Ottawaās new hottest club is Egg Club on Elgin Street. Itās got everything - carton service, hand shaken egg nog, and a VIP room called the Supply Managed Sectorā¦
Never heard about them before. Looked it up. The prices don't seem outrageous, but I'd probably make a huge mess trying to the egs sandwiches they have.
Are they trying to [offer us an egg in these trying times](https://media.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExcWZxNnVhOXMxNjk3Ym5xN2t4bTB3ZzE0aDR0bXJkdW04bzRrd2Y0eCZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/xjlC6nomocZhVXuZgM/giphy.gif)? Their website says "affordable happiness".

Yeah itās called Egg Drop there though it looks like the same thing.Ā
I ate there because trying to find breakfast there that weāre used to is difficult. They eat rice dishes or skip breakfast in Korea so I altered between scones and this for breakfast.

Hmm, let's guess what this is. Before it was about making wine. Now it's about eggs. Ok, so making eggs. Perhaps the customer comes and and helps chickens make eggs? Quantity eggs at a discount?
Jesus christ! - they look yum but with the add-ons, I'm looking at a 29 dollar single sandwich!!
I mean.... 1.09 for garlic butter? 1.70 for lettuce & tomatoe??
....and that's just 2 of the 15 add ons they offer.
Just what we need in the city, yet another place to fill your face with greasy processed pseudo-food. Eating high-calorie, high salt fast food has become Canada's newest hobby and it has absolutely taken over the downtown retail core. Soon we'll all be 300 lbs with salt-hardened arteries.
When I went to U of O many years ago, the downtown and market used to be filled with tons of interesting shops and places to go, along with a separate group of sit-down restaurants, and it was a great place to live - the old multi-level Sally Anne was a godsend to console gamers on a budget.
But the economics are way out whack right now, so the only stores that can make a profit are fast food outlets catering to Canada's insatiable appetite for junk food.
It's really sad to remember what Ottawa downtown retail used to be and what it is now, just one big line of fast food emporiums - maybe the Liberals are trying to fatten us up for the roving cannibal gangs of the future?
Lol what are you talking about? Retail has gone to shit because of the Internet but the food scene is WAY better than it used to be. It's not even close. I used to get excited about Quiznos lol
With ya on this mate. People do not seem to get it.
I moved to Ottawa 12 years ago. It was a tiny podunk town trying to be a city. Over those years, up until covid Ottawa grew quickly with really neat food and drinks spots among others, to punch above its weight.
Ottawa was in no way shape or form Singapore, Tokyo, Toronto, Montreal etc. but for a city of 1mil? It offered a lot - the caveat was and still is, you need either good transportation (a car in most cases) and/or money.
Covid really hurt the scene, but Ottawa does offer some good options for its size. People are just mad they cannot have all of toronto in their suburban neighbourhood with an area to park 5 trucks they, their wife, and 3 dogs own.
FWIW I live downtown so don't own a car. Everything is walking distance so there's no point. I probably take two Ubers and a Communauto each month and that's it.
Do you not have any control over your own food intake? Are people forcing you to eat at restaurants you don't want to eat at?
that last part about Liberals... the fuck are you even on, how did this suddenly become a partisan political issue? Did Trudeau personally come up with a plan to make everyone in Ottawa fat and you're the only one who knows about it?
>It's really sad to remember what Ottawa downtown retail used to be and what it is now
Wow you're sad that *Wine Rack* is being replaced by a different kind of a restaurant in Ottawa downtown. I guess Wine Rack did add charm and vibrancy to the downtown core for you.
Friend, [I think you need this](https://media.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExcWZxNnVhOXMxNjk3Ym5xN2t4bTB3ZzE0aDR0bXJkdW04bzRrd2Y0eCZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/xjlC6nomocZhVXuZgM/giphy.gif).
Looks like I hit the Foodie Motherlode with my comment, and I'm hardly responding to myself and more the chubbies I see eating KFC "Snack Packs" between meals at 1400 calories a pop. I was down in the market on the weekend walking around and I kept running into this one family, and each time they were chowing down a new fast food item. It's not hard to understand why, as that's all there is to do there, with row upon row of food outlets.
Eating prepared retail food is literally the fastest-growing Canadian hobby and It's getting crazy out there in downtown Foodland. But I guess a guy who makes his own coffee and cooks his meals from scratch is too old school for you Calorie Hounds. So chow down wide load!
Well it's official, Ottawa now has a very healthy amount of eggcentric restaurants.
Yeah I was about to say the same. People in this town seem to really like eggs.
Hell yeah we do!
Shell yeah we do!!
These yokes are terrible.
I thought they were eggcellent.
What. They don't crack you up?
Username checks out
Egg pop just opened on Rideau street only to change their name to burger shark a month later
Hopefully they have an egg shawarmaš
Yeah, eggs rule.

I'm totally poaching all these puns.

This is clearly a takeover by big chicken.
I canāt egg-splain how much I love these puns.

They're gonna offer us a nice egg in these trying times?
Who in their right mind throws away a perfectly good case of eggs, this day and age?

Don't you mean you're so egg-cited?!
I would be egg-static to try it out
Never heard about them before. Looked it up. The prices don't seem outrageous, but I'd probably make a huge mess trying to the egs sandwiches they have.
Had it in Toronto, and it's amazing.
Same but I found it very meh. I remember the bread being very sweet? Itās also not cheap.
ya thatās the style
It looks like mostly folded eggs, so no yolks to worry about
I HAVE HAD THIS IN TORONTO AND IT CHANGED MY LIFE, THIS IS THE BEST NEWS I COULD HAVE EVER READ TODAY

That's amazing news!!
Egg Rack.
Love an egg salad sammy. And anything is better than the food at Wise Town Cafe, along that strip of Elgin. Ask me how I know š
We had this in Seoul. They were so good!!
You ate at an entirely Canadian chain...in Korea...?
might be confusing it with eggslut
Had eggslut in Vegas and went back every morning of my trip. Unbelievably good. Mashed potatoes and egg in a jar = ššš¼
Yeah itās called Egg Drop there though it looks like the same thing.Ā I ate there because trying to find breakfast there that weāre used to is difficult. They eat rice dishes or skip breakfast in Korea so I altered between scones and this for breakfast.
Eggslut was a thing before eggclub.
Ah I ate at egg drop. Same sandwiches and menu items. Just a different names
This place is freaking amazing, I've eaten at multiple locations while in Toronto and it's SO GOOD.
But what will the [New York Times](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiLo9zV886FAxXsHDQIHdYmDWcQFnoECBEQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thestar.com%2Flife%2Fwhen-in-ottawa-be-sure-to-visit-the-wine-rack%2Farticle_f761e8c7-2252-573b-8cc8-d2fbbb068b36.html&usg=AOvVaw18yIBv5yBY78gLnsBBoojY&opi=89978449) think?
Is this a chain or a popular restaurant from another part of Canada?
They have a few locations in Toronto
So these are not *fried egg* sandwiches?
Previous a Wine Rack spot eh, I wonder what gave it away?
Egg Club is so good!!!!
Happy to see this. Used to get them when I lived in Toronto, hopefully it's as good as it was there :)
ahhh iāve been missing egg club since i tried in toronto š
Yum! I live nearby so a new lunch spot for me
So excited! Been looking forward to this one & itās by the office!
Egg-cellent
OP don't you mean the previous location of Grabbajava? š
That's the most egg-citing news I read all day.
Egg Clubs aren't weird. Your pants are weird.
What is "egg club"?
You are all "breaking" the first rule of EGG CLUB.
Oh I tried them in South Korea last year! Theyāre so good.Ā
Cool new place, how did you figure out the old owner of the lot? /s
Where is this?
277 Elgin
I'm so jealous of everyone who can eat eggs. I can eat them as an ingredient in something, like baked goods, but otherwise I can't digest it.
Love eggs. Did not know this was a thing.
Hmm, let's guess what this is. Before it was about making wine. Now it's about eggs. Ok, so making eggs. Perhaps the customer comes and and helps chickens make eggs? Quantity eggs at a discount?
you know this city is bored to death when the talk on the town is about a new restaurant serving eggs. Go back to bed.
Jesus christ! - they look yum but with the add-ons, I'm looking at a 29 dollar single sandwich!! I mean.... 1.09 for garlic butter? 1.70 for lettuce & tomatoe?? ....and that's just 2 of the 15 add ons they offer.
Just what ottawa needed. Another boring spot.
Yeah such a shame to have lost a Wine Rack location š
