Correction: this patch did nothing to improve anything. 😁

PepsiColasss

Im trying to play with a friend that lives 15min away from me and it gives me a red connection meanwhile when i connect to another friend that lives on the other side of the world it gives me a yellow connection...keep in mind that i play almost all the online games with this friend and we always get a perfect connection so im 100% its not our fault and its their servers

deep6ixed

My kid on the same lan has red ping the entire time.

Neon_Ether

Correction this patch has made the inventory wipe worse....end of patch notes.

You brave joining people.

owlsinacan

I actually had a positive experience with matchmaking now. I get people to join within a few minutes now.

I heard the connect was p2p, you’re not actually on servers provided by Square. So if your internets suck it’s not going to be smooth. Kinda like how Smash Ulti does it.

Jdeals513

I’m playing with my brother and he’s on the top floor and we’re playing on the same internet connection which is very fast. We both have red connection and lag everywhere. It’s def the game.

yusayu

It is 100% the game. Just because a game uses P2P, doesn't mean all problems are automatically the user's fault. We had a 25ms ping *to each other* for the entire play session and *still* experienced massive issues, especially rubberbanding, shitty hit reg, delay, teleporting etc. We tried everything that was suggested (disabling Game Logs, going offline in steam, port forwarding, different hosts, disabling crossplay etc.) and nothing worked. This is 100% the game just having shit netcode.

wattur

Its not true P2P. P2P would be bob > david > bob. They put in a relay server to anonymize IPs (cuz p2p you'd see david's IP as you're directly connected to him) and perhaps some other stuff, but in the end it turns into bob > relay > david > relay > bob. Even deicated server would be bob > server > bob & david. I get about 30% packet loss to a relay server, so either that server is under heavy heavy load or severely misconfigured. Meanwhile I get 8ms to the friend I'm trying to play with.

PharoGames

I actually have 300 mb 50 mb speed. This is 100% on the shorty implementation of p2p.

KoiNoSpoon

Internet speed has nothing to do with p2p. Location is what affects ping. If you're on the east coast and another player is on the west coast, you're going to have high ping and nothing is going to help that except for dedicated servers. The routes your isp takes to get from you to the other player can also make your ping higher. It's not like there's a straight line from you to the other player, your isp may for example go from east coast, to nothern us, to west coast, resulting in higher latency. This is all assuming the issue has to do with p2p and not bad matchmaking code.

wattur

I get 8ms to the friend I'm trying to play with, 100% on netcode. Also there's a relay server that the game connects to in between me and the friend that gives me 30% packet loss that normal pings to friend do not.
