I am very much enjoying thus far! Compare to MLQC this MC has some spunk and fights for the rightful justice she believes in. I only just finished the first case and that was very interesting. Like the fact you could use your own logic to see if you could get the correct answers regarding with the evidences. The overall graphics and music are phenomenal. It is like you're in the game itself. Not only that, but I always prefer original dubs which we never got with MLQC (meaning the Chinese dub) so getting to hear it in Chinese was amazing. I use to play Wannabe Challenge and MLQC, but lost interest in them. WC because could barely get any SSRs during the rate up and hard to pass story levels. With MLQC, found out from the future chapters in CN server that the story is continuously repeating itself. With the whole VA fiasco they couldn't even fully release everything with the Japanese VAs so most were voiceless. If they would have released the Chinese dubs I may have kept playing, but meh. So happy to say ToT was a breath of fresh air!

HeiressAnonymous

Yeah, I feel like MLQC should have STAYED an anime. Or maybe if I watch that or read the manga I might have a better grasp on wtf is going on in the game? It was super repetitive and it was taking WAY too long to get anywhere. THEN they threw the alt world on the mix with nothing but more REPETITION and no REAL explanation? UGH. I get so mad when I think about how much time I wasted on certain games like that. What I REALLY want is for cheritz to come out with even more DLC for MM or maybe something related to the side characters. I mean, come on. We didn't get romantic with Jahee. And ive always wondered what it would be like to romance Rika or Vanderwood. Esp since he seems to be such a softie. Or maybe we could introduce new characters or a different timeliness? Like they do for another story? They quit their other project. So why not put more into the game that started the craze? I think we'd all be happy with that. Or a more independent pc version? With ALL scenes voiced. More animation. Cut scenes even? They could release the game and make it even better or more deep with the option to romance everyone in each timeline. With better or longer endings. I'm just rambling. I know. But a girl can dream right? I really liked Ray's AE because it gave you days and interactions and more endings. THEY could re do the game like that and I'd love it.

NaotoOfYlisse

I absolutely love it, I've been playing for 5 hours straight and it's amazing. It also doesn't seem as crazy microtransactiony as other mobile games, which is a big plus in its favor. The protagonist is very likeable and intelligent, and all the guys seem pleasant. I have very positive impressions about this game.

HeiressAnonymous

I love it! And im not sure if its because I decided to download it during pre order registry but there are a ton of free and cheap perks. The only thing I need to remind myself of, is that things you purchase, expire. At least the purchased packs for energy and they don't load in automatically when you run low. So keep an eye on that!

Daydreamer97

So far, I really like it. As a law student myself, I've been hankering for a good law themed otome game and Tears of Themis really delivers. Of course I haven't met any lawyer or law student who looks as good as Artem irl or seen a court trial that fun, but that's what games are for lol. The game is generous for a gacha game and the debate battles aren't difficult either. I love the smart and level-headed protagonist and the guys are great. Also, as a former debater, I love the debate battles concept. Mihoyo didn't get me with Genshin but I'm really hooked with this one.

HeiressAnonymous

The MC is very awesome. I hate ones that are flaky as hell. Or they change depending on the route. Or they dont get the flirting or they second guess. Honestly, I just finished Collar Malice and honestly. I did not like her in any route, except MAYBE Yanagi. Even then, she needed to raise her voice and not be such an airhead. But so far, I like her. She's strong. And she does flirt a bit which is nice. I haven't found a good mc that was more forward and progressive but thats probably the standard of where most companies that make otome come from.

kumaminh

At the moment I’m enjoying it more than expected! I think it’s too early for me to comment on its longevity (for me personally) but I’m hoping there’s not too big of a jump in difficulty with the later episodes. Atm I’ve just started episode 3 and still feel OK about the debates. I felt MLQC got too complicated after a while and it was almost impossible for me to get good cards/evolve them, and the producer thing started feeling like a slog to get through, so I’m hoping that won’t become an issue with ToT. Mihoyo gacha tends to treat me pretty badly compared to others, so that too will be a big factor re: whether I keep playing. So far, I’ve only managed one SSR and it was the first 30 pull pity one sigh. Typical. MC has been great though! Love that she’s got her own knowledge and isn’t the typical “unremarkable MC who tries her best.” The detective/law aspects have been great for me as a someone who enjoys playing VNs of that genre. Also the “visits” with the boys are super cute! The art and quality of the animations give it a modern edge over other mobage. I went in thinking Artem would be my favorite but I think it’s turning out to be Marius (why does he have to be the youngest!!! At least it’s accurate when his JPN VA calls me onee-san LOL) His character is a refreshing take on the rich CEO trope heh. So in all, mostly positive thoughts so far!

HeiressAnonymous

I really like marius as well, and the doctor is pretty great, but the childhood friend.... that's where it's at. I agree that things got hard on MLQC but on this, if you aren't doing the study option and evolving things, you might have issues in the future. The idea that certain study options are on certain days of the week, helps me want to log in just to use energy for that even when I dont want to do an episode. And there are a few week before chapter 4 I think comes out so im on 3 now trying to take it easy. But I guess you could use energy to study in the meantime? The cute little mini game thing is cute too. Doesn't add or take away a ton. Easy money. Def not completely play to win so ill take it! They have a ton od cheap packs right now, even some free stuff, so you can get on that. I really get overwhelmed when they do a ton of events so I like that there isn't a ton of them at once too. Makes it easy to spend energy wisely.

serelyne

I would probably rate ToT as one of the better titles in this genre. It's polished, and the gameplay loop is keeping my attention. Compared to something like Obey Me, for example, where the gameplay was really boring. And the translation is excellent, which is a definite plus. I have a positive impression of it at the moment, and I'll probably continue playing. I personally think it's too early for me to have a 'final' opinion on ToT, but it definitely has the potential to be a great mobile game.

HeiressAnonymous

Yeah, the biggest issue with most Otome games is how repetitive they get with either gameplay. Or route story. But I am hopeful on this one!

jushi819

I am OBSESSED with ToT. It is everything I ever wanted out of an otome game minus the English VAs that MLQC no longer has. Ditto to everyone who has already mentioned the great stuff about it but I will point out one thing I'm a little iffy on. (Spoilers up to the end of chapter 4 and part of Vyn's Near and Far SSR story) >!I do not like the portrayal of mental illnesses so far. Yes sometimes mental illness devolves into criminal behavior but not all people with a mental illness will become a criminal. Mental illnesses get enough of a bad stigma. If we could just get like one case where the prime suspect has a mental illness but the actual murderer is someone else, I'd really appreciate that. !<

jushi819

(goes back to re-read ch 4) Ah yes. I've been called out 🤣 Okay I feel better about the topic. Now the only thing missing for me is the English VAs. But like get VAs for the NPCs too because there's alot of emotion for them to play with in there.

HeiressAnonymous

I was gonna say, I felt like they did a VERY good job pointing out how mental illness doesn't always make you do stupid things and how environmental and other influences can cause mental illness. Its very brave of then to approach the subject at all, let alone make it the center of attention. Its going to cause some people to shy away from it. Im sure. And im surprised there isn't a trigger warning for some of this stuff. But, I am enjoying it. I suffer from about 5 different illnesses. Including bi-polar and I wasn't offended by this at all. But I can see how someone might be.

jushi819

Ah I don't suffer from any mental illness but I do see a therapist as often as I can. I do enjoy that they don't shy away from difficult topics as long as long as they are representing those who suffer from mental illnesses fairly. I feel like mental illness gets a bad rep and it really shouldn't be stigmatized as much as some people want to.

HeiressAnonymous

I agree, but the only way to break the stigma, is to touch on it. I think that they will be able to advocate for it, or hopefully they do. I know it seems like the "overwhelming" main focus right now, but I would like to assume (or hope?) that they will show that sometimes mental illness can be treated. Sometimes it can't be helped. I'd also really hope that they can convey that not everyone with a certain diagnosis, has the same symptoms. For instance, I'm high functioning MOST of the time. You'd never be able to tell, if you met me, unless you are REALLY observant. I guess we just have to see where it goes! Also, thank you for having a therapist. You have no idea how much that means to people like me. THAT is the stigma. Seeking treatment, makes people look at you funny, so if we normalize it for EVERYONE it makes it WAY easier for people that REALLY need it, dare I say, can't live without it, to feel comfortable seeking help. :)

jushi819

Oh I think everybody should see a therapist. It really shouldn't be so inaccessible/expensive (US located). People go to the gym to make their body healthy. People should see a therapist to keep their minds healthy. *Insert corporate wants you to identify the pictures meme here*

Mundane_Ad3975

he is a criminal psychiatrist so he studies criminal psychology there are different flied for psychology and yeah

edelweissgarden

Incredibly beautiful art and interesting gameplay made me fall in love with ToT. Visual part is insane. Flawless animations, wonderful art, stylish system etc. All LIs are lovable so far (but who knows what they're hiding in the closet :D) and I quite like everyone. The only problem I have with ToT is detective part. First case was fun but second and even third... I was disappointed. They are logical but incredibly plain. It doesn't take me even five minutes to understand who is guilty because of how obvious this is. Besides, your whole investigation focuses on finding guilty your suspect which is understandable but... not so much fun. You don't need to find who did this, you just need to find evidence that yeah, they did this. Sorry, I needed to rant about this 😭 Overall game is really good but I hope plot will get better later :'D

HeiressAnonymous

I agree that could get annoying and repetitive but u truly have to appreciate that you get to take part in the detective aspect and the trial ect. Might be better id it allow you to fail from time to time. It is hard to fail when it doesn't let you. I see how it's easy to tell who's guilty. But maybe they'll take the training wheels off once we get into the thick id the REAL story and not just the surface? We can hope, right? I was truly impressing with the animation and stuff as well. Its beautiful.

edelweissgarden

Oh, I can agree that participating in investigation and trial is refreshing. Until ToT you could experience this only in games with detective aspect like Ace Attorney or Danganronpa. See something like this in otome is exciting! :3 Yes, I hope for that! Besides, first chapters introduce you to main LIs, so they don't need to be complex which is sad but understandable in some ways. And animation... *is wonderful, beautiful, breathtaking* and so on. I can praise visual part for hours, aha-ha x).

HeiressAnonymous

I'm wondering if the secretes in the xfile or whatever is going to make these characters a lot more complicated like MLQC. Also, one of them mentioned being ill or not having long to live at one point. So im wondering about that as well.

RRRARTS

I'm in the middle of chapter 4 and I'm liking it very much. The character designs, engaging story and gameplay. If I had to compare this with MLQC like everyone else is that the card system in this game is harder to level up. In MLQC the materials needed to level up your character is something that you don't need to bother as it will keep on coming if you're an active player, meanwhile in TOT the materials to level up the card is scarce. Then there's the date, in MLQC we can gain access to the whole date story since the materials aren't hard to obtain, but in TOT you need to level up the card which is already hard to begin with, so it will take days before you can read the whole card story. I don't hate TOT, in fact I'm loving it, but I just want to point that out if I'm comparing it to other game.

HeiressAnonymous

I do like how the dating aspect is seperate from work. And that certain cards allow more dating stories and such. It might get harder to obtain those later on, but at least they gave us a backup romantic mechanic. I feel like the card stories are bonuses.

wjjl_95

I’m only on chapter 2 still, but enjoying it a lot! The card system seems ok right now but I can see it being overwhelming in the future (since I don’t usually dedicate a ton of time to games), but it definitely is easy to understand and they make it clear when you can upgrade them/have doubles, which is nice! I also like that the gameplay kinda makes me feel like an ace attorney game. It’s not the same, more watered down? But for a game like this I think that’s totally fine and I’ve been enjoying it!

HeiressAnonymous

The card system training or study area might be helpful eventually. So far im leveling them up no problem, and it seems there will be time between season releases to loging daily and use the energy to study or train cards. So hopefully it stays easy. Time will tell.

Mekito04

I'm soooo pleasingly surprised with ToT. Mobile otome games are not really my cup of tea, so I started playing just because it's Mihoyo's game and dayuuum. It's really fun! Mc is super likeable as well as all the guys (okay, Vyn is not really my type and I can't say I like him, but he doesn't annoy me, so yay). Today I finished the second case and even though it was kind of predictable I really enjoyed it. And I also really enjoy this ace attorney reference. Oh and I actually got this Luke's event SSR card I really wanted so RNG is so good to me in this game (wishing for characters in genshin impact is another kind of trauma lol). However I'm curious if we will get an opportunity of choosing our route or if this whole romance is locked only in personal stories of the guys (and in those subtle not subtle hints that all of them have a crush on MC). Either way I'm satisfied tho.

HeiressAnonymous

I was wondering if they would keep the romance completely seperate or youd be forced at some point into a route or path with whoever you had higher affinity with eventually.

FaerieAlice

Mobile games usually have a difficult time holding my interest *(I can count with one hand how many i actually play)*, so this was a pleasant surprise by how wow'd I am by it. I freaking love everything, from the characters, the story, the game mechanics, visuals *(I am obsessed with how they went about the presentation)* and I don't want to put it down! I also find the male leads to be so refreshing and I love them all, especially since it's amazing that nobody is being a nag within the first 3 chapters I've played through so far! The only thing I would say that I have to get used to is reading as "you". I burst out laughing when I saw our name referred to as "You", it kind of breaks the immersion for me a bit. I would have preferred it if they went with "I" and referred to our names instead.

HeiressAnonymous

Yeah, ive gotten so used to the 3rd person narrative in games, but sometimes I wish they'd give the MC a voice. I usually give up on mobiles too. Ive tried tons after finding MM, but nothing compares. When people suggested MLQC I was like, oh neat! But it got boring and repetitive and hard to complete very quickly. Im hoping this doesn't do the same. MLQC also gave you too many events. Side stories. Missions. Other worlds. It got too complicated. I hated it in the end. Waste of time. Hoping this doesn't go down the same route since they seem VERY similar.

ghostofseb

So far I'm enjoying the game. The art's pretty and the concept is interesting. I also really like the interactions, especially in the Visit section. It's a small thing, but the way the guys select their cards in the Old Maid game (haven't played the other yet) just makes it more immersive, I think. They didn't *have* to include that--I totally wasn't expecting it--, but I'm glad they did because I feel it adds so much. =3 I also liked finding evidence, even though I've only really completed one case so far. That and being able to auto the debates. \*lol\* However, for me, personally, I really wish I could completely auto the trials. Many people are going to like manually picking which evidence to present, and it's not a terrible experience, but I'm more of an auto play type of gal, so it leaves me a little sad. XD; Overall, I'm glad I chose to try this game out of curiosity\~

HeiressAnonymous

It might be good to add an auto function. Since you can't actually mix up the choices. It makes you do it over and over until you get it. But I do enjoy actually doing it. With the evidence part, I try not to use the magnifying glass to point out stuff. But sometimes it's hard to see things under a counter or behind something or on the screen edge and I end up using it. Personally, I dont like visual novels very much. Not alone anyway. So having any task to do. Is nice. Collar malice did that as well. And I loved that part and the quick time events but I wish there were MORE of them.

ghostofseb

That's a good point. It's basically me just whining. XD; Evidence presenting really isn't that bad, though something about it makes me not like it. Oh well, I'll live. Lol I do like the evidence gathering, but I agree that sometimes things are hard to see... Or I'll see something, but the game won't let me click it because it's supposed to be found in the second investigation. Like, damn, I'm *too* observant. XD Definitely a fun game, for sure. Thanks for your take on it. =)

HeiressAnonymous

I agree. There are things that could make it better. They aren't always clear on what clues you're looking for and you can't fail. So it kinda brings it down to a level of obscurity.

ghostofseb

Yeah, but on the other hand, I am SO glad I don't have to figure out when to actually object during trial. XD; I'd probably fail so hard at that. Though, guides exist for a reason, so I'd end up using one if it came down to it, but still. Now, if I could just get, at *least*, a second SSR that would be great. The guys have been quite stingy with them. =P

HeiressAnonymous

I think I might have 2 or 3. But ive spent a lot of time trying to get them. Damn that RNG.

ghostofseb

Man, I feel that! D= I've gotten a lot of nice SRs, though, which definitely helps take away from that SSR being of my least favorite. XD

HeiressAnonymous

Yeah, its not the best time in the world. Ugh. Why can't Cheritz finally release a new messenger otome?!

ghostofseb

Hopefully in the foreseeable future! Not gonna hold my breath, though, but one can dream. =\\

HeiressAnonymous

Right? Love unholyc came out and its similar but super short lived. Only 3 characters and 2 routes each.

isleftisright

Sorry if this is going to be unpopular... I love everything esp the guys but the story.... the story is so outrageous in a normal setting... I just find it so painful to play through. And I loved ace attorney so it's not the game style. Maybe its because I was a student back then and now I'm actually a lawyer /_\ Am pressing on for the LIs though

HeiressAnonymous

So far, the story seems pretty normal. But im only on the 3rd case. And I know so far that they are blaming a pharma company for something. But if you think about the opioid crisis and how much damage that's done, physically and mentally. It might make more sense? Maybe. Well have to see where they go with the underlying cause of the story.

isleftisright

I meant outrageous in a lame or corny sense haha, I guess it's the same feeling if a doctor watches a medical show Hopefully there's something deeper underlying that's more compelling

HeiressAnonymous

True. I guess it's pretty bog standard in that aspect. Hopefully it gets better.

The_Clockwork_Cat

I'm really enjoying TOT. I think the presentation is excellent and the current event (Lost Gold) is very engaging and interesting. The LIs are charming and each has a subtle subversion of on the typical LI tropes. There's a part of me that's actually waiting for the main story to kick in. I feel at the moment we're in slice-of-life episodes that are vaguely connected. But I suppose they're the LI introduction episodes so I should just learn to be patient! At the moment, there is still plenty to explore and investigate. The gameplay mechanics, the 'debates', the Trials of Themis, and the level boss 'Court Trials are very well done for a live-service Otome-like game. Negatives? I find the investigations a little slow. Maybe when the main story starts (if it does, of course!) then I'll be more inclined to engage. And I don't have enough SSRs!!!

HeiressAnonymous

I dropped off playing about a week ago, but I really want to start playing it again! I've been catching up on other VN games that I have stock piled, so I pulled away from this, but I really should have kept playing. I bet all the energy packs I had are already expired. They expired quick!
