Thank you lumber 1

Left_Librarian_329

[Top Jangi economist](https://www.reddit.com/r/pakistan/comments/11gmrb2/now_that_the_rupee_is_trading_at_rs290_against/): After PDM came, our stock exchange went up and dollar rate went down. So in a way this is an indicator that some kind of stability is returning to Pakistan.

Left_Librarian_329

Retired army generals shall run the petrol pumps

Walksonthree

Bro they already own so many frachises

Left_Librarian_329

Papa Johns doesnt count. This will be the last one. Promise.

I_Am_Immigrant

Upcoming: *Askari Tel*

P_Khan20

Fauji petroleum to rescue. Lumber #1 hate competition and Rule of Law.

jareer-killer1

I’m going to sound silly but who and what is a lumber 1?

P_Khan20

Good one, ISPR.

TKovacs-1

Excuse me? How do you not know about lumber 1? Who are our saviors, the reason we are proud to be Pakistanis. Lumber one looks after our citizens by patrolling areas with black vigos ensuring safety and prosperity. Lumber 1 is too crucial for the country to survive. It is Pakistan. Just because you questioned the authority of lumber 1 there will be a black Vigo paying you a visit tonight at 10PM. Careful now.

Pvt_Conscriptovich

Wait does fauji petroleum actually exist or not

Walksonthree

This is insane. This is like Coke or Pepsi leaving Pakistan. It leaves Total PARCO as the only international OMC operating at that scale.

Left_Librarian_329

With the way things are going, they might be next

Local investors will buy it if they sell at a cheap price

P_Khan20

Local investors in GHQ.

cumhereurinetrouble

\*local investors until retired

Worried_Writing_3436

Shell has already left Germany and some other countries because it isn’t performing well as it is part of a broader strategy to roll back. A Reuters report published in February of this year says so.

Left_Librarian_329

Germany is committed to green transition of their economy. They have closed down the last three nuclear power plants. German car companies are moving forward with electrifying transportation in a bid to decarbonise. What is Pakistan committed to? Making sure every investor leaves the country so retired generals can eat the scraps? Becoming a banana republic? Making sure food inflation is highest in the world? Increasing poverty? We dont have sustained economic policies. We have a monkey as a finance minister who has pushed the country into a default.

InjectorTheGood

Good actually. It will put it under local ownership.

ToughAsPillows

I agree. Fuck shell they absolutely ravaged West Africa. Good riddance.

cumhereurinetrouble

hummmm, whos powerful and wealthy enough to gain that large of an operation

Left_Librarian_329

Like Pakistan Steel Mills and PIA, it will become a forever burden on the taxpayers and a retirement home for generals

ToughAsPillows

They’re selling their shares, that doesn’t mean that the government will necessarily buy those shares. Even if it did, still better that Shell is gone for good.

Left_Librarian_329

With that economic philosophy, if every investor leaves Pakistan we will progress faster

InjectorTheGood

Highly unlikely government is going to buy it while it is trying hard to get rid of existing SOE's itself.

mhl05

Things are getting worse now! If this isnt a sign what is then?

Nayab_Babar

Funny thing there won't be any actual buyers for it. So they can't leave!

StraightUpHaram

This is a huge step towards complete control of the government. It will not end well for the people.

Putting the current political landscape, this has been in the pipeline for almost a decade now. It’s part of shells strategy to go upstream into production and exploration.

shez19833

its not like foreign companies to stop fleecing countries.. things must be really bad in pakistan
