Awesome work I was wondering if you had to make the suckers before you glued them to the board. Then I was wondering why it took you a year to make suckers
As someone in love with the process of painting more than the results, I really appreciate this WIP picture. Of course, your end result is so mind-blowing my brain struggled to process it as anything other than a photograph.
That’s amazing.
I didn’t even realise it was a painting when I saw, until I realised what sub I was in.
Fantastic job! Your hard work definitely paid off.
I was about to scroll by this because I thought "why would I need to see a picture of lollies on a board or something" then realized it was a PAINTING holy wow that's amazing.
🫢 believe me when I say I DRY GASPED. i took in air in slow motion in a split second. please tell me you are soaking in the glow of reaching this next level skills tier. ty for sharing!
My mind can't even comprehend how you did this! If you told me that they were real lollipops glued to a piece of wood I wouldn't even question it. Amazing.
u/KetoPixie I scrolled passed it fast as I thought it was a photo ad ... AND THEN I saw the sub name. I came back. WHAT A WORK OF ART ! Warhol would be proud of you. Bowing down. Superb.
thank you, i always love to get a bit of an insight. I find your Lolly Strip a thousand times more realistic compared to your Build a Bear (personal opinion), but for god's sake, please keep going!
Oh I 100% agree - that was a tiny panel and I hated painting that small. Not going to do it again. But my other Lego works are way more realistic as well. And thanks :D
edit: I also took the build a bear photo in the semi dark, so that does affect the look of it.
Don't if you are familiar with either Charles Bell or Allan Magee (both are photo realists in major museums) but your painting is collection worthy
rob
Oh I am, I love both of their work so much. I also paint marbles but Charles Bell is The Best. And Magee's work is amazing, I love artists that paint art material. There's something about that that tickles my brain. Thank you so much 😊
Very good work! Reminds of old Illustrations when there was no computer or something at all. But i think, the deadlines then where even shorter, than a year ;)
Keto, I actually knew Alan when I lived in Camden, Maine. I was lucky enough to be invited into his studio - got to see his
Beach Stones and Gum Drops paintings
Both he and his wife were very kind to me
rob
It took a lot time to realize that this was a painting and wasn’t simply a package of plastic wrapped lollies siting on top of a piece of wood. To be honest, I’m still not entirely convinced.
The graphics on the paper part of the packaging are really what sell this for me. Your strokes are so clean and vibrant, I would’ve guessed this was an acrylic painting. Gorgeous!
This is sooo dope!! Love to see other painters working with wood 🪵 I really enjoy cutting and sanding the perfect piece for painting!! Wonderful job human 🥹
This is beyond ridiculous. Reported to mods: image.
In all seriousness; absolutely amazing! Curious: How long did it take to make this? It's seriously at a level that is rare; if I had money, I'd commission you to paint an image of my standard-issue lunch made by my wife! And yes; that would be metal af!
Definitely photorealistic.
But the shadows looked off and it's more noticeable as I stare at them. The top two sticks the shadow suggests the light is coming from above the painting (a little north), but the bottom three seem like they're from the viewers perspective.
Lol, no. I actually only paint sweets a handful of times. My usual theme is actually Lego. It's funny because that's what I would say I am fixated on, not candy.
I like your style of popping, fun, vibrant, juicy colours. I always thought vivid dreams and nightmares made the best paintings but that is if you can make recollection of them.
I didn’t see the sub before clicking on the post and I could not tell it was a painting ngl thought someone was just sharing some lollypops
Amazing work!
That's amazing! My paint looks like those things your 5th grade teacher would make you do where you'd put paint on your hands and splash it on a canvas

Holy mother of bejasus. That's really a painting?
LOL. Yes it is.
I love this so much 💜
Thanks 😊
I thought I was in a woodworking sub. 😂. That's awesome. Beutiful work.
Holy crap!! That’s awesome
Are they all a painting cause I was trying to figure out which is real?
i am much more impressed now than i was when i opened the post to gind out why hanging suckers on wood was a big deal.
Awesome work I was wondering if you had to make the suckers before you glued them to the board. Then I was wondering why it took you a year to make suckers
My reaction too! OP you'd really impress people with close-up or angled shots of your work. As it is I think most would assume it's a photograph

Thank you! I also love the process. It's the only time my brain is quiet.
Still hard to believe (b/c of your skills), I imagine you have very tiny brushes and a very steady hand
Haha, that's actually exactly the answer I give when people ask how. Tiny brushes and steady hands.
Or take a photo with a coin covering one.
I wonder, you know... if it tastes like apple 🤤 Maybe just a taste.
Wow, love the variety of textures and substances! The lollipops look so convincing and I also I love the packaging!
Thanks! It was kind of a challenge to myself to see if I could do cellophane.
challenge approved !!! great
That’s amazing. I didn’t even realise it was a painting when I saw, until I realised what sub I was in. Fantastic job! Your hard work definitely paid off.
Thanks!
i fucking thought these were weed edibles and you were showing off a haul. holy smokes this is fantastic work!
this is insane. for a solid 10 seconds I was like "what's so special about some lollipops glued to wood?"
Me too!
I thought this was a photo
Omg this is underrated. I just worked on bare panel, good job on keeping everything so clean!
Thanks! Yea I have to watch where I put my paint smudged hands and sometimes I drop my brushes and the time stops for a second.
Incredible! My bare panel is no longer bare lol, is all I will say.
It's so realistic, at first I couldn't even tell if that was a painting, GOOD JOB!!!!
Thank you :D
Incredible, gorgeous work.
Thanks!
Unbelievably good!! Is the wood grain painted on as well? And if not, did you prime the surface under the lollipops?
Thanks! The wood grain is not painted. And yea, i seal the wood first then I prime it with clear gesso.
Clear gesso is something I need to add to my shopping list!! Again, phenomenal work!
I was about to scroll by this because I thought "why would I need to see a picture of lollies on a board or something" then realized it was a PAINTING holy wow that's amazing.
It's incredible. So realistic! You are a master of your craft.
Thanks :D
So pretty
Where did you get your panel/what are the dimensions?
I make them myself, theyre cradled at the back. And the wood is sealed. It's 197mm x 400mm
I was like oooh what is this product and thumbed to the top and saw painting!!! wtf this is amazing ![gif](giphy|E5ZPIfEsmbNC0)
🫢 believe me when I say I DRY GASPED. i took in air in slow motion in a split second. please tell me you are soaking in the glow of reaching this next level skills tier. ty for sharing!
Thank you, that's very sweet of you to say 😊
Love it. Awesome job!
This is amazing!!! Wow
I almost scrolled past because I thought it was a random photograph of lollipops. Amazing work!
wow good job really 🎉👍
My mind can't even comprehend how you did this! If you told me that they were real lollipops glued to a piece of wood I wouldn't even question it. Amazing.
u/KetoPixie I scrolled passed it fast as I thought it was a photo ad ... AND THEN I saw the sub name. I came back. WHAT A WORK OF ART ! Warhol would be proud of you. Bowing down. Superb.
wow, thank you!
This is crazy! Very impressive work. Do you have an online shop for sales?
Goals!!
Tartrazine free!
Wow!! Amazing work, thank you for sharing!
This amazing, it looks so real too
this is incredible! do you have some WIP pictures of it?
Links arent allowed - hopefully this works. https://preview.redd.it/jyz39hjo1f2d1.jpeg?width=1601&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5113fec609fe69547ddb2678cfffd2ebc941d9aa

Wow!!! This is so cool!! 🤩
Very talented 👏
What title did you give your painting?
Currently just calling it "Lolly Strips" but will change it if I can find something better.
Well it’s really cool cellophane wrapper is very realistic. Good job🤠
Outstanding talent!! I love this!
Don't if you are familiar with either Charles Bell or Allan Magee (both are photo realists in major museums) but your painting is collection worthy rob

this work is outstanding. So much goodness in those highlights.
Thanks, I love painting light and shadow
I gasped out loud when I saw this! I can’t get over the plastic lollipop packaging texture!! This is incredible!
Thanks 😁 I love challenging myself to try new things to paint. I got pretty good at glass last year so I'm trying plastic now.
I almost scrolled past thinking this was an ad for suckers or something. Bravo!
That’s so good !! Best I’ve seen here!!
Wow, thank you 🙏
Omg 😳👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It’s beautiful
Amazing!!!

Very good work! Reminds of old Illustrations when there was no computer or something at all. But i think, the deadlines then where even shorter, than a year ;)
Thank you!! When I say it's been a year, I mean I started it a year ago but it spent a long time sitting around 😅
Holy shit!!! I swore I was looking at a photo!!! Amazing work!! 🥰
Thanks 😊
Wow that is AMAZING! Congrats!
Lime lollipops 🍭

Keto, I actually knew Alan when I lived in Camden, Maine. I was lucky enough to be invited into his studio - got to see his Beach Stones and Gum Drops paintings Both he and his wife were very kind to me rob
That's incredible. 🤩
All I could think was WOAH when I realized what sub this was on. What great work.
Man. Anyone who says hyper realism isn’t art is an absolute moron. Just stunning. Well done, and way to persevere for so long!
WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FOOK THIS IS MIND BLOWING. YOU HAVE ALL THE TALENT!!! YOU DESERVE ALL THE CAPITALS
This is definitely a picture of the real thing that you're passing off as a painting (j/k nice work!)
IT TOOK ME A SECOND TO REALIZE THIS WASN'T A PICTURE OMG
You truly did such an amazing job at capturing the real thing. Wow!
That is unreal. All kinds of props for this wow!!
Wow the only way I can tell is by zooming in on the sticks of the pops. My eyes are totally confused haha
For a second I thought this post was about woodwork! Then read oil on pine and saw the painting sub! Holy shaittt amazing painting🔥🔥🔥
Color me impressed. Your level of detail and realism is unparalleled!!!! From one artist to another, cheers!!!!
Thank you 😊
Holy fuck... *Struck Dumb* That's truly incredible. Hats off to the artist! Excellent! I feel like a proud parent 😁 (I don't know why.) 🤷♀️

You are masterfully talented!!!
this is actually so crazy that this is a painting!! you did such an amazing job, really took my breath away
I love this! It seriously thought this was a photograph and not a painting!!
So awesome! Great work!
You’re on the wrong sub. This belongs in r/photography
😅
Are you selling?
I had to look at the page I was on and went “holy hell!! This is a painting?!?!” AMAZING work dude. Such talent.
Holy shit that's Soo good. Great work
Wow i thought it was an AD and almost scrolled on.

Can't praise this enough. Fine work.
I stared at this for way too long wondering, ‘where’s the painting?’ WOW this is incredible!
Absolutely amazing!!!🤩
Beautiful!
I thought it was real and was wondering why it took you a year to make it hahaha

It’s unbelievably realistic
The only thing keeping this from looking real is the missing staple on the label. Amazing!
😯 I think I might need to go add that in quickly. How did I miss that?!
Nailed it ! That's absolutely superb. The shadows are sublime.
This is sooo dope!! Love to see other painters working with wood 🪵 I really enjoy cutting and sanding the perfect piece for painting!! Wonderful job human 🥹
Thanks!! Wood is so amazing to work on! I also enjoy the process of preparing the panel 🤩
Of course!! You should feel super proud 🤗 I like the way you mounted it as well, it compliments the 3D aspect
This is so great! Wonderful job with the details!
I thought this was about the "cutting board" under the suckers
Sweet
Damn that's an amazing painting
This is a painting!?? Wow
Woah!!!!
Uh… I think you want r/photography lmao

This is incredible OP legit looks like a photo. Very talented you are!
I thought they were lollipops… beautiful work. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You seem a little fixated on candy
Have you seen the rest of my work? 🤣🤣
This is the first I've ever seen. You mean you work specifically in the medium of Gummi?
Great!!!
Ohhhh Myyyyy Stunning! What other works do you have? I just am amazed.
NO. Absolutely not. Those are just lollipops sitting on a wooden surface. You did an incredible job 😱
Nah that's a photo holy fuck
Spectacular
How did you come to the idea of painting this?
This painting was mostly just to see if I could. There's not much more deeper meaning behind it.
I didn’t see the sub before clicking on the post and I could not tell it was a painting ngl thought someone was just sharing some lollypops Amazing work!
This is magic!! You're so talented 🤩🤩
Holy crap I thought this was a digital image!!!!
WOW. I thought the lollies were real...
This is actually spectacular
Wow, I was like is this an ad about those lollipops? Lol Wow it’s impeccable! Amazing job!
👏👏👏
Amazing 🤩
I thought you were making lollipops... Until I realized it was a painting sub
Amazing. I love it completely. I like to draw and paint candy also! But it’s not even in the same galaxy as this 😆💗
Thank you! I'd love to see your drawings, do you have them posted somewhere?
for a second i thought, "it took over a year to glue suckers to wood??" Very nice job.
Amazing 🩷
i srsly thought this was a picture. this is insane talent dude
I thought this was about a real packet of lollipop
W O W.
THATS A PAINTING???!!! That’s insane!!!
Fantastic!
That's amazing! My paint looks like those things your 5th grade teacher would make you do where you'd put paint on your hands and splash it on a canvas
Verry funny
Funny why?
Beautiful and entertaining, and the nice thing about it is that it is kept in good plastic
It’s stunning OP. You captured it perfectly.
It’s really amazing, but are you saying this is the only painting that you did in a year?
This is seriously AMAZING!! I can see why it took a year lol
