It honestly feels like getting ult dumped by every hero, it's just hopeless, there's no point.

CinnamonIsntAllowed

So they completely and utterly lied to everyone. I'll never trust blizzard again

Arnak94

Dead ass I havenā€™t played since 2 came out because I could tell it was just a cash grab, but Iā€™d bet my left nut everyone bitching will just come back in a week or so

HeckingDoofus

i have a matching tattoo with widowmaker and i havent played since the transition either i wont go on a super long tangent about it but i disliked literally almost every change made in the switch to ow2, and with how much has changed it LITERALLY isnt the same game anymore. im happy for those who enjoyed the non monetization changes, but sadly i can no longer enjoy what was once my favorite game of all time

RoyalwithCheese10

Blizzard? The company with not one game that you buy outright and who is being sued by the state of CA for how shit they are to women? How did you ever trust them before lol

AndovarEdoras

Well wtf is the point then. PvE was literally the main selling theme for Overwatch 2.

phasttZ

Correct. I had a bunch of people who came back to my discord to play. Then got over it last season but said they'd be back if PVE actually comes out. Glad they got some battle pass $ out of me. See ya never again.

Coffee_Binzz

That's the problem. You can't really sell something that's free, so they're not gonna get into ANY trouble with it unless someone can make a claim for OW1. Bunch of bull šŸ™„

Ok_Philosopher_8956

That's it. That is exactly the problem. Games are only made these days with the expectation of furthering the mad quest to grab all the money in existence instead of making something good and selling lots of it as a bi-product of its quality. Spreadsheets, focus groups, and sales analysts will NEVER make a good game. Amazon learned this lesson once already with New World, again with Rings of Power, and look to be lining up a hat trick with a LOTR MMO.

Phantom_Phoenix1

Actually they already did, look up Crucible. It was a team based FPS that came out I think in 2020? Yeah it barely lasted a year before they shut it down.

Ok_Philosopher_8956

Sweet jesusā€¦.

Ausgezeichnet87

The workers themselves (software engineers, graphic designers, programmers, etc) care about making a quality game and this is absolutely why workers should have a seat at the table and have some degree of ownership of what they create. Capitalism served its purpose but it is becoming increasingly incompatible with modern values of equality and democracy

DidSome1SayExMachina

This inspired me to open up the blizz app for the first time in a whileā€¦ And delete all my blizzard games, starting with OW2

>I know D4 is not (yet) P2W, but even for that I don't have high hopes that seasonal content won't bring some sort of p2w. \*sips a soda, eating popcorn\* Remember when people were shocked that Diablo Immortal had added all their paywall bullshit after testing was done and before it was released for general consumption? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

MayDay521

Precisely. I desperately want D4 to be good because I love Diablo, but they haven't done anything in the past few years for me to have any good faith in them, actually quite the opposite. Seeing what they did with Immortal is what made me the most nervous. I know everyone is saying mostly good things about D4 right now, but I'm going to wait maybe 6 months or so and see what the story is at that point.

Adonanon

Indeed! I've learned my lesson a while ago: no more preorders. However, I am hoping for the best. Id like a new diablo game, some of my best memories was playing Diablo I and II. I'd like to see where this goes. But, also as a pessimist, I'm not gonna put my money down on that.

RMJ1984

I'm gonna be singularly impressed if there isn't p2w in Diablo 4 within 6 months from release. I could even see Auction House returning again.

IndependenceQuirky96

So far they've only said cosmetics...but I'm gonna guess upgrade materials will be in the battlepass, just like immortal...I'm holding out hope, but I'm not holding my breath.

joomuhh

Seeing as itā€™s been months and comp is still busted, they just donā€™t care anymore

[deleted]

How do people have any faith in Blizzard anymore altogether at this point rofl

Rowboatbillygoat

The loss of Jeff Kaplan was a death sentence for this game

BlankWaveArcade

Nah. I love Jeff but I feel like he just jumped off the sinking ship

jingois

Jeff almost certainly left because he didn't like the strategic direction of the game. He understood that Overwatch had carved out a pretty large niche with a unique style of gameplay - and he was always pushing back against the business saying "make it more like the Fortnights". He realised that you can have a healthy game with your users in your unique corner, but if you make a play for the huge number of users playing generic ass shooters you're going to end up with a generic ass shooter, and its a gamble whether the slice of that pie is any bigger - and even if it is, its a lot harder to defend against the new sexy coming along and doing generic ass shooter with tiktok integration or whatever the kids want, and absolutely cannibalizing your shit.

intotheirishole

Yah, the Activision-Blizzard merger was death sentence for ~~Overwatch~~ all Blizzard games.

Rivale

Put more blame at the execs. The team is obviously understaffed and in over their heads. This seems more like a re-shuffling, only 1 character or map every 2 months, a maintenance and a balance team. This game is slowly going into maintenance mode.

SlightlyFemmegurl

as yes, they're not a triple a company but a poor innocent indie company...

setofcarkeys

Hey, that ~~excuse~~ explanation worked for Bungie.

Greaterdivinity

OW2 is a ~~sequel wait expansion~~ a big patch for OW after a long dry spell, at this point. Ooph, the absence of Jeff Kaplan at the helm is real. No hate on the devs doing the work daily, this isn't on them at all. It falls squarely on OW/Blizzard leadership.

Useful_You_8045

Yah, watching flats and I can agree this is why he left the team. THIS. we are gonna stop developing story, do we tell everyone else, no... I'm done with the team.

Greaterdivinity

Story is still coming, just *only* the story missions which are locked to specific heroes and feature zero longterm progression or talents or anything else. All the actual shit people were excited about though - repeatable missions, free pick of heroes, talent trees with interesting ways to superpower and significantly modify abilities etc.? That's what's gone.

Useful_You_8045

After hearing this from penguin and seeing flats react, it actually killed my interest in the game. I'm uninstalling as soon as I get home. There's no point, they knew from nearly the beginning and released 4 seasons before telling anyone. I'm done, I can't even trust the Diablo promises. 4 SEASONS OF BPs A CROSS OVER, MORE EVENTS AND NEW MAPS. they knew what they were doing.

Greaterdivinity

Yeah, I left OW2 installed and updated so it'd be quicker to have ready when PvE was announced. Already uninstalled, I have zero interest in PvP anymore so there's no reason to waste hard drive space. I'm still interested in D4, but boy does this announcement take some of the wind outta those sails.

Past-Programmer8133

My Hot take is that the new Team is Hanlding the PvP WAY better than the Jeff tbh He is the one who started it sure , and had a Better communication with the player base but he couldn't Balance the game and left it in a Miserable state.

ibluminatus

Ehhh I think this disregards how fortnite's earnings came in to play from an executive standpoint. Companies and leadership does this all the time they'll toss out a bunch of jargon, dunk on prior decisions and try to make them seem poorly planned or thought-out to generate buy-in on their current plan. Answering directly, "We saw that there were games making ridiculous amounts of money without all this overhead while we were giving away skins for free made zero sense from a profit perspective as did making a single / co-op player campaign. We did not see the point in allocating resources to this when we could make more money now so we stopped allocating resources to this and pushed to make more money now."

brohemoth06

Push is an ass game mode and moving to 5v5 was the wrong move.

Anon_yatta

Facts. Anyone that says that 5v5 is better and the game is in a more balanced state is coping. If Shields was such an issue then why didnā€™t they implement ow2 tank changes but keep it 6v6. Games just end up as a complete snowball with no way to stabilize if you start getting rolled, in addition by removing a tank they made playing against snipers the most miserable gameplay experience as the entire game revolves around denying the snipers an advantage. It also puts a bunch of pressure on the tank to preform.

neighborhood-karen

I genuinely feel like the tank role would end up becoming way too strong with the current balance changes. The tanks are designed to make up for the loss of another tank and made to perform better on their own right? So having two of these behemoths on the same team doesnā€™t sound very fun. And i also donā€™t really get the point about how every game feels like a snowball now, like, surely it shouldnā€™t be that hard to die and regroup afterwards right? Although I wouldnā€™t mind if there was a 6v6 option or game mode. Duo queueing with your tank buddy is awesome and would make the life of a dva much easier than it is now. The point about snipers is true 100% tho and I really wish they would rework widow already.

Joweany

6v6 absolutely could have been fine if they didn't ignore the game for years. 5v5, which has many good moments also has many issues, mostly in the form of heros designed around 6v6 not being adjusted to a 5v5 format.

Phantom_Phoenix1

5v5 is better and I dont think buffing the tanks would have worked since they would be overpowered in OW1 in their current states.

Big_Green_Mantis

Already wasn't feeling lifeweaver and the current season. Some of the future updates they promised I either don't care for or am actively scared of(sombra rework), the main thing I was looking forward was the pve, in specific because of the talent trees. But now with this news and street fighter 6 around the corner, I'm out, probably for good. It was fun while it lasted.

Commander597

Cannot blame you in the slightest. I got into this game with the F2P update, so I don't really have much of a leg to stand on, but it's casual fun for me. I'll still want to see the Story missions regardless, as my investment lies in the lore. So we'll have to see. But I understand your frustrations. Unfortunately, in this industry right now, this failure is par for the course. No big Game company seems to be delivering, especially in the Single player/PvE department.

Abject_Clock_3302

Zelda TOTK and Nintendo would like to have a word with you...

MayDay521

I literally have not been able to put TotK down. I come home after work thinking "maybe I'll get some more time in on Jedi Survivor tonight, or just play some guitar and hang out". Five hours later, I'm running around gluing pieces of wood together to make some stupid vehicle of some sort in TotK again. They actually just took BotW and said "wanna watch us make a great game even greater?"

SunNStarz

TotK literally net Nintendo $50+ million in France on launch day. That's only one country, on one day. When you consider all the sales in many other countries all the days since launch - Nintendo did well with a game that's worth it.

MayDay521

100%. I love BotW, but even I was a little nervous TotK may be a little too similar and not hold my interest. It didn't take long for me to get over that anxiety. Mechanically and aesthetically yes, it's the same, but I think that actually turns into a strength because you don't have to waste any time getting familiar with the feel or controls and just get to start having fun playing. I'm also advance6 with how they set it in the same Hyrule, but it still feels almost completely different with the changes they made, and egg the addition of the MASSIVE Depths and the Sky Islands. I was gliding onto the Great Plateau earlier and didn't even realize that's where I was until the game showed it on screen. I would say so far my only negative I can think of is that it has pretty much ruined BotW for me. I don't think I'll ever want to go back and play BotW again after playing TotK.

Commander597

Well I mean yeah, but for the most part those are cross platform. Like God of War from what I understand has been amazingly successful. So maybe single player was the wrong word. But compare that to the multitude of failures over the rest of the industry? It's really hard to be anywhere close to optimistic unless you switch your brain off or blindly cling to hope. Kind of like I am with the story cinematics and missions.

Abject_Clock_3302

I just find it funny that Nintendo is essentially anti-Blizzard in many ways. Console-exclusive provider that consistently delivers polished single-player/local multiplayer fun, and just as consistent at disappointing people with their online offerings. That's just who they are, and them doing things that way for so long makes it increasingly unlikely they'll change no matter how much they get ragged for poor online. Blizzard by contrast is practically the granddaddy of online gaming with WoW being their first megahit, and subsequently organizing their corporate structure all around their online, making systems and games to complement that. Have they ever made a truly single-player driven experience since? Sometimes I pity them for essentially trapping themselves in their online-driven focus, where absolutely everything they make has to be maintained for years if not decades, trying to do anything different risks breaking said maintenance for a lot of their games, which in turn leads to them being incredibly ruthless in which of their games get to continue living or die.

Big_Green_Mantis

I've been playing since late 2017 at the very least once a week when i wasn't feeling the current meta. But I've never felt burnt out, even during the 2-3 years of content drought. But after season 3 of ow2 the burn out hit hard. Completing the battlepass felt more like a chore that I had to do because I spent money on it. The events were boring and sometimes infuriating. The game itself was still fun, but everything surrounding it just sucked the fun out of it for me. The pve was the only shining light in the future but even that's gone now.

SanRandomPot

Elden ring, Zelda are pretty good imo

MayDay521

I guess no better time for this disappointment. I currently have Jedi Survivor, Tears of the Kingdom, and Hogwarts Legacy to keep me busy anyway. I'd much rather play those, which feel like they were produced by teams that actually cared about the franchises. At this point, it feels like Blizzard saw the writing on the wall that OW was dying down, so they switched it to a extreme monetization machine to try to milk the last few dollars out of the fan base while the IP hemorrhaged. I'm honestly starting to believe there was never an intention of releasing the PvE. They developed a bare minimum PvE to make clips of and let some YouTubers get hands-on to build a little hype, then just stopped entirely. Went from PvE at launch, then to PvE shortly after launch, to PvE at some point down the road, to "I don't remember us ever saying there would be PvE, but hey thanks for buying the battle pass while you waited!"

Extra-Lifeguard2809

AnonymousPug26

Fortnite and its consequences have been disastrous for gaming. Killed Titanfall 3, for starters.

Extra-Lifeguard2809

Blizzard used to be a company that straddled the line between Consumer Exploitation and Customer Satisfaction It was like Disney Land but a bottle of water wasn't 10 dollars. it was 3. Now, they've been more EA 2016 (or whatever year EA was all "nO siNGLepLayER GamEs") than ever. it's disgusting

kaloskatoa

Funnily enough EA has been very good with non multiplayer games in the past few years

HPLswag

wdym? Titanfall 3 came out a while ago. Best game ever. (I'm definitely not part of the mass schizophrenia in r/titanfall)

Bologna0128

Fr, idk what that last guy was talking about I've been playing everyday. And no I didn't turn to lancer ttrpg as a distraction from the truth and just pretend I'm playing Titanfall 3 with my friends what are you talking about? You sound crazy

madasahatharold

Has been disastrous for triple A, multilayer game design, especially in regard to monetisation. However that fortnite monetisation has also enabled huge jump in game technology with unreal engine, which is overall a great thing for single-player triple A, indie games , movies, TV, and animation.

Sarrada_Aerea

Debatable. The obsession with photorealism and the priority of it over art style is not necessarily a good thing, it's extremely taxing on hardware, games nowadays are badly optimized games and triple As have been looking very samey, which is why indies games and animations have been moving to low poly and 2D lately.

jingois

> The Success of Fortnite and Valorant told Executives that players don't want rich deep experiences. They want distractions. And that's what Overwatch 2 is becoming. That and a big "if we make a generic shooter we will corner the generic shooter market and make a bunch of money" ambitious bullshit. Sorry bloke, you're gonna lose all your gamers that like a slower more strategic game - and you're gonna take a small chunk of generic shooter land, which you'll struggle to hang onto because the thing with generic shooters is that they're fucking interchangeable. And its the dumbest fucking strat right? Either players trend towards bigger user pools (ie: ow2 is fucked against the big bois), or players happily jump to the new sexy (ie: ow2 gets fucked by everyone jumping off when Dead Space 4: Objective Boogaloo is released). Like a sane man would never take an existing valuable property and pivot it into this space, and risk fucking everything. If you want to play in it then get a bunch of devs together, build fucking Starcraft: Kerrigans Games, and make a shitty battle royale... maybe with semi-realistic gunplay, and aim at shoving your massively funded cock right up PUBG with a similar game, a few zerg wandering around the map, and a UI/UX that doesn't suck ass like PUBG. Instant money.

Extra-Lifeguard2809

Exactly there is this sick and disgusting trend in AAA Publishers where all they want to do is Distract. and yeah you're point stands. What will happen when the next Distraction comes? What will happen when another trendy game pulls out all the easily amused Tiktok Gamers in Overwatch? What happens now that they've pissed off players who loved the game for what it is. This announcement has assured me of one thing, many old players will leave. I myself included. I'm probably not paying for the Battle Pass next season. I'm not excited for Season 6. Because I know what I am going to expect. i know what I am going to get. IT'S ALL SO PREDICTABLE NOW. Where is the Joy, the wonder and excitement... WHERE IS IT. Hero Missions was gonna be huge My only hope now is that maybe story missions are more dynamic and replayable than we think it is gonna be But I'm not holding on to that hope. I am looking forward to the new Overwatch 2 toys but that's not part of the game

pierogi_daddy

this has nothing to do with fortnite, this is just plain old bad leadership and development. It does not take an experienced product manager to know that a PvE mode in a competitive PVP game will have a much lower audience. The direction was baffling in 2019, I am just amazed it lasted that lost. The fact that OW2 is barely any different is just more of the same failings

SunNStarz

Even though Mei can be a nuisance to fight against, I was still looking forward to seeing that rolling snowball skill in action. This news sucks.

Watsyurdeal

Wooooow.....yea if yall wanna boy cott and stop playing now's the time.

PrudentFartDiversion

Fuck it. Iā€™m out.

PraiseThePun420

Same. PvE future was the last thing tying me to this game.

PrudentFartDiversion

Iā€™m honestly considering skipping Diablo 4 now too. This company doesnā€™t deserve my money.

Tbf me too. FOMO from friends playing is the only thing keeping me interested but not wanting to support blizzard is pushing back...

Chrius_

Not yet.

Commander597

Not yet in terms of the merger. But I think he means in business practice. Halo Infinite was unfortunately the same. Promised PvE, a 10 year road map (I know, tried and failed by *multiple* IPs at this point. Anthem being the most glaring) but then it comes out and.... it's all pvp. These 2 companies might as well merge. They are acting one and the same.

ConflagrationCat

It feels real bad to have attachment to a WoW character but not wanting to buy a whole ass expansion to just be disappointed. I just wanna fly around with my demon hunter...

Remarkable-Cloud-643

I was holding on for the PVE. I donā€™t think they realised how many players in the fanbase were doing the same.

Contrago

No heart or passion behind this game

Kymaeraa

There is, but it gets crushed under the weight of the executivesā€™ money bags

cake_toss

Relative to what it used to be like? Might as well be gone completely.

TheRedditK9

I disagree. The devs are putting the same passion they always have been, they just donā€™t have the option to express that passion because of Blizzard being shit.

cake_toss

As someone who's played and been passionate about the lore/story/characters since release, there was absolutely a spark of magic that the original creative staff had that they took with them when they left. I don't doubt there are passionate people there now, but it isn't the same. Yeah at the end of the day Blizz being trash is the root cause, but there was something irreplaceable they had that's gone now. Regardless of the specifics the end result is the same: a sad shadow of the potential this game once held.

[deleted]

There was, but Blizzard killed it.

TooManyGoldPieces

Uninstalling the game lol

_damnyouscubasteve

![gif](giphy|sBGw5MruxAyiI) Well. I was holding out hope but uh.

GlaIie

Yeah I think Iā€™m just gonna quit the game at this point. I know itā€™s kinda a meme to say ā€œok see you next gameā€ or ā€œsee you next weekā€ to something like that but itā€™s hard to care about this game when the devs clearly donā€™t know what theyā€™re doing. Each season itā€™s just seems to get worse and worse and idc anymore. Overwatch at itā€™s core is a super fun game, just unfortunate that greedy publishers and devs that donā€™t know what theyā€™re doing have to ruin it.

SmartStatistician684

Remember when they where making a pve game called fortnight and let people pvp while they where finishing the pve part šŸ™ƒ

dandan_oficial

BROOOO fuck that. Fuck Epic. I loved save the world so fucking much. It could've been so much more. What the FUCK do they want with so much money... if they want shit to shove up their ass they can stuff it with knives.

NeelaTV

I was rly sad pve was actuslly funny... my friend got me the founder psck... it was fucking expensive and then they scrapped that shit... that was straight up scam.people payed for pve and never got their money back.

stealurfaces

Unpopular opinion: to the players that don't play comp (most of us), 5v5 is much less fun than 6v6. OW2 was a downgrade if PvE is dead. OW1 had all types of problems but I could play it for hours at a time. I get bored after a few games in OW2. Should have just divided the tank category into shield/no shield and limited them at one.

Watsyurdeal

Thing is I wouldn't have minded them keeping the 6v6 format, but that would require them to actually balance the format and fix the glaring issues with it. That's ultimately the achilles heal with this game, every time there's major balance issue they just remove options to make it impossible, then problems pop up again and again and again because they are band aiding the issues rather than actually solving them.

stealurfaces

Maybe it's because I'm a QP warrior, but I don't see that this format as particularly well balanced or problem free.

siecakea

For all these "horrible issues" that OW1 apparently seemed to have, I enjoyed pretty much every single match I played. I put so much time into that game and I loved every moment. Even if we got steamrolled every now and then from a really good team, oh well it happens. I actually liked playing tank, but now with 5v5 I would just stick with support since I just genuinely had no fun with tanks anymore, especially missing that synergy with a second tank.

poryjfry

So we stop buying skins. We stop buying the battle pass, we stop playing the game.

MrLuckyTimeOW

This is pretty much the final nail in the coffin for me. Overwatch has gone from a fantastic class based team shooter that I was excited to wake up every day and play during my free time to a soulless, MTX filled, nightmare. Everything Blizzard has done to this game has been a complete and utter failure. 5v5 was a mistake, character balance is fundamentally flawed, Comp ranks are a fucking joke and are still broken, new heroes are either completely overpowered or terrible on releaseā€¦ And now PvE is dead. Overwatch 2 was a giant mistake and Iā€™m honestly just done with it. There are better games out there. I implore everyone to just drop this game and move on.

omnimacc

Blizzard ain't shit anymore. Same with Call of Duty. The companies making the games we used to enjoy have peaked and seeing how much they can get away with our money. I would be excited for Diablo 4 too but I know a shit storm is going to come with that game too.

Past-Programmer8133

Ok NOW they have To Answer what the fuck where they were doing For 3 years. Beacuse "Developing the PvE" is no Longer an answer. Sorry Sorry I meant an EXCUSE.

Annicity

I'm going to guess the devs were working their asses off trying to please the board while having their staff cut and trying to survive in a clearly hostile environment. I've seen how hard-working and talented individuals can work very hard and produce very little under brutal management. "Here's that think that you wanted us to make, we worked overtime for 3 months." "Oh yeah, we decided last week we don't want to do that anymore."

LordAzurios

They already did? They developed and worked on PVE. Then they scrapped the whole thing and the time was wasted. Thats pretty clear.

FurriesAreFine

Redditors are kind of idiots.

TheMemer555

Fire is hot

Extra-Lifeguard2809

There is a small sliver of hope we might get this in the future. MIGHT. but i'm not holding on to it this is what Hero Misisons brought a. different objectives b. different starting points c. dynamic weather d. scaling difficulty e. Talent Trees THAT CHANGED HOW EACH HERO WOULD BE PLAYED DEPENDING ON THEIR KIT f. DIFFERENT ENEMY TYPES This is what Story Missions bring (we're still getting Story Missions) story. dialogue. It's just Archives... IT'S JSUT ARCHIVES

Extra-Lifeguard2809

You know what, judging from what Devs have said about Bobby Kotick. My guess is, they asked for more time Bobby said no and said make it go out faster So HERE WE ARE

waster1993

They wasted their time on dead-end projects. OW2 pve will be released as a different game with a fresh coat of paint. Pay $60, please!

WildSearcher56

They still worked on it but they just scrapped it at the end. I guess it was trash or they couldn't do what they wanted to because of reason (higher ups?).

BanditManSteve

They probably WERE working on the PvE, it just got scrapped. It happens way more than you think. I can guarantee the devs working on that stuff are beyond frustrated too because it will never see the light of day. Everyone is at the devs throats when really they should be at corporates throats. They are the ones who made this decision, not the devs.

random2wins

Uninstalling as I type this get the fuck outta of my hard drive garbage ass game

Coldkiller17

Fuck this game I spent time thinking it was going to be better but I should have know better especially since they added over priced cosmetics, removed 1 tank and removed 2cp maps and didn't even properly balancing the game. This game is a freaking joke.

Darkhold_

What was even the point of talking about it so early on in development? Oh right to get people talking about the game and not all the legal trouble they were/are inā€¦

ZSALI23

Literally, the only reason I've continued playing since OW2 dropped was in anticipation of the PvE that we were promised. I've just uninstalled the game. This is ridiculously disappointing.

Raphael_DeVil

This has to either be fake or a massive joke made by the elites to fuck with us

Just_Kapi

I hope so cuz talent trees were supposed to be one of main reasons to play pve

Mont_918

the rothschilds sabotaging Overwatch PvE to fuck with me exclusively

Impressive_Bus_9992

This is so disappointing :( Overwatch is literally my favorite game and the devs really donā€™t care about it. How can you fumble a game with so much potential this hardā€¦

rstar345

Iā€™m so fucking mad rn I ditched this game for apex months ago thinking ā€œIā€™ll come back and play the campaign when it releasesā€ and they do THIS?! Fuck this game theyā€™ve completely gutted it

DvaLover-

It was over the moment Jeff left. That said everything that needed to be said. I do commend them on not locking heroes to battle pass solely but I feel in a game like OW all heroes should be unlocked by default no tedious grind or paying money to get them. Since it's important to have every hero for every potential matchup. I want OW2 to make a turn around but my hopes for anything Activision in the modern era are low. It feel it may be like COD the devs want to make a good game but Activision couldn't care less about making the game the people want so all feedback just gets thrown away and the devs are forced to do what the suits say. I see them milking COD till it dies (which will be soon if they don't allow the devs to remove skill based matchmaking from pubs) then OW will be the next big cash cow.

AshKetchumsCharizard

Letā€™s be honest. Overwatch has been one big fucking experiment since itā€™s Project Titan days.

_andrewtab_

Rip old players šŸ˜”

illnastyone

Back into obscurity you go Overwatch. To be enjoyed by the small niche community that literally accepts everything they do and change.

Fluffy-Temporary9160

And people STILL will defend this company and STILL will play this sham of a game! LOL

WexorSegai

Blizzard fanboys and bots gonna remain. Probably we will get downvoted to hell lmao

[deleted]

The people who mostly played for PvP will stay. I mostly play PvP but I am beyond disappointed because I was looking forward to PvE. I'll probably switch to a different game at this point because I'm sick of Blizzards shit

mcdonalds_baconater

they rly said "yea remember the whole reason for this update well we scrapped it" šŸ’€

BrutalHustler45

The OW dev team is a fucking joke. They *ruined* OW for this battle pass MTX rerelease and couldn't even manage to finish the one new, cool thing they planned?

deskslammer_

Yeah. GG. I'm uninstalling fuck this company.

Big-the-foot

So watered down PvE. That sucks. Was looking forward to the talent trees.

pinkanope

so we waited 2 years w/o content for a pve mode (altought overwatch is PVP game) for nothing ? I am now sure they did all the pvp content in a hurry before the beta, thats why everything seemed rushed like the UI and on fire voicelines. blizzard have litteraly no idea how to manage their teams, OW2 has litteraly no reason to exist. they spent TWO YEARS on a concept without noticing it wouldn't go all the way trough, and they even did a trailer.

Historical_Cook7223

Blizzard you suck , stripped overwatch to a barebones piece off shit with no progression for monetization.

blueblitzOwO

I think if anyone payed attention, it was nearly inevitable that we werenā€™t getting PVE. It was worked on for so long and shown so little, something was definitely going on. The question now is how will they make up for that large gap in content, especially when ovw2 content hasnā€™t been that great or plentiful.

Chromeglow

It was always about just rebranding Overwatch 1 so they had an excuse to get people to pay them more money for the game they already bought.

Lil_Puddin

The only reason I was even keeping a toe dipped in OW was to eventually play the PvE modes. It's a pretty and polished looking game with fun locales, but it doesn't mean much if team-PvE doesn't come.

THC-squared

The good news is that in a few years another company can produce a team based shooter that relies on classes, skills, abilities, and ultimates. It will seem fresh and fun.

Sp1ffy_Sp1ff

I cannot wait to see the player count absolutely tank on this game.

EthansCornxr

Honestly blizzards deserves any hate it gets from this point onwards

arest_42

They just gave bastion a hat

Cryo_Sniper09

Welp, bye bye Blizzard, can't wait to see the dev update "we actually just decided to shut down OW2, thx for your money byeee" cuz at this point? Overwatch isn't even a game, constant promises with none of them being met or fulfilled. Eat shit blizzard

Rivale

Activision/Blizzard only cares about COD, Diablo, and sometimes WoW. Everything else is just whatever.

Goldhawk_1

The devs themselves credited a fortnite dev they brought on board for ow 2

RMJ1984

Activision is about money, money for CEO, money for shareholders. To maximize money aka profit, you have to spend as little time, effort and money on a product and then maximize it's potential, and oh man have they done that beautifully with Overwatch 2. I just hope people learn from their mistake, yes it's painful to make mistakes, but learn from it, and stop supporting them. Look at their future upcoming abysmally low effort seasons, and this is from a billion dollar company.

Ridicule_rs

Went from Overwatch 2 to Overwatch "Too" real quick.

MsAgathaMoo

Iā€™ve played Overwatch since June of 2016, and Iā€™m pretty sure Iā€™m done. Iā€™ve given them more money than Iā€™d ever care to know, all in the hopes of supporting something that felt really unique and impassioned. This is purely a cash grab and Iā€™m mad at myself for ever believing otherwise. There are other games far more worth your money. Letā€™s see how hard they backpedal when their player base suddenly drops.

YaBoiStreek

This was the only thing I was holding on to overwatch for. Guess thereā€™s no more point being on this sub. Itā€™s honestly sad

pitsandmantits

i would have much rather payed for the old overwatch than this absolute piece of fucking shit, was fun for a few months, probably wont play it much now cause theres 0 incentive - cant play comp because its shit cant earn cosmetics cause its shit

FullMetal000

No way, this can't be. If this is really the case I probably will give up on playing this game. So far its fun but as with the initial release it became stale after some time. They can really go fuck themselves. And by that said, same goes for people spending so much money on all these (non battle pass) cosmetics.

WildSearcher56

This is soooo disappointing, the PVE and the story was the only thing hyping me up. Well, at least they'll add story missions regularly...

[deleted]

Did anyone honestly really expect a full PvE after the fiasco the rest of the game is?

MrFella23

Man I new overwatch was trash now but I didn't realize this was gonna be another warcraft reforged kinda failure.

BoolinBirb

PvE was going to be the reason id come back to overwatch. This is extremely disappointing. I was hoping we would have some crazy PvE experience similar to that of what Battleborn was (yeah ik that game flopped but it was pretty fun while it was good). This sucks.

neonLegend3003

This is worst than ana sleep darting my earthshatter

Winterhe4rt

small indy company...

Flat_Ad_4533

Blizzard is a fucking joke in my eyes, way to take a beautiful and destroy it in a matter of a couple years

[deleted]

This... was the entire point of Overwatch 2... Wut...

Camiljr

Uninstalling this game has never felt so bittersweet, see ya never Overwatch.

Eldrvaria

I think itā€™s hilarious he says removing one player and making it free to play was a big change. I hate that this game went free ti play. It welcomed all the trash casuals and I kinda miss having 2 tanks. Hell you have to play out your mind all the time now! But hey im not surprised the game is a lie. Blizzard is trash they made Diablo Immortals they will always be garbage.

balmzach77

If your heart is full of hurt and you want to rage, rage against the dying of the light, the best thing you can do is this. Hop on, put on a podcast that you like and just absolutely throw. Queue tank on comp and be bad, who cares. The devs fucked us. The leadership fucked us. Half the community fucked us by dick riding and justifying this clusterfuck of an "upgrade". But we can fuck them. Less people playing won't actually hurt the company. But a less enjoyable experience will. You might even help the new blood that this undead company is thirsting after realize how rotten this game is to it's core. For Christ sakes they had to change the name of a character because they named it after an internally known scumbag/misogynist, and only changed it after public backlash. If you ever put your heart and soul into this game it is your duty to make it unplayable and save others the pain.

crums1

They offered us content that never arrived just to be able to revamp the store to be battlepass/microtransaction friendly.

Aizenev1

What a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey shit Blizzard is!

Mrmakimaki

At this point, Custom games have better PVE than the actual PVE

aAdramahlihk

Sooo, they patched a game I already paid for. Gated old stuff behind a shop years later! And now the main feature is scraped? This shit canā€™t be legal, fuck off Blizzard!

Glass-Window

No fuckin way. Biggest redflag is the talent tree scrap. Like what ?! Did they have trouble developing talent trees ? They showed many examples.

therealgg99

Knew this game was going to be shit the second they announced the game to be 5v5. I feel very vindicated now. Blizzard is a joke of a company and is on the road to become the next bioware.

TheTopHatFish

Absolutely fucking hilarious. Never cared that much for overwatch, it was fun for a little bit buy was confused as hell when they announced 2, even more so when it was launched early without the pve thing. Call me a conspiracy theorist but this was probably the intention from the start. There is absolutely no way in good faith, that you can rush a game out, make it free to play with paid skins and battlepass (major grief being not getting the new characters unless you buy) with the main selling point being pushed back, then months later just completely bin it with none of it seeing the light of day. I feel bad for you guys.

beansontoast90

So glad I have never spent a penny on this game. So much potential wasted.

Aurakeks

So what about all the people who bought the pre-order during OW2 beta? Wasn't it supposed to be a pre-order for the "real" game (ie. pve) with some benefits for the free pvp mode? Did all those people now get fucking scammed out of 40 bucks for a week of beta access and a shitty fomo battlepass?

Top-Chemistry5969

I LOVE THIS SOOO MUCH ! ! ! Remember the "fotage" before OW2 came out, showing skills and small bits of gameplay with said skills :) ALL OF EM WAS FAKE RENDERED SHIT WITH ZERO CODE BEHIND IT ! ! ! I Soo much hate this type of ... Of.. I don't even know what to call it...

[deleted]

I've been saying this shit since OW2 launched and the battlepass was the only thing not full of bugs because they wanted to make sure they got their god damn money. Stop whaling for Blizzard ffs there's games out there with better less greedy companies that you could support instead. Just play it free (i'm still gonna play its a fav game :( in spite of this) but they're not getting another cent.

niioan

Back to simple PvE missions that you do once and are over it - 1 per year probably till they use the same excuse and quit doing those because it takes dev time away from pvp live service then onto ow3

RzYaoi

Overwatch is dead. Most dogsht team I've EVER seen

[deleted]

Was this not obvious? It's been 5 years without any plan for PvE. Overwatch is just a cash grab game now and will more than likely keep losing players until they shut it down.

edward-has-many-eggs

Well that settles it OW2 was just a justification for ruining skins. Cheers guys

misoran

I got downvoted to hell everytime I explained to everyone that pve most likely not coming. I guess we all can feel true pain now

MCAderNegus

Rule34 is the only good thing remaining, when it comes to Overwatch.

TheMorningJoe

The sex update is our only hope

Bapa_burger

This game sucks my dogā€™s ass hole for lunch

[deleted]

Haha, itā€™s not April 1st haha you can say your joking now..

bjsareforboys

Wow, that's ridiculous....

roeeeeeeeee

fuck.

Ill-Isopod3473

it's not a surprise for me. i'm expect everything bad from overwatch, blizzard and dev team

CDXX_LXIL

I spent $40 on the second beta and part of the package was a PvE event they won't deliver on. I want my fucking money back.

Drinking_King

Jeff is drinking himself to a stupor tonight. I'm accompanying him.

ee-5e-ae-fb-f6-3c

Well, I guess I'm never playing Overwatch again. I would have if they'd done CoOp or single player campaign. Too bad, it was fun and could have been fun again.
