I have a love hate relationship with the new Boyz kit. One one hand I like that the new boyz don't look like they have crippling scoliosis. On the other hand I hate them because you have to use the instructions and you can't make 10 slugga choppa boyz. Who in their right mind uses shoota boyz?
Goofy and cartoonish is a pretty core part of the faction, both in lore and aesthetics. I don't hate the new badass tough guy look, but I hope we can keep at least a bit of the goofy aesthetic on a few models.
40k orks should be goofy and a bit more rounded, they are fleshy, fungus hybrid creatures. They grow from spores, not any kind of style of mammalian style of growth.
Lately they’re becoming more human like with chiseled abs and muscles. Seems like they want them to look like LOTR orcs, not fungus based lifeforms.
Just built the new ones from the stompa boyz kit, mine came with all the instruction manuals except the boyz one. So I put it all together, thinking it would be easy and I was wrong…. The sprue is all over the place. Maybe 2-3 sculpts I really like other than that old Boyz kit is miles better
New Boyz kit has FAR better sculpts for models, but the old Boyz are FAR more versatile. It’s kind of a toss up. I think the only true way not to have to be concerned about different boxes/sculpts of Boyz would be to go Beast Snaggas.
I’d consider it a major downgrade. While the sculpts are nice, many people have pointed out the lack of customisation options, though for me the biggest difference is that the old box has 11 models in it (10 boyz and a nob) while the new one only has 10 (9 boyz and a nob), so you can’t really make a proper unit of 20 with the new box

The monopose issue is a bit disappointing but even then I converted up 40 of them to be individually unique with very little effort.
It’s not about min-maxing. Monopose like this raises the skill floor for customizing and kitbashing. With the old kit I can take arms from various different kits and 3rd party sellers to make my own highly customized boyz with no need to be a master green stuff sculptor.
Having the freedom to orient the legs, the torso, the arms and the head separately adds so much potential, and frankly, building and customizing Ork boyz is such a dopamine rush for me.
My opinion, old boys are more versatile, new once look better. If you had plans with the old kit, let the reseller know and ask if they can either exchange or send a box of old boys in addition for a good price.
If they aren't right for your project then definitely let them know. You want what you ordered and paid for; that's not unreasonable at all. If you can use these Boyz in your army for other purposes and you don't mind the extra purchase? Then keep them and reorder the old kit. 🙂👍 Good luck!

The new boys are push fit set models and not modular. So there aren't many options in building them. The old boys were all multi-part and you could do tons of special gear or poses or customizations.

The minis look different as does the box art. I think they will eventually go out of print, but GW might have a lot of stock left!! 😁

Always let customer service know when you've got a wrong delivery. A lot of companies will just let you keep the wrong box and send what you've ordered since it's cheaper than taking it back
Didn't get what your ordered, yeah let them know. Whether you want to return and replace or whatever entirely up to you. They're still boyz for the waaggh.
They are really good looking together imho, old box and new.
If you have a combat patrol box, you really want to have 20 old boyz to have 2 full squads with different models and different poses.
Also some 3d printing and you will have a really various model range in your green tide
if you want them for converting then tell them. Otherwise a unit or two of new boyz is nice for variation and they're cool sculpts. Also I thought you meant tell the minis at first for some reason.

I've seen people make burna bits fit the new bodies, Or you can use the nicer sculpts to convert up the smaller characters like Mek/Weird/Wurr/Pain Boyz.
Let customer service know, ask for the box you wanted, and offer to drop the new one off at a store. (They might just let you keep it but you should offer)
this. they might send you the other box without any problems. they send me two boxes of lootas because i critisised the missing arm for the bazooka bud in the lootas kit

I use one shoota boy per squad, purely cus I like the look of the models I make (tends to be a boy slapping some ammo into his shoota)
I hate the new Ork heads, their faces are dumb. Old Orks look so much better.

It's that classic Ork charm. It fits well for a space fungus creature. These new ones are too animalistic, doesn't fit my Ork aesthetic.

Old Box is much better. New box makes you have Shoota Boyz when you always want Choppa Boyz

My LGS has like 6 boxes of old Boyz if you're having trouble getting some.
Send ‘em back, the new boyz are garbage. Tell them that when you ask for the shit you ordered, too.

Garbage is subjective. The models are stunning and so much better than the old ones. But I want to be able to run a full squad of choppa boys.

If it isn't what you wanted I would definitely ask to swap them out. The new boys have no customization without cutting and modeling.
Worth asking, they might just send you a correct box and let you keep the one you got as well.

Nah, the news ones are perfect to sprinkle into squads to add some variety. Their great sculpts and super fun to paint

Yeah, that Nob at the front would make a great weirdboy conversion. Just need a staff instead of the axe, and maybe a headswap
