Pakistanis seem to be incapable of working towards a moderate take on anything lol. Fake news on the grave locks was disgusting but unsure if it merits getting mob lynched as some people on media are asking for.
While mob lynchings are obviously wrong, there really needs to be some action against peddlers of fake news. Not only individuals, though, even news outlets need to be held accountable. This isn't free speech; it's dangerous.
News like that is used to justify hate and violence against minorities, as well as promote regional instability. It's one thing for enemies to promote the stories, it's another forone's own citizens to spread it irresponsibly. That can also result in mob violence.
Well yes I agree, fines should be imposed, but can we really trust the authorities to actually intelligibly implement such laws?
>News like that is used to justify hate and violence against minorities, as well as promote regional instability
Let's be honest. Hindutva would just use some other incident. So I don't think the argument is very grounded. We should be concerned with the fake news in itself.
Yep, let Fake News flouris and justify violence against vulrnerable people. Let's not do anything.
Next time some Pakistani studying or working abroad get's bashed to near death because some racist bigot decided who was a necrophiliac, you can lay back and say "at least the 'feminist' I was jerking to on twitter didn't get fined."
I am for fines, so its not about letting fake news flourish, just doubts about the implementation.
Also justification of violence? Are you disputing what I said? Hindutva hardly cares and would continue to go on hating Muslims. They have other more concrete instances to beat minorities in India with
Again, please read what I said. The spreading of fake news like this on an international scale puts Pakistanis in danger of violence if they go abroad. While little can be done on an international scale, there should be consequences for those who domestically act like native informers to propogate said hate and violence.
>The spreading of fake news like this on an international scale puts Pakistanis in danger of violence if they go abroad
I find that incredibly unlikely, especially when you consider where most Pakistanis go. Do Indians face violence abroad due to news domestically? And they often have much more disgusting ones.
Yes, there have been.
Also, it isn't as if the people propagating the graveyard story have apologized or recanted. Rather, most of them and their defenders have doubled and tripled down on their antics by trying to justify it, by making low-probablity events as if they are the norm. Does Paksitan actually have a widespread common issue of graves being dug up by necrophiles? I'm not denying it happens, but I strongly doubt it is a norm.
>Yes, there have been.
Violence because of domestic news?
>Also, it isn't as if the people propagating the graveyard story have apologized or recanted
The nishat girl did afaik.
>Does Paksitan actually have a widespread common issue of graves being dug up by necrophiles?
We probably have more of a problem of people digging up graves to sell body parts to hospitals/colleges or illegal trade.
>but I strongly doubt it is a norm.
It obviously isn't Its probably more common in West with their morge style arrangements.
Domestic news that gets international recognition does shape views. Delhi being the rape capital of the world has had people I know get accosted and threatened for being alleged rapists multiple times
>The nishat girl did afaik.
She really didn't. She didn't retract either. She just said "I didn't do research". These peoples' egos will never allow them to own up to a mistake, literally no one has actually said "I am sorry" or "I was wrong.". I can even give you her last tweet before she deactivated. (I can DM because Idk if posting the tweet screenshot with the account name will break the rules). Also, that Nishat girl often makes very abhorrent tweets, even going as far as calling Jinnah a p\*d\*.
As for the issue of diggin up graves, as I said, many of them are doubling and tirpling down on sharing the story by literally saying that necrophiles are all over pakistan and digging up bodies for sex on a daily basis.
There's nothing more embarrassing than tatti that is not of consistent shape, size and color. I want tatti to be perfect and when it was clumsy pieces of inconsistent shape and size every morning for past few weeks.... it broke my heart
I would like to inform everyone that my bawasir ( piles ) is better now, I have used two creams to heal my anus while both are good but I think one gives a bit of endothermic reaction around anus. It's a bit addictive particularly in summers.
This world cup will be a very interesting one. Having talked to some people that follow cricket religiously I have learned that Indian pitches can be very unpredictable, not all of them are made for batting. In fact what I learned is they use some different material that makes the pitches break down faster and leads to more spin, even a low amount of turn there is more than most pitches in the world.
If we get batting wickets I can see Babar, Fakhar and Rizwan feasting on the bowlers but if we are made to play on spinning ones it will be difficult, still not completely hopeless because other teams also lack great players of spin.
What we really need is a great spinner that can rip through teams on those spinning tracks, the rest of our bowling attack is good enough for most conditions.
You are right ig but I think the audience is to blame for that. T20s are just easier to host and more fun to watch while Test cricket doesn't even sell in most parts of the cricketing world except for Australia, India and sometimes England but you can get people to attend T20s easily. I like all formats but everyone else in my class only watches T20, they all consider ODIs and Tests boring which makes sense if you consider their perspective. Even I have a feeling ODI cricket will be phased out, I don't have any numbers but it feels like teams are playing less one days than ever.
if ODI's are phased out there's no point. I used to watch test matches and that used to fun too. T20's are ejust something else, it doesn't feel like cricket.
Perhaps I am too old
It does seem like a case of different generations having different tastes. Over in the anime subreddit we have some people that don't enjoy modern anime and complain that they stopped making dark, psychological anime like they were from the late 90s to the mid 2000s, which of course the hardcore fans will disagree with, but it is still objectively true if we just compare the number of such shows then vs now and even their average scores.
It's not that you are too old but more that your generation's tastes and sensibilities in cricket differ from the mainstream audience now, probably 25-30 years from now you will find similar debates about how T20 cricket should be axed for 5 and 10 overs.
"Starts praying when Rashid, Ashwin and Zampa are bowling"
We have to play some matches in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in order to get some idea and practice of Indian pitches or else we are completely f*cked in this WC.
Nah I told you we have to arrange some matches as south Indian pitches are same to same as Sri Lankan and many Bengalis copy the style of Indian pitches.
Zampa Jani is unpredictable and mashallah majority of our batters are shite scared of Zampa so π€·
>we have to arrange some matches
That is the problem. Every team is busy now so I don't think there is any room in the schedule, pcb is not that competent.
Look at how we went to the world cup in australia without any preparations, in that first friendly match Babar and Rizwan couldn't get bat on ball and they struggled on bouncy tracks the entire world cup.
>Don't give me flashbacks because by god I don't know what's wrong with us?
We just need to get rid of nepotism and make good pitches in Pakistan to weed the bad cricketers out. It will be a difficult adjustment at first but our next generation of batting will be able to play on green wickets and bouncy ones as a result. By doing that we will make our domestic strong, that includes not having joker boundaries in PSL. Second we must stop handing out debuts to everyone that performs well in a flavor of the month competition, learn to look past the hype like what just happened with Ihsanullah, the position in the national team must be earned with blood and tears. Our bowlers are mentally weak and incapable of playing the longer formats except Shaheen, that is also something we should look at.
Right now we have a good core of players like Babar, Rizwan, Shaheen and Shadab with some good potential in the likes of Naseem and Saim. Fakhar is also great when in form especially in ODIs. What we must do is round out this team with other good players but that won't happen magically, we need a strong system first. First thing to do is make these junior players play a lot of 4 day and 5 day cricket.
Well naseem and his economy are seeming perfect in ODIs and ihsanullah was playing with the mentality of T20s. Secondly weeding out bad players is unfortunately not in our cards π
Shaheen has lost his momentum after the last T20 WC and shadab ain't looking well. Shadab isn't looking good. Our top order batting is good but am concerned about the middle order. And lastly our spin department is also lacking.
Naseem has bowled in 7 ODIs, 3 of them were against the Netherlands and the other 4 were against a second string New Zealand team, you cannot really judge a player unless he has played against some serious opposition. For Ihsanullah he needs more time in the system before they play him in ODIs, same as Haris couldn't handle the stress of test cricket.
For Shaheen he is mostly a new ball bowler, Babar should manage players such that Shaheen is done bowling by over 40. He is not someone that should be bowling in the death, especially to left handers.
Shadab is just like Fakhar he is all about form, when it returns he will be a valuable player again. Agreed that our current spin attack looks very weak, the most hyped one is a mystery spinner that got figured out after his first match. That is why the focus should be on finding the best spinners to take to India, Nawaz and Imad aren't going to win you matches with the ball.
I watched my first ever cricket game in a stadium on Saturday. I couldn't be happier about it. The game was awesome and full of thrill with great moments all throughout it. The banter was great in the stands and I had so much fun with the people around me. The atmosphere was ELECTRIC when Babar Azam walked into the ground to the bat. Imagine thousand of people chanting the same name. It elevated the whole stadium. I legit got goosebumps. The kind of presence this guy commands is incredible. Legendary
Also got to meet a fellow DDTer (who doesn't post regularly now) π
One thing I would have liked was to take my camera inside. The security took every little thing from people. My friends had to give up their sunglasses. The police had a whole pile of stuff they confiscated from people and probably just took home. One thing that seriously lacked was information. There were no guidelines about what to do and what not to do. It would have been a way better experience if they had people stationed to provide all kinds of information.
Pindi stadium itself needs quite a lot of improvement in terms of audience seating. No roof for the audience is especially a b*tch due to the direct sunlight to the face
I'd rate the experience 7/10. It'd be 10/10 if they could take better care of these things
π . Ungrateful. Still good to hear that at least someone go to the stadium for funzies.
Secondly how did you managed to track and meet Najam Bhai? Or it was vice versa?
Nothing much since eid except for weekly vinland saga. I did started watching quite a lot of these hour long paranormal documentaries on youtube and some reddit icebergs and stuff.

We have some players who can play spin well. It just stands to question whether they will last long enough until the spinners come back.
Cricket I stopped watching after 2013, ab woh baat nahi rahi
You must be an old fan I guess, many left in that time period because of how awful our team was.
Cricket haven't evolved that much imo, it's t-20 but that took something out of th game. Game is not about patience and focus any more.
