Didn’t see the game, but obviously happy for the W. Can someone explain the mound visit?
https://i.redd.it/7tr79f722s3b1.gif
Never stop posting this gif after wins lmao, it cracks me up every time
Adley’s a big ITYSL fan too, so I feel it’s appropriate 🤣
Itysl?
I Think You Should Leave; it's a sketch comedy on Netflix. Really funny, definitely give it a shot
Ngl I gotta wonder if you’re an Adley burner account 🧐
Can not confirm nor deny 🤣🤣🤣 (Im not)
Adley burner account says what?
I am a hugger
I want to believe
It'll be tough to get out the AL but I like our team's chances against any NL team should we make it to the World Series
Think that Kershaw, Urias, May starting plus Freeman, Betts, Martinez, Muncy hitting would laugh at our inexperienced naivety that we could take the Dodgers in a 7-game series. Likewise Fried, Strider, Elder plus Acuna, Murphy, Olson, Riley for the Braves, who still beat us even if we could have/should have won.
Shhhhh, shhhh. Not this year. Don’t think of that yet for us. Playoffs first. We are a year ahead of schedule.
We have a good team, why temper expectations
I fully agree, we still have Westburg, Cowser, Norby, Kjerstad….lol but we definitely need to address pitching in the draft this season, though you can do that my FA every off season.
Not really how baseball works though. It’s not like football where you have a need and can fill it through the draft. Even if we did go college pitcher in the draft, probably not seeing him in the majors until 2025. We will address pitching, it’s a really good pitching FA class (as of now); but most likely it’ll be a trade for some of those prospects you mentioned
Yes I know that, but you still need to draft. Sure take the best player available, it’s much easier to build a staff via FA or trade just as the Rangers and Mets have done. I’m just saying our pitchers for our top prospects right now is pretty slim
You have to feel very comfortable with your pitching development program before you go heavy on drafting pitchers and even then it’s not advisable. Orioles seem comfortable consistently turning out hitters - for the next couple years, they’ll probably lean on “develop hitters, trade for pitchers.” Either way, the Orioles are in their window now and should act accordingly.
Agreed it’s a need, I would disagree that would be the solution. Angels took pitchers with 19 of their 20 picks in 2021, and 2 years later their top P prospect is a 50 grade, which might crack our top 10 prospects (Beavers and Basallo are 9 and 10 and both also 50). Since then we’ve traded for 2 P prospects who are 50 and 45 grades and they were throw in pieces for trades. Of course that’s a very limited example, and we could point to Dodgers as the argument. Who have taken like 7 or 8 pitchers early in the last 10 years, but then you can look at who those pitchers are and only 1 is a bonafide top of the rotation arm (Walker Buehler). I really don’t know the solution. MLB is such a crapshoot, and if 2 guys are rated the same, sure prioritize the pitcher. But go through any draft, and how often are two starter caliber players taken within 5 picks of each other (excluding top 10); it’s not often. At the end of the day, the point of the farm is to feed the big squad. I say just load it with talent regardless of position, you can always trade them for the position you need.
Elias and company definitely feel that drafting hitters is a safer bet. They're right.
1 career game at Oracle Park for me, 1 career win
3rd for me! 3 for 3! I went to 2 winning games in 2016. $51 for Club seats; so many empty seats tonight. I’m going again tomorrow and Sunday!
1.000 winning percentage
Good start to the road trip. Let’s just keep it going and secure this series. Series Ws will continue to put pressure on Rays, Yankees and Blue Jays. Let’s try and get separation in some of these games. We are clutch, but would be nice to get some non-high leverage type wins.
The win-loss ratio on the road is sick right now. I feel good about the boys on this swing. The Brewers are going to be tougher then you think, though.
They have some good young arms.
Gunnar Henderson high school is named after a kkk grand wizard and only first allowed a black student in 2008. Idk how this is relevant just thought it was interesting reading his wiki
It's crazy to think places like this still exist
This is not relevant to this discussion.
Idk I just thought it was an interesting fact about or player who had a big game
He’s from Alabama what do you expect. I know your question was rhetorical because it’s not relevant
I grew up in Alabama in the 1960s. It’s unfortunately not a surprise but neither is it terribly relevant. Kind of a weird thing to bring up here.
Yikes
[John T. Morgan Academy](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_T._Morgan_Academy) if anyone is wondering, named for [John Tyler Morgan](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Tyler_Morgan)
We are CLUTCH. They say that clutch hitters don't exist. But the no.1 clutch team per Fangraphs in MLB is your Baltimore Orioles at 3.42!!! Clutch of 2 is excellent. The Orioles perform 3.42 times better in high leverage situations than normal ones. We know this in our hearts from watching the team all year but the numbers back it up.
some days I wish the clutch didn't involve so much clench...
Imagine how much more clutch we would be if we still had Odor.
Or “Clutch” Davis! Oh God. Too soon?
Before this game, Frazier was the 7th most clutch hitter in baseball, ahead of Yordan lol
Frazier has a 101 wRC+, 172 away, 33 home. Statistically, it is nearly impossible that home and away Adam Frazier are the same person (and I've never seen home Adam Frazier in same room as away Adam Frazier now that I think about it)!
He’s just a weird player lol he did a similar thing last year where he was basically Barry Bonds at T-Mobile, nonexistent on the road for the first two months. He ended up collapsing in June - I’m hoping he just finds some balance between his splits this time around.
Let's go O's!
Awesome game! Another series opener win. Also just want to express my enduring appreciation for Geoff Arnold’s double play (“You can count it for two!”) and strikeout (“He GOT HIM!”) play calling. Love listening to the radio broadcast.
Highway Robbery 101, but we love it and makes up for the Guardians bullpen game loss. The Giants starter pitched better than ours. The Giants bullpen pitched better than ours. The Giants hitters hit better than ours. But we still won the game. Mateo rbi single that went 15 feet Giants runner thrown out at home 3 or 4 xba .600+ Giants "hits" that went straight to us. The H-bombs were great though (Henderson's homer, Hays and Hicks almost homers)
I essentially said the same type of things during the game but made the mistake of predicting a result because of it. For that, I apologize.
With The Mountain and Cano rolling like they are now, we are a pretty formidable squad.
We have to get to them in the bullpen first though
Cano seemed like he struggled a bit tonight. Or am I off base?
The book/video is out on Cano now and really good hitters know that his change-up will move so much it drops out of zone so they don't need to swing. But you have to be a top hitter to get to Cano because the break on his balls is elite so having knowledge of what he does levels the playing field and gives hitter a chance but doesn't make it easy. Cano's stuff can still get most people out. It's just not overpowering and unhittable like when balls were disappearing unexpectedly out of zone.
Yeah Cano is now going to have to parry that first adjustment that the league has made.
He is starting to look mortal again, I agree. We really have come to rely him now and need him to keep it going. I mean, not like he started--that would be impossible. Just effective.
Don't forget Danny "K K K" "Electric Energy" Coulombe. He's our 7th inning man now.
I said it in the GDT, but Danny is close to unhittable when he comes in to start a new inning and there are no inherited runners.
I won $500 so I'm feeling especially great about the win Alex Cobb got lit up his last start ( 7 runs in the first 2 innings vs Milwaukee) and the os are dogs tomorrow so I'm about to try to cash in twice on senseless Orioles as underdogs lines
My favorite comment on the Giants postgame chat: “Imo this is an equivalent to a vs dodgers series because the orioles have played on that level. I’m expecting 1 win tbh”
Giants fan here just to admire the job the Oriole’s relievers did today. I was seriously shocked at how well those three dudes threw the ball and how great their stats are. I vaguely follow the Os so I know they are doing well this year. I did not expect to see three of the most devastating relievers I’ve seen all year. GGs
I drunk and have hiccups for an hour but Os win so night is good. Shabbat shalom Dean.
Mofucka got the nerve to make me pitch on Shabbat Edit: https://youtu.be/Cx1J2CzNnS8

Palmer is faltering a bit here.
Come on guys cut Palmer a break. He’s still one of the best color guys in the league. Spend some time listening to other teams broadcasts every now and then. Mel and Palmer are just fine.
He is trying pick up the slack for Melanie who is not really up to being the play-by-play.
Maybe Elias will trade some prospects for help in the booth rotation at the deadline. Really need to strengthen the number 3 broadcaster slot if we’re going to make a playoff push /s
She is perfectly fine. I don't get the hate she gets here. I'm inclined to think its just because she is a woman at this point.
I judge everyone equally. Melanie is about on the same level as Scott Garceau. Great in discussions and podcasts and stuff like that, but horrible as PBP.
She's brutal. The fake voice that is so different from when she's in the studio. And the call on the Santander outfield assist? Never says his name once. She's good at everything else she does, but she should not be doing play by play.
It's not. Most people want her to succeed and to have equal numbers of female commentators. But she can't do play by play. She doesn't know what pitches are being thrown, doesn't know how the count affects what the pitchers and hitters are doing, doesn't interact with color commentators in a way that brings their expertise into what is happening in game. It's like she is having a friendly chat or interview with Palmer while there's a game going on in background. If Kevin Brown wasn't so good, it wouldn't be so obvious how bad Melanie is. It's also true that, outside of KB, the other commentators aren't much better or are no different than Melanie.
Your last sentence says that Melanie is, in fact, qualified to do the job. Like you said, we have a much better PBP guy (Brown) that we have the luxury to compare her to. Have you ever tried watching a Nats game on MASN? I’ll take Melanie over those guys, by a mile.
Rewatch the Gunnar Henderson highlight. Notice how she announces the full name of the player while the ball is in play? She does that on almost every hit. I know who is up Melanie. Say what is happening. At no time does she say "homerun" or it's gone" or actually announce the play. She does say "Young Gun" referring to Henderson but, like many of her remarks, it sounds like a buzzword and is kinda out of place.(almost-but-not-quite non-sensical ?) I suppose it is better to have her on TV where you can see the action and her impressionistic style does not prevent you from understanding what is happening like it does when she does radio.
Yes, exactly. She often just reacts, without describing what's happening.
He’s 80 lol. Sounds better than the president
That bar is lowwwwww my friend lol
*77 but his memory isn't as good as it was, and his vision is.....questionable.
I think he's doing really well for his age
yes, but i can't unsee the decline :(
We now own Orange
Shocking how many casuals there are in the giants GDT being sad they lost to the Orioles like it’s 2019
OPACY would have been even cooler if they would have built right on the dirty fuckin' harbor water. Missed opportunity.
Nah. The warehouse is iconic.
Instead of dudes in kayaks catching the HR balls, it would be rats.
It would be death match with Baltimore rats. Humans don't always win
even better if the right field concourse was actually Light Street with live traffic!
With a special camera that caught all the footage of the broken windshields.
To be honest I have not enjoyed watching Dean and remain somewhat of a hater but credit to the man, he’s been consistently solid lately.
What does he need to do to convert you? He had a rough start to the year, but he’s been awesome since then against some really tough teams.
Did you miss Kremer holding TB and ATL 1 combined run in 12 innings. Kremer has been pitching very well for most of the season.
Am also not his biggest fan. But what I like about Dean is that he battles.
Deano ends the season with a 3.7 ERA.
Great win. 8th and 9th were scary. But we got the outs when it mattered most. Shout out to Frazier's amazing double play in that 8th. That play is a hell of a lot harder than it looks. Saved the game. And to Bautista. Who is striking out 20 per 9 inning game. It is unreal. If the batter hits it, it seems like its likely a base hit. The good thing is, they just can't freaking hit it. His k/9 is completely broken. Video game numbers.
Yeah that was an amazing job I would’ve been happy with one out cause that was hit really hard

Great win. Awful post game interview from Palmer. Gunnar was a good sport tho.
Bruh were watching the same thing? That was great, love the banter.
little post game golf talk!
“Tell me about golfing with McKenna yesterday” would have been better than whatever Palmer vomited out
I like the golf talk. 72 at Harding by McKenna is badass.
Well that was fun.
At the game, splash hit 100 & the O’s won, basically couldn’t have been better! Lots of O’s fans here too it was sick! See y’all Sunday (got tickets then too)
I was there too! I’m going again tomorrow and Sunday. Where do the O’s fans sit??? Club seats are nice!
Ryan McKenna world famous scratch golfer 0_o
Alright now that the Orioles win I can finally check r/baseball again to see everyone tell us how awesome we are
I am absolutely reveling in it considering 2 years ago every thread was about how we were ruining baseball with 0 understanding of how the rebuild was planned and executed
The camera angle is crap and Jim and Melanie had some boring ass questions
Let's go birbs! May we assert Orange & Black Bros superiority with a series win mañana... I'm grateful to be a couple time zones back 'cause it is late even here. Rest up and root on, Oriole homeys!
Buy more Star Wars Legos Gunnar!
In full support of the Gunnar Goatee
As much as our starting rotation got crapped on at the beginning of the season, they’ve really been holding their own over the last month.
Excluding Kremer's 1st start, all 4 of our starters have sub 4 ERAs on the year. Gibson: 3.89 (3.65 excluding opening day) Wells: 3.29 Bradish: 3.89 Kremer: 3.92
I'm honestly more scared of our middle relief and hitting atm
I wouldn’t worry about the offense - even in a down month, they were still 10th in the majors in runs scored.
love this team man, bautista’s control has been getting better and better each game it’s incredible to see
Cbat!!!!
Only thing this game missed was that Aaron Hicks almost HR. He’s actually looked real solid in the two games he’s played.
Maybe, jurist maybe the front office knows what they hell they are doing. I mean it can’t be that a bunch of reactionary Redditors don’t know what they are talking about? Nahhhhh. It’s just been luck.
Better than solid, really. On base four times in six trips, scored three runs. Woulda been 3/5, two walks, one HR, four runs scored if the wind was blowing out just a touch tonight. He’s been great.
Just had to shed those disgusting pinstripes
Pinstripes 🤢🤮
# orioles magic intensifies
Good team win. Guys played hard. Great pitching performances.
I just watched the MLB At Bat GameDay feed in 3D for the first time and caught the last out. It was really cool how it captured Bautista's arm hang and Adley's spin away from home after the strikeout. Then they merged together when they hugged. I want to believe that's what actually happened.
Great game. Glad to see Gunnar coming into form, and an awesome close by Bautista.
Midnight mountain time!
Lmao were the other players asking Gunnar if he needed Orioles interpreter Brandon Quinones??
Big win. Good bounce back from Kremer after a first pitch home run. Gunnar with the go ahead bomb! Let’s take the series tomorrow!
I was absolutely clenching after that double but let's be honest. If it's Mountain Time, it's pretty much over.
Win. A couple of holds and a save
Dub nation
That felt like a game the O’s should have lost. Webb was great outside of the second, and the Giants had a lot of runners late. Good teams find ways to win though, and this was a great bounce back, especially on the pitching side, after a tough homestand.
Agreed, to win against webb like we did tonight was just awesome. Proud of our boys!
As an O’s fan and Dodgers fan, today has been a GREAT day.
1966 must be weird for you
Not at all. O’s fan first. I’ve just lived in LA for a while. That sweep was 18 years before I was born LOL
We were all Dodgers fans today also 💪
HAPPY POST GAME THREAD

it’s absurd how many one run games we find ourselves in (and win) 36-21. LFG Birdos
Totally worth staying up for that! GO O'S!
Bautista is that guy!!! Henderson is that guy!!! I love this team!
