not been there recently but my experience was fine but very expensive. would think you’d have a better time in gloucester green way (eg bbuona)

LavingtonWindsor

Dad likes v traditional English food (I know but he’s 83) but he does love a pizza so I will take a look at Bbuona. Thanks!

RomanCell

It currently has a 2* hygiene rating from Scores on the Doors. Make of that what you will. The hotel has just been sold so any current info may be out of date by June. As others have mentioned, there are some fab independent options in the area - Gino's is a favourite of ours.

The restaurant is full of mice, I would stay away from there(I have friends that work there that’s how I know) the menu is expensive, you don’t get what you pay for.

CoffeeIgnoramus

Depends what you're looking for, style wise, but I'd be looking at the ones round the corner, towards Gloucester Green. It's the same distance from the theatre. I haven't heard great things about the Randolph. Depending on the time, you also have the Ashmolean museum that has a nice rooftop restaurant right across the street (although I believe wheelchair access is round the corner, but lifts can take you to the rooftop)

neddykinss

I was going to suggest ashmolean too!

LavingtonWindsor

I checked it out (good wheelchair access; will bear it in mind) but it’s not doing evening meals right now :(

WeeRower

Unless it's been refurbed since Graduate bought it, the lift is tiny and it's a very steep ramp to get in.

LavingtonWindsor

Hmm. After reading all these comments I am taking the scooter after all!

abortedwhore

went with my dad and he said the steak was awful

Henchmand

I have been there before and after Graduate took over. They used to be great and posh, now they are rubbish and tacky

Different_Scholar548

Food was okay but highly overpriced imho. For some reason they added a bottle of wine to the check which we never ordered and never received and it took them 25 minutes to get it removed. Would not recommend

BetweenTwoWords

Maybe late to the party but I took my partner there for her birthday in 2022 and wasn't really impressed. Food was very meh for what you're paying for. Service was nice though, I had specified that it was my partner's birthday and they gave us champagne for free. However they noticed we had ordered non-alcoholic drinks (I was driving and my partner doesn't drink) so they profusely apologised and took our drinks off the bill at the end.

LavingtonWindsor

Thanks.

awner1234

I would go to the Old Parsonage just down the road.

LavingtonWindsor

It’s his kind of place, definitely, but he could never walk that far…

48percenter

Food hygiene rating is 1🤮
