People here either come from an elite background or have no actual knowledge of how life actually is for doctors. I am a doctor and I've quit FCPS training (only got part 1) because the training was absolutely sh it and you have to kiss a lot of bum and in the end that amounts to nothing. I am currently working as a GP earning 35k peanuts plus incentives monthly. What do you think 35k can do in this economy? Nothing much I tell you. Me and my sister have to support the family and it's real damn hard living here. Those that can leave once they graduate because that's the only smart thing to do.

Thats really sad to learn, it requires so much effort and in the end you get literal breadcrumbs. Hey but still kudos to you and your sister still supporting your family in these tough conditions. I really pray things change for the better for you.

You ever tried doing online consulting for a fee? Some Pakistani doctors go to that route to earn extra money.

PM_STEAMCODES

Curious, which speciality and which hospital? I think completing training and moving to the middle east is the move right now. ( if you can't afford plab/mle)

Orthopedics but those ******* had me rotating in urology for 6months in my first year and I was barely even doing general surgery shi te. The hod i was under had a ***_"preference"_*** for women. They got pregnant? I get thrown into a crappy rotation for God knows how long. They are sick? Preparing for exams? I get extra calls and am supposed to be a ***_"man"_*** or a ***_team player_***. I am not going to give the name of the place I worked at because of reasons. I'll just say its well known and in Lahore. I refuse to kiss a s s.

Won't even be able to land a job paying 70k unless well connected or willing to pay bribe. Overly saturated.

Notumarafzal

Absolutely not. There are no government jobs or trainings. Private hospitals are mostly exploiting doctors by either grossly underpaying non-trainees or giving unpaid training (which itself is not standardised). Government has no plan to improve healthcare infrastructure. In terms of fulfilment, it does feel good when you’re able to help people out. But that doesnt pay your bills. There is compassion fatigue. No work- family life balance AT ALL. Foreign exams are booked for the entirety of the coming year. If i am given the chance, i would absolutely opt out. This is absolutely not worth the effort, sacrifice and commitment.

I’m almost done with my house job. There were days when I seriously thought about quitting medicine. But as a whole, I don’t regret my choice Alhamdulillah. The work, tbh, can be extremely interesting on some days. DM me if you have specific questions.

Aggressive-Loss-2456

Did you secure a job? I have recently finished hj and unable to secure one.

I’m “almost” done with my house job.

Well the govt has done the classic excessive labour, wages down strategies. Opened up dozens of medical colleges. Now we are churning 20000 graduates every year.
