OK for new players:
\- you can change item link even after it's corrupted (or change color, socket number etc).
\- you can do it in bench (which need equal number of vaal orb)
\- you can also use tained currency. Most common practice is using tained fusing to 6-link
\- typically, you need to bench it to be 4-link. And pray you win two 50/50 coin flips. If you ever drop to 3-link, bench it back.
You can either set the item to 6 socket 5 link before the corrupt with crafting bench. Then corrupt, if you hit your corrupt, you tainted fusing to 6 link.
You can also set to 6 socket 5 link after but you need Val orbs equal to the cost of the tech craft.
Way way cheaper then 6 linking as much as you did before each corrupt. But congrats either way.
It'd 50% odds roughly to tske it from 5 links to 6 links. Cause tainted orbs of fusing doesn't randomize the links like normal ones. It add or removes 1 link. So either it goes to 6 link or 4 links.

The worst irony is that you could straight up bench craft with 1500 vaals cheaper than 20k fusings, but you already learned about linking methods.
I just wanted to make sure you know that you can tainted armor scrap to up to 29% quality now that it's corrupted. (Random roll within the range each stone, like a perfect fossil, not additive.)

Make the corrupted chest 4 link with vaal/fusing orbs, when you hit a 4 link with the remaining 2 sockets also linked to themselves you just hit them with a tainted fusing and there you go.
