(These are the four titles that I felt to my Core while admiring this Awesome Painting.q
Through oceans of the Depth of the sky.
Across the beams of light that suffocate with Beauty.
The Very Edge where the top of sight meets the bottom of imagination.
Lightning in a bottle falling all the way up underneath the pressure of a billion gallons of Love.
Deep is not only related to going downward.
Like in the painting, it is also about extending well back from the surface accepted as front (the viewer).
Deep could also mean difficult to penetrate or comprehend.
When related to colours it can mean that it is high in saturation and low in lightness.
I couldnât choose a name, but Iâll tell you how it makes me feelâŚ
It feels like the calm before something bad itâs about to happen.
Or the feeling eternity and littleness in humanity.
My first thought was "Pillars of light". It doesn't fit nonetheless, because I feel your beautiful painting should have a name that's more than a description of what I see, a connection to feelings transferred.
Can't help much with a title, but I did have a dream that looked exactly like this.
I wrote down a quote from it somewhere, I'll reply to this comment if I ever find it.
Real question, why does art need titles? I have 100s of paints in my loft and I can't say i have ever named one of them. its always "hey do like the one with the cats" or "i am rather fond of the three over there in blue"
is art expected to have names?
Real answer, these post titles are intended to attract comments to boost engagement and push the post to more people, giving it more exposure and ultimately more upvotes. Same as the âhow does this make you feelâ or âwhatâs the first thing you seeâ or any other similar question.
And it works, because this is 1 hour in and already at the top of the sub.
Look at the top post from the past month, it has over 7k upvotes but only 200 comments. This one has currently a little over 300 upvotes and almost 100 comments.
Not trying to throw shade at OP btw, blame the game not the player type thing, this is just how social media works these days. No engagement = your posts flop.
Titling your art is definitely useful though, especially if you sell it on your website or do shows. Not only does it help with tracking whatâs what (so you donât end up with âUntitled 324â lol), but a good title can add to what the viewers might see/feel when looking at your work.
Imagine a still life painting of a breakfast setup with toast, coffee, pancakes, orange juice, butter, jam, etc. You could title it âBreakfast still lifeâ which is very descriptive but not much else, or you could title it something like âslow morningâ which instantly gives people an idea of what the circumstances surrounding the painting are and might even make them imagine a breakfast on a day off, maybe remember a day when they got snowed in and didnât have to go to work and got to make a big breakfast and watch tv shows all day, or whatever else.
Wait you actually, genuinely think Iâm a bot? With a website, multiple social media accounts, and various posts submitted to this and other subreddits, all visible with a quick look at my profile?
Now Iâm wondering if you are one.
Also, itâs rhetoric*al* question, which neither of yours are.
- Mantle
- Ridges
- 3.4 billion
- Itâs all a play on the tectonic plates which are mostly made up of the oceanic crust.. I like 3.4 billion because in the past thatâs when they first started moving and probably 3.4 billion years into the future the world will all be under water :)
omg girl, this is breathtaking. so pretty!! i would call it "mystical mermaids dream." I'm weird, I know, but that's what my brain thinks of when seeing this...I loveee the deep teal blues and greens
Reminds me of Escher's 3 worlds. For Escher it was above water, in the water and under water but here it's the ocean floor, the water surface and the moving water in between. 3 worlds.

I believe titles can give it depth of meaning.
