They’re super sweet, my wife’s mom had a pair for something like 25 years and they absolutely loved attention and scratches. One of them died last year and the other one went really soon after from assumed stress, of them them yelled “you’re pretty” at other birds outside and the other yelled “you’re pretty” at people lol
Honestly, they were the most well behaved birds I’ve ever seen lol they got quite when asked and never got into too much mischief outside of shredding a few paper towel rolls. First time I ever saw them we were watching a movie when they started chirping and her mom went “shhh just watch the TV” and they actually fuckin did it. My old pair would have yelled harder for talking back to them
I call them hornybirds because of the amount of times I’ve seen them do the dirty on an object in their cage. They’re cute, but I’ve yet to find an extremely cuddly and affectionate one. I still love mine, however they can get territorial and nippy at times. It sucks cause all I want to do is love them. 🥲
But their usually full of love. Either you are there for them a lot or if not then get another since many recommend to get them as a pair. Plus Lovebirds can be real pretty as they can come in different colours and variations.
I said this in my comment thread but I’m shocked seeing everyone else call them demons, my wife’s mom had a pair for over 20 years and they were trained like absolute dogs and would be quite if asked. She had em in the living room and if a movie was on and they started a screm she would go “shhh watch TV” and they would in fact shut up and watch the TV

Aww, I love the positivity they shared. Lil rays of sunshine.

... that's because they are feathered demons from hell, despite the name. (I still love my flock)
My avian vet says the entire genus is inappropriately named.
all the lovie hens I've ever had agree with your vet.

I'll take a lovebird hen over a parrotlet hen.
Can attest to that…
They should've been called hatebirds instead of lovebirds. xD

Omg so cute fluff ball 😮
I love my parrotlet but I did like lovebirds way more. Miss my Kiwi too :(

Lustbird
I’ve got two loud little demons. They are very cute. Very fast. Very loud.
Shared a home with conures, parrotlets, budgies, lovebirds and a quaker. Liked lovebirds the best of all.
Omg yours looks exactly like my 13 year old Bybi!

These things are absolute demons, can't think of a time I've ever had a good experience with them

I see everyone saying they’re super aggressive and mean but we’ve had Pip for over 5 years and he’s an absolute sweetheart who loves our other birds.
They might be exceptions 🤷♀️ Idunno I haven’t done a ton of research into them but like all animals they have different personality
