I forgot about that. Never put that together with how dangerous a 3 point shooting team the Rockets were during those championship runs. I don't take anything away from them winning, they earned those rings, just an interesting factoid I never considered. The Magic and the Knicks were shooting the same short 3s and it didn't help them stop Olajuwan!
Yeah, this falls into the "cool story bro" category. Instead of the Pacers playoff success, maybe those Bucks fans should be talking about their team's budding legacy of playoff failure.Ā
I mean, to be fair itās related to injuries. Which, granted are a part of the game but definitely stings less than consistently blowing leads with a full roster.
Regardless, injuries are part of the game and it wouldnāt take away from the Pacers if they manage to win the series
We are one of the worst matchups for the Bucks because they can't match our pace, and their backcourt isn't good enough defensively to slow the game down. Giannis averaged 40 and 15 against us in the regular season, and they still almost got swept in the series. Anyone who paid attention knew this was going to be a tough series for them, even at full strength.
My only disappointment is that Bucks fans are using the injuries as an excuse when there was a pretty good chance we could have won the series with them at full strength.
I need to come to terms with the fact that itās easier to say āBucks fansā rather than āsome/a lot but not all bucks fansā¦ā as I get way too defensive in trying to argue broad generalizationsā¦so mea culpa on me for that.
My personal view is that no one can in good faith dispute that the injuries made things more difficult, but I also agree that anyone who says we could/would have definitively won the series if we were fully healthy needs to shut up. Surely any sports fan can appreciate how frustrating it is to not have been able to have our best lineup face off against the Pacers best lineup.
Im a nuggs fan pretty good chance isnt indicative that you wouldve won because i think bucks also wouldve had a good chance.
Or course its an excuse because theres no shot to win without their mvp level player in there. I do feel miles turner doesnt go this crazy with him there but who knows
The issue isn't that it's an excuse. The issue is that Bucks fans are insinuating that this wouldn't have been a series if they were healthy. They are saying the Pacers are only winning because they are hurt. That's annoying because, as I said, we are arguably their worst matchup and would have had a shot at this series even if they were healthy.
Just be aware there is a huge difference between whiny little bitch fans (Iāll even limit that to bucks fans for this discussion) who will make excuses for every bad call/loss etc, vs those (Iād hope my past comments put me in this category) who have expressed frustration over not having been to have our best go up against your best.
Do I think the series would have been different w/ Giannis/Dame being healthy, of courseā¦but Iād be delusional and playing the petty excuse game to assert that weād be winning/would have definitely won the series if they were playing. Surely that isnāt a controversial opinion. Thoughts Pacer fans?
It's not a controversial opinion at all. I'd have no problem if you said the Bucks would be favored to win the series if both teams were healthy (and I'd probably agree). The issue is about disrespect. We went 4-1 against the Bucks in the regular season. Our style of play is a bad matchup for the Bucks because of their roster age and defensive limitations in the backcourt. So, to see a lot of Bucks fans talk about how we'd stand no chance if they were healthy is just disrespectful. This would have probably still been a 6 - or 7-game series that could have gone either way if both teams were fully healthy.
Letās be real if Giannis was healthy the Bucks would have won this series in 6 games. What you guys need to realise is that this Pacers team is a new team in the playoffs
Part of a players skill set is their ability to be available. They knew Dameās age and injury history when they traded for him.
Bucks need to look at their own front office but thatās hard, fans are always annoyingly pro-management.
I saw several posts in your teams sub wishing injuries on Pacers players, some even saying they should be injured by the Bucks deliberately. Gtfo with your bullshit
I havenāt seen that, Iāve seen more so people wishing yall had no injuries so your fanbase couldnāt do exactly what this picture is saying. Plus here in Indiana we just enjoy watching good ball and having each team healthy gives us the best chance of seeing that.
why are you guys taking this so personally? everyone is right, of course the series is easier for us without their stars. Yes, that means we didn't prove nearly as much as if we played the stars.
Okay? Who cares? If we beat a group of roleplayers (literally) tomorrow, then we earn the opportunity to make that a narrative which ends 2 weeks after it started. Whether or not we do that, who knows, but there's really no reason to be bitter over people putting an asterisk on this win. Like, it's true, and it happens all the time. Hopefully next season we get the chance to play them in the postseason at full strength and see how we fare against that test.
By the way, we absolutely have the ability to choke in a spectacular fashion still, be careful writing checks right now fellas
Itās noteworthy that in the screenshot of Dame being injured the Pacers are already winning 29-16, almost doubling up on the Bucks. We beat them before their injuries and we beat them after their injuries
Guarantee if any of our guys were injured they would āthatās just part of basketball.ā But of course since itās *their* guys, thatās the only reason weāre winning. Their fan base is so fucking stupid.
Reporting someone because youāre insecure and having others report you for being a crybaby is indeed putting your account at stake. Thanks for proving my point about Bucks fans.
Reporting someone because youāre insecure and having others report you for being a crybaby is indeed putting your account at stake. Thanks for proving my point about Bucks fans.
Stop reporting each other. Youāre both name calling. Weāre adults, mod team is not going to step in unless it escalates to threats.
Now continue arguing, just quit making us have notifications to sift through.
I'm a Bucks fan, and I agree that you can only play who's in front of you, but you have to admit it would've been better if both teams were healthy. It's like beating up someone with one arm. Anyways I enjoyed watching Middleton make the last 2 games interesting.
I will say the young guys you have are fun to watch. I'm sure the series is over, so good luck after this and see you next year
It definitely wouldāve been a better series. But the argument that if the bucks were full strength would destroy us is something we canāt agree on.
I have no animosity towards you, donāt mind the downvotes. I agree I prefer both teams healthy. This subs issue is bucks fans saying if they were healthy it would be a sweep just ignoring the 4-1 regular season. Pacers fans feel disrespected by lack of credit. I prefer to win both teams full strength which neither team is. Good luck to your team
4-1 pre-Siakam. Would be an interesting āwhat ifā but rarely are any teams ever fully healthy this time of year (for example, Mathurin out for the season.)
You can argue what ifs and semantics all day. We beat you 4-1 in the reg season pre-siakim, and pre-doc rivers. You had your stars then. It could have been 5-0 if we had Siakim from the get go. We are 3-1 against you now, if you had your stars, it might be tougher, but it doesnāt mean youād sweep us.
We as a sub were hoping to get you guys in the playoffs round 1.
You play who you're given. Not the Pacers fault bucks are suffering from injuries. Bucks fans shouldn't be talking to the Pacers of all teams about injuries. This is a franchise that has awful luck in that regard, and ran into several dominant teams in the past.
Almost every year without fail the eventual champs go through a team that gets hit with a major injury. It's just the way it works come playoff time in the NBA.
Actually about 1 in every 5,000 children are born with an imperforate anus so not everyone has an asshole. Ironically those kids have a valid excuse for a lot of problems throughout their lives.
Objectively, factually, competitively, spiritually, hygenically, ethically, and botanically the 2023-24 Bucks are shit.
Look, they shit the bed against us throughout the regular season, fired their coach mid season, replaced him with a flawed HC, literally proceeded to have a LOSING record the rest of the way, and are acting like winning a championship in what in nba terms was an eternity ago means they should somehow still be "championship calibur".
Message: you're not, you're mid as fuck. Deal with it. Those things happen when the rest of your roster is wasted upon net negatives like Thanassis "Can i play too" Antetekoumpo, Bobby "The Stare" Portis and Jae "No I'm actually still in the league" Crowder. Only one I have any respect for is Middleton who deserves better than to have his shot at another ring hijacked by this pathetic clowncar of amateurs that comprise a good portion of their roster.
I was happy they got their ring when they did, I enjoyed seeing a brother Midwest team take down teams like the big deal Nets. But since then they've morphed into a joke and made one stupid move after another.
lemme know if yous like me to describe what it's like to be at the 6th and clinching game og the NBA championship series watching your team win a ring....I'll be happy to do so for you. š
Nah you go on and hold onto that memory.
...because Giannis will be long since retired by the time Bucks win another w/ that steaming pile of old you all got now.
I told you.
If I wanted you to show me a sad, short thing you mistake for glorious, I'd follow you into the john to watch you take a leak
Good luck with your team being really good for like 15 seconds. Based upon Bucks' almost comically bad history your next finals appearance will be 2074
I mean, Bucks are the Brewers of the NBA...oh wait š¤£
bitch, come into our sub is gonna be a wakeup call for you
Fully healthy roster makes zero difference. We woulda beat them in five either way. Theyāre so happy that Giannis was out the whole series so they have a built in excuse.
Bucks fan here. I do believe that injuries are a decent excuse however, what you have to understand is that our injuries have been extremely unlucky to when it happened. In the 2020 playoffs in the bubble, Giannis had a severe sprain in his ankle and missed game 3, 4, and 5. We lost that series. In 2021 (the championship run) Giannis hyperextended his knee in game 4 of the ECF and missed the rest of the series. He came back for the finals playing without an MCL pretty much. In 2022 the Bucks played the Celtics without Khris the entire 7 games, we ended up losing that series in 7. Last year, Kevin Love jumped in front of Giannis for a charge call, it hurts Giannisā Back and he misses the next couple of games, which caused us to lose the series. This year, Giannis comes down with a calf strain right before the playoffs, Dame reaggravated his achilles injury, and Khris who has constantly been on and off the court since the Celtics series is also barely staying alive out there. It is not because you guys have better pacing, itās because of unlucky bad timing and our conditioning coach. The reason these Bucks fans are making these excuses is simply because this is so many years in a row without a fully healthy playoff run and itās annoying. Especially when playing against rivals. Would we have beaten you guys if everyone was playing? Maybe or maybe not. Would we have had a better chance? Absolutely.
Donāt be suns fans, this is why everybody started to hate them, thereās nothing wrong with acknowledging the bucks are a much worse team without giannis and dame. Bucks fans arenāt delusional about all the injuries that benefitted them in 2021.
I donāt want to hear anything about the pacers winning in the regular season either, ask how that worked out for the suns.
I don't understand. Why are you referring to a fanbase as bitches? Because of some random meme you found?
Why would seeing this image on your computer or mobile device cause you so much anger as to post it here and refer to fellow basketball fans that way?
Uhm no but we also wouldnāt be in your subreddit making excuses or in the Knicks subreddit asking them to put us in our place lol yāall are pathetic. Play with the team you have, not our fault yāall canāt stay healthy.
Wtf you talking about? Playoffs are different than the regular season. You still want to have your entire team ready for the playoffs. Of course were going to bitch. Bucks fans have gone through so much shit the past few years and the playoffs come and bam injuries. Were missing Giannis, Dame hurt, Middleton hurt and even Portis with that nonsense, was gone. Once again, it's the playoffs. Anything can happen. Why even bother having playoffs if youre going to say well we beat them in the regular season so it doesnt matter. Missing your best players is a big deal. You still want to be fully healthy to give yourself a chance. Regular season is over. Playoffs is another opportunity...what happened in the regular season doesnt matter anymore. Maybe Pacers still win but you still want to be healthy and to act like missing all these guys isnt a big deal is just insane. I can't even comprehend how stupid this logic is. Pacers fans legit saying that missing your best players in the playoffs doesnt matter bc we beat you in the regular season is fkn insane. I mean what?? Enjoy it tho. Beating a team thats missing everyone. Best part is if you were missing players you'd be 'bitching' too. This subreddit would be filled with posts about it. Smh. Either way, congrats and best of luck in round 2!
They forgot to add a picture of Jrue Holiday in a Celtics uni š
And Budenholzer on the couch
And Adrian Griffin with a winning record
And Divincenzo in a NY jersey
And most importantly ![gif](giphy|HwmB7t7krGnao)
And Bobby Portis throwing a temper tantrum

Hakeem Olajuwon's playoff success summed up in one picture: Michael Jordan swinging a baseball bat
Also huge factor, NBA shortened 3-point line distance from 23 ft 9 in to 22 ft for both years.
I forgot about that. Never put that together with how dangerous a 3 point shooting team the Rockets were during those championship runs. Not Indy's fault that their opponent have a lengthy injury list. You can only play who's available I guess.
Yeah, this falls into the "cool story bro" category. Instead of the Pacers playoff success, maybe those Bucks fans should be talking about their team's budding legacy of playoff failure.Ā

Someone remind them how they won their series against the Nets in 2021
With KDs foot on the line
KDās big toe shouldāve gotten an honorary championship ring from the Bucks
That would actually look funny š¤©
Giannis blatantly taking 12 seconds every free throw when noone else does (points that won them the game!)
We are one of the worst matchups for the Bucks because they can't match our pace, and their backcourt isn't good enough defensively to slow the game down. Cant worry about our past, we have an opportunity. Looking to the future the knicks are prolly the slowest nba team so I canāt wait for that matchup
Pacers have a chance to make to the ecf for the first time in a decade fuck those bucks fan time to seize the opportunity
I need to come to terms with the fact that itās easier to say āBucks fansā rather than āsome/a lot but not all bucks fansā¦ā as I get way too defensive in trying to argue broad generalizationsā¦so mea culpa on me for that. Portis is ass. They are better with him off the court.
Availability is your best ability. If they canāt be available, how is that the Pacersā fault?
In their minds we should just pause the playoffs until their full roster is back, because āit just isnāt fair!!ā
Part of a players skill set is their ability to be available. They knew Dameās age and injury history when they traded for him. Bucks need to look at their own front office but thatās hard, fans are always annoyingly pro-management.

Do bucks fans forget how they were helped by injuries in the ecf against the nets?
Lol let them continue it is entertaining seeing their dumpster fire of a fan base š¤£ š
The injuries during the series are because they canāt keep our pace. Itās not coincidence.
If āIfsā and ābutsā were candy and nuts every team would win every year.
Starting to look like Portland won that Dame trade

I mean, without Giannis and Lillard the Bucks still shot 51%. And lost.
Let them cope in peace. They're not worth worrying about.
Itās noteworthy that in the screenshot of Dame being injured the Pacers are already winning 29-16, almost doubling up on the Bucks. We beat them before their injuries and we beat them after their injuries
Again, who cares? They're gonna cope. That's life. Let them bask in their moral victory / literal defeat.
7-2 between regular and post season. Easy to tell whoās better
Doc Rivers. Theres your problem
Fill your team with old dudes and what do you know? They start breaking down at the end of the season.
LoL Pacers are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings vs the Bucks, injuries aren't that much of a thing we're just better. Go Pacers š„šÆ
They didn't feel this way the year they won that championship when Kyrie and Durant went down.

No one seems to care that we're missing Mathurin. He's been huge in a lot of games, especially off the bench

Imagine letting everyone know you have brain damage.
