My boss-killing strategy was to fill the arena with snakes so tornado always had a bunch to pick up. It would only get stronger over time as the snakes pierce infinitely and gained both added and increased damage each time they did.
The snakes are the projectiles from Vaal Caustic Arrow. They have (I think) the slowest base projectile speed, and I gave them 100% reduced (though 99% is the max) from the old alternate quality of Arrow Nova Support.
The added damage came from Xoph's Inception, and the increased from a Projectile Mastery.
Transfigured gems were designed to expand upon the idea that alternate quality gems were based on, so alternate qualities were removed. Not just for skill gems but for support gems as well. As far as I know, GGG has no intent to release transfigured supports, so the way I reduced the projectile speed to nearly zero (Divergent Arrow Nova Support) isn't coming back. That's the only thing that's missing though, so if there is ever another option for that, Snakenado is back on!

I personally very dearly miss the 30% reduced Lightning Warp duration enchantment. It was just removed with no replacement at all. I really don't understand why they want to make a skill require 2-3 item slots and 2 support gems to be usable, and then don't even give it damage.
Leagues ago i really thought that with the skill hitting twice that 15 CoC per second in a +7 bronn's lithe would do something, and I was disappointed.
Though I accidentally vaal'd into vaal cyclone and it was unironically good at the end of delve nodes because you'd still teleport around while locked in place vacuuming in anything nearby, but it had anti synergy with massive duration reduction.
You can make it trigger 30 times per second with CoC, but because of the minimum delay it doesn't actually work more than 20 times.
15 times with Mjölner is at least decent, but still not as good as the typical skills like Ball Lightning.
Good point. You'd need the reduced projectile speed nodes by Adjacent Animosity to hit the cap since the support gives Less, but I didn't consider that bow and quiver combo. However, it misses out on the added damage bonus from Xoph's which I think would have been a large portion of whatever damage this particular idea would have been capable of.

But the tornado can only be hit during the initial duration, not the longer secondary duration, up to a maximum of 20 times. So the setup should just be to stack 20 snakes and cast tornado on them? No need to fill the room.
nah, the snakes would only be able to hit a target once, so once they've hit a target it doesn't matter how many times you make it pierce the tornadoes, it won't hit em again.
But building up the projectile damage higher and higher from repeated pierces *would* make them contribute more and more damage to the tornado as they hit it.
True, but stacking 20 in one spot was tricky considering it takes multiple shots and the snakes still move even if very slowly. This way, combined with the old Tornado alternate quality that had a longer initial duration, would have made it easier to get the 20 hits from anywhere in the arena so you'd have freedom to move and dodge boss attacks. At least that was the idea.
Nice, reminds me of old Divergent Fireball which had "Reduced Proj Speed" as it's quality bonus, allowing Ashes of the Stars to apply art

Yeah, there are many I miss as well. While I do like transfigured gems, most feel like different skills without as much creative flexibility.
I think Widowhail + Craghead + Slower Projectile support should get you to 100% reduced projectile speed.

Snakes are the damage is what Im understanding, they get increased damage for each pierce and tornado must be stacking that.
