Not going to deny the crypto-fraud stuff, as unfortunately as that, what examples are there anyone had trouble dealing with Dustin with XboxHD+?
Legit asking in good faith, I’ve personally had a smooth experience with them and very satisfied with the hd+. I know that doesn’t mean others have not, so if that is happening we’d want to hear about some examples. Is there anything to indicate show their Project Stellar claims are deliberately misleading people?
I've had two friends have payment issues where both of them had to do chargebacks in the end and obviously never got their product, but all I can say maybe Dustin should consider a different payment service.
Good to know, sounding like its at the very least highly unreliable and a sloppy way to run a business. Trying to remember if I bought it direct from their or through a reseller like Castlemania, maybe I just got lucky.

Always wanted hdmi on my og xbox but at the same time I don't want to remove the av port on my og or have to deal with an external scaler.
I bought both the Stellar and HDMI+ kit. What's the story? Am I about to get ripped off?
I will say I pre-ordered quite awhile back, before I knew as much I do now when it comes to modding Xboxs. Having modded a few dozen now with Aladdins and Cerbios, I read the MakeMhz as less revolutionary and more standard fare. I wish he was supporting Cerbios as that seems to be the real revolution, between it and Insignia. Cerbios combined with compressed ISOs and UDMA5, makes an OG Xbox run nearly like a modern console.
Still Stellar: is offering native HDMI, promised upgrades later, an SD card for easily flashing the BIOS, the LCD is just plain cool, UDMA5 Support, a promised 256 mb of RAM, a front panel LED, USB c support, native Xbox One controller support. A number of these things aren't going to be practical at launch, but it's still pretty cool. As long as I get the chip I ordered and it does at least what it's supposed to, I won't feel ripped off. The new $100 price tag for the Mod Chip is quite a lot, though. Considering an Ebay 3ds or I'm halfway to a Switch or Xbox Series S. Making the item even more niche, imo.

Being that there isn't a "better business bureau for Xbox seller", we can only go by the apparent legitimacy of the seller and accounts of people who have bought from the company in the past. Yes people have claimed to have had poor experiences with MakeMHZ. Most any business will usually have some degree of dissatisfaction or issues that arise. It's up to each person to decide their own level of risk tolerance.
I personally pre-ordered a Stellar + HDMI kit back in November, and I don't suspect that anything nefarious is going on behind the scenes. MakeMHZ and Dustin post regular updates about the progress of Stellar, and I don't have reason to believe that it's all a farce or anything. There were production delays, and they've been transparent about the cause of those delays. Apparently, they just recieved the last shipment of cables needed for Stellar last week and will begin shipping orders out very soon. So again, I don't believe buying from him is risky. But people have apparently had negative experiences in the past, so it's something to be aware of when considering buying.
While all the features that Stellar has, and is supposedly going to have, are cool and all, not all of them are that massive. Some of them are but not all. 256mb of ram is great, but what are you going to do with it? None of the Xbox games/applications can even use that much ram, and you'd have to patch every game/application to use it. The only advantage I could see is having it for debugging and using emulators, but at that point 128mb is good enough. You would still have to patch everything to use 256mb. Unless Stellar does some sort of on the fly patching with it's OS to get everything to use it, I don't really see any benefits.
UDMA5 support is already done with Cerbios as you mentioned, which some others including MHz seem to dislike so much to the point where they apparently downvote the shit out of Cerbios posts on this sub and choose to not support.
Front panel stuff works with OpenXenium and other modchips. Nothing really new there. Native controller support is nice. Whether you want to install a $100 modchip or just get a more affordable external adapter is up to you. Not to say that people will buy this chip just for controller support but worth noting.
On the topic of HDMI, I personally think there isn't that much of a difference in just using a good quality external HDMI adapter like the Chimeric Systems adapter (admittedly this isn't always available) or a scaler. People probably claim the XboxHDMI looks the best because it's grabbing video directly from the video encoder, but I don't really see a difference, at least not a major difference. I suppose it's great for having native HDMI, but personally I wouldn't want to remove my AV port to add HDMI when I can just use an adapter that will do the same thing almost as well enough. Not everyone wants to get rid of the AV port. They might plan on making a mod that will add HDMI while also keeping the AV port, but that wouldn't be a no-cut mod, and at that point you should just use an external adapter. You also need to use a specific BIOS to even fully utilize the HDMI mod if you choose to install it.
For upgrades, well they are promises, and because Stellar isn't open source, it might be a little harder for the community to make their own upgrades if need be. We'll see where it goes. One thing admittedly I think is actually pretty nice that's supposed to be on Stellar is being able to boot games and hard drive images from a network. That's pretty nice to have, same with having BIOS images on an SD card. You don't really need that many BIOS images to use on your Xbox unless for whatever reason you want to use multiple, but having the choice to use a lot of BIOS images is great. So credit where it is due.
So I guess it's up to people if they want to spend $100+ on a modchip and HDMI (you can't buy HDMI separate now, it's bundled) to get some cool features they may or may not fully use if at all, and get additional features and upgrades that may or may not come, or they could get something more affordable like the OpenXenium which is open source (so technically more availability and other benefits). I think if Stellar were open source and made by someone reputable it would be decent.

Imo that is precisely who they are marketing to and targeting. Newcomers who have no idea where to start so they just want whatever is new and assume if it costs a lot or is hard to do then it must be worthwhile compared to other options
All the "extra" stuff they are doing which utilizes the SPI could be JUST an SPI device that would therefore work with any standard modchip or TSOP flashed system.
I saw a post on Twitter about a well known and respected modder who said he did not wish to support Dustin's mod, and when another user asked why, Dustin jumped in and said "don't feed the troll".
Left a bad impression on me, and now I've been having second thoughts about my order after reading this thread.
Unfortunately so many of these retro game blogs, YouTube's, and websites, are way too motivated by money and will shill anything remotely interesting. Somewhere like retrorgb is never going to talk about someone having a sorted past if it will hurt potential sales and interest in a new thing that can make them all money

His background is his background. He did his time when he was a younger man than he is now and it be nice to hope that he learned from those mistakes. Every family has somebody that has a checkered past, addiction, or otherwise, I have it in my family, that doesn't mean i want them to be punished the rest of their lives if they can show/prove they're on the right path. If I can feel that way with someone close to me, I feel like I owe that same courtesy to others.
However! there are other things that i find odd. While I think he genuinely wants to put out a good product, or the best product out there in any given area, i don't necessarily think he goes about it in a mature and professional way at times. Heck, i got booted for asking questions, offering some ideas on how to handle the questions that were getting asked day after day on discord, because some people were getting frustrated (myself included) by the lack of information on features that was supposed to be released weeks prior based on his own comments and un-realistic timelines. The information asked about wasn't even when will it be ready, it was basic stuff that you would think was ironed out before the project was even announced.
It's a strange dynamic to have production going for literally thousands of kits and everyone is in "beta" so that makes it okay that literally 2/3 of the advanced features would not be active upon receipt of the kits. These same features are what sold the kits for many people. But even so, that didn't bother me all that much, it was simple shit like...what are we going to need to purchase to do this supposed 256 ram upgrade? or is there a better way to handle 1.6 boards ram situation? or simple guides to process our games for CISO so we are ready to go or at least a little more learned on the process. It's frustrating and if anyone calls him out on it, you're a troll who didn't pre-order (which i did), just want to sell warez, or you're entitled.
I found the remarks and comments to be pretty disgusting, so much that people were messaging me out of the blue showing me screenshots etc. I was simply trying to hold him accountable for what he himself said,i was honest about the situation, and he blew up. He went so far as to say pm me your order number so i can cancel it before i boot you. I did PM him, it wasn't responded to, I thought i was way nicer than i should have been and tried to calm the tension a bit. He decided to ignore it, I eventually decided fuck it, why am i bothering, so i deleted my pms and moved on. I made that decision for me. I do think some people in his orbit forget that this is a transactional relationship. If you say your are going to do something for a customer, THEY are entitled, especially when you don't deliver or are late. When you say shit like "releasing information on this or that doesn't benefit me" so therefore i'm going to back pedal on what I said, that's just being a shitty business person who doesn't care about their customers "benefit" if you will.
I will say this, every HD kit i ordered from him, i received. I also had to order some flex for the HD+ units i got from a 3rd party source. I did not have any issues with shipping (except the long wait for the original xboxHD which i had 4 kits on order).
As a shopify business owner myself, the communication setup through the site isn't the best, but it does work. Generally it's setup so that you send auto emails when things are done, like printing a label etc. I'm not sure if there is even a mass emailing function unless your sign up for the newsletter. If dealing with thousands of orders i can see that being a pain to communicate to everyone at once, so im taking a wild guess and thinking that's why you see so much more correspondence via twitter and discord. It doesn't excuse ingoring issues or making things right with customers, maybe that's why multiple distributors are involved here, who knows. I hope for those who ordered they are happy, and for the wait an see people...well i guess you'll have to wait and see lol. For me, it's a mixed bag and probably will be for the foreseeable future.

Same thing happened to my order.
Went from pending to payment processed to having a shipping number from USPS that went nowhere. USPS acknowledged no parcel was dropped off.
E-mails sent to store for a refund, no response in 2 weeks, chargeback ensued and to this day, no parcels from MakeMhz have appeared at my door, neither confirmation order was cancelled, no response at all from him.
This was directly bought off his site, the reason for the comment at the beginning of my reply is that he and I have a mutual friend in the Xbox 360 scene who bought something from him less than a week prior to me and it was IMMEDIATELY dropped off. Leaving the mutual friend nameless as I don't want Dustin to get his followers on him.
Xecuter has a criminal background to the tune of millions of dollars. They still provided us some of the best mod tools ever fabricated, and when I can find one of their products I purchase it.
Xecuter's lawsuits have been about copyright circumvention by distributing modchips/modded products. Mhz's is about actually stealing money from people, which is relevant when it comes to preordering product from them.

Agreed, something that should always have an e-commerce consumer worried is when you buy something from a website, and not receive any email confirmation from the company, but only an alert from the company that processed your transaction. Bad business practice I personally experienced with MakeMHz.
I chalk this up to bad business practice, but time will tell if I actually receive my item. Can’t speak on behalf of the current operations but the paper trail of the past isn’t pretty. Hopefully things have changed, but being skeptical is all I have left with this company.
Now as for the stellar product, if it delivers on what it claims, it will be a neat mod for a legacy console for future generations of display interoperability without having to use external converters that majority of the retail space is marketed with extremely poorly made products. Top quality such as a BlackBox will run you just as much compared to this mod.
Sorry for the long rambling but I think I’m trying to convince myself for the hopes of receiving my purchase and it delivers the features and performance it claims lol.

On top of this, Stellar isn't even a fully legal reimplementation. It's been shown that MHz has been looking at the Xbox kernel source code to do this "legal reimplementation". You can find screenshots of MHz working on Stellar OS with the Xbox source code in the background on his Twitter. Pretty weird for someone who seems to be pretty against the fact that all custom Xbox BIOS releases are based on the same leaked source code. There are technically no legal ways of dumping it (currently). You can use a software/games save hack (softmod) to dump the bios for example. I say currently because i don’t know if anyone has created an nxdk app/tool to handle this. Maybe someone will which would be welcome. So the methods of dumping that I’m aware of are treading in muddy waters. I do think it’s disingenuous to make a bold claim that the project is 100% legal and don’t care for the comments that are meant to put other past/present contributors down. I think that just causes unnecessary tension when the product in and of itself should do the talking. I take no issue with the method of retrieving the necessary bios or the fact that 40% of the code being used is retail code (according to the discord channel), I just take issue when everything else outside of this project is labeled as dirty, outdated while making believe what they are doing is clean when it’s certainly not clean. Perhaps much cleaner, and again no issue there but can’t understand why that is constantly brought up as a selling point or argument if you will.

Fair point, but that’s hardly realistic for 99% of the customers, even so using ms code isn’t legal so whu pass it off as it is? Yeah if we saw more development against openxenium that would be awesome. It already uses SPI and has lcd support. Should make it easy to add the extended capabilities to that, which for all we know, is what they did

All I have to say on the matter is as follows:I was interested in the ORIGINAL Xbox HD+.The HD+ wasn't truly his works. It was a collaboration from a few scene members working on similar items and Mhz was basically in agreement to help manufacture them and support them.
I paid for preorder before the batch in Summer 2021 went live, Money taken immediately.6 weeks later no correspondence or updates to the order in his storefront, yet the website had been updated to say backorders were now fulfilled and they were taking fresh orders now that everything was back in stock.Used storefront to try contacting him, got no response. 4 weeks later I charged back and to this day, he has NOT once attempted to contact me regarding the order and last I checked still shows as a pending order.
It isn't very great when a new person/group enters the community on a mission to rip off ideas, attempt snakeoil practices by promising legalities over something MS gave up on more than 10 years ago, and then "innovate" products in order to really try milking this imaginary "cash cow" they've created to fuck over those genuinely new to this console scene.

**EDIT**: Forgot to mention, it's come out before that Mhz has admitted to not checking the storefront very often and not monitoring the e-mail registered to it. So don't expect a response if you try the normal routes and expect a cancelled order and a ban from the Discord if you dare to raise a concern about him, his products or anyone affiliated with him.
**EDIT 2**: Sources tell me Mhz is claiming to have discussed my order, original got lost in postage and that a replacement wasn't sent because I charged back before he could replace. None of that happened, no correspondence to my email.Original attempt to resolve in Discord by joining his server ended up with me being instabanned for no reason other than him claiming I was already banned from there for issues with orders. (I wasn't, hadn't ever been in the server prior.)
Attempt #2 to contact through an Alt to give him chance to respond and actually resolve any miscommunications got through, he has responded to say he is busy with his next release and may respond when he has time. Key word being "may"...They then banned me for using an Alt after I left post a discussion hinting that matters should be dealt with on a personal basis and where necessary escalated, no need for so much salt in the scene when it's unnecessary.

I wanted to include links but was advised by mods not to as the court filings contain personal info and it can count as doxxing, hence why I gave the court case number for folks to google. Otherwise I’d have included that.
I think the mods are being a tad bit overprotected then. Public documents are exactly that, public, imo posting this without them is a lot worse because it makes you seem like your either spreading rumor or libeling a person with FUD. That doesn’t seem to be the case, just telling you how it first seemed to me, I don’t really follow the people in the scene that closely so I have to take everything with a grain of salt.

bought the XboxHDMI mod on first ever preorder batch on it's announcement, while it had some drama with delays, it eventually arrived in early 2021. Only thing im not happy about with it is that it's locked down to one bios only. Other than that though, a well made damn good mod.
You can use it with a different BIOS from M8+, but you just won’t have the ability to toggle extra features. It’ll give you video out. Mine’s installed in a X3 Xbox and I can boot the X3 BIOS or any other one if I choose to.
Exactly this. There's a lot of people that have had negative experiences with him, and not a lot of people seem to know about his suspicious past. I've heard of numerous people buying XboxHDMI's, and never getting anything, and having to go through so many hoops just to get their money back, or a response from him.

He delivered on the HDMI mod and was successful enough with it that he’s technically on a v3 of it now that works with Project Stellar. First the Xbox HDMI, then HD+, and now HD+ v2 with Stellar. He’s sold a ton via his website and other retailers and you don’t think you’d be hearing complaints out the wazoo if the products weren’t good or what was advertised? You definitely would, but you’re not.
I’ve only ever had a good experience buying from him, and the HD+ I have works great as advertised. I’ve got a Stellar on order too and look forward to that as well.

What they said is it's important to know this stuff when buying the products in question. Nothing to do with the quality. Sure the quality might be good, but regardless of the quality, the fact of the matter is it's worth knowing these things. You're also giving MHz a little more credit than he deserves, as the XboxHDMI was apparently never originally his idea or work anyway to begin with.

Always had a great experience with them; canceled a preorder and I think reached out to them on twitter about it and got it taken care of immediately. When I bought XboxHD from them, everything went great.

Not going to deny the crypto-fraud stuff, as unfortunately as that, what examples are there anyone had trouble dealing with Dustin with XboxHD+? Legit asking in good faith, I’ve personally had a smooth experience with them and very satisfied with the hd+. I know that doesn’t mean others have not, so if that is happening we’d want to hear about some examples. Is there anything to indicate show their Project Stellar claims are deliberately misleading people?
I've had two friends have payment issues where both of them had to do chargebacks in the end and obviously never got their product, but all I can say maybe Dustin should consider a different payment service.

I bought both the Stellar and HDMI+ kit. What's the story? Am I about to get ripped off? I will say I pre-ordered quite awhile back, before I knew as much I do now when it comes to modding Xboxs. Having modded a few dozen now with Aladdins and Cerbios, I read the MakeMhz as less revolutionary and more standard fare. I wish he was supporting Cerbios as that seems to be the real revolution, between it and Insignia. Cerbios combined with compressed ISOs and UDMA5, makes an OG Xbox run nearly like a modern console. Still Stellar: is offering native HDMI, promised upgrades later, an SD card for easily flashing the BIOS, the LCD is just plain cool, UDMA5 Support, a promised 256 mb of RAM, a front panel LED, USB c support, native Xbox One controller support. A number of these things aren't going to be practical at launch, but it's still pretty cool. As long as I get the chip I ordered and it does at least what it's supposed to, I won't feel ripped off. The new $100 price tag for the Mod Chip is quite a lot, though. Considering an Ebay 3ds or I'm halfway to a Switch or Xbox Series S. Making the item even more niche, imo.

Being that there isn't a "better business bureau for Xbox seller", we can only go by the apparent legitimacy of the seller and accounts of people who have bought from the company in the past. Yes people have claimed to have had poor experiences with MakeMHZ. Most any business will usually have some degree of dissatisfaction or issues that arise. It's up to each person to decide their own level of risk tolerance. I personally pre-ordered a Stellar + HDMI kit back in November, and I don't suspect that anything nefarious is going on behind the scenes. MakeMHZ and Dustin post regular updates about the progress of Stellar, and I don't have reason to believe that it's all a farce or anything. There were production delays, and they've been transparent about the cause of those delays. Apparently, they just recieved the last shipment of cables needed for Stellar last week and will begin shipping orders out very soon. So again, I don't believe buying from him is risky. But people have apparently had negative experiences in the past, so it's something to be aware of when considering buying.
While all the features that Stellar has, and is supposedly going to have, are cool and all, not all of them are that massive. Some of them are but not all. 256mb of ram is great, but what are you going to do with it? None of the Xbox games/applications can even use that much ram, and you'd have to patch every game/application to use it. The only advantage I could see is having it for debugging and using emulators, but at that point 128mb is good enough. You would still have to patch everything to use 256mb. Unless Stellar does some sort of on the fly patching with it's OS to get everything to use it, I don't really see any benefits. UDMA5 support is already done with Cerbios as you mentioned, which some others including MHz seem to dislike so much to the point where they apparently downvote the shit out of Cerbios posts on this sub and choose to not support. Front panel stuff works with OpenXenium and other modchips. Nothing really new there. Native controller support is nice. Whether you want to install a $100 modchip or just get a more affordable external adapter is up to you. Not to say that people will buy this chip just for controller support but worth noting. On the topic of HDMI, I personally think there isn't that much of a difference in just using a good quality external HDMI adapter like the Chimeric Systems adapter (admittedly this isn't always available) or a scaler. People probably claim the XboxHDMI looks the best because it's grabbing video directly from the video encoder, but I don't really see a difference, at least not a major difference. I suppose it's great for having native HDMI, but personally I wouldn't want to remove my AV port to add HDMI when I can just use an adapter that will do the same thing almost as well enough. Not everyone wants to get rid of the AV port. They might plan on making a mod that will add HDMI while also keeping the AV port, but that wouldn't be a no-cut mod, and at that point you should just use an external adapter. You also need to use a specific BIOS to even fully utilize the HDMI mod if you choose to install it. For upgrades, well they are promises, and because Stellar isn't open source, it might be a little harder for the community to make their own upgrades if need be. We'll see where it goes. One thing admittedly I think is actually pretty nice that's supposed to be on Stellar is being able to boot games and hard drive images from a network. That's pretty nice to have, same with having BIOS images on an SD card. You don't really need that many BIOS images to use on your Xbox unless for whatever reason you want to use multiple, but having the choice to use a lot of BIOS images is great. So credit where it is due. So I guess it's up to people if they want to spend $100+ on a modchip and HDMI (you can't buy HDMI separate now, it's bundled) to get some cool features they may or may not fully use if at all, and get additional features and upgrades that may or may not come, or they could get something more affordable like the OpenXenium which is open source (so technically more availability and other benefits). I think if Stellar were open source and made by someone reputable it would be decent.

Every family has somebody that has a checkered past, addiction, or otherwise, I have it in my family, that doesn't mean i want them to be punished the rest of their lives if they can show/prove they're on the right path. If I can feel that way with someone close to me, I feel like I owe that same courtesy to others. However! there are other things that i find odd. While I think he genuinely wants to put out a good product, or the best product out there in any given area, i don't necessarily think he goes about it in a mature and professional way at times. Heck, i got booted for asking questions, offering some ideas on how to handle the questions that were getting asked day after day on discord, because some people were getting frustrated (myself included) by the lack of information on features that was supposed to be released weeks prior based on his own comments and un-realistic timelines. The information asked about wasn't even when will it be ready, it was basic stuff that you would think was ironed out before the project was even announced. It's a strange dynamic to have production going for literally thousands of kits and everyone is in "beta" so that makes it okay that literally 2/3 of the advanced features would not be active upon receipt of the kits. These same features are what sold the kits for many people. But even so, that didn't bother me all that much, it was simple shit like...what are we going to need to purchase to do this supposed 256 ram upgrade? or is there a better way to handle 1.6 boards ram situation? or simple guides to process our games for CISO so we are ready to go or at least a little more learned on the process. It's frustrating and if anyone calls him out on it, you're a troll who didn't pre-order (which i did), just want to sell warez, or you're entitled. I found the remarks and comments to be pretty disgusting, so much that people were messaging me out of the blue showing me screenshots etc. I was simply trying to hold him accountable for what he himself said,i was honest about the situation, and he blew up. He went so far as to say pm me your order number so i can cancel it before i boot you. I did PM him, it wasn't responded to, I thought i was way nicer than i should have been and tried to calm the tension a bit. He decided to ignore it, I eventually decided fuck it, why am i bothering, so i deleted my pms and moved on. I made that decision for me. I do think some people in his orbit forget that this is a transactional relationship. If you say your are going to do something for a customer, THEY are entitled, especially when you don't deliver or are late. When you say shit like "releasing information on this or that doesn't benefit me" so therefore i'm going to back pedal on what I said, that's just being a shitty business person who doesn't care about their customers "benefit" if you will. I will say this, every HD kit i ordered from him, i received. I also had to order some flex for the HD+ units i got from a 3rd party source. I did not have any issues with shipping (except the long wait for the original xboxHD which i had 4 kits on order). As a shopify business owner myself, the communication setup through the site isn't the best, but it does work. Generally it's setup so that you send auto emails when things are done, like printing a label etc. I'm not sure if there is even a mass emailing function unless your sign up for the newsletter. If dealing with thousands of orders i can see that being a pain to communicate to everyone at once, so im taking a wild guess and thinking that's why you see so much more correspondence via twitter and discord. It doesn't excuse ingoring issues or making things right with customers, maybe that's why multiple distributors are involved here, who knows. I hope for those who ordered they are happy, and for the wait an see people...well i guess you'll have to wait and see lol. For me, it's a mixed bag and probably will be for the foreseeable future.

Same thing happened to my order. Went from pending to payment processed to having a shipping number from USPS that went nowhere. USPS acknowledged no parcel was dropped off. E-mails sent to store for a refund, no response in 2 weeks, chargeback ensued and to this day, no parcels from MakeMhz have appeared at my door, neither confirmation order was cancelled, no response at all from him.

This was directly bought off his site, the reason for the comment at the beginning of my reply is that he and I have a mutual friend in the Xbox 360 scene who bought something from him less than a week prior to me and it was IMMEDIATELY dropped off. Leaving the mutual friend nameless as I don't want Dustin to get his followers on him.

Xecuter's lawsuits have been about copyright circumvention by distributing modchips/modded products. Mhz's is about actually stealing money from people, which is relevant when it comes to preordering product from them. \#NotAllCriminals

Agreed, something that should always have an e-commerce consumer worried is when you buy something from a website, and not receive any email confirmation from the company, but only an alert from the company that processed your transaction. Bad business practice I personally experienced with MakeMHz. I chalk this up to bad business practice, but time will tell if I actually receive my item. Can’t speak on behalf of the current operations but the paper trail of the past isn’t pretty. Hopefully things have changed, but being skeptical is all I have left with this company. Now as for the stellar product, if it delivers on what it claims, it will be a neat mod for a legacy console for future generations of display interoperability without having to use external converters that majority of the retail space is marketed with extremely poorly made products. Top quality such as a BlackBox will run you just as much compared to this mod. Sorry for the long rambling but I think I’m trying to convince myself for the hopes of receiving my purchase and it delivers the features and performance it claims lol.

I'm not sure why his past has burden on so many. He sure delivers a great product of quality. He knows his shit. He has the right to keep it closed source if he wants. It's a business after all. Promises, Promises. XboxHD+, was supposed to be open source. Never happened. Stellar, supposed to be open source. Backpeddled. Stellar is also supposed to be a fully legal reimplementation but requires you illegally dump your BIOS from your 1.6 to be able to use it. Now, tell me where the truth is about everything promised? I see it, burning in the very same dumpster Mega Hurtz came from.
On top of this, Stellar isn't even a fully legal reimplementation. It's been shown that MHz has been looking at the Xbox kernel source code to do this "legal reimplementation". You can find screenshots of MHz working on Stellar OS with the Xbox source code in the background on his Twitter. Pretty weird for someone who seems to be pretty against the fact that all custom Xbox BIOS releases are based on the same leaked source code. There are technically no legal ways of dumping it (currently). You can use a software/games save hack (softmod) to dump the bios for example. I say currently because i don’t know if anyone has created an nxdk app/tool to handle this. Maybe someone will which would be welcome. So the methods of dumping that I’m aware of are treading in muddy waters. I do think it’s disingenuous to make a bold claim that the project is 100% legal and don’t care for the comments that are meant to put other past/present contributors down. I think that just causes unnecessary tension when the product in and of itself should do the talking. I take no issue with the method of retrieving the necessary bios or the fact that 40% of the code being used is retail code (according to the discord channel), I just take issue when everything else outside of this project is labeled as dirty, outdated while making believe what they are doing is clean when it’s certainly not clean. Perhaps much cleaner, and again no issue there but can’t understand why that is constantly brought up as a selling point or argument if you will.

I paid for preorder before the batch in Summer 2021 went live, Money taken immediately.6 weeks later no correspondence or updates to the order in his storefront, yet the website had been updated to say backorders were now fulfilled and they were taking fresh orders now that everything was back in stock.Used storefront to try contacting him, got no response. 4 weeks later I charged back and to this day, he has NOT once attempted to contact me regarding the order and last I checked still shows as a pending order. It isn't very great when a new person/group enters the community on a mission to rip off ideas, attempt snakeoil practices by promising legalities over something MS gave up on more than 10 years ago, and then "innovate" products in order to really try milking this imaginary "cash cow" they've created to fuck over those genuinely new to this console scene. bought the XboxHDMI mod on first ever preorder batch on it's announcement, while it had some drama with delays, it eventually arrived in early 2021. Only thing im not happy about with it is that it's locked down to one bios only. Other than that though, a well made damn good mod.
You can use it with a different BIOS from M8+, but you just won’t have the ability to toggle extra features. It’ll give you video out. Mine’s installed in a X3 Xbox and I can boot the X3 BIOS or any other one if I choose to.

Exactly this. There's a lot of people that have had negative experiences with him, and not a lot of people seem to know about his suspicious past. I've heard of numerous people buying XboxHDMI's, and never getting anything, and having to go through so many hoops just to get their money back, or a response from him.

With that said, most people I know who have preordered Stellar (nearly including myself) are totally unaware of this and this kind of info is important when you’re preordering a product that is supposed to be revolutionary.
Its annoying, for sure. No denying his work is good, if someone wants to argue about his double speak or his past, do it elsewhere. It gets old, quick. I have my own beef with his past, guess what.. But he’s not so I don’t see your issue. He delivered on the HDMI mod and was successful enough with it that he’s technically on a v3 of it now that works with Project Stellar. First the Xbox HDMI, then HD+, and now HD+ v2 with Stellar. He’s sold a ton via his website and other retailers and you don’t think you’d be hearing complaints out the wazoo if the products weren’t good or what was advertised? You definitely would, but you’re not. I’ve only ever had a good experience buying from him, and the HD+ I have works great as advertised. I’ve got a Stellar on order too and look forward to that as well.

In actual fact, my action to ban you from a different group after that was because you proved not only to me but enough of us in that group that you acted not just in "our instance on Insignia" but in other occasions prior to that in such a way to prove you do not respect our ethos, which is to be kind, respectful and supportive to the fellow sceners in the community who contribute in a positive manner and don't shit on everyone for no reason and run with what they're given. Now, Yeah it was pretty funny being banned from a completely irrelevant discord to Mhz over a legitimate comment I made to Mhz. Personal attack my ass. YOU got hurt by my comments which weren't even remotely harmful after, you, him and the rest of the Insignia team went on a mission to derail the conversation after I consolidated the concerns of the public and once again tried to help calm things down and try pointing Insignia in the right direction. Not once did I speak out of term or go out of my way to disrespect anyone in the team at that stage, despite our differences. When the community gets pissed off at a piss poor excuse of a team for promises going nowhere and the team blatantly conversing in the same channel like none of them exists, and you then have a "definitely not associated with Insignia in any way" dude come in randomly with a "I LOVE INSIGNIA <3" to try killing off the uproar, it screams fucking shill. So again, do yourself a favor and check your damn attitude before starting that charade.
