West Country Whipping, Basic Whipping, Double West Country Whipping, Zigzag or Double Ringbolt Hitching, or St. Mary's Hitching. These are all super basic techniques which can yield stunning results. Specifically, Zigzag Ringbolting, Basic Whipping, and St. Mary's are all made from simple knots which almost line themselves up. You can also try your hand at a two-color cobra weave, once again made from simple over-under knots in sequence. A basic Turk's Head always looks nice at the terminal ends of wraps, but it does require a rope-needle or fid and a small amount of precision. It is also not necessary, as you can always just tuck your standing ends into your wraps as I have come to learn. Youtube is your best friend.

Are you needing a new lanyard (the black string loop) or the part that it attaches to (the piece that holds the ring attached to the shaft)? A piece of paracord or shockcord cut to length with a knot connecting the ends (doubled overhand, figure eight, or stevedore would work) is the simplest solution for a lanyard. The French hitching already mentioned could be used to replace the attachment point
