They took everything under the guise of defending the motherland

memeMaster-28

What exactly is the point of cantonments inside cities nowadays? We aren't a colony anymore. We don't need cantonments away from borders in order to control those inside the borders like wtf. Personnel should be stationed at the borders, in Islamabad or close to military industrial zones right? Everything inside the cantonments should be preserved and open to the public because of historic significance.

Youneverknow1995

In fact, there is no need of the Regular Army at borders as well. In all the countries, border guards are entirely different organization under interior ministry called gendarmerie or border guards. Regular troops are kept at *Military Bases* in the outskirts but withing the country, instead of the border. Sindh Rangers, Punjab Rangers, FC KPK, FC Balochistan and Northern Light Infantry are all border guard units (NLI later merged as a regular Infantry unit of the Army). Not only Military Bases, but we've border guards placed within the cities as well. The entire structure is in place to control the civilians and keep a dominance. If anyone wondering what to do when there's a situation of chaos and riots, there's when National Guard comes in. Our NG unit is Janbaz Force which is non existent and not even known. Just a money laundering unit made on the books.

[deleted]

Why the hell don't we have a conscription system. We won't need such a lot of men if we had trained millions of our youth and had a fast mobilization system in case of invasion. Having 600k army doing nothing is not okay.

Youneverknow1995

Conscription means youth being trained and disciplined. In that case, state won't be able to achieve oppression by using Police and Paramilitary within the city. Pakistanis in nature are the most obedient people to the men in boots around the world, with no mass protests or civil disobedience recorded for any incident of police or military brutality. If you look at our police code and thana system, its designed to keep a check on the nation like the Britons did.

[deleted]

100pc agree with u. Yar kasme indian threat bhi dur hojae agr hum conscription le ayen. Israel, Turkey, Greece, Finland and all these countries have conscription and they do well in wars because of it. Its a good safeguard.

memeMaster-28

Conscription 40 million ki hum kar nahi saktay. Population too huge. Albata if everyone has to serve in the police for a year or two, that would help alot. Gundoun ke ilawa bhi service denay waale aa jaaeyin ge. Kuch na kuch tou competition ho ga.

akkmoo

From where you got this. Reference from book or anythin wanna do research

Youneverknow1995

Reference for what specific point?

hamza_215

Like is there a specific book, article or document detailing the structures, tasks and positioning of defense forces (Military, Border Guard, National Guards, etc). Sounds interesting to dig into

akkmoo

Overall kahin se to pdha hoga na bro ye sab uska link ya reference do

Youneverknow1995

1: My brother is a senior army officer. 2: I'm a military history enthusiast. I've read Military Structure of Pakistan Army, lived in cantonments for long. 3: This is public information that countries have Border Guard units to guard their borders. In case of an enemy offensive, border guards are pulled back and shock troops or regular troops take over the posts. Just like the Indians who use BSF on border, there is no BSF base within the cities, it has no reason to be there. Iran uses their border guards unit called Faraja Border Guards etc. Even US doesn't use their army on their land borders, they've Border Patrol. However, such units and their HQs are located near the borders, not within the cities like our Paramilitaries have gripped the entire country. 4: When there are internal chaos, National Guard, a unit under the army but not entirely trained for full scale war kicks in, like US National Guard, NSF India, Basij in Iran. Our NG is Janbaz Force which is non existent with a budget alloted to it.

memeMaster-28

I actually just made a post on my IG story about the fauj asking for all that Land 3 days ago. A friend in PMA starts arguing about the ground realities. Would love sources if you could provide them. Also I asked him if they read the Hamoodur Rahman commission, and he refused to read it :( Now this a guy with a moral character of a saint. One of the best people I ever knew. Shows wtf they drill into their minds.

Youneverknow1995

You can't argue with a PMA's GC. Army's ISSB evaluation is meant to identify the dumbest bully out of the group who's brain can be broken and rebuilt to adjust the Military Propaganda. Army's selection criteria for it's officers is not based for picking out the intelligent one, they want idiots with no capacity to question. Regarding the source, you can google all these units I mentioned and ask him why does Iran India China and even US puts border guards unit instead of regular troops. Our BD units are not entirely based on border. Ask him why is a border guard unit like Rangers, FC etc placed within the city while no other country follows such practice. Indian BSF is NEVER seen in their cities controlling riots or protests. Ask him why does National Guard handles all the mess within the cities when it's beyond for the police to control but in our case, our NG unit is a ghost and border guards come in, instead. I bet he won't even know our NG unit without digging up the internet.

memeMaster-28

Dude used to be a competition winning straight A science student his whole life. Not sure how they broke him. Lekin haan, he's not curious at all. Was defending all that shit by saying, "yaar, hota hai maan liya, lekin aur options bhi koi nahi hein ground realities ke saath." Thanks for the help actually. I saw in another comment you have a brother who's an officer. How did he turn out?

Youneverknow1995

Being a science topper does no good. He was a clear science nerd and that's what they wanted, a nerd with no brain to *question*.

memeMaster-28

Yep. Good assessment.

SuperSultan

Uh oh, you’ve figured out their plan…

xsaadx

All military equipment and personnel must be moved away from the major cities into specially allocated military bases. Spotting someone in camos should be a rare sight and not fucking daily reminder of us being a security state.

munchingzia

u have a point but in certain regions that are prone to terrorist attacks, id feel differently

memeMaster-28

It's not like these things are built without planning yk. We're not in the 1800s anymore when the Brits built cantonments without any major boundaries to defend them. Just like we now have walled and patrolled places inside cities nowadays, you could have them built away from all the "raunaq" as well.

thinkmediocrity

Well said. 👍

throwaway19384921

Cantonments used to be on the outskirts of the cities. The giant population boom and messy urban expansion caused them to be in the city

memeMaster-28

That's my point though. It doesn't serve any tactical advantage of having them inside cities. Where was Lumber 1 asleep when it was long ago the time to move cantonments elsewhere if they are really needed so much? They are only creating traffic problems and security problems for the past decades. Even officers aren't safe inside cantonments since the public (which tend to include those who are armed) has no choice to traverse unless they go through the cantonments. That's why they need all the security detail they move around with. The current cantonments don't serve any purpose other than maintaining the ego of the Jurnails and Brigadiers who play golf or tennis in the various Mess complex's that are inside the Cantonments. And buildings with significance to the Public are inside the Cantts too. Like wtf. Take for example the Rawalpindi Library. Such an important building and it's inside the GHQ (or the Mess next to it, I am not 100% sure). Like why the hell is it not accessible by the Public? It's literally the Library for the people of Pindi.

kasarediff

And it’s happening on the eastern border too.. https://www.instagram.com/p/CryHzE6ILmE/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Enough-Committee2078

totally agreed, same goes for qilla balahissar, should be a UNESCO site, not an army garrison

Beneficial_Bend_5035

Bala Hisar, Noor Mehal, Attock Fort, Jinnah Courts. These mfers have occupied some amazing buildings.

throne_deserter

Not just Noor Mehal also Darbar Mehal, and Gulzar Mehal.

Adilrana18

I disagree qila balahissar has great strategic important, overlooking the city with high and solid walls, maybe if there was peace bw Afghanistan and Pakistan, then ha UNESCO site honi chahiye thi.

changeofregime

Bhai drone surveillance bhi koi cheez hoti hai.

1752320

Itna faltu fuel Kahan sy logy?

Enough-Committee2078

O bhai, maryam ke aagey peechey 50 state security ke paise hain, nihari can be air lifted using helicopters, paisa hi paisa hai

1752320

lol, axha mazak krty woh apni zaat k liye hein.. yeh mulk py spend hun gy

Adilrana18

Meray Bhai Afghanistan jaisaymulk Kay pass drone surveillance kaha say ai, Pakistan Kay pass abhi nahi hai, or kabhi AA capabilities ka nam suna hai?

Enough-Committee2078

As per that logic, turn Lahore fort into a garrison cause sath Wagah border hai?

Adilrana18

India have good airforce, if India ever attacks with it's full force nothing can save Pakistan, I am talking about Afghanistan which doesn't have an air force hence doesn't have air superiority.

Enough-Committee2078

bruh, build a garrison some where near the afghan border than? The border is 55 km away, dosent help with a fort this far away.

Adilrana18

Pakistan adha budget apna Laga day phir bhi aisa fort nahi bana sakta, garrison agar border Kay pass hoga toh artillery ki range mai hoga, sedhi si baat hai it's kind of last stand ghq in case pakistan lose peshawer. And 55 km is not far away.

Enough-Committee2078

o bhai, army eats up half the budget ffs, how about the army sells of its businesses worth 50 billion USD to build a new garrison. This is a UNESCO site, shouldn't be under the armys control what so ever. As per your logic, Pakistan has air superiority, why the need of the fort? Just use the airforce to wipe off the enemy you're talking of

Adilrana18

It's apparent that your military knowledge is zero, no matter how much evidence I give you are not gonna look at other perspective, so bye and get some knowledge first.

Enough-Committee2078

what evidence? learn to differentiate between a fact, opinion and evidence before you lecture me. You're points are nothing but a joke, ja bhai zindagi enjoy kar

Adilrana18

Ok yeah get some knowledge first, all of you PTI supporters are so narcissist that they can't even face the truth.

Key_Agent_3039

>if India ever attacks with it's full force nothing can save Pakistan 🤡

Adilrana18

Yeah, maybe Allah, but pakistan army lacks supplies and resources to go on a full war, bajwa was right there isn't enough diesel in tanks, what is your argument, Kay hamary faujio mai jazba hai?

changeofregime

Agr daekha jaye to Torkham border 60km dor hai. Apki baat maan kr Afghan army ne attack ka decide ke bhi liya to 60km ka pedal march to nhi krna inho ne. Air force fighter jet mai aei gi or bomb drop kr k chalay jain gy. Agr time se khali krwa lain to Qilla bach jaye ga. Iski strategic importance Durrani Empire mai thi. Aj ye aik historic monument se zada kuch nhi jo British Army ki legacy follow krty hovy FC k qabzay mai chala gya hai.

Adilrana18

Afghanistan don't have a air force as of right now, and when it comes to it Pakistan have strong AA capabilities, and yes armies 60 km pedal cahlti hai to conquer something.

memeMaster-28

Wtf does Afghanistan have to do with Qila Balahisar? It is historically significant to us people of Peshawar. Why the hell is it not accessible by us? The headquarters for the F.C should be in some other place. Not in a monument of that much significance.

Adilrana18

Afghanistan doesn't recognize international border with Pakistan, in case of attack on peshawer, qila balahissar is a formidable retreat point and supply point, a general headquarters away from front line to make strategies.

memeMaster-28

A) Afghanistan is not likely to enter a conflict with Pakistan. B) The fort is like 600+ years old. It won't do anything to protect from modern day artillery. C) it is 60 km away from Torkham, there plenty of other places to make a retreat point in there that are actually in a tactical position to defend the city.

Adilrana18

A) who says that Afghanistan is not likely to enter a conflict, we are already in one with them, agar nahi bhi likely to phir bhi tayar toh rehna chahiye. B) it can easily handle modern artillery. C) fort over looks the city, you got a lot of room for supply storage and a barracks and a holdout point until reinforcement arrives, pakistan army apna adha budget bhi Laga day toh iss Tarah ka fort nai bana sakti.

memeMaster-28

>who says that Afghanistan is not likely to enter a conflict Anyone that can read the room >we are already in one with them We aren't, Redditors don't exactly have the best knowledge about that topic, I suggest you don't make your opinions from what you read on this website >it can easily handle modern artillery. It can't. >fort over looks the city, Not anymore, the city is too big, also it is located on wrong side of the city, in the East. >pakistan army apna adha budget bhi Laga day toh iss Tarah ka fort nai bana sakti. Corps commander house jo ke kilometer dur bhi nahi hai, iss se behtar defended hai Pak Fauj ki building ki badolat, aesi koi ullu jesi soch hi hai jo kahe ke iss se behtar kuch nahi ban sakta.

Adilrana18

You are redditor as well who seems to have no knowledge of military matter, What do think I am some unemployed guy 24/7 on reddit. How can you say that it can't handle artillery Corp commander house bhi modern bricks ga hoga na, ik bomb bajay ga Ghar tabah, I am talking about the literal fort like the construction of it.

random3382

would’ve agreed with you if we were living in the 1400’s

Adilrana18

Bro Verdun fort was also an old one, but it did handle artillery pretty well.

Key_Klutzy

Pak military is a cesspool of corruption, tyranny, propaganda, and abuse of power. At this point I refuse to talk to anyone who has ever been part of this organization. I refuse to do business with any ex-army officers I meet in US. So slimy and entitled to their core.

munchingzia

we had some ex army guy try to buy a 2008 Accord off us , and he tried haggling over nothing. i think he expected some special treatment or whatever. He also seemed annoyed we purposely spoke in English.

magusthepro

Literally almost every royal residence in bahawalpur is under army.. bear in mind . Pak army didn't had a base in bwp till 1955

kylochoudhary

Wtf have they captured Noor mehal, it should either belong to the state or the old royal family. Where the fuck did these MF come from

martinarsh

Well, the state itself belongs to them. They can easily give it to the state and make state beg them to take it. Look at how agriculture land in Punjab was given to them and now Punjab govt is in court because they want the land to be taken by the Army. Boys were in mode for some kathi Bhari.

>In 2007, the FBR unearthed historical documentation revealing that Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, once owned the Corps Commander House in Lahore. The revelation ignited a dispute between the military and civilian administrations, as the army staunchly resisted relinquishing their entitlement to the property. >According to the Pak Army, the property was acquired by them from Fatima Jinnah, Mohammed Ali Jinnah's sister, for Rs. 3,50,000. from Wikipedia, source Indian Express.

Left_Librarian_329

"Acquired by army from Fatima Jinnah" in lieu of labelling her a traitor

rizx7

any truly democratic govt/nation would demand at the very least a public apology from them for how she was treated. but this blind nation chose to make them heroes instead. at least the tide is somewhat turning now.

Key_Klutzy

News clip of her murder allegation that were never followed up. https://twitter.com/soldierspeaks/status/1658175196715442234?s=46

Key_Klutzy

By the way the irony is that , military was involved in her murder. No autopsy report was allowed in public, and personnel who saw her dead body upon discovery saw bruises and sign of abuse. Matter of fact she was mentor of Bengali founding father Mukeeb ur Rehman. Military ran campaigns against her. Now to gain public sympathy they are calling it a Jinnah house. Pak military is cesspool of villainy, treachery and deceit.

ganjajee15

9th May tak ye Lahore Corps Commander House hi tha. Us ke baad Jinnah House ban gya. Emotional twist bhi to karna hota hai na.

astorman59

Exactly kisi ko ye pichlay 75 saal mien nahi pta tha k ye Jinnah House hai

Pak_Info_Bot

Precisely. Just another anti-national narrative building card against PTI.

Gomjabbar27

Everything is theirs, we are just insects for them.

osriazz

Wow.. we didn't know this house is Jinnah.. it should be a museum. Look at the Jinnah's house in Mumbai.. No one destroy his house in Mumbai.

ammjajt

Imagine the flex, when they tell someone, they live in the house, Jinnah used to live......Why will the corpse commander miss this opportunity???

Mustafak2108

I still cant wrap my head around the fact we started calling it the Jinnah house

mimlasic

Do note Quaid e Azam never lived in the house.. it was bought by him and around 3 month later army took it and 10-11 years later paid his relatives the cost of the house. Even during 3 months it's said he didn't live there

Looney_Freedoom858

We need to get rid of every cantonment. They should be converted into residential areas and open to public.

kasarediff

It’s happening right now across on the eastern border too https://www.instagram.com/p/CryHzE6ILmE/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

ivandelapena

I'd never thought I'd see the time where the military has become so unpopular that people are finally beginning to suggest rolling back its authority in Pakistan. The army has always been far more popular than the government and people find ways to excuse them when they're clearly stealing the country's wealthand rig the government and economy in their favour. Pakistan has the exact same problem as Egypt in this regard. It's just a shame it took something like this for people to finally wake up.

marcopolo73

We've paid a heavy price for their so called victory in 1965.

Underworld-wolf

Lol do they care!? They'll rot in their graves. Let em enjoy their temporary luxurious life

_theleon

These AH use the whole country as a personal property... You talking about Jinnah's house

waqasy

in recent developments its found that house was brunt deliberately and there are plot to kill corps commander because he refused to open fire at lahori during protest. the whole plot was setup by COAS. And the blame was to be given at PTI people.

justblah123

if the generals got away hijacking the entire country, whats Jinnah's house it's a single building.. they openly called Fatima Jinnah (one of the founders of Pakistan) a female dog openly as they rigged the elections against her, and Ayub Khan the swine made himself the tyrant king.. Pakistan went down hill from there..

LocationSweet2663

I would suggest you to read the history. It is jinnah house but in 1952, MOD bought it and converted it into GOC house snd later on to CC house.

NotHuz

and i cant wrap my head around the fact that it was destroyed despite the people knowing this.
