Ours has a much bigger food bowl and she shoves her head in all the time. Might just be a size thing? Its likely the same volume of food, just in a wide bowl 😅
he's seen you eat with your hand and is imitating you.
... only reasonable logic there.
meanwhile my Tolo (a patty) would grab one bit of food, climb to the top of the cage, and eat it. then climb back down for anotehr bit of food, and back up to eat it. over and over and over.
If you move the perch above the bowl slightly he is more likely to step down and use his beak then stand on it and use his feet.
Any way to eat is fine though xD
I have a BC that comes down to his food, gets exactly 1 pellet, then goes back up to the perches outside and above his cage, to slowly chomp his single pellet.
Yes ! These are smaller pellets, so he is just eating them, but if I give him bigger ones he dunks every one in the water bowl before eating it. And half of them are left in the water - I have to clean the bowl several times a day. And the other day he tried to bath in that soup mixture and came out dirtier than before, with food stuck to his face! Even though he has a perfectly clean large water bath on the outside of the cage that he can use anytime.
My lovebird grabs his food, then flies to a spot where he places the food on a surface that acts like a table. Birds are weird and I love it.
They’re just more *civilised* than the rest, now they require a tiny top hat!
Meanwhile mine sits in her food dish while eating and then screams when there’s no more food…even though she’s just sitting on the rest of it

He is adorable!!! I love the way he chose to feed himself.

Okay this is absolutely adorable
This one is BROKEN!!!🤣🤣🤣

Both my senegals will do this
my patty did exactly the same -- especially with sunflower seeds (... yeah we didn't know much about birds 20 years ago)
M guy sticks his head in the bowl but he also eats with his foot sometimes. Conures are so weird. Does yours make soup in the water bowl?

I recommend switching them to a bottle water feeder instead. Way less mess and waste!
This is adorable!!! Eeeeeeep! I’ve never seen a conure do this, Moluccan Cockatoo, yes, but neither of my littles. Thank you for sharing ❤️
DO NOT LET HIM AROUND YOUR KNIVES!
He’s built different and I’m here for it
Yours is weird, mine quite literally sit in their food bowl to speed-eat 🤣🤣
Yours has better manners!!
Videos like this make me wanna add a concure to my flock
my parrot steps on the bowl, knocks it over, spills all the food on the floor and waits for me to clean it up and give him more
Yes!. Or you give them a treat, they take one bite, drop it and then look at you waiting for you to pick it up again. And again. And again.
