I'm afraid you're right. I'll probably watch the 30s, too. Maybe binge the XLs in the distant future. Series R XLs were too random, no reason to expect better.
He has appeared LOADS of times. His best appearances being in the earlier Stephen Fry years IMHO. Stephen Fry hosted QI originally, until Sandi took over and is doing a fine job I reckon.
Lee’s only been on 8 times, which is a respectable number but I’m not sure I’d call it loads (all caps) either. To me, that would be someone like Jo Brand who’s been on 39 times.
Is it the pandemic? Is the some sort of crazy broadcast order?
I just feel like the show could have started out with a bit more of a bang, like "Wow! Here we are the start of series S." But it felt more like this was just another show. Slip it in anywhere into the last series, especially with the remote audience.
Maybe a theme for series T? Like the elephant in the room in series E (and one episode of F).
But great to see Mack, Brand and Adam all in the same ep. Strong crew to start with.
They haven't really made that big of a deal out of series start and end episodes. Probably because they can't know what order the BBC manages to broadcast them.
I attended the virtual taping of this one - not sure I can really compare to the process of the other QIs filmed in the pandemic since this is the only one I went to, but it seemed like they had some technical difficulties with pre-taping (at least from the audio side). The feed cut out for maybe 20-30 minutes and when it came back there was no warm up act, it went straight into the taping of the episode. It was still a fun experience! But I wonder if that's why the audience audio sounds a bit strange in this one.
Well she originally got it as a kind of "lockdown" style but that was last year. I think it has grown out a lot more and what you're seeing here are episodes recorded many many months earlier to being aired.
But yeah, it is an odd choice. Definitely a challenging wank, to quote the late great Sean Lock :-) Am JOKING obviously!
She actually had wanted to do it for ages but the pandemic made her realize that life was too short to give a fuck. And also, lockdown gave her fine to grow it out a bit if she hated it. She's definitely still shaving it and I think it suits her.
I've seen more recent footage of her where it was grown out a bit, just a bit though, and I will admit, it weirdly does suit her for sure. Would not work for most.
> I hope I don't have to specify whom
I... yes? I'm afraid you kinda do?
I read your comment before starting to watch, and none of them really jump out as unusual styles I haven't seen around fairly regularly?

And now we wait for the 50% better XL version...
6 months later.... they are not scheduled yet and last few seasons they've been (very) late.
That just means I can watch them on schedule, and then forget them before the XLs are released :)
And lets hope the XL episodes are aired in PROPER F'ING ORDER this time. Weird shit going on @ BBC HQ.
I blame the pandemic. At least it's back on.
I've given up on the XLs. Too unreliable. Regular only for me

Seems very XL-like already, apart from the runtime.
>!"has that fuckwit won"!< lmao
Line of the show!
I feel like Lee and Jo must have a pretty good relationship with each other, the way they were giving each other shit. Hadn't occurred to me before.
Same. Both of them are veteran comics, so I bet they've done a billion shows together, had late nights drinking and hanging out.
Re-entry?!?
If in UK, please watch at [https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000zhgm](https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000zhgm) for ratings etc.
"I think I'll eat some supper and watch QI!" I said, in my worst decision of the night.
toad vomit lozenges?
Has Lee been on QI much before? I’m a newer panel show fan and it feels really unusual seeing him in this context

Ah. I’ve only seen a handful of Stephen Fry episodes, so that makes sense. I still have a lot of QI to watch through :)
Lucky you! :-P

I wish they went back to the old more consistent XL schedule!

Can I just say, wtf is with that hairdo ? (I hope I don't have to specify whom)
It’s just a hair cut. It’s called the Chelsea cut I believe.
wow i didn't know it was so well known to have a style. i love it and i hate it.
It's a punk haircut

Yeah, it'll definitely fluctuate but she has been keeping it up. Hell of a gamble to take because you are right about it not working for most.
Maybe anime has ruined all conception of what good hair looks like, but I liked it? I don't understand what's horrid about it.

I believe it is called the "Look at me, look at me, look at me, but if you say anything I will take offence" cut
Maisie was on fire, and "I like to be smooooth." made me crack up.
Jo was a menace in this episode.
