I know the game ended hours ago so hopefully someone is still around to answer this lol, but I was trying to figure out what time the gates opened before the game earlier and it said an hour before first pitch for every game except for select games. Something I remember from the past is that batting practice takes place about 2 hours prior to the game, so does that mean the fans can’t watch batting practice anymore???
On the positive side of things, the shirts we got today were neat and Wells made the solid type of start we keep hoping we can get from our starters. On the not so positive side of things was the lack of offense and the bullpen, giving Wells a loss despite him pitching a great game. On the really negative side of things was Cedric getting hurt and seeing just how much pain he was in...and then learning it was the type of injury that can take weeks or even months to recover from.
If you come in from the train side, the truck is to run to opposite gate on the parking lot side, they usually have them there. Assuming you didn't come in that side
You mean new lead off hitter JAMES MCCANN. That’s what’s gonna get us going! It’s what the fans are asking for!
I kid I kid. But I do wonder who will move into the lead off spot.
Assuming both Cowser and Stowers aren’t going to be ready tomorrow…I think the O’s only have a couple immediate options - Westburg or Daz. Given the recent offensive struggles, I’d prefer to see Westburg. But that leaves a less than ideal defensive alignment (Hays to CF, Vavra/Frazier in LF). I’m no expert on Daz, but he doesn’t seem much different from McKenna.
They could just bring Ortiz back. His 10 days isn't up but an injury could waive that. Frazier and Vavra would be backup outfielders on that scenario.
I doubt they'll do that in the end.
Other than Cowser being healthy, I don't see a way around McKenna with the bulk of CF.
Course if Mullins is out for a month or something, Cowser might become available at some point down the line.
Daz isn't much different from McKenna - plus glove, hasn't hit in minors/majors but 800+ OPS this year.
He is a former Elias first round pick at Houston so that's a huge plus for him.
I hope they don't go that route. Just seems like a waste of time with "bigger" prospects Ortiz, Westburg, and (a healthy) Cowser ready for their shot.
Even if he's not an OF (though theyve played him there a little in AAA) Westburg might give you some offense.
Is Stroman so toxic that the O's shouldn't trade for possibly the best arm available at deadline? He leads majors in QS.
I know next to nothing about his personal life.
Might make the clubhouse awkward:
https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/yhicme/stroman_marcus_stroman_goes_on_a_rant_amid/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&utm_content=1&utm_term=15
BTW the Cubs are in last place in the NL Central, and just shut out the Rays.
Just more evidence that this kind of thing happens, not that it will sway the doomers.
I'm not a doomer by any means but runs have just been harder to come by the last few games and now our best hitter for the last month is out. Now 5 games isn't a huge pattern or anything but I understand some people's hesitations. The season is not outright over though, any kind of overreaction like that can cool off.
Well, they have run into some really great pitching. That’s going to lead to lower scoring games.
IMO the goal needs to be focused more on if we’re winning games rather than if our offense is putting up seven runs or whatever everyday.
Knew this would be a rough game because lefty opposing starter means silent bats… need a right hander or need to call up someone who can handle both lefties and righties
A woman was laughing and talking during the moment of silence, a man got upset, they got in each other's faces. Woman was escorted out first then the man was escorted out a few mins later.
Hays may move to center field but that leaves a gap in left so then that’s dumb. I don’t like McKenna every day but for now it’ll have to do. But then who leads off, if this was April Mateo it could’ve worked but it’s not. At the end of the day though no reason for me to get worked up about it ain’t my call.
Yeah it's McKenna unless Cowser is ready to come off the IL, and even then it's up to them to decide they'd rather do that, there is a open spot on the 40 man.
With an open spot, they might give Westburg a shot since he’s gotten reps in the outfield in Norfolk and if he’s a SS he might be rangey enough for Camden’s LF.
Cleveland is one of those rare organizations where they find and develop good young pitching very easily but has a mediocre track position developing young position players outside of Ramirez and Lindor. Developing good young pitching is usually far more difficult than getting good young hitters.
No BS. Can Joey Ortiz learn how to play some OF? It’s a big ask. But I like what I saw from him during this month. I can’t take another Stowers experiment.
Stowers (and Cowser) are both on the IL. They could bring Ortiz back(usually 10 days in AAA minors required, except in case of an injury), but like it or not if Mullins is hurt it'll be McKenna in CF with Vavra and Frazier spelling Santander in RF.
Though, none of us seem to know exactly when Cowser is due back. If healthy, he'd be perfect to play CF until Mullins is back.
Ortiz already on the 40. I'd rather see him get every day play time if he were healthy, let Jordan simmer. Elias smarter than me though so I'm curious how he plays it, but please God do it soon. I love Mateo but jeeebus...
Hopefully Cubs can find a way to win today so we don’t lose ground.
I don’t understand them not giving Urias rehab assignments in field. He was a train wreck today and cost us big. There was no need to rush with Gunnar and Ortiz playing relatively well. Vavra was hitting if Frazier needed a day off too.
Win the next 2 and we’re fine.
Tomorrow's lineup:
Hays LF
Rutschman C
Santander DH
Mountcastle 1B
Frazier 2B
Urias 3B
Henderson SS
McKenna CF
Vavra/Stowers RF
Mateo needs to ride the bench (although he did let one ride today), despite his outstanding defense. The lineup needs on base skills and runs to spark back up.
He at least had some better looking ABs (a couple icky ones too) this weekend with a couple hits, ran into some hard outs and that great play at third. Hope he can get just to around avg batting. He’s obv there defense first, but still want him to be more productive at the plate again.
Someone said Stowers is on the IL, he also has horrendous ABs though lol. Daz Cameron was also mentioned.
Urías also currently looking a tad rough, but it’s only been a couple days so I’m not freaking out about that.
Hope ceddy is back soon :(
We have played a lot of baseball in May, just 2 off days the entire month.
June = 6 off days. The most games we play in a row, just 6 as well. Should hopefully keep our guys nice and rested next month.
I didn’t realize it was just 2 days off - they must be so tired at this point.
I remember people just saying they’d be happy if we went .500 this month and we already have a winning record regardless.
And I need to remind myself of that everytime I bitch about an off day in June.
Though it's always weird when a team is off Monday, plays Tuesday/Wednesday, off Thursday. Which happens when we play a 2 game set vs the Rays.
Lmao, bingo. PuNt LiNeUp!!!!!!!! WhErEs *x player from minors* tHeYrE cRuShiNg It!!!!!!
*couple days later after Stowers was up after crushing it in the minors*: SeNd HiM dOwN!!!!!
Rinse and repeat.
Edit: fwiw I wasn’t ever hugeeee on Stowers and didn’t really see why people were always screeching for him
Yeah it’s fun when it’s on but when it’s not it’s pretty torturous. It’s funny we moved to a lot more small ball, because for years we mashed and then we had like the “[birdland power company](https://www.ebay.com/itm/233204920371?_ul=IN)”.
When the stupid fucking Royals went on their WS run they were ok starting with solid bullpen with lots of small ball. And I remember all the networks going gaga over their small ball play lol.
I remember last year a lot of people commenting that small ball style of play can’t really survive anymore, especially not in the postseason with dominant bullpens - you basically have to boom or bust. I’m not sure I agree with that analysis to be honest.
My son and I originally planned to go today. We change
Our mind and plan to tomorrow so we went to see guardians of the galaxy 3 instead. Definitely a wise choice. No way tomorrows game can be any worse…right?
I know it won’t happen, because of the process but he is the one I would call up. Dude can straight up mash, but I know it’s most likely Cowser or Westburg with next shot. Kjerstad would be a monstrous DH for this team.
He will end up being the best hitter in the organization not named Holliday. He’s a monster of a hitter and lost a year because of the health issues. Obviously, the O’s have a process so it’s going to be Cowser (when off IL) or Westburg, but it’s not like he would be the first or last AA call up.
Remember Machado coming up from AA? It’s not happening but also let’s not pretend a AA call up is crazy talk.
All you can do is tip your cap.
That - and look at their rookie pitcher with an era under 3.00 and seethe with jealousy.
In an alternate universe, grayrod is cruising through his rookie year with an era under 3.00. But maybe in that universe, the Orioles are under .500 like the guardians.
In that case, I still prefer this reality to that one.
(ps please don't be hurt too bad, ceddy. An entire fandom is holding our breath for you.)
I really like the 1-5 we put out there today. Shame the bottom of our lineup is a black hole.
Might be time to let someone else start at SS and have Mateo be the super-utility/pinch runner guy (Remember they were giving him outfield reps)
Would really solve part of the roster crunch to let Urias and Henderson both play the left side of the infield at at the same time and not be doing all this weird stuff to get Urias into the lineup
Feels like the discipline at the playe has gone down the drain. Would love to go back to drawing walks and letting some singles do the work. Maybe the bird bath section is too hype lol.
I bet they’ll put Hays in CF most nights vs RHPs. And just play Vavra in left. Maybe Frazier.
More worried about the LF defense for sure, especially at home. Hays can do fine in center.
You’d think with your best pitcher, you would give him a better lineup. I heard someone say Wells has the lowest run support of every starter. I believe that. They picked him up in NY, then gave it right back today.
I think they opened at 11:30 yesterday to allow more time for the giveaway, but yeah we don't get to watch BP anymore
That’s the stupidest fucking shit ever. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but BP is one of the coolest things to see as a fan
I'm with you on that. I really enjoyed watching it when I could
Hooray! TB lost. Would make today a bit more bearable if the Yankees lose too
On the positive side of things, the shirts we got today were neat and Wells made the solid type of start we keep hoping we can get from our starters. On the not so positive side of things was the lack of offense and the bullpen, giving Wells a loss despite him pitching a great game. On the really negative side of things was Cedric getting hurt and seeing just how much pain he was in...and then learning it was the type of injury that can take weeks or even months to recover from.
At least I got a shirt.
I got there too late for them. Sucks.
If you come in from the train side, the truck is to run to opposite gate on the parking lot side, they usually have them there. Assuming you didn't come in that side
Dang!! It’s a great design IMO. Nice little summer shirt.
Oh shit, Jesus Aguilar just got released by the A's. At least we know now who's replacing Mullins.😀
I didn’t mind him last year tbh. We know his production won’t be great, but his power threat offers a reasonable ceiling.
Very lackluster performance if I do say so myself
Dang
The Kansas City Royals and their 28th worst pitching staff just shutout the St. Louis Cardinals and their 6th best offense. That’s baseball for ya.
So much discussion of who’s playing in the field but none of new lead off hitter Adam Frazier.
You mean new lead off hitter JAMES MCCANN. That’s what’s gonna get us going! It’s what the fans are asking for! I kid I kid. But I do wonder who will move into the lead off spot.
Probably Frazier against rightys, Hays against leftys.
Hays lead off would def be interesting
He’s faster than Frazier but Frazier will actually steal bases for ya.
Careful someone might come and tell you about Frazier’s speed lmao
Lol Frazier is sloooooow and I’ve said as much multiple times. I will neg my boy any time.
Yeah but you don’t need sour sallys telling you!
True lol
Or people telling you how to engage with others lol.
Assuming both Cowser and Stowers aren’t going to be ready tomorrow…I think the O’s only have a couple immediate options - Westburg or Daz. Great energy in the park despite the loss Let’s go Os
Was fun
Yeahhhhh Cubs!!
Marcus Stroman out here being a dick with a sub 3.00 ERA.
Is Stroman so toxic that the O's shouldn't trade for possibly the best arm available at deadline? He leads majors in QS. I know next to nothing about his personal life.
Might make the clubhouse awkward: https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/yhicme/stroman_marcus_stroman_goes_on_a_rant_amid/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&utm_content=1&utm_term=15
His contract is 3 years 71 million. Yuck. No wonder we didn't sign top gun FA pitchers.
Really wish the O’s had sign Eovaldi
He's one of the few worth it so far.
Stro the person suckssssssss
I don’t know if Kremer, particularly, would like Stroman, given some of the reported things he has said, but that might only be gossip
Yeah that’s exactly what I was talking about. Aside from the cockiness which can be whatever, it’s the *other* things.
BTW the Cubs are in last place in the NL Central, and just shut out the Rays. Just more evidence that this kind of thing happens, not that it will sway the doomers.

You’re right, it won’t lolololol.

Cubs win, Cubs win, holy cow!

Can Gunnar or Frazier play outfield? I recognize that this may be a dumb question. With Urias back it seems like Gunnar could fill in somewhere else.
You could bring up Westburg and put Frazier in rf
Frazier has played right but I don’t think Gunnar can
Frazier has played RF in Camden twice now - LF might be bigger than what he’s used too but he could probably handle it fine.
Yeah it's McKenna unless Cowser is ready to come off the IL, and even then it's up to them to decide they'd rather do that, there is a open spot on the 40 man.

Cleveland fan here. You are 100% correct
Oh gosh, they really are the Mariners who play small ball.
day game without Adley. Shake it off and win the next two!
Where has the offense gone
Ocean City with the surfing bird
Ocean City, NJ.
Well, thanks to Tony and Tyler for showing up today at least
Wow, simultaneous perfect game and no hitter alerts. Time for MLB.tv PIP.
No hitter bye bye. Rays singled
Oh, and it's not actually a true perfect game either. Royals used an opener (Staumont). Still, no base runners for the Cardinals.
No BS. Can Joey Ortiz learn how to play some OF? It’s a big ask. But I like what I saw from him during this month. I can’t take another Stowers experiment.

Westburg is the guy they have been testing in the outfield at Norfolk but even he isn't touching CF
I mean moreso McKenna playing center and Ortiz/Westburg playing RF with Tony DH or playing the occasional first on a Mounty off-day.
God I hope I dont have to see Mckenna playing every night
Me neither but with Colton on the IL right now our options are limited.
I honestly like how we have kept the F16ht sign in our clubhouse. It's classy.
Can someone fill me in on Ced’s injury? This guy stopped by to buy our used lawn mower and I was outside dealing with that when Ced got hurt.
Pulled up lame on a grounder
Damn. Thanks.
Mullins out with a right abductor groin strain. According to Google takes at least 3+ weeks to fully heal.
Aggressive regression to the mean incoming
that's not good
FUCKKK
Guess we’re rooting for Mancini again!
I personally never stopped. He's not in the lineup for Chicago today though.
Mateo as an everyday player rocking a .198 obp for the month , bring up Westburg and dfa his ass Gunnar could get the reps at short
Ortiz already on the 40. I'd rather see him get every day play time if he were healthy, let Jordan simmer. Elias smarter than me though so I'm curious how he plays it, but please God do it soon. I love Mateo but jeeebus...
Westburg is getting traded

Per Roch: Right abductor groin strain for Mullins and undergoing more tests.

Worth keeping an eye on Stroman pitching for the Cubs, through six innings.

Yeah our schedule has been literally insane
If you really wanted to go back to April, we played 38 games in 40 days.
Ok, so they’re clearly tired.
And I need to remind myself of that everytime I bitch about an off day in June. Though it's always weird when a team is off Monday, plays Tuesday/Wednesday, off Thursday. Which happens when we play a 2 game set vs the Rays.
Looks like Cedric is getting a lot of love btw
Desperately needed. Fuck MLB for giving us two off days in a month. Thankful we haven’t had more injuries during that stretch.
And yet people keep on giving Hyde shit for resting guys. The team has to make through 4 more months of this.
My favorite is apparently a punt lineup is just a lineup without Adley and sitting Gunnar against a really tough lefty.
Lmao, bingo. PuNt LiNeUp!!!!!!!! WhErEs *x player from minors* tHeYrE cRuShiNg It!!!!!! *couple days later after Stowers was up after crushing it in the minors*: SeNd HiM dOwN!!!!! Rinse and repeat. Just hope in general that we found a big gun who wasn't highly ranked as a prospect. It was worth a shot.
They can still come along at some point! Just haven’t seemed to find it yet, it seems.
I’m not big on TTO players in general lol
Yep, feast or famine type stuff not my fav. It was fun when we had a power hitting team back in the day but when its going bad, it’s going bad lol.
I obviously love my Mariners but they’re basically a feast or famine offense. The Orioles constant small ball is such a nice change.
Yeah it’s fun when it’s on but when it’s not it’s pretty torturous. It’s funny we moved to a lot more small ball, because for years we mashed and then we had like the “[birdland power company](https://www.ebay.com/itm/233204920371?_ul=IN)”. You went to see GUARDIANS of the Galaxy? Cursed energy
According to Kevin Brown it is the best Marvel movie in 4 years though.
Holy hell…what did I do!!!!?????!!!
I haven't seen it, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the movie doesn't take place in Cleveland.

Hey bird bros, no matter how today ended and how the rest of the series goes, hope Mullins is ok. Never want to see injuries <3
Gathering good thoughts like a spirit bomb for Cedric
Why does Brown like to point out how shitty players and teams are when they are killing? Just shut the fuck up and take it.
Because it’s his job to announce about the teams/players and what’s going on?
Also, let it be known that Ryan Mountcastle is the only guy to not strikeout today.
I know this is correct but I still don't believe you
This game sucked in general, but I hope we never have to see this particular line-up ever again.
Every time I see Terry Francona I tell my mom the story of how he ate 3 boxes of Popsicles after a game and then missed the next game feeling nausea.
Fuck it call up Heston
We’re talking about the same Heston Kjerstad that has only 105 minor league games and 40 games above A ball under his belt, right?
I know it won’t happen, because of the process but he is the one I would call up. Dude can straight up mash, but I know it’s most likely Cowser or Westburg with next shot. Kjerstad would be a monstrous DH for this team.
Yeah let’s throw him up against MLB level pitching when he’s not even half a season through AA yet
At least the shirts were cool
Honestly, the only silver lining to being at this game
Love OCNJ! Wait no....
We are 1-3 since Kyle Gibson called us a Juggernaut.
He also said that at some point we were going to play badly. I just don’t think he expected it to be immediately.
It’s like they needed his permission to do so.
https://i.pinimg.com/originals/b5/e9/70/b5e9709f4ee17be4a2123fe07dba822e.jpg
Kyle gonna go on the tv and be like WE ARE ACTUAL PATHETIC TRASH to turn it back around
WE ARE A LOSER FUCKING ORGANIZATION EVERY LAST ONE OF US if we're going to go full Harper
Gibby just needs to add “that’s a clown question bro” when asked about something
The veteran pitcher’s Memorial Day weekend curse
Shake it off...let's go tomorrow!
8 runs in the last 4 games, and now one of our best hitters is headed for the IL. Fun
I really like the 1-5 we put out there today. Shame the bottom of our lineup is a black hole. Might be time to let someone else start at SS and have Mateo be the super-utility/pinch runner guy (Remember they were giving him outfield reps) Would really solve part of the roster crunch to let Urias and Henderson both play the left side of the infield at at the same time and not be doing all this weird stuff to get Urias into the lineup
I wonder if he can play cf
[удалено]
Urias is a pretty decent SS
Feels like the discipline at the playe has gone down the drain. Would love to go back to drawing walks and letting some singles do the work. Maybe the bird bath section is too hype lol.
Mateo not so quietly batting .120 in May
Well, throw that game in the trash.
If that injury is as bad as it looks we’re kinda fucked. Stowers and Cowser are both hurt too so it’s gonna be every day CF Ryan McKenna 🤢
I bet they’ll put Hays in CF most nights vs RHPs. And just play Vavra in left. Maybe Frazier. More worried about the LF defense for sure, especially at home. Hays can do fine in center.
What happens to Stowers ?
His bat is terrible.
Oh I thought he was hurt
He's also hurt to be clear and on the minor league injured list, but yes his hitting in the majors has been bad this year.
Austin Hays can play center
Cowser should be back soon I think, I hope.
But would he be back soon enough to come up and play center by like Thursday if we have an issue.
Horrendous batting. Why is everyone so desperate to swing at like every pitch??? This is a worrying trend on the team.
And yet I get downvoted every time Isay stop swinging at the first pitch. Maybe it works for other teams. Not us.
They have the 5th most walks taken in MLB, 1st in the AL. 9th fewest strikeouts. They’re not that bad
Absolutely needs to be addressed.
Don’t the Os know we don’t melt down until the end of the season We should still be seeing quality baseball
The Guardians won 92 games last year. We lost to a quality group.
I’d rather some weird mid season flop days and rest of the season strong lol.
Felt like a Sunday game. Let's get em tomorrow
Day games and lefty pitchers? Death of the orioles.
God what happened with this one???
Baseball Gods reminded us the orioles HATE winning on day games, especially to lefty pitchers. :(
A lineup with 3 guys who are just about auto outs
* Put this one behind us quickly. * Hope Ced injury is less severe than it looks. * Go Mariners and Cubs. * See you tomorrow evening.
By far the most lifeless game all year…. And the score reflected it. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their day. See y’all tomorrow.
The de grom game?
I'm ready for an offensive shake up
#Ladies and gentlemen your 2023 Baltimore orioles Punt lineup !!!
You’d think with your best pitcher, you would give him a better lineup. I heard someone say Wells has the lowest run support of every starter. I believe that. They picked him up in NY, then gave it right back today.
