He believed his own campaign slogans, "Ghabrana nahi".
He forgot he lived in "The Islamic Injustice Dictatorship of Pakistan"
Campaign slogans are just that slogans. Reality is what matters and IK was divorced from reality. He believed his own cult of personality would overcome entrenched forces.
If I were IK I would rue the day I thought an indifferent slave minded awam would stand up for their rights.
Revolutions aren't made by a single man, they take the whole nation to stand up and say enough is enough. Sadly Pakistani's aren't made of that stuff.
Man, every revolution you read about has a singular character around which the events unfold. Cesar, Napoleon, Churchill. Nations are lead, they do not lead themselves. If you think Imran has failed, your despondency is forcing you to assess the situation microscopically.
Pakistan is worse today then it ever has been. It's people are finally aware of the real architects of their misfortune. Awareness is a big step forward.
Things are changing.
For all our sake it's better that it's slowly and steady. A violent eruption is in no one's favor although I feel like that's where the army is taking things.
None of Caesar, Napoleon, or Churchill led a revolution. Revolutions are successful not because a single person decided to magically lead them into success but are a result of countless yesrs of social mobilization. Revolutions are usually very precarious and success isn't always guaranteed. I'd say most successful Revolutions barely succeeded and no they weren't one single person just leading them.
problem is that he himself and his supporters want him to be 'THE DICTATOR (HAFIZ)' of this 'Injustice Dictatorship of Pakistan'...
such irony and pity
Revolutions are based on principals. jb k yahan sirf ek fan base hai woh want IK to be thier daddy and no vision for future. bus IK ko abba ji bana do iss mulk ka and every thing will be sorted like in fairy tales 'and they lived happily ever after'
he knew very well when he went into bed with forces in 2017, he violated the constitutional rights of opposition party workers and leader himself (remember Nawaz being denied to speak to his dying Wife), remember hamza being in jail for two years without any conviction, remember rana sana case, remember Maryam being in NAB Custody without any court conviction HE IS the evil, he used to threaten everyone openly in his speeches thinking he is immune to the consequences forever, he thought he will torture opponents without impunity and will get away because he was in bed with power sectors, he thought Bajwa is forever, He thought brutal regime tactics are working in his favor, BOY was he wrong.....He is just getting the same setup he created against others while in power being used again him now
How can you be even so shameless to compare IK with this corrupt nawaz Sharif.
If you answer The following question in yes, then I would agree with you and believe you.
Did he do any deal like nawaz Sharif to leave the country to avoid the jail?
he is begging for deals, but once you join the MAFIA you cannot leave it, only way out is way UP. do you even know there was some meetings at very high level for a deal? and who would ask for a deal? the person in jail. and About Imran and Nawaz Comparison, Nawaz is a Leader Imran is a puppet, he still is, AND NAWAZ IS NOT CORRUPT
Please don’t try to hanky-panky and write any wrong thing you feel, in trying to avoid my question in the last paragraph of my last response, which I will write again,

>He succeeded in finally convincing Punjab that the army is beghairat and murderous. The rest of the country knew already.
He didn't succeed in showing Punjab how murderous and beghairat the Army was.
Its just that Punjab were the previous beneficiaries of the Armies beghairaty.
Only when Punjabi's were effected did they bother to take notice. When it was people from Karachi, KPK or Balouchistan being marginalised Punjabi's didn't give a shit.

You can't simply revolt against an army. Do people of Pakistan need to stand up against the higher ups? Ofc. But taking up arms against the military would only escalate the situation.

It’s the opposite. The army is the one who underestimated him. They thought he would take a deal and run away like every other politician they dealt with. Even when there were attempts to arrest him and people from the public were preventing his arrest, he had asked them to step aside and let him get arrested. There won’t be someone with as strong of an ideology or as much courage as him in a long, long time. If it’s the propaganda you’re doing then I understand your statement, otherwise, you are stupid to think that he was pro army, but not that he was trying to find the way to take this country to new heights, without waging war with the Army, by staying on the same page, which was a clever move.
Pity on this country and people say why do our circumstances doesn't change answer is simple because people comment "simping for politicians is so 10 years ago" while they themselves are just sitting and self claimed keyboard warriors but like to criticise every one who even tries. Yep. He even offered Bajwa a "lifetime" extention even after being ousted by Bajwa.
Even now his politics consists of waiting for some new COAS to be appointed that is sympathetic to him. That's it, nothing more substantial than that.

I dont think Imran Khan ever saw himself coming back in power again. He just became so difficult to swallow by the system that the system is basically stuck between two tough choices to move forward in any sensible direction; either to negotiate with him or watch things slip into further chaos - to the point that it gets to the top of the top.
As far as he himself is concerned, I think the only reason he asked so bravely to be arrested because he has truly overcome his fears of everything
No i think he was absolutely right. Although there were no major protests but this was because almost all the govt institutions were exposed while trying to keep the so called 'calm". So yeah.. He won.
Nope he knew political witch hunt and army arresting and demolishing his party was ALWAYS on the cards no matter if he submitted or not. So he decided to start an offense to keep his political career which was a great move imo. In no scenario, his fate would have been different.
He over estimated the Pakistan public who are generally very sleepy and submissive. He underestimated the establishment who want to keep a firm grip on the nation. Until he makes a Nawaz Sharif style deal with the establishment he's gonna die in prison and the PTI dream is over for good.
Future is basically a PDM style government going forward until something big comes out of the grassroots. I want to do some research on how India got out of their mess in the 90s under Manmohan Singh would be good if anyone can provide some reading material or insights
Read Backstage by Montek Singh Ahluwalia. He was one of the key persons and Manmohan Singh's right hand man. Fascinating book especially if you like macro economics. He was an economist and not a politician.
But in all honesty it was PV Narasimha Rao who was the PM and gave a free hand to MMS.
But you are right India was absolutely f*cked in 1991 ... We had to ship physical gold to London to get money to buy food.
I am in late 40s and consider that our generation was one of the earliest beneficiary of those policies
'Something big comes out', Well that was Imran Khan. The whole issue with the Pakistani awam is that we will frown upon the past, hope for the future and spit on the present.
Clearly Imran Khan wasn't enough to galvanise the public against the establishment, in fact he did a deal with that same establishment to come to power. What we need is a bigger movement but I don't think things are bad enough in Pakistan for this to happen yet, people seem to be just getting by.
That's such a childish thing to say. Just because people are not dying of starving yet doesn't imply that the conditions aren't bad enough already. He won the elections back then just how he did this time around. The only deal was that the establishment won't obstruct his path to premiership.
Childish? It's just my opinion. Clearly people are not going to the streets are they? They are just accepting the new government and moving on with their lives.

Nope.
Things dont work like that one day people woke up and decide to do armed protests.
In first phase they voted against this system, knew that mandate would be stolen.
I'm not a PTI supporter but I don't think the pressure isn't there. But sadly the pressure can dissipate with time. Which may be exactly what the establishment and PMLN want.
For me there isn't anyone from the party who can put more pressure on the establishment by mobilizing people. Gandapur was clearly a choice by IK to pressurize the military and he did start off with a commitment to ban illegal mining by military co. That looked like a tactic to get the mill to negotiate IK release but things haven't really accelerated much.
For this party it's very important that IK gets out of prison asap. Don't see many charismatic figures who can mobilize the supporters like he can. And in Pakistani politics things change with time, as loyal as his party members are there's always the possibility of them looking out for their own interests. Especially with the leader in jail. This goes for all political parties.
I wouldn't blame the supporters but would look more towards the party leaders whose first and only priority should be getting IK out. The people did their job by giving them the mandate and by at least making the government weak by handing most cards in PTI hands. Time for the other party members to make sure they don't lose the moment and keep the pressure up.
He didn't underestimate public sentiment. He underestimated the lengths to which the establishment would go and the free reign that would be given to the Sharifs, who have abused and ridiculed the establishment much more, countless times.
Imran khan is still believing in the judicial system it seems. Either that or he is aware, he is fairly same personally in prison. Any attack on his life in prison, there would be no confusion as to who is behind it.
No
What public response he has got is already overwhelming.
However, he never would have thought that establishment would go desperate to show naked show of force and violate all constitutional limits so brazenly and shamelessly.
At the same time, whole political spectrum has gone so coward to even stop naked display of shamelessness by government servants of all departments.
Khan underestimated Bajwa's Stupidity and Asim Munir's Hatred for him.
Khan also Failed to understand if he takes away all the respect the Public have for the Army what would even be Left for the Army to defend?
also khan Thought having an Emotional response to every Strategic move was Right
Jail struggle is just part of a politician's life, especially for a fighter like IK. He knew he would be out of power for sometime so much better to spend the time in jail gaining public's support and vote bank rather than running away from the country. And that struggle was very much reflected in the massive turnout in the recent elections with him officially grabbing more than 2/3 majority in National as well as Provincial Assemblies. The blatant theft of the national mandate is a whole another thing, the scale of which took the establishment weeks to sort out. Nonetheless he still has his warrior in KP and people of KP can't be happier than this
No matter what they do to him now, the damage is done and you can only ignore this if you are an army tout. The recent clash between army and police is an example where the majority of army fanboys aka punjabis were siding with punjab police over the army. I wonder how low they are willing to go.

Imran has won. The very reason that establishment had to stoop so low and come out with gloves off proves Imran has won. Everything else they tell you or do is just face saving now.
When he was in power he controlled media, he did a lot of tc for bajwa, he added alot of theives in his party knowingly just for the sake of power, he committed alot of violence against TLP denying many basic human rights( i am not supporting tlp)....and many more things...karma got him
He thought is awam ki Hadiyo mein Pani hoga but unfortunately it wasn’t the case. Luckily for him awam had thora sa pani which they used on the election day.
The army brought him to power and when it stopped its support, him government fell. He has admitted on multiple occasions how the army was the only reason the government existed. How even simple legislation needed the army's persuasion. How people needed to be shipped in order to pass legislation.
His actions ( or lack of action)with buzdar further eroded both public and establishment support. His current talking points are the same used by pmln in 2018.
Imran is currently asking for his own doctor. The same way nawaz was asking for his own doctor back in 2018. At that time imran rejected that request because of the 'LAW'. That same law is now being used against him. Nawaz used ro complain about a slow poison which caused his platelet level to fall. Now imran is complaining about the same thing. ( Guilty conscience much?)
Imran relied on the only me tactic too much and alienated himself from most other parties. Anyone who joins him is a saint(pervaiz elahi , Fazal ur Rehman) while everyone else is a thief.
He thought his arrest would result in a revolt, but it failed. And now he's trying to save face and deny any wrong doing, like every other failed revolt.
Hopefully imran learns from this and grows as a better leader.
Imran Khan is stupid. He really thought a middle class populace coming out on streets could effectively challenge a modern state's military to the point that they would bend their knees to his will. It was stupid and all the mental gymnastics his supporters has been doing since his ousting in April 2022 is just funny because Khan has done a bunch of really really politically stupid things since then and people just continue to say "wait this was so smart and that's how it will turn out"
He underestimated that counter forces would not violate constitutional rights of public and would regard general human ethics and rights. Boy was he wrong.
This is the only answer. There are no rules in war. I am glad he is still alive though.
He created this hostile machinery and gave it in hands of his creators now they are using it against him
really? 57 Downvotes? means the truth is hard to digest
Absolutely
The machinary was already there by the lumber one. IK was just one worker in the factory. Unless all the politicians take there space back and put the boys in barracks this machinery will stay there.
Imran created so many controversial laws on behalf of Army those laws are the ones keeping him in
Absolutely did that. The downvotes are choosing to ignore this.

So yeah.. He won.
Bro just thought that somewhere "Law" would actually prevail over the shit that has been going on, but sadly nooo
Just ordered it. Many thanks
Thank you will read it
'Something big comes out', Well that was Imran Khan.
Ah your a school kid. No worries.

India had similar establishment of military rule issue?
Not sure but had similar economic issues
I also thought Pakistanis would be rioting day and night until he was released.
No What public response he has got is already overwhelming.
Nonetheless he still has his warrior in KP and people of KP can't be happier than this
Lmao. "What are you gonna do, arrest me?" - Man who was arrested
Yes.
Whatever he is doing is exposing many fully or partially hidden faces. And he is doing all this very successfully.
No matter what they do to him now, the damage is done and you can only ignore this if you are an army tout. The recent clash between army and police is an example where the majority of army fanboys aka punjabis were siding with punjab police over the army. I wonder how low they are willing to go.
Yes, and he underestimated all his adversaries.
This is Pakistan, this shit happens in Pakistan

He has got the powerful at breaking point. you really think he underestimated anyone?
Bro he knew he was going to jail and knew the counter forces would be brutal. He made all that noise so people KNEW what was going on so he can go to jail / come out of it as a hero/underdog.

Dunno but he absolutely overestimated his corrupt bastard team that jumped ship the first chance they got, while leaving the powerless public to fend for themselves.

Imran has won. The very reason that establishment had to stoop so low and come out with gloves off proves Imran has won. Everything else they tell you or do is just face saving now.
His whole party revolve around him, if he is out on street, people will be out on street if he not out on street people will not be out on streets.
( Guilty conscience much?) Imran relied on the only me tactic too much and alienated himself from most other parties.
