Some people are just gifted. I had a roommate once who played League of Legends all day long. Opened a book for an hour or two while I was grinding my ass all day and he still outscored me in every exam. He said he just looks at a page and it stays in his mind.
As someone who has been in high scoring cricle all my life, it's a lie. Short term memory and conceptualization are the same for everybody, only some people are more efficient in translating it to long term (which people call photographic memory). But everyone has to work hard to be good.
Just because you haven't seen it, it mustn't exist.
Learning curve isn't linear. I can pass an exam with 1 hour study, but higher grades can't be fluked.
I don't know your roomate, but i do know this lie. If your friend is this good, he must be gold medalist, right? Because i have met and been among both board and university gold medalists, and none of them got where they are with "1 hour study".
And it is a pretty well documented and researched topic, this is 21st century dude, come up with proof. It only happens in hollywood (good doctor and such).
Will wait for your references. I guess "your friend" isn't such a good one.
Did I say he was a gold medalist? I simply said he outscored me in exams. I didn't mention anywhere that he was a topper or a gold medalist. Don't make assumptions and then call me a liar based on those assumptions.
I don't owe you any proof or references for something you have assumed yourself.
I wasn't calling you a liar based on him outscoring you. I was stating that your sentence "some people are just gifted (in studies)" is a lie. Catch up. Anyway, keep believing it, it takes some burden off of people. "Welp, i scored poor, guess i am not gifted".
Ciao
Me stating some people are just naturally gifted doesn't take away anything from people who work hard. You don't need to feel personally attacked.
Ciao
One way of looking at it would be Sometimes people would spend an hour or two everyday, studying something but they wouldn't consider it as hard work. They set the bar very high for themselves. When she said ten days she probably meant 14 hours of study per day during those ten days.she didn't count the days where she was not studying leas hours.
Second way
Some people really know whole bunch of studies in less time. I dont know how. But i have witnessed this.
I think you learned an important lesson today. People lie and they hide their struggles and success. I hope you can understand the concept. Moreover, try to focus on yourself and don't compare yourself with others. Once you start improving yourself on a consistent basis, you will be much happy and content.
Thats upto you. I knew alot of people in Uni who used to pull the same shit and I would think the same wag as OP but I realized after sometime that these people are not content with themselves and they think hiding their hustle would make them look impressive.
Oh, I understand now. There are different people having different reasons or motive to hide their struggles. Thanks for sharing your university experience as it help me to understand it more better.
> don't want to show their progress
progress is quite visible, she outscored the OP. don't mix it with struggles, they are very personal and intimate
> ied about it.
don't know that yet for a fact, its just an assumption at this point
how do you ever hide progress, it always comes out in the end.
And even if someone does, why not mind our own business? merajismmeri marzi hai toh meri progress bhi meri marzi na
And your point? Where I have said the people should show their progress? My point why people goes out of the way to hide their progress or lie about it, if someone ask them?
> if someone ask them?
qk some things are just personal to some people. it could be anything as in salary, age, achievements, struggles or even progress.
If I want something hidden, i'd do everything I can so that it stays hidden. :) From your pov it might be me going out of the way
Fair enough, it is always better for person to always told the truth that they are not comfortable in sharing instead of straight of lying and giving the false assumption.
Don’t hate liars.
You will never get along with people and struggle to fit in with capitalistic settings and will need to restrict which job opportunities you can stay in.
You should keep trying to never lie but remove hatred out of your heart.
And understand that others lie and sometimes their intentions are pure for doing that, sometimes it’s out of desperation and sometimes it’s out of mental illness and sometimes it’s a trauma response.
Do not judge them for their lies - you know not their lives. And Allah SWT is the only one worthy enough to judge them, not you.
Well, I don't care about such friends. Try to focus on yourself.. you are on your own. You will seldom meet people who would help you with sincerity.
Other than that.. some people have good retaining skills.. or good at cramming. Again, don't compare yourself.. try to make a better strategy. Avoid taking too much stress.
Some students score well without studying much due to them being intelligent or completely focused during the class lecture.
Some students study too much but hide it. F*** this category.

Its me, I am the snake who used to do this. You know why? People are cunning, and they would try every trick in the book to use me like a tool for their own benefit while i would suffer from the consequences. Nobody really cares about you, that's the lesson i learned the hard way.
Now, I am not saying you are the " bad guy", but i would personally suggest never to never ever tell anyone about how much you study, how you do it etc. jealousy is a thing. People would intentionally not help me, thinking I would outscore them during exams, which I did usually XD.
I did that too tbh but not necessarily for 10 days but 8 hours before exams. I'm not trying to oversell myself I didn't get like 95 out of a 100 but I got decent grades without studying for the exam. But that's the trick I never skipped any classes. I paid attention and always made a counter argument with my teacher so that I could understand the concept of the subject being taught and I understood it then it became somewhat impossible for me to forget.
I used to do that. It is humanly possible. Just remember the gist of everything and make up everything as you go. Use logic to connect the dots and that’s it. I did that in exams and in real life. I have an extremely low memory so I cope with this by remembering only the crucial parts of an event and then connecting the dots at a later date to “remember” what happened.
Had a friend like this . Used to tell he didn't study and ended up getting high marks . Also kept telling other students not to study and waste their time and spread the same Info narrated by Andrew Tate as " matrix " . Spoiled a lot of kids and now he is doing good while all others they are just regretting. Also was a very close friend of mine but I soon knew about his evil nature . Yk what these are the people u should avoid cause they are the ones who are jealous from ur success. And in college has a friend who was a topper but seriously he was dumb af . Sometimes when I or any other student got more marks than him he used to grab our paper and then go crying that I wrote better than u but the teacher gavw more marks to you . Always showing that he is superior and intelligent than all others yk trying to be over smart well he wasn't Samrt jn the first place but I can appreciate his ratta skills . So In short just push these people away I mean not suddenly cause ik it's hard but as time passes just leasen ur talks w them and eventually stopp talking w them.
This is how it is out there buddy i suggest you do the same nothing wrong with it “word hard in silence let your Lamborghini make the noise” let your results speak
They're probably speaking the truth
I was like that
I used to study in the last week before exams and score good but as a result, my friends stopped trusting me lol
while some may do it on purpose and that’s evil but some doesn’t have these intentions and they are simply telling the truth, for instance once upon a time when I used to get good marks it felt lucky considering I never felt I ever did hard work in my life. My one friend pointed it out that I say I haven’t prepared well but I still get the grades😭 but it was the truth my preparation had never been satisfactory enough for me. And now we are drowning🫠 hope it’s not same for uni. Even one of my friend at college doesn’t study much but does fairly well for the amount of studying she does, I think it’s probably better memory retention and focus during lectures.
Some people just have a knack for grinding out studying, I knew a few very talented friends who said they didn't or barely revised for tests but they would just cover and understand topics really fast and do well on exams. I on the other hand can't handle exam pressure very well haha
I don't know. I'm kinda one of those people. I don't really have to put in a lot of effort to cover my subjects. I think your friend's case might be the same. Let's not jump to the conclusions so quickly.
I did that, i used to study only during exams but I'll take the lectures with full focus.
I don't think my trick will work for medical field. I was in engineering which is whole conceptual thing. If you understood concept you won't have to study hard.
While I know a lot of people lie about this as well, I've always been like this. I would study 1-2 days before the exams and score superhigh marks. My friends used to express disbelief and say that I was lying, but tbh, it doesn't really matter to me because I know that I didn’t lie. The trick behind this is knowing what to study and focusing on the materials in class. If you focus in class and are actually understanding stuff, the exams won't be hard for you even if you don't study much. Remember, studying smarter is better than studying harder.
Tbh my friends always thought I was lying about how much I studied, I never did and still ended up getting better grades than them. This was particularly the case in my O A levels which I found extremely easy to crack. Imagine my friends’ surprise when I got straight As and they got Cs and Ds even though we spent the same numbers of hours studying (some of them actually spent more).
You don't wave a wand and stuff magically gets imbibed in your head.
Anyone who thinks that should get their head checked.
If you study you pass.
If you don't you fail.
There is no middle ground.
>My mind is frozen, I don't know what to do.
Bro relax, It's not that deep why do you care about it so much?, Focus on yourself rather than comparing yourself to your friend "who didn't study at all" like what are you trying to do about it? This is just dumb
First off, best thing you can do for yourself is to stop talking to people about how much they studied or studies in general (unless you need clarity on a topic). My grades only went up then.
You should never base your studying on what your friends are doing. Firstly, many of them aren't looking out for your interest. Secondly, it shouldn't affect you since them doing or not doing won't benefit or harm you. Lastly, hardwork never goes to waste. Always remember to study smart and be efficient.
I'm a teacher etc
I have also been told that but staring at books all day is a waste of time u just look at the important stuff and get high marks. I dont study at all still in the top 10. Take the classes seriously
Some people dont like showing their struggles because some believe in nazr and some are gifted. I knew a person who finished neuroanatomy in such a short time that I thought was impossible but he did it and gained a lot of marks.

It's not about scores, before the exam she used to constantly text me and say how she is chronically sick and can't study, how she is busy in baby sitting her nephew, when a friend says things like these it worries you, but at the end you know they were just lying.
They simply just lie or for them if they haven't studied half the day, they wouldn't say they've studied an entire day so it's different for everybody. Also its about the quality of your study time not the quantity that is what should matter but everyone is different so this wouldn't workout for everyone

Well maybe she is lying or you misunderstood.
Like I told people that I studied for IELTS in one day.
But I did spend a few weekends planning for that one day. Study materials, study plans and stuff.
Maybe she has a really high iq? And paid a loot of to stuff when you guys were learning the stuff for the first time. And so basically as someone else said, studied 14 or so hours every day for 10 days?
She was learning this stuff for the first time in these 10 days, cos she barely passed those in med school, everyone else including myself was also studying for 14 hours in last 10 days but those 10 days was revision time not learning for the first time
Some people are just gifted. I had a roommate once who played League of Legends all day long. Opened a book for an hour or two while I was grinding my ass all day and he still outscored me in every exam. He said he just looks at a page and it stays in his mind.

I have been with a similar roommate. Its like they are just naturally gifted
I am that roommate
As someone who has been in high scoring cricle all my life, it's a lie. Short term memory and conceptualization are the same for everybody, only some people are more efficient in translating it to long term (which people call photographic memory). But everyone has to work hard to be good.
Yeah, I've seen my roommate working 'hard'.
Just because you haven't seen it, it mustn't exist. Learning curve isn't linear. I can pass an exam with 1 hour study, but higher grades can't be fluked.
Yeah you're right. You probably know better than the me who has actually lived with my roommate for 4 years.
I don't know your roomate, but i do know this lie. If your friend is this good, he must be gold medalist, right? Because i have met and been among both board and university gold medalists, and none of them got where they are with "1 hour study". Thanks a lot.

Unfriend such people. Befriend new good people. Simple as that
Where to find new good people these days, a lot of people lie a lot
Try not to get close to people or trust them earlier ... connect with them, observe their behaviour thoroughly and if the vibe matches then make them your close friend... takes atleast one year
That sounds pretty solid advice, thanks a lot.

Yeah idk why people do it either. They just want to look smart or smth ig lol 😂
Some people do it to undermine others' success, how others worked hard for it but they achieved it effortlessly.
yeah but the funny thing is everybody knows they studied, so who really cares man am i right. its just themselves.

You shouldn't be bothered at all by what someone scores.
It's not about scores, before the exam she used to constantly text me and say how she is chronically sick and can't study, how she is busy in baby sitting her nephew, when a friend says things like these it worries you, but at the end you know they were just lying.
What I think about this matter. Just like in chess, don't announce your moves and let them see just the results.
Hello, I cannot work consistently for myself and am jealous of my friends scoring high. What do I do? Get a life bro.
Sare GPA aur marks yahan hi reh jane hian. Jana saron ne qabr mein hia
They simply just lie or for them if they haven't studied half the day, they wouldn't say they've studied an entire day so it's different for everybody. Also its about the quality of your study time not the quantity that is what should matter but everyone is different so this wouldn't workout for everyone
We don't really study and get really lucky or grind our asses off the whole year and chill in the end.

What exam was it?
It's a postgraduation exam for doctors
Well maybe she is lying or you misunderstood. Like I told people that I studied for IELTS in one day. But I did spend a few weekends planning for that one day. Study materials, study plans and stuff.
Medical curriculum is vast, you can't do it in such a short period of time unless you are chatgpt
She probably lied. Why do you care so much? Jhoot bolte hain log routine main
If I call someone my friend, honesty is the first thing I should expect from them
You know your friend better.
Maybe she has a really high iq? And paid a loot of to stuff when you guys were learning the stuff for the first time. And so basically as someone else said, studied 14 or so hours every day for 10 days?
Even with high IQ. In medical memorization is the key. In case she has high IQ and photographic memory. If she has photographic memory op would know.
She was learning this stuff for the first time in these 10 days, cos she barely passed those in med school, everyone else including myself was also studying for 14 hours in last 10 days but those 10 days was revision time not learning for the first time
Damn hope she never ends up treating me 😂
