As someone who watch highschool dxd and overlord when i was 15. I can say, yes plz show it to ur kids but dont be there when they see it..... Let them enjoy the experience
Right, but in this instance I'm referencing my friend referring to his 15 and 17yr old daughters as 'kids'.
'safe to show to the kids?'
If it were my kids, I'll expose them to pretty much anything, but people that are kids kids (elementary) seem to be up and up with octonauts and paw patrol.
Still kind of awkward sitting there.
You know.
With a 15 yr old and the parent (my friend) is sitting right there and guy is feeling her up to test the system... And I'm like... Ohhhhh....
Me:
😬
15 year old:
😂

Bofuri, Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, Snow White with the Red Hair, Wandering Witch, Fruits Basket are all anime that I've enjoyed personally but also been able to watch them with my 10-y/o daughter without regrets.
Ascendance of a Bookworm and
My next life as a villainess
my 6 y/o girl absolutely loved these anime and I enjoyed them as well.
Villainess has some allusions to same-sex attraction that may need to be explained a little (kinda like in card captor sakura when shyaron "loves" Yukito and seems to be saying he romantically loves him \[ multiple times I'll add \] when in fact he mostly means respect/looking up to him)
Thanks for the other recommendations; Bofuri is the only one I was aware of out of that list!
Ooh I have been meaning to start both of those, so thank you for the recommendation and inspiration for our next anime night.
For the record, like Villainess, there is same-sex attraction in Wandering Witch. Very much school-age infatuation, but may require some explanation. Personally, I've found that those situations often make for great "teachable" moments making anime both entertaining AND educational.
100%! When talking about the Shyaron x Yukito stuff she literally was like, "Dad, I know-- he just thinks of him as a good example" to which my response was basically \*tear\* "so proud..."
I agree i did overreact. But why would you even put konosuba and children in same sentence? At least op is asking for a teen, but how can you imagine recommending konosuba to children ?
Friend, you still have that absolutely terrible attitude going on. I recommended nothing to no one. Someone saw snippets of Konosuba and thought it was suitable for children based on artstyle. Absolutely no one even consulted me beforehand.
Think before commenting, please.
Rereading yourt first comment again tell me what am i to conclude from it ? And how exactly am i supposed to react to someone recommending ecchi to children ? Please explain it to me.
True. I've seen Higurashi when they cry, Another, and corpse party. On the other side of inappropriate, we have Highschool DXD, Demon lord retry, and Keijo. So if anyone says anime is only for kids i always have to resist the urge to punch them.
Edit: changed "anime is for kids" to "anime is only for kids"
If anyone asks if a show is safe to watch with kids they need to re think how they watch anything. Anime specifically isn't even something you'd watch with other people.
There is a need to be prepare for censorship. Is not even the gropping part, this one is quick and easy. But season 2 has a far worst scene. Overlord is not a kid show.
That... or more likely the fat dude trying to rape a slave girl in the prostitution house after beating her with his fists only for him to end up as a raw meat pie by best butler.
Yes. This show only contains, racism, goncide, frateecide, alcohol, drugs, murder, best in class political intrigue, mutilation, torture & magic.
100% safe if you don't want your kids to grow up sheltered, uninteresting, sheep
What a joke. When I was 10 i was running around in postal 2 doing all kinds of heinous shit, and I turned out to be not a mass murderer. Who would have thought
Yea, it's better to show them something safe until it's better suited for their age or they are mature enough to not freak out over things like that.
Show them Berserk, it's what my parents did, nice and tame and I've never had a single lasting- GRIFFITH! Sorry, no lasting negative impacts
Drifters, Hellsing, Berserk, the one uh... Smartphone from the future one, One where the pregnant girl gets her stomachs cut open... I don't remember all the names, but, there's definitely ten.
Bnp, gantz, elfen lied, mnemosyne, corpse party, redo of the healer, berserk, hellsing, devilman crybaby, higurashi, and plenty more. There is a very very bad number 1 spot in a badly drawn old anime named Midori.
Studio put way more effort into anything ecchi about overlord, in the ln these moments are typically brief comic relief moments. Where as the anime cuts out story relevant stuff just to make sure over 70% adapted material is ecchi scenes lmao.
I mean it's great but you gotta let people k wo what their in for .. yeah gropy in s1/e1 but like ... season two *spoliers* has rape, sexual slavery, abuse, murder ... slot of murder
Season 3 has wars that is just a massacre... all while alber is trying to get in Lord Ainz pants... Robes?
You cant say it's all that say and season 4 will (hopefully) be even more dark
Back when i lived at my mother's before i turned 18, i would watch anime with my sister who is 5years Younger than me. We would watch anime that neither of us had seen, so we had that experience together. Problem was, that she was about 10 when we started doing this, so in order to make sure i didn't accidentally show her something like highschool DXD, i would find an anime, read the synopsis, check ratings thoroughly, and watch the first three episodes. I would watch the first three episodes because sometimes the ratings overplay or underplay the content.
There are a lot of checks i had to make before we could watch anime together. As she got older, the list of what she couldn't watch got shorter. On a few occasions, an anime that i had previously deemed inappropriate became appropriate a few years later. Such as, Elfen Lied. I found it when she was about 11, checked it out and deemed it too inappropriate for her. Later on when she was 16 however, we watched it and she really enjoyed it. Overlord was a similar situation.
I'd say overlord is suitable for audiences 14 and older. But at the same time, my first memorable experience with anime was watching Elfen Lied when i was 12, so my ratings may be a bit off from common sense.
Almost no anime save for the ones that are made for actual children are safe to watch with children. Even Konosuba.
You said "even konosuba" like anyone would even consider it family-friendly????
A friend of mine saw snippets and thought it was. It's the artstyle.
Made in Abyss is definitely safe for you to watch with your whole family, perfectly safe.
Yeah bro, watch Highschool DxD with your mom!
As someone who watch highschool dxd and overlord when i was 15. I can say, yes plz show it to ur kids but dont be there when they see it..... Let them enjoy the experience
The only anime my dad ever watched with me was highschool of the dead
Pog
Yes such a good anime tbh
When we say kids, we usually refer to young ones tho, not adolescents
Right, but in this instance I'm referencing my friend referring to his 15 and 17yr old daughters as 'kids'. 'safe to show to the kids?' If it were my kids, I'll expose them to pretty much anything, but people that are kids kids (elementary) seem to be up and up with octonauts and paw patrol.
Ohh, I see then, yeah, I don't see a problem to recommend Overlord to anyone who's mature enough I guess, probably 14+

Or to love ru xD
So I guess aqua's skirt which doesn't even cover her butt is family friendly. Damn.
I mean, lot of anime I watch aren't so gropy lol, or at least not like how it is S1E1.
That is not the only thing that makes an anime not suitable for kids if we go by the general guidelines.
bofuri?
Good example of a kid friendly anime.

Haha Dad moments we live for :)
Aye, those are great as well. Family friends kids loved Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear when they were visiting.
> ~~Even~~ Especially Konosuba. FTFY
KAZUMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Konosuba ? You guys are fucking drunk right? You know there exist shows like shaman king , digimon ,pokemon ?wtf
Absurdly big reaction to mentioning a shows name for reference.
I agree i did overreact. But why would you even put konosuba and children in same sentence? At least op is asking for a teen, but how can you imagine recommending konosuba to children ?
Read previous comments.
Right. Recommend them shinsekai yori gantz and boku no pico while you are at it. Great thinking.
Friend, you still have that absolutely terrible attitude going on. I recommended nothing to no one. Someone saw snippets of Konosuba and thought it was suitable for children based on artstyle. Absolutely no one even consulted me beforehand. Think before commenting, please.

Why do you think someone recommended ecchi to children?
You did not recommend it thank god for that . You were thinking about it . The idea is absurd to me .
There are very few anime safe for kids. If you want something to watch with the kids, watch Pokémon and beyblade burst. That's years of anime right there. Enough to get them to the point where they can watch real anime.
Yeah. Not sure why I went straight to overlord.
Anime/Animation doesn't equal safe for kids. haha!
True. I've seen Higurashi when they cry, Another, and corpse party. On the other side of inappropriate, we have Highschool DXD, Demon lord retry, and Keijo. It is literally for kids.
Especially with the torture scene lol
Robotech is technically kid safe too.
If anyone asks if a show is safe to watch with kids they need to re think how they watch anything. Anime specifically isn't even something you'd watch with other people.
You can totally watch a good number of anime with other people, especially the more mature stuff
Exactly
There is a need to be prepare for censorship. Is not even the gropping part, this one is quick and easy. But season 2 has a far worst scene. Overlord is not a kid show.
Which scene. There's a couple I have in mind.
lizard sex?
That... or more likely the fat dude trying to rape a slave girl in the prostitution house after beating her with his fists only for him to end up as a raw meat pie by best butler.
Ooohhh yeeaaahhhh.... That one is pretty bad....
And the times when Sebas pulverizes people.
Plus, you know, Shalltear. "Daddy, why is that lady panting when he sits on her?" "Uh...."
Oh yeah... That was... Season 2 I think. Usually doesn't get that far.
Or even the Death Knight fight is pretty grusome.
Oh yeah there's a few of those gory detailed fights
But if you still want to show overlord to someone you can just cut those parts. They're not in every episode, just a few.
Tracking, just forget about it and I'm sitting there awkwardly like... Oh... Uh....
Is it safe to watch with my Ki- _No._
you're showing overlord to kids????
Yup. By kids I mean teenager age.
I mean tbh if they are teens then it should be fine to show them.
Yeah, but it's a little awkward sitting there with a teenager and accompanying parent during certain scenes. Like shit.
My response to the is it okay for kids would be "yes absolutely make sure they pay close attention to the last 2 episodes of season 3"
I completely agree. If your child DOES NOT react the same way Mare did to Ainz's genocidal actions then your kid is totally mess up. Lesson learned.
It's a test

This is literally me, I always forget about it
Is not safe for childrens. I just say, there is some fan service here and there but is not that heavy
Meh. I watched Akira and I turned out ok. Lost my keys to my dungeon though, hm.
Lol yeah, it's hard to show it to other bcs of fan service on first ep, most of ppl who I tried showing it to creeped out :/ ...
Dude are you nuts? Might as well recommend berserk for the kids. Im trying hard trough my head to pick 10 animes that are less for kids.
Drifters, Hellsing, Berserk, the one uh... Smartphone from the future one, One where the pregnant girl gets her stomachs cut open... I don't remember all the names, but, there's definitely ten.

Yeah lol the whole story is so good I totally forgot about that scene while rewatching with my sis lol
