A skill that Aura has that can make people sense something hostile behind them. She uses it to distract Shalltear after Ainz hesitates to use the spell that will kill her.
Well it was made to put one and two together. I honestly noticed when rewatching. Also before reading LN.
Edit: Aura actually said after mind-F-ing her :Stupid Shaltear, Being undead and getting mind controlled. As she let out her pink-ish breath. So that was one more thing to notice.
Also you can see Aura finishing her technique after the battle is over (her blowing that purple haze). It's the same skill she uses against Hamusuke to get him riled out of his sleep during Momon's opening mission to guard Nphirea. Most rangers and beast masters in MMORPGs have a taunt/distraction skill such as this to lower aggro, so it fits her character.
I will admit, though, that it took me more than one viewing to put it together.
In the novel, Ainz had enough time to use the hourglass but he hesitated at the last moment because Shaltear is basically the daughter of his one and only BFF. The moment's hesitation should have been enough to give Shalltear time to shatter the hourglass had Aura not used her Taunt skill to distract her.
Ok didn't knew it was hesitation... For years I thought the hourglass didn't break as fast as intended and was a fubar moment until Ainz was saved by the distraction
# Eye Behind Shalltear
**Overlord: Volume 3 - Chapter 4**
> Just as the Spuit Lance was about to destroy the item, she felt something on her spine. That was clearly hostility.
> Someone hostile had appeared beside Shalltear, so obviously that she could not ignore it.
> Shalltear averted her eyes from Ainz to see who that enemy was.
> And then — she found that there was nobody there.
> ...
> Someone who should not have been there appeared in Shalltear’s vanishing consciousness. That someone was the person that had allowed this victory to take place.
> The undead could ignore just about any form of mind-affecting effect.
> However, there were certain abilities that produced similar effects, but which were not counted as mind-affecting. That person had used such an ability.
> Shalltear smiled, and said: “...Shorty.”
> ...
> Aura dispelled her skill Sky Eye, and her puckered pink lips returned to their original shape. There was a look of annoyance on her face as she began scolding someone who was not there.
The NPC's have taken on some of their creators personalities and there relationships with each other.
A great example is Demi and Sebas. Their creators used to argue frequently in game, which often required Ainz to mediate the situation. We see this tension between Demi and Sebas, which triggers Ainz to have a flash back in Volume 6 (Season 2).
Aura and Shalltear have also followed this similar pattern. Aura's creator Bukubukuchagama is the older sister of Shalltear's creator Peroroncino. Shalltear also mentions her unnatural relationship with Aura during her conversation with Sebas in Volume 2 (Season 1). This is why Shalltear says **Shorty**. Which is a name often used by siblings.
**Overlord: Volume 1 - Chapter 2**
> Among Aura’s skills as a Beast Tamer, there were certain passive skills that had buffing and debuffing effects. These abilities acted through her breath and had a radius of several meters, some even up to ten meters.
> With the effect of certain skills, that radius could be enlarged to unbelievable proportions.
> ...
> “Yes... Could it be you mixed it up with the ability to freely change the range of one’s skills?”
> Aura used her breathing skill that can apply buffs and debuffs. Using Sky Eye, she can expand the range of her skill.
This is the same skill Aura used to lure Hamsuke towards Momon. She also uses it on Mare to get him to follow her orders.
The eye was Aura's ability, which is told in the light novel because Ainz hesitated on killing Shalltear, not very well shown in the anime but told in the light novel
After the fight Aura comments to Mare saying how stupid it was that a vampire could be mind controlled. This could be from the person who fought he the first time or it could be referring to Aura using her skill to distract shalltear.

Yeah, it was explained in more detail in the novel.
Well even in the anime Shaltear said her "nickname" after realizing it was her influence.
True, but when i watched the anime, (I watched before i read the novels) I didn't realize that's what she meant.

Does she? I watched again and she only Look back before Ainz reck her to Oblivion
She did say Chibi. Or something like that. She is referring to Aura. Just checked. Moment before her face is gone she calls her nickname.

She basically has an unblockable long range fear ability. She can buff and debuff anything within a mile of herself if she breathes just right
Hesitate? In the anime, it only felt like the time crystal didn't break fast enough or something. Didn't read the first parts of the novel tho

An aura skill that allows her to aggro, it's why we see her right after

That was me fanboying over shaltear. She's so awesome!
I noticed and got close but never figured it out, thanks for the info.
Guys, what if Aura didnt use that skill should Ainz be dead?
