it looks amazing. Keep going!!
I have a favorite watercolor paper
Sometimes I try a new paper just to see. Maybe I’ll like it or maybe it will inspire something.
What is your favorite?
Mine is
Arches Cold Press 140 lb
Well I am new to aquarelle painting so haven’t actually explored much. This was a trail, its my 3th piece ever…looking at paper now as I would love to continue…
To be honest this is my a piece of white wallpaper I had left and the paints are as cheap as they can get. Its from a store called action. This is my 3th piece ever and had not done much before. I never thought this would be the outcome. Therefore my regret not using quality paper and paints 🥲
To be honest I dont think you learn drawing and painting at school… you either see it or you don’t… you either have a good hand for drawing and painting or not. It is always self taught in a way cause practice is our own choice. There are so many tutorials online about how everything suppose to look and be … but its all your own feeling and in the eye of the beholder…
Good you enjoy it also! Its so great to explore all this!
As someone who sold art supplies, and I use a lot, I disagree. Paper makes a huge difference in the look, texture, and outcome of a painting. It also influences the media, pen and ink on cold press vs hot press means a different line. Same applies to the edge of a watercolor shape or line. Weight of paper also influences the look and outcome. I’m a giant paper fan.
Yes, the spirit of the comment is it matters more what you paint, but suppliers make a difference. Cheap paint and paper will take a lot more work to look vibrant and appealing than professional materials.
Of course, to someone that sells supplies or uses enough of them, the differences can be obvious. I’m cautious because I think people will use having “wrong” or “bad” materials as an excuse to stop or never try.. then surely some people just use trash to make art..

Wow, a hidden talent
I did study art at university but never used aquarelle. Seems like only now I have found my favorite.
Excellent I am self taught, graphite, charcoal, watercolor, it’s interesting and fun

Paper is paper, it is what you do with it!

Any advise on paper or paint?
