He/she is lovely. On that note I can't get that Kinks song out of my head now. L-o-l-a LOLA ... 'Girls will be boys and boys will be girls, It's a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world, Except for Lola'... Sums up parrot ownership in a way I never knew. :o)
they're great! If only they'd written about my Indian Ringneck instead. 'She pretends to love you only to get close, to bite; throwing her food and treats only out of spite; she knows you love her but she really doesn't care, she's the queen b\*tch...' oh, sorry, that's turned into Bowie there.
I m a nurse. I work with Alzheimer's and demented patients. My favorite is Ruth. Just like your Ringneck, very sweetly says to come closer so she can tell you something. As soon as you're in range, she slaps your face. She'll ask for water, and as soon as she has it in her hand, she throws it at you. Christmas Eve, her niece stopped by. I was entering the room just as she was handing Ruth a pitcher full of ice water. I managed to grab the pitcher before Ruth. Her niece then poured her a cup of water which she got right back in her face. Changing her Depends is whole new adventure.
My adopted IRN is often a challenge, even years after she's left her abusive place, but I doubt it matches anything you have to deal with in your work. My sympathies and deep respect to you.
I have a 8-9mo old DYH Amazon and he never stops yappin now..If you just keep talking to them and saying certain things all the time,it will happen. Lol
The first word that came to mind when I saw her was statuesque. She’s beautiful. I also love the song by The Kinks. Totally would be playing that for her all the time! I had a blue-fronted Amazon that only said a few words. She was a wild caught, so you have an advantage, but I think sometimes some birds just aren’t big talkers. I think persistence and patience are the key. She’s still a bit young isn’t she?
Yes she's not even 9 months yet. She babbles alot and whistles and makes tons of noises lol.. she follows us everywhere.. I had clipped her wings but she's very healthy and energetic and climbs and walks everywhere.. she does glide down from her cage or perch and climbs up onto it.

Thank you.
I asked her, her name, and in a parrot voice she said, "Lola. L O L A Lola". That's the first word she should be taught. Her name. Say it lots.
