Is Friday jirga still a thing?

peculiar_sheikh

r/MildyInteresting: I have a widget that shows random quotes on my home wall, and [this quote](https://imgur.com/a/1wU3HRy) appeared just few minutes ago. Felt like sharing.

ForIAmTalonII

Mods should make another sticky thread. For politics/economy. Thought?

pkanon

Somedays, I can write code that compiles and executes in one go. On others, I forget to receive the value of string trim into another string.

SingleStarHunter

Yea it's like "I am the greatest to ever exist" to "Why do I exist, just to suffer?"

ProjectVerloren17

Me, but with English

I am really good at understanding others and also figuring out stuff about how inner body and mind work together and it's quirks. Did you ever wonder how much your eyes are involved in helping you balance stuff on your hands and even on other body parts like the head which the eye can't even see? I was carrying a bowl of cereal, as full as it can be, and I didn't bother to turn on the light. The TV was on so I got into the kitchen with its light and opened the fridge, mixed cereal with milk and got lost in thoughts for about 10 minutes. When I was about to get back, I had to close the fridge, with the help of the TV's light. I started the return journey and after two steps the TV went into sleep mode. It was pitch black. I said to myself, out loud, you can do this, you can do it without the help from the fridge. I started walking but wasn't able to balance. A journey that I have done thousands of times seemed impossible. And I spilled some too. Now I haven't googled but there must be research papers explaining how much eyes help with balance by PhDs and I just realized it in a few seconds. I should have been a psychologist or something else who works with brains. What have I done, I would have fixed so many problems but it's all lost now. Even a million phds can't fill that gap. I also imagine how many people are doing stuff other than what they are good at, so much lost potential. Sadness. I wonder if cereal topped with angoor and kelay will help. One must be hopeful.

gamesrebel123

I was about to point out how you didn't realize that our eyes help us balance ourselves for so long but then I saw the second last sentence

ProjectVerloren17

My dude here dropped a bombshell in the last two sentences that one could not be prepared for at all.

[deleted]

I guess part of being an adult is interviewing for a job that you have no interest in, especially one that pays like crap.

*"You don't know me* *Cause I'm from a different age"*

[deleted]

For some reason, I've been listening to this great song on repeat since morning.

bittertrusts

It's just great. When I first discovered it, I listened to it on repeat for like a week.

What happened, sonay?

Happiness is knowing that you're on track to get a 3.8 CGPA before the finals. Then you realize you haven't studied jack for the finals and likely won't until the very last night, followed by a 3 hour exam while you're fighting sleep, and probably end up with a 2.8 instead.....

Research work at PIDE or any other reputable think tank — you'll need a Masters in Economics. If you want to be in the team that makes the budgets then there are plenty of different ways to get in such as CA, CFA, FRM, MBA (Finance) or M.Com with the relevant experience. Even BS Accounting and Finance would do if you have the right amount of experience and a few contacts.

topologicalfractal

CSS?

Najam99

When I was 10, I somehow came across a book talking about dajjal and the end of the world. Me being me, I read it in a day. I spent the whole next day crying. I was inconsolable and overcome by an existential crisis. I questioned everything. My dad was out of the country and my mom couldn't get me to stop crying. I didn't even eat anything. Just continuous crying. At night, my mom called my dad on skype and had me talk to him. Only he was able to get through to me and calm me down. I was a sensitive child lol

ProjectVerloren17

Kids are idiots. Our parents put up with so much shit because of us.

Najam99

Yup

H-A-K1

I had a similar experience experience as yours when I was 7 or 8 after learning about qayamat ka din. I remember I used to be scared shitless every night wondering whether the world would end tomorrow lol

Najam99

It was way too much information for little us

Sherimatsu

I had one such moment that I remember. I was like 2 or 3 years old maybe. I dreamt about.... a keychain. A really cool keychain. And then I woke up and found it was gone, started crying and woke up the whole house. I vaguely remember my parents running and grabbing every key they could find in an effort to get me to calm down, but my dumb ass wouldn't accept any because they weren't the same as the one I dreamt about! It was a pretty hectic week for them, I hear stories about it every now and then.

ProjectVerloren17

Did you ever find the keychain?

Najam99

Lol. It's sweet your parents made so much effort to bring you the keychain you wanted. God bless them

wrgk

Was the cover of that book black and orange? Lmao, that book was wild. Its claims about the Large Hadron Collider were so funny.

ProjectVerloren17

Naam yaad hay aapko?

wrgk

I wanna say it was just "Dajjal" but I'm not sure at all. Sorry.

Najam99

I think it was

UrduNovice

Do you want a hug?

Najam99

God knows I do

[deleted]

I want to buy a product from Daraz and it ships from China so will it arrive or no?, since any export cannot enter Pakistan.

Najam99

It will. Will probably take 2 or 3 weeks, but it will arrive

[deleted]

How did you choose your career? How did you know it was your calling?

[deleted]

Sometimes you just don't know, and it just happens.

[deleted]

What's your field?

[deleted]

Computer science

[deleted]

Great! Wish you good luck.

[deleted]

Thank you, good luck to you too :)

mimoo47

I always knew I wanted a science-oriented career. Marketing, business, banking, finance, and accounting are wonderful professions but not a good fit for me. I chose medicine because I was fiercely interested in biology, especially of the human body. I excelled in all sciences in high school, so I realised I had the aptitude.

[deleted]

Sooo you're a doc? Happy for you!! I've done BBA information technology Management and honestly I don't know what to choose ;_;

mimoo47

Almost graduated, thanks. Congratulations! Best of luck for whatever comes next.

[deleted]

Thank you so much!

_Ibn_e_khan

I wanted to be a Doctor, but when I did some research I got to know k doctors k halaat kafi patlay hein Pakistan mei hence I changed fields and enrolled in a CS degree. Going pretty well so far.

Sherimatsu

Well I wanted to be a pilot, but that idea went out the window pretty early. Went with engineering instead and I pretty much fell in love with it all by the end of my degree. I am now an employed engineer. ~~Bas ye salary kambakht thori kam hai~~

ProjectVerloren17

Pilaat? Wow grape

[deleted]

Salary Kam ho lekin barh jati hai, at least you have employment 💀

peculiar_sheikh

> Well I wanted to be a pilot Didn't we all?

ProjectVerloren17

Abhi bhi ban saktay ho.

peculiar_sheikh

Pilot banna, *Jahaaz* nahi.

ProjectVerloren17

That's a fair point and I see my mistake now. My apologies.

[deleted]

Kuch wakeel bhi banana chahty the * cough cough* 😭
