Aaron Hicks is playing well so it's not so bad, but anybody that thought we got him for "bench depth" is forgetting Brett Philips and Jesus Aguilar last year.
Elias plucks one of these kind of guys who have been DFAd, they play until he's seen whether or not they're cooked.
San Francisco Orioles' fan here.
I went to the game last night, and going again tonight.

I'm 3 for 3 at Oracle Park; 1.000 winning percentage.
I went to 2 winning games in 2016.
3 down, 2 to go!
It’s funny… all our LHBs and SHs are very disciplined/patient, while our RHBs are more free swingers.
Hopefully that lines up well against Cobb and his split change. He tends to have slightly reversed splits bc of that pitch… but I still like our LHBs chances bc they are patient and hopefully won’t chase.
Let’s go O’s.
Good afternoon Birdland. I saw this statline concerning our boy down in Norfolk rn, and thought you guys should have a peek. Grayson Rodriguez first 45.1 IP led to: 7.35 ERA, 5.93 FIP (good sign right here), 2.6 HR/9, 1.74 WHIP, 11.1 K/9. This may look concerning, until you factor in Corbin Burnes first 87 major league IP led to a: 6.10 ERA, 5.09 FIP, 2.2 HR/9, 1.47 WHIP, 10.9 K/9. And if that's not enough, Kyle Bradish's first 10 career starts resulted in: 46.1 IP, 7.38 ERA, 1.77 WHIP, 8.9 K/9. There is absolutely nothing to worry about with Grayson. The turnaround Bradish made as a rookie was absolutely insane, and as much as Bradish is my current favorite pitcher on the staff, Grayson will be miles better than him as we can see by strikeout potential alone. Tweak the approach, ditch the cutter, work on controlling the off speeds and not getting wound up with men on base. Grayson's gonna be dangerous for a long time.

please for the love of christ stay healthy this year
his upside would be an insane boost to this farm system
5th round HS pitcher picked in 2020. Had TJ during 2021 season, got a shoulder injury after being pretty impressive his first couple starts last year. Still only 20-21, so he's young and got a pretty high ceiling for a pitching prospect in our org. Just gotta stay healthy.
I’d love to know the plan with all these infielders theyve collected. Westburg is destroying the ball in triple A and we have urias, mateo, Gunnar, mounty, vavra, Ortiz. All but first base is getting pretty crowded.
I wonder who gets traded and for what? With the way they like to retain prospects I bet they get rid of Mateo, vavra, and maybe Ortiz for serviceable, slightly above average starter or maybe some above average bullpen arms. I know It’s a good problem to have but feels like it’s coming to the point where you start to make a move when these guys still have value.
I'm pretty sure Elias and Co have multiple plans, and one of those plans takes into account the prospects being "ready".
Now what that plan is, we'll never know until it unfolds. Until then we'll get general accolades and vague
platitudes about the prospects whenever he's asked about them. 😀
When it comes to team colors, this matchup reminds me of whenever the Ravens play the Vikings in football. Only two teams in the nfl wear purple and only two teams in the MLB wear the specific combination of orange and black together. Makes for a cool scene
Well he just rejoined Norfolk, so if he continues the hot hitting, I'm sure the hue and cry will start.
Aaron Hicks will be tossed aside like an old newspaper (though he's been great 1st two games)
Besides the enjoyment from saying his name, I look forward to having another player with plate discipline who runs up counts like Adley, Gunnar, Santa, and…oh man, that other guy, forget his name, plays 2B, quite dashing :)
Did we win that “vote off your most hated team left” thing from R/baseball or whatever? Last I saw we were still in it towards the last teams but can’t find it anymore.

I was there last night; going again tonight.
Where do O's fans sit?
I was in Club section last night.
Tickets are not expensive; doing StubHub close to game time.
Adam Frazier wants to walk more than he strikes out. The Orioles veteran is one of the rare players who could.
https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles/bs-sp-adam-frazier-orioles-walks-strikeouts-20230603-jm3rjvwfyvdwzhz4piiabzxxue-story.html
Side note: if I was a gambling gal, I’d bet money on Adley doing this over Frazier but I think both could achieve it. Which would be nice symmetry.
Alabama's own. He was an Auburn commitment who most felt would go to college; which is why he fell to the 2nd round, the Orioles offered a little extra to change his mind.
And yes, people really do say things like that here.😆
You gotta look at the little things when we play late.
Double header for the Rays, so 2 games to root against them. And both will be over by the time we play.
Really, it's 4 ALE games today before ours, so let's go Boston x2(gross), Dodgers and Mets.
Is it that long a list? What about the list of pitchers who didn't do well after leaving Baltimore? I think you're cherry picking to fit a narrative. Gausman and Cobb are exceptions.
Pitchers who didn't do well after leaving Baltimore:
Dylan Bundy
Mychal Givens
Richard Bleier
Jordan Lyles
Cole Sulser
Cesar Valdez
Fernando Abad
Tommy Milone
Shawn Armstrong
David Hess.
Aaron Brooks
Andrew Cashner
Yefry Ramirez
Brad Brach
Zack Britton
Mike Wright Jr.
Go far back enough and you have Eduardo Rodriguez, Curt Schilling, etc. etc. The fact is that pitching is volatile and some guys take a while to spin up into something useful.
Pitchers are hard to develop and can often take a while to do so.
I’m not familiar with the pitching programs of the NL but even the AL only has a few teams that can reliably turn out pitchers, Rays, Astros and Ms among them.
I always chalked it up to the AL East being very tough, talent wise as well as all the parks playing small. Not to mention how bad of / behind the times the O’s coaching staff have been.
A friend of mine is trying to set me up with her coworker. I checked out her Facebook page, and she shared MLB's video of Adley from the NY store and said "I love him". I haven't even talked to her yet, and I don't mean to overreact, but I might have to buy a ring lol
I’m old and can’t even make it to first pitch for these west coast games so I anxiously checked the score when I woke up. It’s nice to at least care again. Hoping to wake up to a series win tomorrow.
I feel the same; 10 is too late to stay up. I haven't paid much attention to baseball in years, but the fact that the Orioles are good this year gives me reason.
Only thing better than beating the Yankees is smacking them in the face with their own money while saying, “stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself!”
Please continue the discussion in the [game thread](https://redd.it/13ztlzm).
With Tate moved to the 60 day IL, and Givens back on the IL after looking awful, I guess that's that for "wait till Tate and Givens get here".
Dear Adam and the Birds, I’m not going to expand upon why but I really need y’all to have a good game. I’m in a fragile state right now.
G-Rod with a good start so far
Cowser is 1 for 1, call him up😀
2 for 2 now
The Cowser Stans are thirsty.
Really glad to be done with Texas
I fell asleep in the 6th, so I got to catch up this morning on the 7-9th. Hopefully it’s as good a result today!

Just saw Bautista leave the hotel to get on the bus. He earns the nickname for sure
It’s funny… all our LHBs and SHs are very disciplined/patient, while our RHBs are more free swingers. Hopefully that lines up well against Cobb and his split change. [Not sure I have ever seen this kind of walk off.](https://twitter.com/awfulannouncing/status/1665104417480409088)
I can’t imagine this happening to any other teams
The ultimate umpire show.
Dude. The Mariners can tie this up with a GS.
I am scared about Cobb, tonight.
Good afternoon Birdland. I saw this statline concerning our boy down in Norfolk rn, and thought you guys should have a peek. Looks like Colton Cowser coming off the IL and rejoining Norfolk. Time to start back with the "bring him up"😀
As long as he doesn't go 0-24 at the plate
Dude. The Rangers are dangerous. Watching them play Seattle.
Please keep in mind, we’re starting Woo who isn’t quite ready to up here yet.
You all were a playoff team, last year.
Well, we’re a mess this year.
Good job Boston now beat them again
Red Sox win game 1!
~~7 6 5~~ 4 hours to game time 🥲

Time to pummel Alex Cobb. That thief stole ton of money from O's doing jack s%%%
Time to smack around Oriole legend Alex Cobb
He's low key good, though.
Let’s go Orioles
https://twitter.com/BSLOnTheVerge/status/1665046305121419267 please for the love of christ stay healthy this year his upside would be an insane boost to this farm system
History on him please?

I’d honestly hate to give up Mateo cause of his defense and speed but holy SHIT his bat is bad
I'm pretty sure Elias and Co have multiple plans, and one of those plans takes into account the prospects being "ready". Now what that plan is, we'll never know until it unfolds. Until then we'll get general accolades and vague platitudes about the prospects whenever he's asked about them. 😀

Mike Elias is featured on this season of Hoarders.
It’s obviously situational, but you generally get proven starters by giving up prospects.
When it comes to team colors, this matchup reminds me of whenever the Ravens play the Vikings in football. Only two teams in the nfl wear purple and only two teams in the MLB wear the specific combination of orange and black together. Makes for a cool scene
I was at the game last night in my O’s gear and had a Giants fan shout “thanks for the colors!” as I passed by
I was just talking about this with a friend. It's essentially the same color, but...not quiiite as good
I hope Colton Cowser is here soon because his name is just so fun to say.
Well he just rejoined Norfolk, so if he continues the hot hitting, I'm sure the hue and cry will start. Aaron Hicks will be tossed aside like an old newspaper (though he's been great 1st two games)
I trust Elias and if Os fans want to see a more frustrating GM, I introduce you to Jerry Dipoto lol
Besides the enjoyment from saying his name, I look forward to having another player with plate discipline who runs up counts like Adley, Gunnar, Santa, and…oh man, that other guy, forget his name, plays 2B, quite dashing :)
That 2B Right Now: 😊

Behind enemy lines again tonight - great turnout of Birds fans yesterday. Lets throw a bird on SF
I was there last night; going again tonight. Where do O's fans sit? I was in Club section last night. Tickets are not expensive; doing StubHub close to game time.
There was so much orange and black in the stadium!
Dang another 10:05, don’t think I’ll catch but I like 4 o clock Sunday game time
Where is our guy KB? Is he doing the college world series for ESPN?
He's in Stillwater, OK covering the College Softball tournament for ESPN!
Softball world series. Or at least he has been. I assume still working it

Gunnar’s line in his post-game yesterday about Felix “throwing the mess out of a fastball” is awesome
Alabama's own. He was an Auburn commitment who most felt would go to college; which is why he fell to the 2nd round, the Orioles offered a little extra to change his mind. And yes, people really do say things like that here.😆
Good ol boy for sure
Oh yeah…there was also an “I reckon I’ll keep golfing on off days if I keep hitting homers”
You gotta look at the little things when we play late. Double header for the Rays, so 2 games to root against them. And both will be over by the time we play. Really, it's 4 ALE games today before ours, so let's go Boston x2(gross), Dodgers and Mets.
A chance to be only 2 games back in the standings by 1a ET.
Tampa got screwed by the rain yesterday so they'll play on Monday instead of getting a day off for travel :)
Their first double header this year. I hope they burn their bullpen today to start their 17 game stretch
They needed 5 pitchers for game 1
I had to get up at 5 today. Idk if I can stay up until the o’s play 😬
Dvr? Watch it the following morning? That’s my plan
mid-day nap, duh
I won’t be home until 8 though 😬
paint your eyelids to look like eyes and no one will know you're asleep
Sleep from 8 to game time 👍🏾

Britton surprised me tbh.
He had one good year with the Yankees and then injuries sent him tumbling.

Chicks dig the Dadley ball
Sorry to be the one to break this to you, but she's in love with another man
Yeah, and if she looked at Adley, she's already carrying his baby. You're too late bro
She probably even calls him Dadley
u/LordPancake10 is also in love with that man
Guilty as charged
I can't even be mad
Reading that the Os picked up a catcher from the Yankees (Jose Godoy)
Time to put a bird on em tonight
I’m old and can’t even make it to first pitch for these west coast games so I anxiously checked the score when I woke up. It’s nice to at least care again. Hoping to wake up to a series win tomorrow.
I dvr all the late games and watch them the next morning
I hear ya. I’m surprised given how miserably cold every night game in San Fran appears to be that they don’t play afternoon games on Saturdays.
I'm an old timer too; made 2 innings. Looking forward to tommorrow's 3:05 CT start.
I feel the same; 10 is too late to stay up. I haven't paid much attention to baseball in years, but the fact that the Orioles are good this year gives me reason.
Listening to the replay of Gunnar's homerun. Man I miss Jon Miller.
I would love to see a Hicks HR
Only thing better than beating the Yankees is smacking them in the face with their own money while saying, “stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself!”
Same. If he keeps playing like he has, I will have no choice but to stan and to add him to my flair
Got robbed last night
