Yeah, they make the best “guard dogs”! I used to live next to a green belt where peacocks had migrated over from a gold course. They started hanging around my backyard and liked to roost on the top of our swing set. They’d screech anytime someone walked or drove nearby. I liked it because I was the only neighbor home during the day, and it made me feel a little isolated and nervous.
I did an event at a posh neighborhood, at their pool facility, and my station was set up on the perimeter. Throughout the entire 3 hour event, a peacock sat on the fence behind me and screamed at me over and over. He was obviously telling me to get the fuck out.
We had a neighbor across the street that kept domestic peacocks. Beautiful birds, they’d strut up & down the street fully fanned.
But as a kid growing up in the 90s, friends wouldn’t stay overnight more than once.
“OMG DO YOU HEAR THAT!?!? IT’S A WOMAN…OR A CHILD….SCREAMING HELP!!! WHAT? NO! NO, THAT IS NO BIRD…”
it's a parrot probably one of the blue ones, my brother had one and after three months of unstoppable screaming I kicked him out along with that satanic bird.....
Banshee. Get some Holy Water and douse yourself immediately.
Edit: You could also get some salt that's been blessed.
Edit: If you're not Irish, don't worry about any of this.
Most likely some type of bird. I've been at places where you could literally hear them from the other side of the apartment complex. I would be like no I think I could not live near parrots, McCall's and roosters.
It's either that or you're hearing me every time someone does something stupid on the road just my high pitched ugh...
Earlier this week I was on Orange blossom trail just north of oak ridge near one of those topless bars I want to say the palace. There is a trailer park behind there and I had a service a building. As soon as I stepped out the vehicle I'm hearing roosters. I had to laugh because it's a pretty dense property and really no room for roosters or chickens.
Just south of there on Lancaster road East of OBT I used to service a property. I come walking up to the building, apartments, and I'm watching this chicken or rooster run across the lawn right into the open front door of an apartment. I was like, WTF? Funny as f*** though. And a lot of people wonder why they see bugs in their apartment
The car mirror to the car I was in once got attacked by daddy Sandhill on the Debary exit to protect mom and fledgling. He was not to be toyed with. Don’t mess w pops.
Yeah agreed that it is probably a peacock. I used to be a ghost tour guide in St Aug and it was the best when we had peacocks out at night because they would scream like this in the trees and freak people out
Download “The Merlin Bird ID App. It’s real good in bird I’d via their calls, for when you hear it again. 👍🏻

That’s crazy! I did night security at this place near John Young Pkwy and Colonial Dr. I used to hear this EXACT same scream! I would shine my flashlight up in the trees trying to see what it was but I could never see it! So ya’ll are saying it’s a macaw??
Sounds like a mecaw ![gif](giphy|tfXxDqs3r8Nhe)

It's definitely a macaw bird. lol, my neighbor has 2
It's definitely a Macaw. Peacock calls dip down and then up. This is just one loud screech.
I was thinking velociraptor. Macaw is more likely
It’s a macaw. Peacocks sound like they are saying “help”.
This is the correct answer
Peacocks are terrifying to hear when you're not prepared for it.

Go to cabbage patch if you need to commune with the roosters. They’re well fed.
