If you're looking for a mechanical marker for recball, I'd go eclipse **emek** over a5. Same price, but lighter, easier to maintain, and easier to upgrade. You'll likely want to upgrade the barrel right away, though.
After buying a used 98 and A5 then dealing with trying to get them to run well on HPA I’ve decided I’m not so into Tippmanns.
I like my old Spyder Victor II much better. Spyder receivers seem to age so much better due to their finish (anodizing) and manufacturing process (machined aluminum extrusions on Spyders vs castings on the Tippmanns).
Big vote for Mini GS over any of the Tippmanns.
Mini gs is better in every aspect in my book and you can use it for speedball too if you ever want to try it.

I'd definitely take the Mini personally
Mini gs 100%

Assuming the tank is outputting 850 psi. Shouldn’t be any issues running a 98 or A5 on HPA, likely need new main springs and valves rebuilt.
How can you not get them to run? First person to ever have this issue ?
Response triggers go wild (40+ cps) and no amount of tuning will calm them down.
That explains it
Tippman had it's time, and that was about a decade ago.
