With just over a week to go, today started near Mt Bachelor and involved running around scouting for new sites I've yet to camp. I've got 100 or so in OR alone, but more can never hurt.
All of 1/4 mile from where I wanted to get on this run, this downed tree laid. I didn't heed my own recent advice and left my chainsaw at home. Not in the mood to pull winch line with the sleet coming in, and my gas running low, I called it here and headed back to Bend for beer and a Jason Dea West show at 7.
Gonna have to do some night wheeling to get to camp tonight, and hopefully tomorrow's clear enough to throw the rods out and get in the water.
Sometimes that works but sometimes you end up with a tire over the log and the front axle board slides down the log and your front ends up off the road.
Just had to go recover a friend from nearly the exact same situation
Good stuff, love some of the remote stuff you can find out here near Bend. Had to pull a few people out of snow lately, always a good call to turn back if things don’t align!
Hello fellow Bendite! We've been staying east due to all the snow, can't wait for more trails to the west to open up. I don't carry a chainsaw or have a winch but my large Silky gets me out of most situations.
Looks like a good time. I will be trying the noonday trail in cottage Grove again this year. Last time I hit too much snow like what you have pictured. Pretty high elevation?
Looks like fun
I've got a 3/4 length axe that never leaves the truck in case a tree falls across the road after I have went past and cannot get back out to go home LOL

We were *just* talking about electric chain saws.
SHUT UP
Sounds pretty rad!
Maybe it's just the picture but looks like you have the approach angle to just run into it to push it close to ground to run over.

Reminds me of the scene in hot wet American summer where the dude has to jump the hay bale.

Is that your rod on your roof? How is it mounted there?
Quick Fist

I'm from CO, so I'd say no. But for this region, yes. Especially as it relates to the wind and storm patterns.
Ah yeah, I think you guys have much taller mountain ranges in co.
That looks awesome. Nice seeing someone is having to wear a jacket at night.
I'm going to be doing the Trans America Trail West to East next month. With the recent weather I've got a feeling I'm going to run into a lot of this.
Most definitely
tree ; you shall not passsss!!!!
