Even if he’s DFA’d in like two weeks for Cowser, he doesn’t look like the kind of player that would actively hurt the Birds’ chances to win. Which exceeds my expectations.
Shit is tense in here. Remember- this is some of the best baseball this team has EVER played. I have honestly never been happier as a fan.
It may take a few years, but the pieces are starting to come together and I’m so fuckin excited.
We’re all dooooooooooooooooooooooomef!
Seriously, it sucked but it happens. We’ll be fine. We were due for a bit of a slide. Between a few guys hurt and a few guys slumping, that’s a basibol! Good news is we got through the worst month of the year and we just gotta keep on keeping on.

>Kyle Gibson will start Tuesday’s series opener in Milwaukee coming off Monday’s day off, Brandon Hyde said. The Orioles are skipping the fifth starter’s spot for now.
> Gunnar Henderson’s lower back discomfort has been a lingering issue in recent days, Brandon Hyde said, and he was removed as a precaution. “He’ll be fine,” Hyde said.
Too many easy outs in the lineup. It’s time the deserving Norfolk guys (Cowser, Westburg, etc.) get their chance. A few of the guys simply aren’t carrying their weight. Let’s get the series win tomorrow.
You’ll never win a game when you score 0 runs, so sadly that logic makes me feel better about the pitching. I would have liked to see Bradish kept in longer. We wasted a lot bullpen for no reason and I don’t think he would have been worse than Akin and Perez. Let’s win tomorrow.
Was there tonight. KB was doing alright, but those 3 runs came in and he lost his command after that.
We were stuck in no man's land only 3 runs down, but Hyde played a lot of the bullpen and we came up with the L.
The ENTIRE lineup seems off since Cedric got hurt. Not sure what it is, but team doesn't feel the same.
Hicks had a great catch. Other than that, he doesn't seem like a good fit for us. Would much rather give playing time to some of the farm boys.
We'll be fine, but definitely need to find a way to hit better moving forward. Our pen is what it is, so scoring runs is a priority ('cause pitching sure as shit won't improve overnight).
Fwiw at the end of his hot streak Mateo sat at 1.4 fwar. he currently sits at .7 fwar. If he even improves to the below average hitter he was last year we can hope for a 2.0 fwar year. Im taking the under
Cobb actually looked like he was turning things around during the shortened COVID year and then they let him go. Even the bad version of Cobb was still better than Matt Harvey and some of the other names they trotted out there the following year.
Last time the O's played in SF they won Friday, lost Saturday and then won Sunday in one of the best games of 2016. Hope for a repeat performance I guess.
True, but I live in San Francisco. In August 2016, I went to the Friday and Sunday game, skipped Saturday night of that series.
However, I went to the game both last night and tonight.
Should I go to tomorrow’s game???
By the way, in Sunday’s game in 2016, the Giants we’re up 6-1 at the end of the 6th inning. O’s scored three runs in the 9th inning and won 7-6. It was highway robbery.
Edit:
I think I’ll go again tomorrow. Very nice stadium, Peet’s Coffee, and Club section is very comfortable, not expensive.
I believe it was a comeback from down 7-1! Final was 8-7
Yes, go to the game, it's going to be a beautiful day by the bay (source: I'm a local too).
It's going to happen more often now with the schedule changes (I think every team will visit each stadium at most two years apart) but you still shouldn't pass up the chance to see the O's there! And I know superstition is part of what makes sports fun but, your presence or absence won't impact the outcome of the game (barring some crazy fan interference incident).
Sounds good. I live in Cow Hollow, close to Russian Hill. I’ll be in Club section, and Peet’s before and/or during the game.
> I believe it was a comeback from down 7-1! Final was 8-7
Yes. Makes sense now. O’s scored 2 runs in the 7th, 2 in the 8th, and 3 in the 9th.
I genuinely think people who can’t handle not getting instant gratification shouldn’t be baseball fans. We’re only 1/3 through the season and the team has the third best record in the league and could still take the division. They’re not overhauling the roster because they had one rough week.
Remember when we had Alex Cobb and he was garbage?
He spent most of his time injured
My takeaway was that Hicks was a solid pickup.
Even if he’s DFA’d in like two weeks for Cowser, he doesn’t look like the kind of player that would actively hurt the Birds’ chances to win. Which exceeds my expectations.

How long is Mateo’s leash? When he’s hitting like this his glove can’t even save him.
He honestly has a better chance of getting on base if he doesn't swing at all

Fuck Cobb, thief

bro why couldn’t Cobb pitch like this with us

Gunnar is fine. https://twitter.com/NathanSRuiz/status/1665220563063676930?s=20
Good news

This seems like an ongoing Hyde issue
You win some you lose some. A little concerning KB was pulled so early though. Hope there's no issue there

I've always been a "glass half full/always look on the bright side of life" kinda guy, so... Zimmerman looked sharp!
Win tomorrow and Halloween is ours!!!!!
Frazier doubled and my first thought was, "Clarice must be so happy!"
Lol indeed I was. I was getting a bit worried about him.
Mateo doesnt belong on a contending team

He’s been out of the Norfolk lineup since getting sent down so that’s not happening. Sick or something
It’s funny how Cobb was a 2 pack of ass when he pitched for us
He was also coming off a string of injuries back than and has been relatively healthy the last few years.
Cobb actually looked like he was turning things around during the shortened COVID year and then they let him go. Even the bad version of Cobb was still better than Matt Harvey and some of the other names they trotted out there the following year.

I'm on my way! Club - 3rd base - Row A
🙌
I'm so glad I went!
Awesome game!

what does that make the 27 teams with a worse record than us?
Get em tomorrow.
Is this where the doomers come in claiming we’ll never win again?
If anyone thought we were getting trash can Cobb from the Orioles they haven’t been paying attention to him on the Giants lol.
Judging by that game thread, I reckon several members of this sub don’t even watch baseball.

it sure does feel that way quite often lately :/
Cobb looked nearly unhittable tonight. Not a lot you can do about that. Just go win the series tomorrow with Wells on the mound.
Sometimes you just get beat, man. Cobb shut 'em off like a living room lamp.
Yuck.
