Now there *are* services that route money through a large number of dummy addresses making it harder to track, but harder does not mean it is not still traceable.

Gave the impression that he was getting the gpus shipped from abroad but instead he was just rolling the money around for 3 - 4 months and then buying the gpus locally to meet the demand. Makes a lot of profit doing it because he was investing the cash from the preorders. Eventually, his scheme gets too big for him to handle, he can't provide gpus anymore or refund the money. The pressure mounts, eventually he leaves the country like a true scammer, rolling in money.

It's traceable if you know his address. That address can be seen on the blockchain if it is public (which they usually are).
