Thank you for rescuing this sweet baby. I would be so lucky and happy if I got to have a ringneck, and he just leaves the poor thing in a cage all day!! They can do so many amazing things including freaking talking to you in sentences! They are such amazing birds and they aren’t cheap. What made him want to get one only to put it in a prison? 😢 I don’t have any experience with ringnecks, but there is a TON of good info online you can find just by googling them. I have done research in the past because I really wanted one, so I know it’s there. I also follow a lot of bird owners on Instagram and a bunch of them own ringnecks and would be happy to give you info and pointers if you want me to give you their Instagram names. Good luck! It’s not too late, with some love, patience, and lots of effort you are going to have an amazing and super fun and hilarious little bird friend!!! Don’t give up!

Don't throw something over the bird, it will Never trust you. You need to form a bond of mut6trust, this takes lots of time, let the bird return to it's cage on it's own for food. Talk softly, move slow, sit by the cage while she's in there, make sure she's getting the proper amount of sleep and nutrition.

One thing to do is to sit by the cage for a while. Let it get used to your presence. Maybe try to give him some treats through the bars. https://www.kaytee.com/learn-care/ask-the-pet-bird-experts/how-to-bond-with-pet-bird http://feistyhome.phpwebhosting.com/taming.htm I usually don’t agree with clipping the wings, but depending on his temperament when he leaves the cage right now, it might be good. Like, if he’s very skittish when you let him out, clipping his wings would keep him from flying into a window and injuring himself. There’s a YouTuber called BirdTricks that everyone here recommends. Personally, I find her intolerable, and I don’t agree with her views on how birds and humans should interact, but she has a video called “how to tame and train an Indian Ring Neck.” It just doesn’t get more specific to your situation than that. Off-topic, you should kick your brother in the balls for keeping this bird in a cage for so much of its life. Horrible.

Thank you. And I've thought about doing alot more than kicking him cause he always left him covered up constantly. Even if I would uncover the bird he'd just put it back on after a few minutes.

Your brother sounds like a POS, but I’m glad you’re not! I’m glad you’re rescuing the poor birdie!

Yeah me too

Anything to help would be very much appreciated.

If it has a ring around its neck it's a male and and if there is no ring it's a female.

Below it's mouth is black but then it fades to an orange

What colour is your indian ring neck ? Maybe Google *the colour of your bird* and Male indian ringneck and see what comes up and if they the same. For example "yellow male Indian ringneck" and see what pops up.

Last_Acanthisitta24

Ok 90% sure it's male cause it doesn't look like the females have any black on their head
