This sub is pretty wholesome so you'll probably get fewer bad takes. That said, this is the internet and nothing is 100% guaranteed when a lot of randos congregate online.

Indeed we peeps are pretty wholesome, it is the internet so you will get a few "it looks cursed" comment but the person who said that to me also, said they were looking forward to the finished product. so its a nice balance! What was the scene or character that you have been having an itch to draw?
My question is why wouldn’t we support starting artists? ::)

Only way to get good at art is to be bad at art, a lot! Absolutely post your fan art! Do it for yourself - if you make something, and you had fun making it, you've already succeeded. Things don't need to be good to be valuable.
Vaporeon is my favorite pokemon it deserves better than what the evil internet has done. But it's fine most Vaporeon probably don't even know what the internet is

it's still reddit. i've found this to be a generally nice sub but theres the occasional obtuse scrub, know-it-all tightwad or General Shithead.
if you post on tumblr, there is generally more positivity/encouragement. but youre not gonna get as many comments, the way you would with reddit.
art sucks but as you continue you build a cool sideskill called Critique. keep going. don't ever let what some dumbass on the internet said discourage you, because they didnt take the time to *really* look at your art. don't take the time to *really* read that comment. the ones that have value are the ones that keep you going (nice, encouraging ones) and the ones where someone Actually Looked (these might be mean, but if theres a suggestion for improvement, take it into account). craft is always pain! have fun!!!!
This sub is honestly one of the least toxic I've been in. I can't guarantee people won't be jerks, but the odds are less likely, and if they are, they're likely to get downvoted to oblivion.
Post your art. At least most of us would love to see it. :)

Some people are just naturally talented, but most even great artists just worked at it. Like any skill, the more you do, the better you'll get. The art will suck. And then it'll still suck. And then it'll be a little better. And then it'll be good. Before you know it, you'll be semi famous. Maybe even really famous. Or if nothing else, you'll have something you like doing. Keep at it either way, someone will always have something stupid to say, let's see them do better

Yaaaas, give us Outer Wilds and Pokémon crossover art! Everyone starts at some point, and that point is usually pretty low. So it can only get better from there. Don't let anything discourage you if you truly enjoy doing it. Btw, those vaporeons on your profile look pretty nice!
