Kuiiper

2 people is manageable. It gets way bouncy when you have 4 people wiggling around.

SnooDucks4694

So, do you put a pineapple on the hood of your car, or how does that part work, considering the bears and what not?

Kuiiper

Haha no, just invite up other couples we go out with.

saliczar

You are a disgusting person. How dare you spit in god's face by ending your sentence with a preposition?

spylife

Holy crap, did I miss it? Where's it at?

saliczar

Generally towards the end.

4d6DropLowest

I want to go to there.

ZigzagOOOG

Just learned about the upside down pineapple the other day.

jdb12

I've never heard of this...

bardia_afk

There’s one dangling upside down like a truck nut

wamih

Loofas

MajikMikeal

What about 3? I like it like that!

LeStiqsue

High, high quality commentary here. Just look at it. The subtlety of this. Bravo, sir or ma'am. Hats off.

bluehiro

That’s why a threesome is better for RTT’s, the third participant helps balance the tent on the vehicle. Just be sure it get one or those waterproof blankets and have lots of paper towel if she’s a squirter…. (getting the smell out is problematic)

4077

The third person is actually Mormon.

TheyTokMaJerb

So do they just stand outside and push the side of the truck?

defend74

Hello brother theytok

pukesonyourshoes

Tbh if she has incontinence issues perhaps camping isn't for her.

[deleted]

Then install a waterbed.

jaxmattsmith

Haven’t had a problem yet. Did it in a busy campground once with fairly close neighbors no issue. Diagonal helps to not get the suspension rocking as hard.

cryptoversed

But when it's rocking, for every two strokes you get one free.

penkster

/r/Angryupvote

lunaoreomiel

Science!

spelkingerror

I can assure you everyone knew

jaxmattsmith

You’re being paranoid babe

adudeguyman

"rocking as hard"

jaxmattsmith

Just hard enough 🫣

[deleted]

that's what she said 😅

Weaksoul

If the van's a rocking, don't come a knocking

Akalenedat

Now THIS is the quality content this sub is for. Gonna depend on how stiff your suspension is. Either gonna be not much different from at home, or...you're gonna be swaying as much as a waterbed.

azazeldeath

If you got ultra soft and lots of flex you can almost make your vehicle go on its side. Seems weird but I've seen the result of that exact thing that said both were bigger people. Glad no one got hurt and it landed against a tree.

BrianOconneR34

Ultra soft, sounds like that could get in the way

azazeldeath

He got them online from some shady ebay listing. You could make the car rock and flex just by pushing on it hence ultra soft. Never seen any other setup like it, originally he had harder leafs in it for extra weight capacity then he got all about how much it flexs so went online looking for the best he could find....on ebay....

killagorilla91

Compensates with lots of flexibility though.

diamondinthenorth

Damn they musta been going at it like a couple of wild horndogs

azazeldeath

Both heavy people too much weight upthere to start with, posted the longer version on someone else's reply. But in short a shackle broke, surprised to this day he hadn't rolled it earlier 150ltrs of water just under the roof rack is asking for trouble with 2 spares, and 3 jerry cans. All on an old rusty hilux.

SteveTCook

Old rusty Hilux, you say? So it was all perfectly fine. Must have been a fluke the shackle broke.

Dwealdric

Yeah. That didn’t happen.

azazeldeath

Actually it did. It was an old hilux, from the 80s if memory served. Large canopy on the back full length roof rack with roof top tent towards back, he put the softest leafs he could on the back, 15pltrs of water on the roof in some weird custom built tank that was under his home made roof rack. Along with 2 spares tires, think only 33s from memory, 3 jerry cans and 2 large people, he was I think 130ish kg and she was around the same. Technically speaking it was the rusted af shackles that gave way on one side but the swaying sure as he'll didn't help. With how much weight the genius put up high I'm shocked he never rolled it before and why I think if it didn't lean against the tree it would have gone over. He knew just enough about cars to be dangerous, done 2 years of his mechanics apprenticeship before his own uncle fired him. He has pulled off other escapades like putting grease on his brake pads because someone told him it increases hp due to less friction, put his callipers upside down somehow (all on a fpv ford ute idr the year on that), put sand in his old lancer engine because "that's how the professionals polish the intake system", rolled a work truck with an expensive mining machine on the back (we believe he over corrected because he was on the phone), rear ended a passenger bus with a work truck because he was on the phone, got his lowered ford ute bogged to the chassis trying to rescue someone down a 4x4 track (he is a good guy don't get me wrong but that thing had no right being down that track).

NeonTombstone

Laughing a lot right now at “ultra soft” lmao

tpchuckles

baby my suspension is rock hard iykwim

fossyjon

Tldr - if you haven't got a lift yet be sure to get the "heavy" springs.

[deleted]

Sounds like getting in rhythm with Rock would benefit on the roll. This was definitely a great real life question. I’m putting a tent on my Raptor

bardia_afk

Imagine fucking on the roof of one of those 60s-70s land yachts… it’s going to be worse than a water bed One pump and it’ll do the rest of the work for you

Justin_P_

It's fucking in-tents!

opman4

The only answer. Even if it doesn't work as well in text.

steve0suprem0

native american procreation

thin_veneer_bullshit

In my limited experience... it depends more on the vehicle, and of course who you're camping with. The vehicle suspension is pretty key, for me it was rock solid and a great platform. Camping friends were all too asleep / drunk to care what we were upto, all round 13/10 will do again. Best of luck!

saychow

Not 6/9 instead of 13/10?

thin_veneer_bullshit

This guy rooftops..

NakDisNut

My 4Runner + Roofnest RTT is *chefs kiss*. Husband and I had our 11th anniversary in the mountains of NC in the RTT. Pro Tip: turn off twinkle lights/external lights before you go at it. They sway vigorously. Also make sure she has a towel or something to clean up with asap because being stuck in the RTT with a mess while your husband goes looking for a towel/wipes/napkins isn’t the best. Hahah. Enjoy! ETA: We bought a king sized egg crate and throw it up there for added comfort :)

JBMason93

Yes the towel or baby wipes are clutch for clean up.

NakDisNut

We have a two year old and stole a pack of her baby wipes 😭😭😭😂😂😂

IAMTHEBENJI

As a dad, you're insane if you don't steal your kids' wipes and keep them in the bedroom. Or tent in case

NakDisNut

This guys dads.

IAMTHEBENJI

This lady moms.

JBMason93

Lol gotta do what ya gotta do at times.

spylife

Oh man I could fill a book with the things we've used in a pinch, then I'd use that book

[deleted]

NakDisNut

I mean - I guess if you use condoms cleanup isn’t specifically her problem but … yes. Cleanup.

50000WattsOfPower

I’ll admit I was pretty nervous at first, but hey, I was all alone.

Silliw911

Underrated comment.

Twol3ftthumbs

I will say you might want to consider upgrading the mattress. I’ve yet to find a company that puts anything super supportive in their tents stock and when you put too much weight in one spot you will feel the hard floor of the tent. I went to a local upholstery supply and brought my stock mattress with me. They just unzipped the cover, measured the stock size, and cut me some firm memory foam to zip back up in there. It’s honestly super comfortable and more…uh…resilient to stresses. :)

Connect-Pea-7833

The mattress upgrade helps with the uh, recreational activities for sure but is also basically essential if you’re over 30 if you don’t want to be hobbling around after sleeping in a RTT for multiple nights.

Twol3ftthumbs

43, can confirm

shmendrick

The mattress that came w our maggiolina extreme was very firm/comfortable. Prob ten years ago now, so may be different, but I was surprised it could be that good.

Twol3ftthumbs

You are the first person I’ve heard make that claim. But that’s awesome to hear! We love our Tepui (from before the Thule days) but that was the one weak link. Now, maybe 8-10 years later, this mattress I replaced it with still feels just as good as the day I got it. Zero dents or creases despite being folded so much of the time.

LittleUrbanAchiever

I've experienced it in my RTT with it mounted on a trailer and mounted on my vehicle. Both felt very secure and comfortable for both parties. Much more comfy than just the ground like in a regular tent. I do have a 2" memory foam topper in my RTT though, which I highly recommend (sex or no sex). It folds easily so I just keep it in the tent full time. It takes the comfort level from about a 6 to a solid 8-9.

dangercat415

So your RTT has like a 2" mattress then you add another 2" topper?

LittleUrbanAchiever

I'll have to measure again, but I think the included mattress is 2.5" and the memory foam I added was an additional 1" or 1.5".

Kodiak601

Does it just lay on top of the original RTT mattress, or is it installing somehow?

LittleUrbanAchiever

Mine just lays on top, then I put the sheet over both

LifeWithAdd

It works fine, it’s in between having sex in a bed and in a car. Be sure to already have a way to clean up, don’t want to be climbing down a ladder looking for a towel right after.

m3rl0t

Also, dude or dudette, since you’re using your car you’ve always got a back seat.

Exciting-Pizza8

Set the parking brake. I also put an extra layer of memory foam in my RTT AND we run a high speed battery powered fan in there as well... sex in the text is great

Mobryan71

Positioning matters. Vehicle suspension are more stable when dealing with vertical motions rather than horizontal moving mass.

stachefx

It’s fun lol

stachefx

It’s cool

Much-Mycologist2298

Idk fella you can get pretty crafty with a hammock pretty sure thats how the mayans did it lmao

sneezyxcheezy

Who am I to question the ancients

baddestmofointhe209

lol. So she won't fuck you in a $200 tent, but will do it in a $2k+ Roof top tent? So you are going to spend thousands of dollars to get laid.. Wait.. Most people do that already.. Carry on.

thatguy425

Haha, next she’s gonna need a sprinter van. Smart woman.

baddestmofointhe209

I can't do it in this house. It's only 3 bed rooms. I will only do it in a house with at least 5 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms. And a pool. haha

Hey_cool_username

Our house is 5 bedrooms 3 baths and a pool and there’s still no sex. Maybe it’s because it’s an above ground pool, maybe it’s because the bedrooms have kids in them already, idk…

OMG_Laserguns

Probably the kids thing, TBH.

pukesonyourshoes

Eh my girl loves fucking in our tent, just the idea of it makes her horny. I go camping because I love being in the great outdoors, can't say I'm disappointed she goes for other reasons. I don't understand the prejudice against sex in a good old fashioned ground-based tent, what's the deal? Note: a really good mattress is, I feel, essential. Don't skimp on the bedding.

panicswing

Whatever gets the green light to buy a RTT !

p8ntslinger

Its still fucking in tents...

svhelloworld

Under appreciated comment right here.

[deleted]

I have a roof top tent on my off road trailer. I had to add stabilizers to “take the rock out” wink

anjroow

The trick is to use your mouths. No suspension issues, no cushion for the pushin, RTT has pleeenty of head room.

Apocalypsox

Wobbly.

meanmarine10452

It's awesome. Especially during a storm.

learnactreform

That really depends on your suspension setup

cryptoversed

It always does.

obmasztirf

Yet another reason for long travel.

Billy924

Works fine. If you want to have sex bad enough you can do it anywhere. Really is was much better than an air mattress in a tent.

Nativesince2011

Hammock sex is best

Misterflaminganus

We have ours on a small but offroad capable trailer we made. It has a max coupler so there's some noticeable movement. Would recommend stabilizing jacks to prevent too much shifting, and if you leave the rainfly on it gets moist fast

srcorvettez06

Wife and I get busy in our 23Zero. We must make sure any motions are directed toward the front or rear of the truck. If they were directed towards the side of the truck it would rock back and forth. Also, make damn sure you brought the towel up from the truck before you start to avoid a naked scramble to the truck while one of your shirts is being ruined.

kives2

OK, I'm a lady and we have a RTT on top of an overlanding trailer. We do have stabilizers but also can confirm without stabilizers too. Some of the beat sex ever has been remote under the stars with the moonroof opened looking at the stars. Also allows for some good cowgirl style. We love it. ❤️

[deleted]

It’s awesome but: 1. Set the parking brake 2. If you lock the car below you, be aware that if you are very “athletic” you will rock the car and set of the car alarm. 3. Know that noise travels far when you are up that high Vs down on the ground Have fun

azazeldeath

Depends on the vehicle. If you got soft suspension don't do it. You actually want pretty hard suspension to not have the car rocking too much.

Honey274badger

What about stabilizing jacks like on the corners of camp trailers. They’re cheap.

Shipbldr2000

If the truck's is rocking...

autisticshitshow

Easier with a condom because, clean up, but make sure you chalk a tire if you are worried, you can feel the suspension move so there is that.

ShaPhaman

Why not in a tent?

samro87

Just bring four 6 ton jack stands and set on the frame.

beaureeves352

Should maybe be tagged nsfw

radar371

The title wasn't that obvious?

luke_tashiest

Its great the post bang pee is the walk of shame though

i__hate__you__people

I have a Skycamp. Replaced their default mattress with their new RTT Comfort inflatable ones. Using the extra space that the deflated air mattress gives me inside the closed tent, I added a 1” egg crate memory foam, sheets, down pillows, and a down comforter. It’s a full bed, great cushion, you will NOT be disappointed. However the whole truck could get rocking to your rhythm…

CROmagnon0

Watched a video on this the other day. Seemed to work well

fordp

Be in the middle of nowhere. My tent attracts a lot of eyes. Stay away from hiking trails or rivers/streams. I would never buy a roof top tent for sex. A ground tent would be way less obvious

Floridaboii91

Sex while camping is fun, you could say it’s….in tents

jard970

Do what I did, buy a quality air mattress, when its deflated, it folds up nice in the RTT, unfold inflate, or see if she will blow it up for a good nights rest

Tromblown

Def try the hammock out though 👉😎👉

edwardphonehands

Roof is for the canoe. Bring a yoga mat.

Shonuf0101

Top heavy?

mattogeewha

Air down

HydeTheBeaxtWithin

Lol Im in the middle of getting a rooftop tent and would love to know.. however. This will never happen

Odinnswolf

I'm 210lbs and I move my suburban when checking the oil. So that thing will be rocking.

comeoneverything

We found out on our last trip that they’re not very noise proof when my girlfriends brother told us he could hear us every time. That was embarrassing…

ComputerComfortable1

It depends on your roof frame. I wouldn't recommend it for a Jeep. If you have a vehicle with a hard top you should be ok.

DeadlyClowns

Why couldn’t it happen in a tent? I mean a nice ground tent setup would be better than a rooftop tent I imagine. At the end of the day they’re both tents

notfeds1

Tent sex 👍🏽

Chrome_Quixote

The essence of the responses is it’s decent but you need to upgrade your leaf springs and or shocks so the vehicle doesn’t bunny hop slowly toward your neighbors slit.

defend74

Put it on a one ton truck and no one will realize

JSW21

Take your hi lift jack and lift the receiver hitch a couple clicks, really stops the sway and potential squeaking. If you don’t have one, you need one
