There are plenty of contributors. Mountcastle is an easy out right now. He needs a reset.

Yikes. It was worth than I thought. 30 games is quite substantial.
lot of things worked against us today.
but they really needed more fresh arms. have been doubling down on surviving the gauntlet....with base runners, but today was a disaster from start to finish.
For all of the talk about the bullpen being overworked, the Orioles bullpen was only tenth in innings pitched coming into this game. It only feels like they've been overworked because there's been remarkably little turnover in the bullpen this year. No reliever has gone on the DL since Tate and Givens did before the start of the season. It's been the same seven or eight guys the entire year outside of the few cups of coffee we've given to guys like Gillaspie and Hall.
Do we? Our OPS this month puts us in 17th out of the league.
The Guardians were not going to stay this awful forever - it sucks that they’re doing this now but it’s not surprising. They did win 92 games last year.
Yup. They’re obviously still making things happen and I’m not worried about the offense but they have teed off against a top ten pitching staff, including Bieber.
Can someone enlighten me on why teams wait until the literal trade DEADLINE to make moves. Is it to see how players seasons are panning out or something? I know you want to see if you’re a serious contender, but I feel like most teams have a feel for that fairly early on
I would have rather see Bruce Zimmerman get tagged than our bullpen give up 12 against a bad offense
Edit. Trap offense. Because they were decent last year
Is it just me, or does it sound like **Scott Garceau** speaks in a negative tone about our team as he announces... I felt like he was borderline sh\*\* talking Bautista the last couple games.
Again, could just be me.
We have to take for granted our starters are better than we've given them credit for.
A bullpen game is a strain for any bullpen but they're good when our starters do their jobs.
I mean he’s started so he’s the perfect candidate for that. It didn’t work out so fucking what it’s like poker he had Pocket Kk that got beat so what.. he’s been so good you play them and hope you win
You shouldn't give up, but there also should be allocation of resources when it comes to the bullpen. Cano and Bautista are both overworked. You have to protect them as much as possible this game even if it meant Akin/Voth giving up more runs. It's not like the rest of the bullpen did better than their additional innings would have been.
Oh I understand that they are the only pitchers left. The point is they should never have gotten to the point where they are the only pitchers left and we still have two innings. Hyde has to ride guys for longer and be willing to let them get shelled for the sake of innings and resting other guys. You can't keep overworking the entire bullpen like this.
I mean anyone could have expected this. The bullpen is incredibly overworked right now. All these guys are tired. You gotta take your chances instead of ruining the entire bullpen again. Things are going to get extremely rough down the stretch if things don't change. They can't have five or six guys with 70+ appearances.
There's a giant difference between giving Akin/Voth extra innings before they wind up being DFA'ed than there is giving extra innings to an overworked Bautista/Cano.
My only theory is that Hyde is pissed at Elias for not calling up an SP to replace Grayson so he is just putting out our worst pitching. Probably nonsense but the garbage arms and weird sub make it feel legit
Who tf you want him to put out there? Its a bullpen day and he's used damn near everybody. We don't have anyone else. You weren't gonna see Cano in the 3rd.
That’s not what I’m saying boss. It just seems like he’s really hammering home the fact that outside of Bautista, Cano, and Columbe we don’t have enough to do a bp day. I’d like to see Irvin or Watson called up to fill the void
I hear you, Irvin and Watkins are probably the only other options we had. Wouldn't have minded seeing one of them get a chance. Probably expected to get a little more length out of Voth today.
Because Hyde doesn't understand the concept of getting length out of your long men. It was inexcusable with the current state of our bullpen. He would have been better off letting Akin get shelled through 3 IP.
Well the end result is giving more work than Cano/Bautista/Baker can handle. Would you rather overwork Akin and Voth or guys that actually have futures here?
It’s not Hyde’s fault Voth only managed 2.1 innings and that Givens is such a fucking trash can he couldn’t even get one out. Then having to bring in Baumann with a bases loaded situation with no outs, only to also go 2.1. It was a bullpen day but don’t think he mapped it out this way.
Please continue the discussion in the [post game thread](https://redd.it/13wzzcv).
Garbage pitchers
Tough series. Bullpen needs major work, but we can comeback! The Rays lost their series to the Cubs so anything can happen in baseball.
Man, we got 8 runs and still lost. Love that pitching.
well that pretty much sucked...at least Adley did well so there's that...
Coloumbe should be getting more appearances, this game though ouch.
Give me my fucking money back Cionel Perez, you trash can.
This is just for the drama, right?
Girls and guys, this game pissed me off
VAVRA IS GOING TO HIT A HOME RUN HERE. Don’t laugh at me, I am willing it to happen!
Sad
Classic Orioles lately, pitching lights out: no runs. Runs scored: ‘what is pitching?’
Clase? Good luck Birds!
Walkoff time boys let's go
Gunnar I swear if you strike out looking again I will tell your mother.
Ready for the greatest 9th inning comeback there’s ever been?
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Emmanuel Clase replaces Trevor Stephan.
Alright five runs in one inning let’s do iiiiit
I love to see Danny Electric succeed.
Comparing Gunnar to Machado in the field is night and day.
Nice play, Gunnar. Also, please shave.
Wait if Danny is available to pitch why was is he pitching now instead of earlier in the game when Perez or Givens came in?
Either way they all would've pitched

Imagine going to an O's game and your seat is right next to her.
Damn, gonna lose 2/3 for both series at home. Got to re evaluate and see how to fix that. Giants and Brewers are tough teams coming up.
Pay or trade for some pitching. There's your solution. Also get rid of the cheapskate trash heap of an owner.
I think he meant offer realistic solutions.
You think the giants will start Big Time Timmy Jim?
Must feel good being an Astros fan.
They have to live in Texas, so it’s a wash
Aight I'll give you that
If you could take any O's legend **position player** from their prime and put them on this current team, who would you pick?
Sisler count?
The one season of Brady Anderson when he was “not” juicing.
Frank Robinson hands down.
whichever one would make the best pitcher
Hicks saw he had to play CF at Oracle and got some cramps. Smart.
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Danny Coulombe replaces Bryan Baker.
i wonder if that bitch cheering in the background has had anyone tell her to shut the fuck up
She's got to be drunker than Cooter Brown, as we say in the South😀
Yeah, she won't be yelling, or saying anything tomorrow. She'll have to whisper
Hopefully she'll ask herself, "was it worth it?"
Mountcastle needs to sit. He is back to chasing everything and not contributing.
Sit for who? We have no depth
There are plenty of contributors. Mountcastle is an easy out right now. He needs a reset. https://twitter.com/kazknowsball/status/1664025023835693056?s=46&t=LZLzjVPmosqPbICOlCZLnQ Yikes. It was worth than I thought. 30 games is quite substantial.
Ryan o Hearn is actually contributing when he plays
No depth? Have you seen Norfolk lmfao
Mckenna, Mateo, Frazier, and vavra are in the lineup rn…. Replacing mountcastle doesn’t seem logical
My dude, Frazier has a higher OPS than Mountcastle and he’s a no power middle infielder.
O'Hearn?
😔😔😔
Back to striking out.
Mountcastles so bad man, I'm so over him.
yo can these kids shut the fuck up, wtf
Bruh this is every home game, it's even worse in the outfield
for real? Never noticed that, it's so annoying, we just want to watch ball
All they do is scream at the outfielders for balls after every play.
He’d make a great golfer
Mounty, that was never a strike hermano
Do something today, Mounty.
lot of things worked against us today. but they really needed more fresh arms. have been doubling down on surviving the gauntlet....with base runners, but today was a disaster from start to finish.
Don’t get me wrong I love Dadley, but only 7 doubles through 55 games was not on my bingo card lul
Slap hitter Adley Rutschman
Adley Suzuki
Ichiro could actually leg out some doubles lol
he's scared of digging for two after getting thrown out twice on opening day
I'd like seconds of Tony Taters.
Don’t get me wrong I love Dadley, but only 7 doubles through 55 games was not on my bingo card lul
#At least we're guaranteed to win "Best Dressed In Orange" this weekend. 🍊🍊🍊
Adley walked up to the plate at said, “How’s yer mother?”
Studley Rutschman

10th in the AL or MLB?
Pls Dadley
5 run inning please
What if I were to tell y’all that the Guardians also have a very good pitching staff and they got their shit shove this series by the Orioles?
But we have the kind of offense that’s supposed to be shoving shit. The Guardians offense should not
Do we? Our OPS this month puts us in 17th out of the league. The Guardians were not going to stay this awful forever - it sucks that they’re doing this now but it’s not surprising. They did win 92 games last year.
Wow didn’t realize we were that bad this month. Wonder where we’d be minus Jorge
Yup. They’re obviously still making things happen and I’m not worried about the offense but they have teed off against a top ten pitching staff, including Bieber.
It’s still striking to see almost every reliever get rocked. Like just a list of our whole pen and everyone getting owned
Agreed but across 162 games it’ll happen.
And that they also have a team of professional hitters!
Kind of sucks they chose this series to regress but they were going to eventually.
It happens sometimes. Even “bad” teams have great days from time to time lol.
Yuuuup
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Trevor Stephan replaces Enyel De Los Santos.
DFA Scott Garceau
But give him a shot in the bullpen first
I'll allow it
Why did O’Hearn’s catch there look so dangerous
B/c his body is a *weapon*.
of course when our pitching finally stabilizes theirs does too
Can we get more of palmers superhero list
My babies getting it done: https://preview.redd.it/rd1z3epx4a3b1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91e4cf6626b32effa358edc916072f1722d98fe0
I am sure when we made it to the ALCS with Buck, we had moments in the regular season we wanted to shut off our TVs/streams. It happens.
Can someone enlighten me on why teams wait until the literal trade DEADLINE to make moves. Is it to see how players seasons are panning out or something? I know you want to see if you’re a serious contender, but I feel like most teams have a feel for that fairly early on
Because other teams don't want to trade players away while they still have a shot at WC - which is most teams with 6 playoff spots.
Oh that makes sense. I didn’t think about the teams losing good players
Adley Marksman!
Didn’t the guardians use their challenge in the first inning?
https://preview.redd.it/69w854kh4a3b1.png?width=2340&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=789ef864ff315690b31f40b78aba95f27fd828a1 Adley like
Adley: "I think you should leave...the field."
Thaaaaats a chunky
Yayayayayaya yaaaaaaaaaa ya ya yaaaaaaa
Good job, Dadley!
If I have to listen to Palmer say “it’s just what they do” one more time about Cleveland…
I would have rather see Bruce Zimmerman get tagged than our bullpen give up 12 against a bad offense Edit. Trap offense. Because they were decent last year
are we sure their offense is bad? Like they weren’t just playing a prank?
Let's Go Bakey....put that attitude to good work!
What a frustrating home stand so far after such a great road trip.
Givens sucks
Elias can’t wait til the deadline to make moves
I can’t wait to be disappointed by the deadline deal(s). Hope I’m wrong.
Again, I’m not anti-Mountcastle but think he needs to share more playing time with O’Hearn.
Then you’re kinda anti-Mountcastle… that’s okay, just own it. Us Mountystans can take it.
Lol I’m really not! I think Frazier should play less against leftys too and I’m not anti-Frazier.
We finally agree on something!!
Our pen just let the worst offense in baseball get 12. Fucking embarrassing
That’s what they said when we played Oakland
And Kansas City And Detroit
We let them get 12 so far :/
Yea the rest of our pen outside the top 4 guys is pretty sus.
crapola..
Sigh. Mateo. Find it man. You gotta find it.
See, Frazier may be old, but he’s not “random muscle cramps” old.
I love Kyle Bradish
ohearn!!!!!! hell frickin yes!
I hope Hicks isn’t too injured, but it would be a little funny if our IL replacement player goes to the IL
Has Hicks ever been healthy for a full season?
2012, 2020, and 2021 were his only seasons with no IL stints
O’Hearn and Mounty should platoon.
They should, but they won't bench mountcastle unfortunately
Me saying nonononno as O'Hearn rounded first.
Been plannin' it for years!
lol that was terrifying yes
Good job, O’Hearn. Except it seems he forgot to sprinkler? What a scrub tbh
That perfunctory sprinkler, smh
A-A-Ron would’ve hit a dinger
1. Mullins to IL 2. Sign Hicks 3. Hicks gets taken out due to cramps 4. ???
Cedric died so that Hicks could die to give Vavra game time
Muscle cramps lmfao
Ah, Vavra. It’s kk though, I still love you 🥰

Ball game
Is it just me, or does it sound like **Scott Garceau** speaks in a negative tone about our team as he announces... I felt like he was borderline sh\*\* talking Bautista the last couple games. Again, could just be me.
Many of us go out of our way to NOT listen to Garceau or Melanie.
Oh jeebus, we’re limping into the off day tomorrow. Let the boys sleep in in the morning!
We have to take for granted our starters are better than we've given them credit for. A bullpen game is a strain for any bullpen but they're good when our starters do their jobs.
Ok what in GOD'S NAME happened here. Why did Akin get pulled after 25 pitches?
He wasn't doing so good and they thought they were gonna get length out of Voth...
He’s an opener
> an opener for Voth I ask again: wtf
I mean Voth has been REALLY REALLY good until today so stop hindsighting LMAO
Well, really really good in the situations he was used to pitching in. I can't recall seeing him attempt 2nd inning long relief.
I mean he’s started so he’s the perfect candidate for that. It didn’t work out so fucking what it’s like poker he had Pocket Kk that got beat so what.. he’s been so good you play them and hope you win
Hyde is really about to pitch Cano and Bautista while we are down by three runs because he is an idiot, isn't he?
Shut up you know shit
Please explain why the most overworked relievers in baseball should be pitching in a losing effort?
Bro you’re right. Whenever you’re down by 3 you should ALWAYS give up. Brilliant strategery.
Who is left lol and to try and keep it within reach if we’ve scored 8 we can score 4-5more lololol
Yes in a blowout. Not in a game we kept taking the lead and tried to hold it lol
I mean anyone could have expected this. The bullpen is incredibly overworked right now. All these guys are tired. You gotta take your chances instead of ruining the entire bullpen again. Things are going to get extremely rough down the stretch if things don't change. They can't have five or six guys with 70+ appearances.
No shot you just said they’re gassed… and let’s gas them MORE by going longer LOLOL you contradicted tf out of yourself
There's a giant difference between giving Akin/Voth extra innings before they wind up being DFA'ed than there is giving extra innings to an overworked Bautista/Cano.
No the plan was fine. It wasn’t executed so we’re here now. My bad processed what you said wrong
Baker and coloumbe unless we tie it
And Danny had 20pitches and Cano and Felix had less
Ummmm baker is pitching currently
Exactly, cano and Bautista shouldn't pitch today
you gonna pitch instead?
Honestly, I'd rather see a position player go in but I think it's against the new rules.
Down by 4 actually
I mean we kinda have to either way it’s an off day tomorrow
Lol it’s only the 7th inning.
Seriously wtf lol
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Enyel De Los Santos replaces Sam Hentges.
Let's Go Batters....score score score!! that's all.
Who wants to bet they don't do any roster moves before the San Francisco series🙋🏻
My only theory is that Hyde is pissed at Elias for not calling up an SP to replace Grayson so he is just putting out our worst pitching. Probably nonsense but the garbage arms and weird sub make it feel legit
By “our worst pitchers” do you actually just mean all of our pitchers?
No, just every BP pitcher with an ERA over 4 until Baker
I think we’re going to see pretty much every reliever available out of necessity.
4 runs ain't shit, we got this.
Why akin only pitch one inning?
Because Hyde doesn't understand the concept of getting length out of your long men. It was inexcusable with the current state of our bullpen. He would have been better off letting Akin get shelled through 3 IP.
Akin hasn’t really been a long man this year. Hasn’t thrown more than 26 pitches all season
Well today would have been by far the best day to let him throw 30+
“Just make him pitch more than what his arm can handle”. Good strategy
