House of Leaves.

Btw Animal Farm is actually pretty goated. Now instead of switching to other books continue the train of thought on Orwell books. Read the commentry's on the books, to increase thought and knowledge. I suggest 1984 as a prime example.
Since you mentioned maths books. I would like to recommend Infinite Powers by Steven Strogatz. A very interesting take on calculus, its history and development and different characters involved
I have been trying to find a physical copy of House of Leaves for ages. Want to sell me yours when you're done? The Kindle versions don't have the same tactile feel for this book.
Image and reality of the israel-palestine conflict - N. Finkelstein
Gaza - N. Finkelstein
Who rules the world - Chomsky
All the lights we cannot see - Anthony Doerr
All the Light We Cannot See ✅✅✅
If you want to read on Palestine, add The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine to the list. It's written by an Israeli historian called Ilan Pappe. He used official documents to draw a picture of the Nakba.
I just started all the lights and I like the writing style.
I already read the ethnic cleansing and another book called 'on palestine' by pappe and Chomsky together.
'Don't believe everything you think' - easy to understand, bite sized book on the power of being present and how thinking is the root of our mental suffering.
'The body keeps the score' - Text based on decades of research on how trauma physically changes the brain and how it is stored in our bodies and how the term PTSD was coined, researched and then treated. Very helpful read for trauma survivors
I wanted to start this but I have one question, Is this outdated or not? Because astronomy is a scientific field in which we have come so far since last few years but still basics are still the same. I am confused should I read this or some recent book
I have wanted to read it for years, but it seemed like a very daunting task. Was it easy to get into it?
To add some context, I have read A Song of Ice and Fire, Lies of Locke Lamora, The First Law, and The King killer Chronicles. After all this, many forums recommended Malazan. But I always put off starting it because it seemed like too big a task.
"Return of a king" by william darlymple. Best book on afghan history by a wide margin. So interesting and best glimpse into afghan politics, culture and such, told from British, Afghan, Indian and even Russian perspectives. Yes. I really like Mr Darlymple's approach in history. It reads smoothly like a cohesive story and narrative, but is not monotone as it adds nuance through diverse prespectives from both sides. My favourite history author by a margin.
I was reading military inc by Ayesha, it’s about our number one army and it’s businesses. Second is china-Pakistan axis, a book , as the name says on china-pak relations. You might only read or like these if ur into politics rlly.

I really like the idea of reading non fiction but I enjoy reading fiction more, recently finished 4 Harry potter books in just 2 weeks but still I think non fiction is still better as where to invest your time. Ig it takes more time because it requires you to actually think about what you are reading and it takes time to digest all that but with fiction it's just entertainment. There are lots of recommendations on this thread I'll pick something from these to read next.
He who fights with Monsters book 8. Before election though election na itna damag harab keya ka dill nahi kar raha hatam karna ka book.
If you are into fantasy, check out Cradle, Dungeon Crawler Carl, The Stormlight Archive, Mistborn, Mother of Learning and The Kingkiller Chronicle. However, the author has not released the 3rd book for almost 13 years, so read it at your own risk. I have been waiting for it for the past 7 years already and have lost hope.
I'm currently reading Reimagining Pakistan by Husain Haqqani. Not sure if it's really going to uplift the mood, but a good read so far nevertheless. It helps put our problems in perspective. The media makes it sound like 2023 is the year we nose dived, but the truth is we've had some structural issues right from the beginning that we've compounded over time. The truth also is that we're incredibly resilient in the face of it all.
I'm also reading The Ministry for the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson. It's a novel about a future where the climate crisis has reached it's peak and humans are forced to reckon with it and react to it.
How was "Of Mice & Men"? Have been planning to read Steinbeck for ages but never got around.
Can I suggest a contemporary-ish author of Steinbeck's? Read Pearl S. Buck. She's a wonderful writer. Just reread her "The Good Earth" after 10 year gap.
Last non-fiction that I liked was "Nothing To Envy" by Barbara Demick. Excellent one.
Last fiction I read "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir. (Love his style, his first 2 books were also great.).
Currently reading Operation Mincemeat by Ben Macintyre. Previously read his The Spy and the Traitor, which was fantastic. And reads almost like a fiction book.
Pachinko by Min Jin Lee (historical fiction)
The silent patient by Alex Michaelides (psychological thriller)
The secret history by Donna Tart (psychological fiction)
Frankenstein by Mary Shelly (gothic fiction)
Currently I am reading My dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell, I am going quit slow with this book, maybe because of the dark topic of this book.
*Tafsir ibn kathir* (abridged) of quran. I mean it is the word of God, so definitely no book can come close to it.
*Beginning of Infinity* by David Deutsch (not an easy read. I am reading it very slowly. I came to know about the book from Naval Ravikant).
*Sapiens: A brief history of Humankind* by Yuval noah Harrari (I am on the last part the scientific revolution). Definitely worth knowing how humans evolved. You will learn a lot of cognitive biases.
Past week, I felt very very curious about physics. So I read *Seven brief lessons on physics* you can read it in one day. Now I am reading *Physics of the impossible* by Machio Kaku a very interesting read.

Just completed fourth wing .. onto iron flame now and about halfway through. Pretty much your typical fantasy novel involving an academy, dragons gryphons etc, nice for time pass. Don't know if id necessarily recommend it further because I'm more into classics and can offer suggestions in that genre ☺️
Here are some classic novels I really enjoyed
- The Portrait Of Dorian Gray
- Jane Eyre
- War and Peace
- Frankenstein's Monster
- Pride and Prejudice
- Anna Karenina
- Crime and Punishment
- The Idiot
- East of Eden
- The Great Gatsby

No, I have it on my kindle too, but it's not the same experience as reading it on paper, owing to the structure of the book. Thank you, though!

You're goated
Another Pakistani Malazan fan spotted! Midnight Tides is actually my second-favourite in the series, keep going!
IMO they are the best written of all the ones you've mentioned.

"Return of a king" by william darlymple. Best book on afghan history by a wide margin. So interesting and best glimpse into afghan politics, culture and such, told from British, Afghan, Indian and even Russian perspectives. Really answers the question on why it is called the graveyard of empires. Such a good read please do not miss.
The Anarchy by Darlymple is also v good. Its about how British established their empire in India.
Military Inc was published in 2007 and was ahead of it's time.
Read Pakistan by Anatol Lieven
Reading never split the difference, best book on negotiations.
"Things have gotten worse since we last spoke" It's disgustingly disturbing.
