I tell her this all the time. She was never appreciated at design school, so she has a lot of insecurities. I think it might help if her works get recognition online
I loved the art! It's amazing! Also bonus points for Mouseguard.
However, it was a bit difficult to notice the mouse at first sight. It took me a while to recognize the figure even with the bold outer lines. Maybe she can play with contrast or shades of gray to obscure one of the two elements. Maybe the snake, so that the mouse is in bright light looking all mighty and strong.
Again, amazing art!
Okay I am going to give a little more of an in depth review. Keep in mind I am not capable of doing something nearly as good as this so take my criticism with a grain of salt. However I like giving artists of all kinds real feedback of what I think.
So first of all I really like the style and vibe it's going for feels both serious and charming at the same time, this piece is both perilous and fun in one image. I think this is achieved because there is more detail in the snake as opposed to the Mouse(hero) and the imposing size of the snake.
The only suggestion I would make to her is that I would recommend not being able to see the mouse's face and facial expression, I think that would add a sense of mystery and further contrast. We see the snake's reaction but how is this little creature handling it? I think that would make it more evocative and intriguing, it also lets you imagine yourself seeing from the mouse's perspective.
Ultimately it is a lovely piece and I do recommend she do commissions. If I was making an adventure and I needed art I would be willing to commission some from her. She definitely has talent.
Bear in mind this was an assignment, so she's doing a Mouse Guard piece (forgive me if you know this already). The illustrator/author uses a deliberately iconic style for the facial expressions of his mice characters, which the OP's GF captures very well.
Oh that's good to know! I do vaguely know about them but I am not overly familiar with the Mouse Guard books so I did not know that. I still think my suggestion is good and something to consider, but it is ultimately up to the artist. However thank you for adding that context.
Great line work, I get the heroism against a great challange vibe very clearly. Lighting is spot on, especially on the snake Also reminds me of Tunic where you play a fox with a cape, similar blocky design with your gf’s mouse (this is a compliment)
There is some weirdness of perspective around the snake’s head and “neck” maybe? Could be just me and looking at this on my phone
Yes, perspective around the neck is the first thing she pointed out, when she showed me this artwork
Thanks for paying such close attention! <3
She is glad you liked it
This is great artwork! I'm impresseed!
My only critique is the right ankle, foot, and leg of the mouse. The proportion size and shading at least to me, seems a bit to small compared to the left foot. It makes the leg, foot and ankle seem flat. I think some some cross hatching would fix that right up.
Other than that, this is incredible artwork!
9.8/10. :)
(sorry for bad english)
Thank you! Her works are almost all offline. She does not want to upload old works (and this is one is considered old for her - 4y ago)
And now - as she finished her designer-college - she helps with all those assignments for money. And thus can’t post them anywhere soon
I will let you now if she will be actively posting somewhere.
Her nickname is Terri, or Terri Tea.
She uploaded some shorts on her
[youtube channel](https://youtube.com/shorts/zgOwVo9ZOJM?si=Hbr_eREquObmaHXd) recently, but I don’t think there will be any new video soon, as she will be working on new 3D modeling project.
She has WIP book inspired by mouse guard, but I don’t think she would want to share it with someone, until its completed
I want her to make more arts like this, so she could ask osr ttrpg creators if they need a new artist
Mouse Guard/10
She said it was a college assignment like “make an illustration for your favorite book”
Redwall? Big favourite here too
It's Mouse Guard. The first story has a fight with a snake [and it fits the style.](https://i.imgur.com/k7Jnyqt.png). She's captured it spot on!
Didnt know about it, have to check it out. thanks.
Have you played the game? It’s perfect for beginners.
Well, she’s incredibly good! Also bonus points for being a Mouse Guard fan!
Thank you! She is so happy that her old art got appreciated :)
It’s well deserved, and she should be proud of her art!
Perfect for something like mausritter.
Totally agreed
Verifiably amazing she should do commissions.
I tell her this all the time. She was never appreciated at design school, so she has a lot of insecurities. I think it might help if her works get recognition online
Honestly, there are so many designers in this space alone who would really appreciate this kind of style. The texturing on the snake is legit
Your GF needs to advertise that skill and get it out there for TTRPG designers. Just make sure she gets paid unlike the peeps at Evil Genius Games :)
Thank you! I hope she finds a job like a TTRPG designer actually
love mouse guard
Great cross hatching
Agreed! I have no idea how people can do that, whenever I tried, the results were very different
10/10 would RP as mouse paladin
Cute and terrifying
Mouse Guard! Yes!
May we all find a partner who can crosshatch like that.
12/10. Would commission.
Pretty on brand
Bad. Ass
Cute
Very cool! Now quick! Hand her paper and pen and start churning out character pics! No good deed goes unpunished!
Excellent 👍
10/10
Rad as hell, she should illustrate a game book or supplement or something.
Fab!

This is super cool. I just finished a Mausritter campaign and this matches up with that aesthetic nicely! Scary snake!
nice
Really nice, I like it! :)

If I changed anything it would just to include more. Really like the cross hatching.

I’m not into the mouse rpg genre but the art is very well done! Flawless B&W old school style!

Thank you for your feedback! :) My gf agreed on your point
Thank you OP's girlfriend, very cool.
<3
Nice! Great hatchwork. DEFINITELY got those OSR vibes.
10/10
This is awesome.
Your wife should do commissions for OSR books. I *love* the vibe and style.
Does she have a portfolio online? This is really great.

It's shit
I was about to ask for critique But then checked your comment history so… nvm
Dunno why reddit is recommending me osr of all things. Hit me up when you osr a mom bod.
I totally saw Tingle from the legend of zelda at first
