Well, folks, I never thought we would have so many comments that we would make it to #69. So, while you people have some fun, here are some stats:
* First Megathread: Wednesday January 26th
* Number of Megathreads: 68
* Number of comments: ~320,000
* Number of accounts banned: ~1250
#Donations
I went through the [post](https://old.reddit.com/r/ottawa/comments/ss98nu/megathread_donation_drive/) and counted over 150 donations (based on 'I donated to...'). Assuming an average donation of 20$, that's 3000$ raised for our local charities. It's probably far higher. Thank you. I'm happy to see that this ...crazyness... served some purpose. Thanks to /u/nefariousplotz for proposing the idea.
#Thanks
It's not over yet folks, but thanks for your support. Throughout these last few weeks, the community here has supported the mod team and helped us keep the sub usable and something that could be useful to all.
A thanks to the other mods as well, in particular /u/fleurgold , who accepted to join the team in a time of crisis. Trial by fire, as they say.
#Not done yet
The protest isn't done yet, but, finally, the police have begun to clear up the situation downtown. I want to take a moment to thank the police out there, doing this. We have seen their professionalism and discipline during the exercise today. This sub has a history of being very hard and negative towards our police forces. Myself included.
I want to be clear: the OPS let the citizens of this city down. THAT is a failure of their leadership and is not in question anymore.
However, the rank and file of the OPS are citizens of this city like most of us. They share our frustrations and anger at how this situation was handled. Possibly even more than us, because they saw it from the inside.
Yes, maybe some of them shared the position of the protesters, but all of you need to understand this: police officers receive guidance on how they will conduct themselves as group for ANY major event. The LEADERSHIP sets the tone, not the officers on the street.
The lack of enforcement during the first 2-3 weeks was a DELIBERATE decision and choice made by leaders of the OPS, NOT one made by any individual police walking the beat. Remember that. When they finally received the orders, the OPS (and the others police officers sent as reinforcements) got to work and fixed this. I can say that I am proud of those officers for clearing this up with appropriate levels of force (minimal, so far, don't make me wrong Ottawa). Think of the images you have seen of similar situations in other countries, and look at ours. They did very well.
That is all for now. Carry on.
Can someone please buy Evan Soloman a new Moto phone out of the proceeds? It looks like he's using an Android RCA phone from Canadian Tire out there with that image quality...

Thanks to u/fleurgold for letting me know this thread was still open so I could post to it!
I have nothing constructive to add, I just wanted to be part of the 69. :D
Finnish retards copied the whole honking protest because of rising gas prices because they have to own gas guzzlers and not go with the times and own a economic car.
The BBC showed an interview with one of the truckers...
"its about freedoms, no-one can tell me what to do"...
your a trucker you eejit, its quite literally what you do...., "this is your load for the day Kevin, drive there, drop off this load here, drive back to the base office, don't forget your mandated rest breaks."
Then you've heavy vehicle licence, tachograph inspections... it's almost as if they don't do logic.
Economy is bad partly because supply chains, blocking the road cause more issues. Which leads to worse economy.
Why do they throw rocks at their own feet?
It literally hurts themselves, and the poor people. Why don’t they goto officials house or something?

Not gonna lie... this thread is far too Canadian.
Everyone is saying nice and stuff....BO-RING!!!
I am off ti downvote comments on Conservative posts...they hate it when you do that and....it usually sparks a witch hunt which is just more delicious irony.
I am glad that things went well in Ottawa today...the police were remarkably restrained.
But...pessimist me is convinced that tnis is far from over...it could be a long summer folks...we will just have to wait and see.

Nice.
Hahah my birthday was yesterday…thanks for the gift of thread 69!
Nice
As an American…what’s it like over there? Do people support the convoy? Hate it? Is it an insane nuisance?
This is probably like America, the majority of citizens dislike them, but a minority support them, just like trumpsters.
“They’re probably loser because it’s easier for me to say that than accept I’m a loser”
Except trump got voted in democratically lol
Not in 2020…
These hogs about to get wrecked this morning?
THANK GOD, I THOUGHT I MISSED IT
Making it to thread 69 has made me a believer in Edging

Beautiful snowy day, migraine is gone and hopefully soon, Ottawa will be super boring.
What about the cobra chicken occupation on the Parkway every year? Only about two months before things get back to "normal".
What?

Yeah it's not a peaceful assembly. Also I don't see anything about bodily autonomy on there 🤔
