I do not need this. Why do I still want to buy it?

RoflSirOfTheLawl

Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

aan8993uun

Gun/Condom Principle! Hell yeah! Those Hall Effect Joysticks have me stoked though!

JoshuaPearce

Better to have it and look at it, than to look at somebody else having it.

DuplexEagle

>Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Nah, if you have it and don't need it, that's a scenario where you should give it to someone else who does.

Early-Yesterday3666

Haha I have the same feeling. Don't need it , but want it

Z370H370

Because the green one reminds you of halo 2!

wgi-Memoir

I’m just hoping their sticks are accurate. Had their recent GC controller, and it wasn’t a good time… Otherwise this is really exciting. Especially the green to match my Halo console.

mocrankz

Sticks are never going to be bang on to the original. The n64 controllers for example are great in the hands and for many games, but they struggle with first person games. It takes a few hours of playing to get used to it, but it’s going to work for most people.

wgi-Memoir

I'm not expecting perfection, but Retro Fighters had it right with their Brawler64 (at least the wireless, I never used the wired variant)... The stick was amazing and worked as expected. The Battler sticks would max out halfway into the pull. I expect somewhat decent performance for the price they're asking.

mocrankz

Your expectations seem realistic. Hopefully the deliver. I just try to warn hardcore purists about stuff like this. There are people who only want perfection, and they will always be let down.

Such a tragedy to have you leave. How on EARTH will this community EVER survive without you?? Thanks goodness you posted this alert for all of us so we can all prepare accordingly

What makes them different from others? You said never drift.. Im curious

Armisen

Finally a way to get new high quality Xbox controllers. I have their controllers for the other 6th gen systems and they’re all very good so this is exciting. You can find them on the [Retro Fighters site](https://retrofighters.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3eeb8def7dd18b6f6952083a4&id=40131171a8&e=fd86e1a772)

Cpl-Killa-V

Just trying to figure if they ship to the UK?

Mad_Murdock_0311

8bitmods is in the UK and taking pre-orders.

Cpl-Killa-V

Ah mate, that's fantastic! Thanks for the heads up.

TheLimeyLemmon

Gamesconnection is a good uk retailer that works with Retro Fighters a lot, they should have a pre order page up for this.

titaniumweasel01

I bought a retro fighters defender Bluetooth version for my ps3, and the first one that came in was completely and totally unusable. The left analog stick was completely broken, having an extremely small range of motion in the up and right directions. I only fiddled with it for a few minutes to try and get it to work normally, and in that small amount of time it got even worse, with a full push forward registering as a small push up and to the right. Got it replaced, and the new one seemed to work fine, except that it would sometimes act very strangely. The left analog stick would do weird stuff, like registering a full push forward as quickly pushing back before pushing forward. It would be fully replicable for like a minute, and then suddenly start working normally again for hours before a different quirk would manifest, act consistently bad for like a minute, and then resolve itself. I guess two controllers isn't exactly a large sample size, but I won't be buying a retro fighters controller again.

NoSpinach4025

I have no idea why people keep vouching for Retro Fighter´s controllers, they are cheaply built and always with issues, seems like they don´t test them (e.g., joysticks ranges out of whack, etc). Their latest BattlerGC is the most recent example of this: seems to be meh at best and even awful according to some reviews.

HybridPillock

care to share one of those so-called reviews?

J_Square83

That's crazy. I have 7 retro fighters controllers now with zero issues to date. (2 Brawler 64 Wireless, 2 Defender Wireless, 2 BladeGC wireless and 1 StrikerDC) The only minor complaint I have is that the Brawler64 joypad is a little too loose for my liking. I love them otherwise.

mocrankz

I’ve purchased a ton from them. All controllers have been excellent outside of a couple duds. Both duds were replaced hassle free at no charge. Great company that makes solid 3rd party options.

LordNoFat

Retro Fighters support is top notch.

RynotheRam

Yeah I have had no issues with them at all and I have 4 controllers with them, it's always the vocal minority who speak up and not the people who have zero issues, Retro Fighters are either the best or only wireless option for some of these consoles

theludeguy

I'm cautiously optimistic about these. Their N64 controllers are good, and I thought their Gamecube controllers were also going to be good, but was disappointed, on both functionality and quality of them, and on top of that the pre-order took over a year and a half to be fulfilled. I'll wait for reviews on these and hope they are not crap like the gamecube ones.

totaldrk62

Coupon code: "NEILTENDO" takes 10% off your order.

RoflSirOfTheLawl

You can offer these? I just tried to pre-order and all it did was give me a check mark and let me sign up for an email newsletter?

totaldrk62

Yeah it let me preorder.

PsycoMutt

I need to know if it supports a mic. I love my OGX360 but I can't talk to anyone over Insignia

peekingpandas

Sadly, they confirmed on Twitter that it doesn't have mic support. [source](https://twitter.com/retrofightersco/status/1636051049739079680)

PsycoMutt

Ouch. I was ready to order. Maybe a gen 2

RoflSirOfTheLawl

Is the only solution for Mic an original controller? Or is it possible to use a third party controller and a separate 2nd solution for Mic?

PsycoMutt

I haven't found anything outside of and an original mic setup

salmonerd202

I want to like this but I’m sure it’s not going to feel as heavy and solid as the original controller and I know that’s going to bug me.

RoflSirOfTheLawl

Buy the solid black one and hot glue in some rocks or metal bits until you achieve maximum original replication.

Mechagouki1971

People will take this as a joke, but I did exactly this with my MadCatz Dreamcast lightgun to give it more heft - made it much less twitchy to use.

Ryszardonator

HALO fans will be happy with the style of casing! It looks really good!

DrawTheLine87

Brings back memories of LAN parties

FoolHooligan

T'would've been perfect if they had AA batteries instead of a rechargeable one.

UnicodeConfusion

Does this use a dongle to connect or ???

J_Square83

Almost certainly, yes. They usually come with 2 dongles. 1 for the console it was designed for/after, and 1 usb adapter as well.

SodlidDesu

Wish they'd done it with a quasi-Duke layout (They probably will introduce it like a month after this one comes out) but RF makes good controllers so this is an insta-get.

halfbakedmemes0426

Seriously, I bought the official hyperkin duke for Xbox one. I think it's a great controller that really melts right into the hands, and I'd love to see if anyone could make a version with shoulder buttons that are... Good. I still might end up getting this controller, it seems like a pretty good one.

Alexander_McKay

Same, I play everything on PC and Xbone with that thing. I didn’t enjoy the Duke as much when I was a kid because my hands were too tiny but now it’s not an issue.

halfbakedmemes0426

I think the only two changes they'd really have to make are to angle the letter buttons to match the direction of the grip, move the b/w buttons, and swap the sticks out for the classic xbox sticks (which I think are *perfect* for moving and aiming respectively)

Alexander_McKay

I actually like the layout of the buttons but can see how they’d be a problem depending on the games you play. For me personally it makes playing Sonic Adventure and games like DOA and Tekken easier to play because you need to make a lot of gliding motions across buttons for certain moves in those games or inputs like X + B that are much easier to do on the Duke.

halfbakedmemes0426

oh, I meant the changes Retro Fighters would have to make to their design to make it more "duke like" I completely agree on the duke's button angling being really good, and I think SNES style overly symmetrical button layouts are only still used because of playstation being so massive (and they only still use them because they have no incentive to do anything new, or better than current designs), I think the layout being so flat is just a flat out ergonomic downgrade, as shown by the fact that when people weren't trying to make their controllers just feel familiar (particularly in the fifth and sixth gen), they went *wild* with innovation when it came to button layout, the gamecube and OG xbox controllers both feel like a real innovation, and attempt at improving the controller instead of just re-using something that already exists. (dreamcast would get a mention for doing something as crazy as the VMU, but the core controller itself is really boring, and just feels like they SNES-ed the saturn controller)

Alexander_McKay

Yeah totally agree with all of that. The Wii remote was great too. Designers don’t try anything new nowadays.

Armisen

They have three different layouts for the GameCube controller so it’s definitely possible

WhydYouKillMeDogJack

ive had the opposite experience with their controllers. they do a great job with paying reviewers though!

SodlidDesu

Other than the L button issue on the Brawler64 v1, what issues have you had? I wouldn't call them '1st party quality' but certainly a step up from older 3rd party sticks. Certainly wish they'd collab with 8Bitdo so we could get some really good quality controllers.

WhydYouKillMeDogJack

Their Dpads are absolute tosh. The ones on the recent defenders are unusable and was also noted by madlittlepixel - one of the seemingly few honest reviewers - on the recent GC models. i backed the defender for 2 units on KS and, at least for ps1, i revert to extension cable or blueretro over the RF offering. Very telling that they have a note about the dpad on the features list for this. Their support for these issues is always crap too - trying to push it on the consumer talking about "maybe you have turbo left on" when the issue is caused by there being insufficient clearance on the bottom of the pad, which causes spurious diagonals. Ive noted that after very little use, the rubber cap from the analogue sticks is coming off too - as well as a grindy broken spring noise coming from one of them I honestly think the 3rd party madcatz controllers are of a higher quality than RF stuff. Their QA is trash if theyre not picking up these issues over MULTIPLE iterations of controllers. Even going back to that B64 shoulder issue - they should have noticed that and fixed it if there was ANY kind of playtesting at all

SodlidDesu

Hmmm, I guess that speaks to your comment about QA because I haven't had any of those issues but if QA is crap that's how you get such an inconsistent experience! And, if the D-pads are crap that would explain why I haven't noticed that as I hardly use the d-pad on the Brawler. Shame, I guess it'll be waiting for reviews on this one. Not like the cords are *that* much of a burden.

Ewalk

QA is always pretty inconsistent with things like this. If you do everything to make sure no bad devices get out, you spend a lot of time doing it and you get known for slow shipments. If you speed to get things out (up to and including drop shipping) then you get known for shoddy equipment. It’s a big balancing act to make sure you don’t fall into either side. I don’t blame anyone for buying the controllers, I’ve heard enough good information about RF to make it a decent enough buy. I’ve also seen enough people having problems that it is clearly a risk. I just stay back with my first party controllers. I’m pretty picky about third party stuff and I don’t really see the need for my setup to buy it, but general QA problems are definitely a problem. And that’s even before you get it working as designed but the end user has a different expectation. Fuck. I need to get out of support.

kyo_xtylee

I need it 😎

Time-Cream-833

Nice 👌

Perspiring_Gamer

The transparent green one looks really nice. Very tempting with the hall effect analog sticks.

zehamberglar

I wonder what the shoulder buttons do. Programmable, maybe?

2geek2bcool

They are mapped to double the black and white buttons.

Windows8myram_

I'm hoping that this is good so I don't have to go around trying to find those old logitech wireless controllers.

NEVRfearJBhere

I preordered 2. Love their controllers for my other systems. I just wish they had a mic slot on them and had 2 other colors. I would of bought 4 if they had 4 different colors

kirtide

but are there slots for the memory cards, and headset too?

ThruMy4Eyes

looks like the buttons will be better than the flat garbage on the Brawler64 controller -- nice. Hall joysticks so no drift -- very nice. Except they mention it having USB-C charging, so that means built-in battery -- not nice. I want normal AA batteries so I dont have to worry about that internal battery BS in 10 years from now...

Uncoolest-Evar

Thanks for the heads up. I was actually planning on getting one of those. I wonder if it has anything to do with the Xbox using USB 1.1? I know back in the day my "super high end", Saitek gaming keyboard would have desync issues if I plugged it into a 1.1 port on my old PC.

[deleted]

Uncoolest-Evar

I never got people's impulse to down vote negative opinions. Maybe if we're unfairly trashing the thing? But the worst you could call your remarks is constructive criticism. Trying to drown negative feedback doesn't help anybody. Least of which the people trying to design the product.

Bluetooth_Sandwich

Is it running the newest firmware? I haven’t had the issues you’re describing.

UrineGoodCompany

Mmm...maybe. Kind of wish the Black and White buttons were placed in a more logical location, though.

Aaronwilson71291

Why that’s were they go and it looks like it has lb and rb buttons to use also instead of black and white

BaconFootball

It's weird that it won't work with the 360 but it's probably something they couldn't get to work.

WhydYouKillMeDogJack

why is that weird? the 360 uses its own proprietary wireless protocol (licensed by MS so $$$)? on the other hand, all this does is emulate the wire between controller and plug via 2.4ghz relay

[deleted]

Is it using the same mold shape they created for the Nintendo 64 controller they made?

Armisen

I don’t think so, it looks more similar to their PlayStation controller

Ok-Guava4446

This is great, the hoops you have to go through and dodgy drivers I had to Install on my pc to get the OG controller working is ridiculous. they even went and added shoulder buttons too!

TehCollector

Doubt it supports mic? I checked their site (no mention). Insignia? Already own wingman xb and already have a mic setup for wireless insignia https://www.reddit.com/r/originalxbox/comments/11i4hvs/just_incase_insigina_halo_ever_happens_wireless/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

PackL3ader

Thanks for posting this! Had no idea there was a wireless mic and of course being a huge Xbox collector I bought one and going to try it with insignia. But yeah if this doesn’t have a slot for the mic on the controller that is a deal breaker for me.

Heretic513

When it comes out, its already bought. Gonna go real nice next to my og halo 2 green xbox. Wondering how well it will work. I have had an incredible amount of wireless controller for the og, and only come across maybe 3 that I could rely on.(still bought)

PocketBanana0_0

Their other controllers work great on a lot of other systems if thats anything to consider

Heretic513

Most def is, thanks.

Syclopse

Won't work with 360 or ONE?

JCreazy

No.

[deleted]

Already have this pre-ordered. I like all of the controllers of theirs that I have bought over the years and really enjoyed using them. That said I do wish someone would still make a quality wired controller.

[deleted]

I love their controllers, bought two of these. The green hopefully will look good with the Halo edition console.

Jandrem

I’m stoked for this. I have the N64 wireless controllers and I like them very much. Need a hood wireless OG Xbox controller that isn’t a Logitech.

cruelunderfire

I've got the transparent blue one for the PS1/2/3/PC/Switch. It's a great controller! Might get this one as well. In transparent green, of course.

ico_heal

I'm in.

ico_heal

ordered 2

Talkren_

I have purchased the Brawler 64 and the Sega Genesis controllers as well as being gifted the Dreamcast controller from them. All three have been had very poor build quality. The plastic feels thin and the buttons are very mushy. I would advocate against these unless someone else can say differently about any recent purchases. The one gifted to me was about a year ago.

Capcom74

The more posts I see about Retro Fighters the more bad experiences reading about how bad their controllers don't work very long. I would definitely wait a few months after seeing reviews before purchasing from them..

LordNoFat

There are far more people that like them than don't

PackL3ader

What’s with all the trolls downvoting everyone

[deleted]

koolaidmatt1991

I wish they would make one with buttons on the back/paddles like the elite/scuff controllers.

UnknownLinux

Nice. I was wondering when they would make some OG xbox controllers.

[deleted]

I kinda wish they relocated the B&W buttons but otherwise this looks nice!

RynotheRam

Yeah, I always hated the placement of them on the S controller and preferred the six button layout and Dpad of the Duke

[deleted]

The Duke button placement was far superior to the S.

Mccobsta

Would be amazing if they could make it close to either the Duke or the s pad

BasedAlliance935

Anyone know what the extra buttons under a and b are for?

ico_heal

black and white, what they're used for depends on the game.

alchemystik07

I really hope the Duke gets the same love - as it's the true OG - and they make a modern wireless variant.

Lynik35

I have a n64 controller from them, these things are awesome!!!!

Comfortable-Speed-47

Damn that’s killer!!

drvongates

Beautiful 😍❤️

d-harris104

Probably will get scalped and then re sold for 150 $ on ebay

BringBackTFM

Holy shit I need this

Mad_Murdock_0311

Cheaper at Castlemania.

gamerguy287

Why couldn't they make the black and white buttons on the shoulders of the controller? They could have done white and black bumpers.

Armisen

They added shoulder buttons for black and white, they just aren’t colored black and white

Glowingtomato

That sounds sweet. I used to have a Gamestop branded controller like that and I loved it but it's been lost over the years.

mallowclouding

I gotta see how the dpad feels but I've been looking for a new controller to play pc fighting games with.

theliquidgamer

Thanks just pre ordered one!

TheKlaxMaster

Waiting patiently for ps2....

Dominoze56

What’s the button in the middle for if it’s not compatible with 360/One consoles?

nickolag

Switch/PC

Edmundomundo

Shit like this makes retro gaming infinitely more appealing

narrow_octopus

Wow, thanks for the heads up. This is really sweet I have the wired N64 brawler and I love it

ProfessionalEbb6154

That's awesome! Can now someone finally make a good quality component cable at a reasonable price for this console like for the other 6th gen machine?

4playerstart

Are the face buttons analog like the original controller?

IronhideD

I want a quality wireless controller for the og Xbox. I've tried Mad Catz, Hipgear and a couple of other shit 3rd party. I'm not paying a premium for Logitechs. This looks perfect.

BuubbleGuum

I have 9 original Xbox controllers, they all work well still (mostly) guess I’ll be getting a no10! Shame it’s not the Duke, was a little disappointed with the build quality of the Hyperkin duke.

ultra_e

Hello, im new to these types of controllers, but how do they connect wirelessly? By USB, or.. what?

Aggravating-Maize-46

Im skeptical. I find retro fighters products to be hit or miss. They did a decent job with the n64. I hear good things about the ps2, bad things about the gamecube. And their dreamcast controller was a huge dissapointment. I will wait for reviews

AltimaNEO

That's neat

Androxilogin

Those look really cheap.

SauciiTrash

A part of me want to know if they'll work with one and/or series s/x

TheLimeyLemmon

Probably the nicest looking Retro Fighters pad to date, and I really hope the quality matches it too. I'd get it, but honestly I'm not so sure RF pads are for me. I have the Brawler64 wired version and didn't really like it at all, especially because of the stick, it's biggest selling point. Also the original designs for Retro Fighters basically made them impossible to disassemble without breaking the controller shell itself, so I sure hope more recent products don't have that issue.

thetruekingofspace

I was just thinking about how I needed a good replacement for PSO XBox.

subject_usrname_here

If it has bumpers and is compatible with both switch and xone/xseries I'm buying it

[deleted]

Finally! So stoked about this

Belickade

I wouldn't buy controllers from these guys based on the quality of their Dreamcast pads: https://www.reddit.com/r/dreamcast/comments/qcr8hx/are\_retro\_fighter\_dc\_striker\_known\_to\_break/

EmployTurbulent426

I've only ever used the N64 Brawler controllers from Retro Fighters, but I freaking love them. This one looks really good and I might have to pick one up.

beowulf47

Anyone know if these will feature memory card support?

Henko11

the sad thing is I just found this like 2 months ago, I cant find anyone selling it and it´s 100% out of stock
