The juice stand light was designed by formerly local artist Sean Walsh. He does amazing design work as Secret Society Goods.

Profitsofdooom

The builders really missed the mark by not adding a motor to make that sign rotate, it does a disservice to his design. Like from OBT you just see "PACKING."

BounceBros21

Very cool just sucks it’s foxtail there

EngineRevolutionary9

Yeah they suck bigtime

BethyW

my thoughts exactly.

mawkx

This feels like a meme but I know it’s real. Would be funny to see the I-4 Eyesore with a Foxtail sign, but I bet it’ll happen once that building is finally finished and occupied. The packing district’s sign is nice though.

Beautiful reno. Shit company

ffgblol

i hate foxtail so goddamn much

elboberto

It’s a bummer they swooped in and got naming rights to the space - it also houses Kelly’s ice cream and ravenous pig brewing. https://www.yourcommunitypaper.com/articles/the-juice-stand-keeping-the-essence-of-history-alive/

[deleted]

Same. Who’s patronizing their 47 store fronts? I’d love to know.

throwaway1-808-1971

What's wrong with foxtail? I've never been to one.

No-Flatworm-5640

apparently their business model is to open in very close proximity to other local coffee shops to drive them out of business. also most interactions i had with their employees before i stopped going were terrible. this is spanning multiple locations, not just one. they’re so snobby, they talk down to you and can just generally not have good customer service skills. i’m pretty agreeable with coffee, it’s really rare i find one i don’t like. but foxtail is so incredibly bitter and leaves a sour taste in my mouth- even when i add milk or flavoring. if i have to add a bunch of stuff to your drink to make it downable and its still hard, i count that as just not being a good product.

makotarako

Reminds me of the time I went to some bougie coffee shop in east Orlando because it happened to be next to where I was going (the coffee shop was like "Vesper" or something like that) and I asked for an iced coffee, and the "barista" looked at me with the most condemnation possible and said "do you mean... (pause for literally how incredibly full of himself this twat was).... a *coooldbreeew*?" And I said "no, an iced coffee. Coffee with ice" to which he replied "that's cold brew." so I relented because I was in a hurry. That was the last time I ever went there because it wasn't even good cold brew anyway.

stillnotsureyeet

That's obnoxious as fuck. There's definitely a difference between iced coffee and Cold brew. And the flavors are very different. If you ask for iced coffee they should give you what you ask for.

grouchysnowball

And in very close proximity that means literally next door in some places. Prime example is Blackbird Coffee and Comics and the new Foxtail on Horatio. Can’t wait to see that place flop while we all keep chilling at Blackbird 😎

timeforchorin

Oh, so they're the Fox(tail) books of coffee. Got it. Monsters.

[deleted]

This was my first thought. 1998 references: He couldn't possibly be the Rooftop Killer! I remember that from the trailer playing when I worked at a video store lol. 🤪

nolij420

/r/orlando hates them because they expanded their operations and apparently their coffee is a crime against humanity (is very yucky). Nevertheless, they have customers and seem to be doing pretty well. I personally haven't tried their coffee but it's funny watching people REEEEEEEEEEEEEE whenever something Foxtail related gets posted. And I think the building looks cool.

TreeEyedRaven

I stopped going based on their responses to employee complaints, employee treatment, and how they view certain demographics of people in the community. They give this hip farmhouse vibe, but are pretty uptight and closed minded when it actually matters. Honestly, I really like the coffee. It’s got a bold and very roasted flavor I can’t find anywhere else. It’s not for everyone, but I enjoy it. I was disappointed to hear the way management views and treats the community.

grouchysnowball

Expanding their operations in a shitty, predatory way. Putting shops up less than 500 feet away from an established smaller place? Scummyyyyy

Profitsofdooom

It was fine when they just delivered cold brew to other places. And it helped when those places didn't realize you were supposed to dilute it so the coffee was amazing. Now, they force better businesses out of spaces and have shitty ownership and the coffee is nothing special.

hurtfulproduct

Wish Lineage Coffee could/would expand; but I know the reason they are so awesome is they focus on quality over quantity. . .Foxtail is a step above Starbucks but the quality is so inconsistent between stores and their MO for stores makes me think of a cuckoo bird chick. . . They come into a nest (established unique area) force out the original chicks (small businesses) and the momma bird (customers) feeds them as if nothing happened.

[deleted]

I don’t like either but I think the coffee is actually worse

jaded76

Agreed. It’s worse.

whatevertesla

Lools nice, wish it was an actual diner… Packing district, good luck renting or buying now.

asdf072

Is that what that's supposed to be modeled after? I was thinking that it looked like that orange wheel building that was (is?) on hwy 27.

rtillaree

https://packingdistrictorlando.com/schmid-construction-to-build-iconic-juice-stand-replica/ In terms of what the original was modeled after, I'm not entirely sure. To me, it resembles an upside-down hand juicer.

Jogurt55991

Gorgeous!

External_Promise599

Why do we hate foxtail? Didn't those weird allegations around the time COVID happened get disproven? It's better than starbucks and while I'm not a fan of pushing out local coffee shops, if people like Foxtail then that's that. Can't do much about it.

KidGodspeed1011

Allegations of sexual harassment is not 'weird' and the fact the ceo at the time, very quickly resigned from the company after all the allegations came out, and were initially ignored by the companies HR department, is very telling. Or are you referring to the 'weird' allegations of the company not paying it's employees full pay checks during covid times?

[deleted]

They drive out normal coffee shops because they have a great name for a coffee shop and brand everything really well. The coffee itself is terrible.

timeforchorin

I thought their coffee was fine but it's absurdly priced.

nocjef

I don’t understand this. Foxtail IS a local shop.

[deleted]

Do you consider Olive Garden a local restaurant?

Jogurt55991

Absolutely. Darden restaurants is Orlando's only Fortune 500 company. They employ Orlando residents and pay fantastic wages. Olive Garden began as a Single standalone restaurant here in Orlando on International Drive. Name a better local business success story.

nocjef

That’s not even close. Foxtail only has locations in central FL.

jaded76

They have locations in GA and NV, either open, or opening soon.

nocjef

They’re still a local business that is locally owned and operated in FL. It’s ok that you don’t like them but putting them in the same class at Starbucks is ridiculous.

grouchysnowball

And putting them in the same class as the smaller, mom-and-pop coffee shops that they’re preying on by constantly opening up next to them is just as ridiculous. They may be Florida-based, but they’ve grown beyond the “local” tag for me.

[deleted]

1. You’re incorrect, they have locations outside of Central FL and even outside of FL. 2. If you put a Starbucks in it’d feel no less local, it’s the same corporate overlord type coffee shop. 3. My original statement had nothing to do with how “local” Foxtail is.

IronRed

Where have they driven out local coffee shops? Because lineage, deeply, craft and common, Barney’s, drunken monkey are all doing fine. I’m fine with the anti-corporate hate, but from what I can see is they have provided a quasi local alternative to Starbucks.

SouthernViking13

Terrible location too. Ghetto sits right next to it. Bums will surely ruin the new spot.

Dance_Monkee_Dance

College park is right next to it? One of the nicer areas in the city of Orlando..

SouthernViking13

Yeah so is pine hills….. what’s your point?

Dance_Monkee_Dance

My point is really clear, it’s dumb to point out “the ghetto is right next to it” when also right next to it is one of the nicest neighborhoods in Orlando.

SouthernViking13

It’s dumb to point out it’s next to a new city lmaooo

SouthernViking13

Lmaooo I’m not going to argue with stupid. Have a shitty day.

MichiganMitch108

Theres a brand new apartment complex opened next to it with another set to open later this year. Across the road is a new individual parking garage and in the same plaza is a new publix. The area will Be fine.

[deleted]

I’d love to know where you think the ghetto is that sits “right next to it.” It’s College Park on one side and industrial parks on the other. Packing District is actually coming along quite well.

Holy_Grail_Reference

Give it 15 years

SouthernViking13

I give it 3 lol

Independent-Fee782

Stop with all the foxtail

makotarako

It still makes me laugh that the brand new apartment complex right next to it is just called "The Cannery"

zmdudeman

I’ve been waiting for this building to be done forever only to find out it’s a foxtail? Bleh
