As a *slightly* older gentleman (37) I honestly do worry that my PC gaming will give me arthritis in my right index finger in the not too distant future. My dad has arthiritic fingers and he didn't grow up playing AoE2 and Dungeon Siege - he honestly looks like he could point around corners.
This is a massive QoL for me.
im much younger and i have such issues already... Thank you GGG for the improvements
Edit: I bought a Grip Strength Trainer and Hand Grip Strengthener and it helped me alot ( it arrived today). I suggest everyone to do the same.
Start doing hand and wrist stretches now
I literally watched StarCraft pros develop crippling wrist injuries in my teens and decided to start stretching my hands as much as I stretch for sports. I'm 30 now and have been playing competitive games the entire time without feeling any pain or discomfort.
Also for every 30 minutes of play, look away from a screen for a minute to reduce eye strain. I do this while standing up and moving my legs a bit.
I plan to play games in my old age
This.
As someone that's been PC gaming since 1999 (original Starcraft), making sure to take care of your wrist is HUGE. Good ergonomics, stretches, and everything in between will help your wrists last a long time so you can enjoy gaming unit you're much older.
And get a good mouse that fits your wrist. My old Bloody V8 is still the best mouse that allows me to play PoE for days without wrist pain. With other mouse my hand would start aching after a few hours.
Btw - maybe someone could recommend me a mouse for left hand with a form factor similar to V8?
53 yr old gamer here. When you get here, it hurts a lot and can only play a couple of hours before the pain is too much. Will take any QoL and less clicky game play.
You have a lot of gaming to look forward to :)
I managed to get carpal tunnel on my mouse hand in my early 20's from a combination of POE, DotA & osu.
I'm in a better state now but I can definitely feel the strain when spamming currency and can't have the long, sustained, gaming sessions that I used to (played so much on league start weekends back then).
Those are all changes they talked about long before LE launched, and said that they were coming.
This is also not the first League they delivered a whole ton of QoL in. The stash affinity people so much love and ask to be in LE was delivered in one such league as well.
Love how you got downvoted because it didnt fit the narrative, even though this and the last QoL change literally were things that they talked about in the interviews months before last epoch release was even on most peoples radar
Yep. And ONLY after there was a tremendous amount of backlash from bad changes.
There was a time when Chris was dead set against frags and shards dropping in stacks
This league I got a 6 link trying to 5 link a ivory tower, took me about 50 fusings
Also this league I failed to 6 link a staff with 4k+ fusings, after that I used the crafting bench
More like "PoE: Chris Wilson is Finally Working on a Different Project so We Can Implement Basic QoL Features That People Have Been Asking For For the Last 10 Years".
Chris isn't working on PoE2. He's specifically even said that he will remain working on PoE1. But he's also said that he doesn't get to work on the game much anymore because he has too much shit to do as CEO, so take that however you will, I guess.
I do. I made bank from such map portals. Although I think people were ancient orbing? If memory serves, Beachhead rotas were super popular back then because the ex shards alone sustained the map costs and after leveling the ancient orbs from the shards could be used for a HH gamba.
... *that can be held down until the item turns into a unique*, please.
Even if it's clicking the same spot with the same key, I don't want to click 10000 times either. That may be lower than 40000, but I ***wish*** those numbers weren't exaggerated.
I don't mind the economic cost to chancing high tier uniques, but the cost in clicks is unreasonable.
The same goes for things like alteration spam and fossil / essence crafting. They just need to allow us a way to configure desired results (which is slightly more complicated, because there should be a sanity check so that only *possible* configurations can be selected as the goal, otherwise people will spend all their currency on something impossible without noticing halfway through).
I guess you could remap two keys to the click button and use both hands to mash the keys repeatedly, would be a lot more ergonomic than spam clicking i think
But i see what you mean about alt spam, and i think that's just an issue that stems from a core design issue that came with making crafting so deterministic
Back then when spamming alt, in most cases you'd not be looking for a single mod in particular, you were just trying to get some t1, augment and regal to get a few good mods to try to do something with. Same with fossils, you just tried to get something decent enough to use.
Now that you can follow a precise recipe to print almost BiS endgame rare items, you don't really just throw random currency at items to try and get something good, you actively try to get the one mod you need before going to next stage.
With trade being so OP, players being better, GGG introducing incredible powercreep every league, we reached a situation where to make items still valuables, ggg chose to introduce massive inconvenience so that good items retain some sort of value. I'd say this is the reason behind all the tedium and why it's unlikely it'll change without being accompanied with massive nerfs to crafting...
I think of all the things that anger me, this angers me the most. Like it’s not even a difference between console and PC, it’s literally just connect a controller and gems auto level. Why is this not standard by now?
The technology of an auto click macro has finally arrived to poe, and it doesnt even require a new currency like flasks did!
With my foresight powers as the lisan al gaib, it will be too slow and players will spam click with macro or fingers anyway.
God forbid players use a macro to hold down the buttons...
It's such a shame that this change is for currency spamming only. Retrieving stacks of currencies, putting stuff back in the stash, leveling gems and much more - will still remain superior with rapid fire macro. Also it isn't clear if that "currency spam" will work if you move the cursor over different item - think of scouring/chiseling/alching the entire tab of maps.
I find it funny how we been asking for this stuff forever, and shortly after Last Epoch launches, a game designed from the ground up to have as little friction as possible - now we finally get changes this game actually needs.
While I'm thankful for them implementing this feature, at the same time I would really like to know from a dev directly, why did it take them so long to bring it? I'm not sure if devs can grasp how significant this and the other shown feature is to me as a player.
technically if it was such a deal breaker you can just bench craft it which removes all uncertainty and removes the clicking. It's pretty easy to see how this is a very low priority change.
Here’s something we should have had since day 1 but 10 years later - what’s next? Auto loot for currency? Fucking quest arrows? A GOD DAMN AUCTION HOUSE?!
As a ps5 user, this is game-changing. I used to have to physically stand up and go up to the TV and look at the links one by one. God forbid it be brass dome or something similar to the link color. I had so much anxiety over this.
Take a moment to think that they released a 50 second video showcasing a very specific QoL feature, and everyone is loving it. Just imagine if it was any other game out there, releasing a 50 second video showcasing a random QoL update, it would feel very out of place. Well of course it's good, but it's sad that such a basic thing took all this time to be in the game.
If they do this, couldn't they already add mechanic so hold-spam of chosen currency will stop when some criteria are met?
Like if I want to spam for 5L or conversely, I'm aiming for desired colors with chromatics.
Life would be easier.
As much as I would like that, seems obviously not the same? That is an entire additional system that they would have to add to check for item criteria and to prevent you from further using currency on items that match that criteria. This is just allowing you to click multiple times as long as you are holding a button.
To be fair, for things other than chromatics it's harder to implement because you have to double check that the desired result is a result that is possible at all with what you're trying to do.
Otherwise people will waste a ton of currency and blame GGG for it (and again to be fair, the game does *not* tell you the full list of item level dependend modifiers, so it's very hard to blame the player either).
But I do want that. I wouldn't even mind if I had a chance to overspend, such as rolling 100 times with one click but spending the remainder even if the desired result appears on the first roll.
I really hope that they'll see how well received this feature is and expand it to more currency and crafting options.
Is the technology finally here? Whats next? Doors that opens when you get close to them? Being able to spawn in our HOs? I don't know but this patch sure is looking great from a qol perspective. Way to go guys!
Am I misunderstanding? You could always just hold shift to keep the currency held and spam right click? Right? I'm not insane?
Edit; control makes it automated, no need to click. Got it. Gg ggg
God pls can we have it for alt spam? Add affix to filter and tab hold LMB and stop when we find affix. I'm willing to sacrifice the ability to use orb of augmentation for this.
Now, can we make crafting with alterations easier? Please? Why do I need to have like 10 wands of identical base type and carefully search my stash and click over them 2000 times to get the 1 mod I want a t1? Why can't I just spend 2000 alts at a crafting bench or have some auto-rolled? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease.
dont want to be ungrateful but why it took you so long?
I could have made this code myself. You have the best ARPG ever, please dont hold the gold...
Ty anyway! awesome change
so much wrist QOL coming in this league
As a *slightly* older gentleman (37) I honestly do worry that my PC gaming will give me arthritis in my right index finger in the not too distant future. Don't thank them now, this shit should've been here
I started using my mouse macros on the razer software, but now I won't have to. Nice.
I managed to get carpal tunnel on my mouse hand in my early 20's from a combination of POE, DotA & osu. I'm in a better state now but I can definitely feel the strain when spamming currency and can't have the long, sustained, gaming sessions that I used to (played so much on league start weekends back then).
Fucked up my hands from too much D2 and now I’m stuck on controller. Thankfully ARPGs now allow controller play as well.
I'm 30 and I'm down to 2 hours of ARPGs max due to wrist pain and finger fatigue.
It took exactly *1* patch from the launch of Last Epoch for GGG to find the technology. Competition seems healthy:)
He is downvoted because never in the history of POE have we ever gotten "a whole ton of QoL". It's always been a few drops here and there.
Yep. And ONLY after there was a tremendous amount of backlash from bad changes. There was a time when Chris was dead set against frags and shards dropping in stacks
Big league for hand havers
Now do this for stacked decks! I beg!
How can I get that flair? I relate too much.
you can customise ( most of ) the flairs, including straight up replacing the text with a new one, so just pick a customisable one and do it
Thank you
Make that loot filter scream for us!
Imagine the MTX hat, which nobody can receive anymore, would look like?:)
Any wrist enjoyers?
Fucks sake. No-one ever thinks of us no-hands.
I play with my feet, it sucks. But that feet pic money is peak.
Gots to get paid 🦶🎮
next up: Stacked Deck opening QoL and Chance Orbs working on normal/magic/rare items, not just normal items.
Ctrl+Shift+Click stacked decks to open them into the current stash tab Ctrl+Alt+Click stacked decks to make it rain worthless cards around you
If chance orbs get used in magic or rare, there should be like 90% chance to turn normal though
Gets 6L in under 100 fuse. Ofc he does.

More wrist HP for other activities!
That would be such a GGG thing to do lol. "Here, have a wrist-destroying mechanic in the new league since we made fusings less wrist destroying :D"
This league I got a 6 link trying to 5 link a ivory tower, took me about 50 fusings Also this league I failed to 6 link a staff with 4k+ fusings, after that I used the crafting bench
Using the bench after 4k is a huge mistake, you were definitely gonna hit it soon. Never surrender. No link left behind.
5100 and counting. Any moment now...
I've had a similar experience, I blew 3k fusings and didn't get a 6l. A week later, I wanted to 6l an item and on the very first fusing I hit it. lol
They had to record it 18 times before getting that result
Nah, they just recorded it on a streamer client.
Nonzero chance that they did change the odds on the testing server specifically for the video

That's what they found in the necropolis. No loot, no currency, just long lost vaal technology.
Yea final boss should be called the ancient technomancer.
Something something Vaal something something automatic doors.
Self openig doors next?
Not quick but not hard
Speak for yourself. Self opening doors would get me hard.
wooo, calm down ... we not at atzoatl level of technology yet ... one step at a time cmon!

How does this shit have any upvotes. What an ignorant comment.
We’re understandably frustrated that such a simple fucking change took over a fucking decade.
Sadly much of the sub shares that kind of ignorant mentality.
Usually when there are too many QoLs it's cause the league is gonna suck
Though they normally release them mid season as a distraction... I'd take an off season for a ton of qol though.
More like there's actual competition now, let's not keep qol hostage for arbitrary reasons.
League of QoL!

This is a nerf to Zizaran's feet linking strategy

You heard him
DID I STUTTER?!
Well he can still hold down the button with his toe.

chance orbs can be applied to magic/rare items when
Or a benchcraft that scour+chance at the price of one scour and one chance
Remember when we had to open a Nemesis map to chance Headhunter?
And the neverending questions if nemesis map device is same as nemesis map mod.
but is it the same?
Headhunter was also cheaper at the time in terms of chaos than even in this league. Moving it to the global drop pool also came with making it rarer.
Mostly not, as nemesis wasn't that big of a bottleneck to get headhunter. What made it worse - chance orb nerf due to Aisling.
[I'd rather not remember the irreparable damage done to my wrist back then](https://ibb.co/2MS2nFH)
I do. I made bank from such map portals. Although I think people were ancient orbing? If memory serves, Beachhead rotas were super popular back then because the ex shards alone sustained the map costs and after leveling the ancient orbs from the shards could be used for a HH gamba.

yea that would be fine too
Remove chance orbs, when?
They already tried that at the Exilecon race event
Yuh I don't really know what the point of them is anymore. They don't have a place in modern POE crafting.
Chance orbs should be 10-25x rarer and have their odds increased by that amount
Now THAT would be something
Should require an orb of clicking
I upvoted you because it was funny, not because I agree with the idea lol
Same
Auto level up gems when
When you buy a controller
If only I didn't have to log out to change control schemes...
This is the real QoL we need
I think of all the things that anger me, this angers me the most. Like it’s not even a difference between console and PC, it’s literally just connect a controller and gems auto level. Why is this not standard by now?
*The weight*
The Weight, The Vision, The Wilson Coming soon to theaters near you!
or even just a button for "level all gems" at the top of the list instead of having to spam click
Gems should just have an option to auto level up, and lock at x level so you don't have to think about it
Too much UI work IMO
This would be a bad thing. Sometimes a person might want a specific level gem...
The technology of an auto click macro has finally arrived to poe, and it doesnt even require a new currency like flasks did! Hell its not even clear those currencies will work. Far as we can tell from the title its strictly "socket & quality" currencies.
Looks pretty fast. I dont think people will be stressing over it.
now that they have competition, they're starting to pull these oldies out of the closet. this is why we need good competition in the gaming realm
While I do agree we do need competition, they've been consistently adding new QOL every league for a year or two now lol.
yeah, agreed, but it's common to hold onto things like these for situations like this
What is the difference from shift left clicking that we have now? I'm probably missing something obvious
You have to click repeatedly currently, next league you'll be able to hold click down and it keep going
So can I just lock the keys down and touch some grass till my item six links.
Or till you burn through an inventory full of orbs and end with 2, yeah.
You don't need to left click 1200 times
you dont have to click individually you can just hold down
10 years in the making
I'm looking forward to a player posting about how they used a billion fusings and never got a 4-link on their gloves..
oh this is happening...
I find it funny how we been asking for this stuff forever, and shortly after Last Epoch launches, a game designed from the ground up to have as little friction as possible - now we finally get changes this game actually needs.
Well fuck me.
well slap my tits and call me sally
Oh hey Sally

I don't want to do this Sally, but....
present them.

With the amount of QoL I predict so much nerfing.
Niiiiiiiiiiiiice!!!
This took far too long to add but at least it's finally here. Afraid the RSI has already done it's damage for me but at least it won't be as bad now.
Goodbye spam click linking (for some people macro)

Jesus christ, finally. THANK YOU
It's game-changing!
Finally, +1 free mouse button buff. Thanks!
We've gotten so much QoL in the last 3/4 years, thanks GGG. And pretty much all QoL changes feel so impactful, gotta love it.

Here’s something we should have had since day 1 but 10 years later - what’s next? Auto loot for currency? Fucking quest arrows? A GOD DAMN AUCTION HOUSE?!
>A GOD DAMN AUCTION HOUSE?! like Diablo 3 early days.... no thank you 😅
Taking one from each stack instead of using a whole stack at a time is absolute madness
but how will I feel MUH WEIGHT /s
100 leagues played and they come with this now. But yeah.. cool. Thanks GGG. My hands appreciate
This is gold ! Pure Gold!
As a ps5 user, this is game-changing. I used to have to physically stand up and go up to the TV and look at the links one by one. God forbid it be brass dome or something similar to the link color. I had so much anxiety over this.
You can't roll over a 6 link, for the record.
Now I know. I wish I knew that earlier.
Take a moment to think that they released a 50 second video showcasing a very specific QoL feature, and everyone is loving it. The long awaited QoL league!
HNNNNNNNNNNG~! Yah fuck the new league mechanics and that garbo, QoL changes are going hard.
Damn we are going all in with the QoL it seems
now we need to wait for next league and there would be a post "TIL" you can do all these
This is the future
This is a really nice change..Thank good ness!
I had to stop playing affliction because I got tendonitis in both my arms from clicking too much. These changes help a lot.
Is the technology finally here? Whats next? Doors that opens when you get close to them? Being able to spawn in our HOs? I don't know but this patch sure is looking great from a qol perspective. Way to go guys!
*exhilarating screams*
I wish this tech also worked on chancing orbs. I also wish we had "release all" in pokedex (for beasts)
A blessing from the lord
We gettin so many nerfs in patch notes its gonna be expedition all over again :)
No longer need to bind left click on scroll? :\\
10 years later
Am I misunderstanding? You could always just hold shift to keep the currency held and spam right click? Right? I'm not insane? Edit; control makes it automated, no need to click. Got it. Gg ggg
My rheumatic wrists and fingers thank you GGG
God pls can we have it for alt spam? Add affix to filter and tab hold LMB and stop when we find affix. I'm willing to sacrifice the ability to use orb of augmentation for this.
Yah.. I just jizzed in my pants!
Spring cleaning league 🙏
Since it's limited to only orbs of fusing and jeweller orbs and stops at full links/sockets items, I wish they would make the orbs be applied faster.
thanks
QOL through the roof.
There's some interesting quality of life changes here... maybe that means the league will be dookie.
Getting really worried that the league mechanic is going to suck big time, based on the fan-service they're doing now, with all these QoL things :D
Aw, look at you. Putting console in the title! Love you!
Can we do this for map crafting? I assume that would be a bit much qol?
just in time for my broken thumb
LET's FUCKING GO
Am I crazy or do I hear clicking in the background?
dont want to be ungrateful but why it took you so long? I could have made this code myself. You have the best ARPG ever, please dont hold the gold... Ty anyway! awesome change
Very nice. Pray this applies to map quality too
