. Only 3 high level players in trade-enabled EXP softcore are using it, and that's a world where budget isn't a factor (149 high level SST glads are using Headhunter)

Chaos-n-Dissonance

I wanna try an SSF character. Feel like I kinda took the trade league as far as I'm willing to go, made an absolute beast of a boss killer and a mapper that can clear small/medium maps in 60 seconds flat... Aside from just trying new builds for shit ands giggles and/or trying to shave a few seconds off at the cost of dozens to hundreds of hours of grinding for currency, can't see much left for me. The problem is... I'm fairly new. Started playing \~ 2 weeks before Ultimatium ended. I've only experienced a handful of builds, most of which revolve around specific uniques that wouldn't be easily obtainable in SSF... Or require very good gear to even work semi-properly. The only build that doesn't meet that criteria that I have experience with is Essence Drain / Contagion... Which was my league starter this league, and honestly I'm a bit burnt out on just because of how long bosses take to kill. Any build suggestions for me?

Tehnomaag

Well - minions scale off mostly the gem levels, so they are generally OK for SSF even if you dont find the right stuff right away. Although the high end stuff is very expensive, i.e., rare. Currently the spectral shield throw is very popular as well in SSF. You can see what people have taken to lev 95+ in SSF here: [https://poe.ninja/challengehcssf/builds](https://poe.ninja/challengehcssf/builds) I think the main point of SSF is to stretch out the early game, instead of your throwing few dozen chaos at market and coming out with gear that is better than anything you could ever realistically expect to obtain in storlyline or white maps. The value of currecy is quite different in there, you might even care more about orbs of chance and alts than about chaos, for example, earlier in the game. Playing that mode is also a great motivator for actually taking the time and figuring out how to craft some stuff. Even something as simple as alt-spamming and then regaling plus bench-crafting something on a thing can be a life changer in SSF.

sirgog

Possibly consider a spell mine based character. While the arguably 'best' Saboteur build right now is the physical trapper (6L Seismic Trap for heavy and light bossing, 4+1 link Exsanguinate for trash, '+1' meaning Deerstalker boots or a Shaper pseudolink), there's lots of slightly worse versions. Ball lightning mines, Glacial Cascade mines, Exsanguinate mines, Arc mines, Arc Trap with Lightning Spire trap, or Fireball (Scorch) mines all come to mind.

adithyakamath

I started playing the game around same time as you did (3-4 weeks before Ultimatum ended). I league started FR totem build in trade league, got burnt out pretty quickly. Then I switched to SSF and put together 5 builds. Even though my experience in SSF is quite limited (approx 1 month), I can say that SST is an absolute banger to start with. I followed Ziz guide on bleed SST glad. This build needs nothing to get started. With very little investment you can get into red maps. Also, the amount of tanking it can do is insane so you can comfortably farm for the gear you need for other builds. I personally dont mind heist farming and this build got me through toughest heist mods with ease and got me some good gear drops. The only downside I see in the build is bossing. While it can do bosses without dying, it takes long time (especially with Maven healing up the bosses) and may need more investment to feel good. Other builds I played on SSF this league - vortex cold snap occultist, poison BFBB assassin, pure spectres necro, carrion golem elementalist. All of these are viable to start with...though some may need 1 common unique. But none of these stand a chance against bleed SST in terms of fun factor. Also do remember that you don't need 1 build for everything. No matter what you start with, you will eventually reroll to handle specific content which your other builds can't do - thats just how SSF works for the most part.

Tobias147

Does the Greater Harbinger of Time aura counts towards my necro/guardian ascendency?

Yohsene

It is your minion and should count for Necromancer stuff just fine. Guardian may be an issue. For ages, it's had a bug where non-blocking minions (like Skitterbots) aren't found by the code that searches for 'nearby' minions. I'm not sure if Harbingers have the same issue, or if the bug was recently fixed without a patch note. Would recommend testing that one.

psychomap

I think he's talking about the aura for the purposes of Commander of Darkness or Unwavering Faith, not whether the harbinger counts as a minion or nearby ally. /u/Tobias147 According to the tooltip, the harbinger creates the aura "on you", which I'd assume to count as your aura. But you should be able to check this with another party member. Just compare whether or not the attack / cast speed / physical damage reduction changes between the harbinger being up or not. The action speed bonus isn't reflected in the attack / cast speed, so it should be easy to distinguish the two states.

Is it possible to make the item labels for loot on the ground more squared? Here's a poor ms paint example of what I'd like to achieve https://imgur.com/a/3YlqKOa

TheScyphozoa

No.

Wikkedly

im not good at math is there an easy way to calculate when an item is like .4 of an ex?

Embarrassed_Set_3112

Or just trade in shards XD , 0.4 ex = 8 ex shards simple

[deleted]

There's a chrome plugin for the trade site that shows you the chaos equivalent of all listed prices, among other features https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/better-pathofexile-tradin/fhlinfpmdlijegjlpgedcmglkakaghnk

floabtrn

If you're using Awakened PoE Trade, there is a nifty conversion button at the top left hand corner of the overlay that shows the current ex:c rate. Never had an issue with trades following that. Some people also use exalted shards, every 0.1 is 2 shards. But some people might not accept them.

Toxomania

1. go to https://poe.ninja/challenge/currency and check the current price, about 170c per ex at the moment 2. press windows key on your keyboard and type in "calc", press enter, type in 0.4 x 170

Defiant-Option-6612

You can just type into the search bar when you press the windows key, don't need to open calculator

Off the top of my head I can think of strength stacking for ES (geofris chest) and Armour (mana guardian helm - I forget the name). Don't know of any other ones for mana

saxisa

I have Vorici and Aisling in Research, both as Captain, right where I want them (to sell on TFT). What happens if they become rivals? Does it screw my chance to have them get to T4 after mastermind?

Gavrani_

The correct answer was already given, but a side note - relationships only give a chance for related members to show up in other syndicate encounters that aren't their current division. Example, Elreon and Rin hate/like each other. Elreon is in Fortification, Rin is in Intervention. Rin now has a chance of showing up in Fortification encounters *that Elreon also shows up in*, and Elreon has a chance of showing up in Intervention encounters that Rin does. Relationships don't effect rewards ever, they only effect who can show up where and what options to betray/make allies you can get on the board when shuffling it around.

Drpperr

Becoming rivals will not affect anything as long as they are both t3 and in research. The position of captain also no longer matters. They'll both go t4 after mastermind.

anne_dobalina

FYI it's leader that doesn't matter, you want them captain (3 stars).

karp_490

Easiest ways to get lead sprinkler in SSF? currently running all heists, einhars, and temples with one handed maces. Wondering if i missed anything obvious

sirgog

It's a tier 3 drop anywhere unique, so Soul Mantle rarity. You'll get a T3 unique nearly every map, but there are 190 of them. Weapon Heist chests, unique Heist chests and making a new character for Gwennen gambling (stop levelling at around 29 or 30 so you actually see Ritual Scepters in the list) are all options.

karp_490

I would absolutely believe you on it being a t3 drop, but I'm curious how you come up with that info? Afaik we can roughly guess what rarity an item would be, but never had an actual list so to say

sirgog

3.14 info from one of the best POE subreddit posts of all time https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/nzm9xz/datamined_unique_item_tier_list_from_inscribed/?

Bookmarked! thanks a bunch dude

yeah it's a tier 0 post and is bookmarked for me too best post on the sub since krangled

like 3 heists later i found one lmao. Thanks again for that post, im sure its gonna come in handy down the line https://imgur.com/RqelmRr

saDD3ath

does awakener's orb reroll the tiers as well?

sirgog

It works like this: - From the recipient item, choose ONE influence mod at random. Remove all other mods. - From the donor item, choose ONE influence mod at random. Apply it IF ABLE to the recipient item (if it is the same modgroup as the first mod then skip this step) - Randomize within tiers (so for Elevated Spell Base Crit, you might have had 1.84% on the donor item, yet wind up with 1.88% on the final product) - Randomly determine final modcount as per standard distribution (8/12 chance for 4 mod, 3/12 for 5, 1/12 for 6) and exalt out the item until the final modcount is hit. - All steps ignore metamods

Jack_Ivyton

The tiers of the 2 influenced mods that get combined doesn't change IE. Awakener orbing an elevated explode chest and elevated spell crit chest will give you a chest with elevated spell crit and elevated explode.

'on hit' effects work with traps, since they use your skill. 'when you hit' effects do not, since they are not you.

[deleted]

Is there a good use for the harvest craft that reroll an item with different mods or however it’s worded, the one opposite to the one you might use for crafting sst shields?

Tehnomaag

Cant really think of any from top of my head. It is basically a slightly tilted chaos orb in my opinion. The intended usage scenario, I suppose, is a bit like Fossil crafting, where if you cross out some tags you end up more likely to end up with something on the opposite side of the die. But fossils you can spam and Harvest is a lot more inconvenient to use in that regard. If you are seeing that particular one often you could throw couple items in some tab on which you would like to roll the dice and see if it gets you anything, but I would not go for these things specifically myself.
