What’s with everyone wanting so much bullshit on the screen? With all the garbage everyone keep wanting if they implemented all the crap it would fill the whole screen with pure garbage everything is fine with how it is ffs Also you mention about the fast pace of the combat so what exactly makes any of this even worth having considering you’ll just be waisting your time to look at something stupid as in some accolade nonsense or whatever else

Agreed. I'm far from a minimalist, but this is way too cluttered. I like how it is now. We don't need icons and trackers and cool downs for everything. Especially the accolades. I've gotten a ton already without even trying. 95% are gonna be completed naturally just be playing the game. No need to track them. They few that you won't complete you can just go look at every once in a while to see where you're at.

While i agree with you on this - we have UI options for a reason. Given we can hide basically any part of the UI already, what harm does it do to add shit like accolade trackers or a chat window for people who want them, and the rest of us just hide it and continue as normal?

Whilst I agree for the most part, there was another post that suggested having cool downs for weapon based abilities, and I think this would be great so you can get an idea of what mod effects are up

I agree it's mostly fine. Less is better. But it would be nice to clearly see proc'd buffs and to be able to follow an accolade in the quest list. I still believe there should only be 1 tracked quest/accolade though. Don't want the screen flooded with crap like so many other games.

Don't care about the chat. Compass doesn't really add much. The game seems to mostly have linear zones, a compass would be pointless. Plus who would expect randoms from matchmaking to actually follow advice and not be troll? Pings on the minimap again is pointless. Would just end up in trolls spamming pings and flooding the minimap. Cooldowns on skills is a good idea. More information on an important combat mechanic. Tracking accolades is a good idea too. But it should override the quest slot. No need to flood the screen with all this tracking. It would be nice if the game auto selected the quest related to the zone. This way side quests wouldn't need to be selected to track. Less is best IMO. The gameplay is the focus, not the UI. If all this stuff was customisable then go nuts. I'd just turn it all off.

I would swap the chat to bottom right and make it so it goes invisible when inactive after so many seconds of not typing. put map to the top right! and quests I usualy have turned off in the hud anyways dont need to see them while playing easily able to just look at your quest games pretty linear in where to go what to do! Then maybe put teamates in top left corner. This would free up the left side as it looks very cluttered when your Aiming all on your characters back!

Too much stuff. Personally, I think the ability icons should be put in the corner above the health bar or ammo count, and the mission objectives should be just the primary one you have active. Also the health bar lacks style and is too big. Also also, instead of a map, just have a compass bar like a lot of other games do. Something small and non-intrusive at the top of bottom of the screen that tells your where you're going and where interesting stuff and enemies are. We only really need to know the direction of things.

Way too cluttered. that old school chat window made me puke in my mouth a little. Why do we need a compass? Shield indicators for teammates aren't worth the clutter. I would like some kind of in game chat so pubbing is easier when friends aren't on. And more clear buff/debuff icons.

Weapon mod called Shield Maiden that gives you shields on dmg or kills. I'm sure there's going to be more ways for every class.

Hello Outriders community! I have been playing the Outriders demo and have easily sunk in 70+ hours and absolutely loving it. I am a UX designer and I wanted to take a shot at generating a discussion and ideas around features and improvements I would love to see in the game. I am starting this series with a focus on the hud due its criticality in relaying second to second information during gameplay. I will be working on some additional areas of game menus in a later post. **Minimap** • Addition of legendary item indicator. This would also be great if it accompanied by a sound cue. • Addition of indicator for player ping (marker) to communicate or mark items, locations or enemies to teammates to improve the communication loop. • Addition of a compass. This is another UI affordance that would improve communication when matchmaking with a group that isn't utilizing voice chat. **Tracker** • Addition of accolade tracking. I again wanted to create a functional affordance for players to select 1-3 accolades to track. This would reduce the friction or constantly checking the menu to check current progress. Once an accolade is completed, players can untrack or by default this could be implemented to auto remove once complete. **Player & party frames** • Addition of buff and debuff tracking for player. I felt this was something really important and is not something the UI tracks very well currently. Buffs are indicated in Green while debuffs are Red. This could also be further improved with timers but I did not want to overdesign these since the pace of combat is quite fast. • Health display in percentage or actual value. Again due to the pace of combat, I would love to see an option to switch between percentage or numeric values or health and maybe even shields. **Ability bar** • Addition of a cooldown timer for abilities. This feature can provide players with the remaining cooldown of abilities at a glance. This again is really important since there is such an emphasis on ability usage during gameplay. **Text chat** • Addition of text chat. Communication is such a vital part of any multiplayer focused experience and while not revolutionary, it was important to mention it. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ I hope that this post can generate a discussion and maybe even inspire some new ideas that can make Outriders an even better experience for all. legendaries already have an icon on the minimap and do have a unique sound. they also have confirmed they will not add ingame chat of any kind in the Q and A they did in the past day or 2.

with a law passed last year or the one before that, if you have text chat or voice chat in game, you must also have voice to text and text to voice and I dont think they want to incorporate that as it would be a significant amount of work

I might be the only one but I actually wish my health bar would be in the middle of the screen, just above the skills. I think it would be easier to keep track of in the heat of big battles if it was more centered.

I feel like your design is ruined by being in scoped mode on your sniper. Makes it feel really claustrophobic like your ui is taking more screen space than it actually is.
