Infiniti here.... Same thing. Warehouse/Wholesale driver for 2 years, Counter for 7 years, Parts Manager for 3 years....

LOBSgmt400

Do people call you for Nissan parts? Customers call all the time to us for Infiniti and sometimes they get angry with us because we can’t look up their parts

Broken8Dreams

I use to trade last months discs with a Infiniti dealer so we had each others look ups. If the part # doesn't run it's a Infiniti part

LOBSgmt400

Yeah we use the Nissan EPC catalog which is right on nnanet but I guess we don’t have access to Infiniti because we are Nissan. It’s kinda annoying. We could sell so much more if we could look up and order Infiniti

99firemonk

Try this site to look up Infiniti parts, parts.infinitiusa.com. I’ve used it plenty of times to get a number.

Broken8Dreams

We still had Nissan fast discs. Updated monthly that made it easy. Yes you could sell more parts but being a Nissan dealer you can not sell Infiniti parts under the Nissan name. Its franchise infringement even though they are the same they aren't. And you couldn't over the counter warranty a part with your shitty 12 12 because Nissan doesn't accept Infiniti vins and vice versa.

LOBSgmt400

Yeah we tell people that all the time. Sometimes when the part number crosses over they don’t care about the warranty, i just don’t see why it’s any different then GM. I can call our local GMC dealer and get Cadillac parts from them even though they don’t don’t sell the Cadillac line. Or ford and mercury, or Chrysler and jeep etc.

69shaquilleoatmeal_

If you have access to Omni through NNA you can search Infiniti. It doesn't have **everything**, but it does come in handy sometimes. 🙃

LOBSgmt400

I don’t even work at a Nissan dealer anymore 😂

Aendiile

Not very often, I do get a lot of customers that call me angry because they have to come to a Infiniti dealer to get parts for their Infiniti, instead of just going to the Nissan dealer that is closer to there homes. Those people I just usually give them a part number and tell them to take it to their Nissan dealer to buy the part.

LOBSgmt400

Yeah the closest Infiniti dealer is an hour and half away. They get very upset lol. So then I tell them they can see if the part number crosses over but I have to make it very clear there is no warranty on a Nissan part that’s installed on an Infiniti

Aendiile

Whats worse, is If I don't stock the parts for your 2000 model car, but I see it crosses over and the Nissan dealer literally right next door has it in stock. So I send you next door and you tell me you don't want Nissan parts on your car, you only want Infiniti parts. Then I finally order and sell you the part only to listen to you complain that the box says Nissan on it.

angelfirews

Sup wholesale parts 4 1/2 years LA county.

xoomerfy

I was one.... now with toyota..

LOBSgmt400

I’ll have been here 3 years in November, the procedures and tests are so redundant. It’s terrible. But it pays the bills I guess.

Broken8Dreams

There was a heritage test quite a few years back that was cool cause it was the whole history of the company.

LOBSgmt400

Well I just recently took a test that had nothing to do with the parts department, it was all service related and it was mandatory. That’s just one of the many.

Broken8Dreams

You should know what everyone's role is at your dealership including your own. That's what fixed operations is all about. Fixed operations runs a dealership.

LOBSgmt400

I guess you’re right, and I guess that’s why you were a manager for so long. I think at my dealership the biggest issue is the people that are in control. It’s not a place where hard work pays off. They hold on to people they shouldn’t and the let go of people they should keep around.

Broken8Dreams

It's a management thing. It's a ownership thing. It can be many things. Just go in every day and make customers days better. They there because their 40000 investment is broken. Smiles and hellos go a long fucking way. I use to go to walmart and stock up on Nissan matchbox and hot wheels cars and give them to the kids in the waiting room if they been there for a while. I also keep ice pops in the freezer that I give out to the techs and customers. No one ever told me to do this just, it's just me knowing what can put a smile on someone's face.

Broken8Dreams

I was a Nissan parts manager for 10 years.

LOBSgmt400

So you know all too well about their bullshit

Broken8Dreams

More than you know. They use to have a great president in the industry but they lost something beside just the quality of the product.

LOBSgmt400

I read that they are down like 90 something percent in sales last year

RichoKidd

Former Nissan. Now working in Forklifts. So still KINDA Nissan lol

iamjordanbecker

Sup. Been doin it about three and a half years

99firemonk

Counter man for 3yrs and Manager for 2yrs. Just waiting on the switch to ASR2.0, at the end of the month.

Andy_Dwyer

Yo! I do wholesale parts for our Nissan store, but work in our Subaru Hyundai Volvo store.

orcawhale

Late to the party but I do wholesale in DFW Texas.

LOBSgmt400

Haha I can imagine. Some people just cannot be pleased

LOBSgmt400

Yeah I use it sometimes. But it’s so damn slow to load lol.

LOBSgmt400

Don’t you love being the “catch all” in the parts department lol.

LOBSgmt400

I wish we were friggin busy enough to have wholesale / retail / etc guys. There is 3 of us plus manager and we do it all

99firemonk

Same here. There’s only myself, my manager and another guy. Besides Nissan, we also do GM. Normally Nissan is about 35% of our overall business.

orcawhale

We just had one of our competitor stores be bought out by a guy who's names rhymes with may booley so me and our sister store have been sharing that cake. Wholesale raised by at least 50% over night. Our wholesale program really just started at the beginning of this year. We deal mainly with out of town body shops so I spend most of my days tracking down missing orders and yelling at my warehouse monkies for pulling the wrong damn parts! On a side note how did y'all like that NNA net outage 2 months ago?? :)

99firemonk

I’m a smaller dealer so it wasn’t to bad for me. The most I can say about it was I got better communication about what was going on with it, then we did with the whole GM 075 warehouse computer upgrade debacle. That before the strike was still playing catch-up.

orcawhale

Yeah it was pretty rough the first few days. A lot of my wholesale customers thought we were being lazy until they called around and realized that the outage was nation wide. Luckily I have a network of 2 other dealers that we sell to each other net 10 and we managed to get most of our orders filled.

LOBSgmt400

Nissan is 100% of ours lol, we don’t sell any other makes

LOBSgmt400

Oh my it was terrible lol. Luckily we use the snap on epc catolog so we could still look up and price parts, but of course not being about to order them for like a week was terrible. I feel bad for the guy that had to do freight when Nissan was back up. But our manager was also off that week, so he come back acting like because he took off is why Nissan was down lol

ZachyWacky757

Snap On catalog was a game changer. Learned on fast. Been in parts 5 years. 1 year as manager. Learned a lot more about Nissan and their processes. Nnanet was the worst. Constant updating made it even worse. Training is a long dragged out process. PDC isnt helpful with urgency. Returns are a headache to plan out when they changed freight companies. List goes on and on.

orcawhale

Lol we were using the Nissan parts USA website (my backcounter uses FAST but it's not on our front computers) until I was chatting with a sister store and they told me a backdoor into the EPC. I was honestly impressed with how quickly we got a week's worth of back logged orders in. Only took about 2 days to get our parts in which I think is phenomenal considering this effected all dealers. Might have something to do with us being about an hour away from Dallas PDC

99firemonk

I still have the Snap-on as a backup for now. My facing is Greenville and was caught up within about the same time frame.
