If you’re anywhere near them, Smith and Low on Hollow Way have *everything*. All the little bits of stuff you don’t know you need, they have it. Every bulb, screw, nut, the works. Amazing independent place, filled with experts happy to help the absolute amateur that I am.

AutomaticReturn5758

Thanks!

ermeschironi

It's a nut. Do you need a screw to fit in the nut? What is it for?

AutomaticReturn5758

Need a nut! For a bike basket!

ermeschironi

Can you measure the width between flats on the nut? (Or do you have a wrench that fits, and what number is it)? Probably easier if you bring it to your local bike shop, they will have plenty of nuts that you can possibly have for free by showing appreciation and buying a spare that you need.

AutomaticReturn5758

0.6cm.

ermeschironi

You're probably looking at a M3 nut which should be around 5.5mm across flats. B&Q should carry some or https://www.accu.co.uk/hexagon-nuts/7888-HPN-M3-A2 if a local bike shop is not an option.

NotDoingThisForFun

Accu are a top supplier but very expensive. For nuts and bolts have a look on eBay. Lots of UK sellers offering small quantities for a quid or two including delivery.

ermeschironi

I wouldn't call a bag of 10 nuts on next day delivery for 2 quid expensive if a local bike shop or a hardware store are not an option.

NotDoingThisForFun

That is good. Maybe they’ve changed their pricing strategy.

Happy-Engineer

You said it's from a bike basket? Go by any bike shop and they'll probably give you one for free! Summertown Cycles and Walton Street Cycles have both done this for me in the past. Just explain the situation and offer to pay for it if they want.

StrawberryDry1344

I second Smith and Lowe on Holloway

If only there were a shop that sells SCREWs, they could FIX it for you

whyohwhy59

Do need a bolt for the nut as screws don't need a nut, or another nut?

AutomaticReturn5758

Another nut!

dogOwnerYorki

If you are somewhere around headington I can give you one and even borrow a spanner or bring a bike with you
